Key backlight setting problems - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum.
I am coming from being a Iphone user for many years and finally have decided to make the jump into the Android world.
I recently purchased a Skyrocket and have found lots of great info on this forum. proud to have been able to install CWM, Root and flash "Build_Dark_pa_skyrocket-2.21-15OCT2012" with the help of all the great guides posted here. I'm really starting to enjoy playing with this phone and all its potential. (much faster than my old Iphone 4)
My question is, ever since I flashed the paranoid android rom my key backlights do not work. Its a small inconvenience but would really like to get them working again. I think I have tried all the settings (but being a noob), I may have missed something. (so many options) Any help to get them working again would be appreciated.
Thanks to all all again!

Pretty sure that was a problem with that specific version. Its fixed in 2.23. Only difference is its not dark themed.. yet.

Thanks. I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss something. More than happy to live with the way it is now. Running real smooth.
Till I upgrade again.

[Q] POLL: Which Custom Rom is more Favorable MYT4G?!!!

Okay Fam,
I am new to forum, not really new to reverse engineering but new to the forum. Now, I am in no way a developer, more of a user. I follow instructions very well, and I read a lot. Since I joined here I have spent several cumulative hours reading and trying to get the understanding of Roms and Kernels and stuff. I pretty much got the jist of it now. I successfully perm-rooted and unlocked my MYT4G with the gfree method. This was done to my stock rom. I am also very satisfied using SetCPU to manage clocking speeds. Since using it I know it works as I do see a difference in Batt life. Now for the POLL.
Which custom rom are you guys using on the MYT4G? Please list why, and describe stability and speed(clock) and bulk. Those are my top concerns!!! I downloaded some of the newly leaked roms, so any feedback on those would be great as well. And please let me know if you are using SetCPU on the rom you explain, as I would love to continue using it.
(Some roms are saying not to use SetCPU on it for whatever reason. If you know that's the case with the rom you are using, please post!!!)
I know there are other threads asking about the best rom, but couldn't find one specifically for the MYT4G. Thanxx in advance my new smart family.
ANYONE?!!!
To early to tell
Well I'm a FNG so it is to early to tell which is my favorite.
I am happy to report that I successfully rooted last night to CyanogenMod 7 with the help of 1Andrew on mIRC last night (or should I say early this morning). THANKS A LOT Andrew!!! I have the HTC Inspire 4G. Do get me wrong now, I like all the different options that Cyanogen has, but I miss the HTC widgets, Sense, etc now that I'm on CyanogenMod. I'm searching around for something else now to get the HTC stuff back. I can definitely tell that I'm going to be a flashaholic LOL.

Sorry if I'm a novice with the lingo but what is "FNG"? And I was asking about roms for the MyTouch4G. Thanks for the input though Maverick.

Take a look at my newbie guide. Even if you are experienced with #su access. It hits on topics specific to this phone.
and welcome to XDA.

Hi welcome to XDA-Developers, your guides and resources to phone related and much more.. enjoy..ooh the search button can help alot *tip*
I just rooted my phone 2 days ago for the first time from stock gingerbread to cm7.
The ingredients for a successful root/flash:
-Read Read Read. Read the materials associated with your tools, your handset, and the commands needed to make this a successful mod. Read through the tutorials available, go through the different methods and then judge which is right for you, taking into account prep, tools, and your available knowledge. Some are easy, others will usually have a disclaimer regarding difficulty. Don't be discouraged, there's a ton of stuff to get associated with. I jumped balls first and went straight for downgrade, s-off and engineering bootloader (this bootloader may save you later, I suggest you really look into it).
-Understand how to use your tools for the job. You'll see adb, android sdk, fre3vo, gfree and a few other tools of the trade to the task you wish to accomplish. Learn them, learn the commands and the syntax. Inputting commands through the command prompt can seem a little scary considering the potential for disaster but time, patience and perserverance. When in doubt....READ MORE.
-No shortcuts! Learn everything to start, taking the easy way is fast and well....easy. But you won't get the exposure to the tools, commands, or environment you'll be working in. I went through the whole long process of setting up the android sdk just to know what I was getting into. You'll be happy when you hit a problem like getting kicked out of adb shell and knowing what command to enter to jump right back in...
-Follow the directions to a tee. No deviation, improvisation, or imagination. It's the difference between a good mod and an expensive paperweight. When in doubt, search the forums for your answer (and google), if you can't find something specific to your question then ask away.
Good luck and enjoy, you can't imagine how many goodies are waiting for you on this side of the fence.
welcome to the Glacier forums!
after succeeding root access and s-off, there MANY different roms out there. my person favorites would be Sense based roms, more specifically Sense 3.5, and even more specific, RCMix3D by capy. that ROM makes the MT4G BEAST!!

Hey welcome! One bit of advise I can offer is that when you are done fideling with sense...you should really check out the AOSP based Roms. Personally I really dig Faux123's gingerbread nexus rom. Great battery life and performance its cyanogen based so you get all.the tweaks but I find Faux's is.less glitchy. Message me if.you want and ill explain why sense looks nice but runs awful ha

ICS in mytouch 4g
I have been using mytouch 4g from one year. I rooted my device last week using cynogenmod wiki procedure. From last week I am experimenting with ICS: Creamed Glacier, currently in version 4.0. Wifi issues are fixed. ROM is great.

what are the "must haves" for the tf101?

Hey guys I have never owned a tablet before, and finally picked up a tf101 with keyboard for a sweet price on CL.. and I want to give this tablet thing a real fair shot. That being said, I have tinkered around with android cellphones for a while, Im not a 100% noob but not as clever as most of you guys.
anyways I want to cut down on the amount of reading to do and boy there is a bunch , its the same song for every device/vehicle I buy, Purchase product, then spend the next couple months reading your brains off on a forum related to the product. (need to cut down on the reading... gf always on my case lol)
What are the most popular mods, accessories , settings (I will check into all the various kernals and Roms myself) apps. What are some life changing functions I can perform with the tf101 that would make me wish I got into tablets a lot sooner?
pretty much, I like the device and it looks real sleek and cool... just not sure what to do with it now , lol.
thanks in advance
Must have for me - Root - install custom rom - install kernel.
My PERI tool makes this a one-click from latest stock. I highly recommend you skip all the issues people have with stock and go straight to a great rom like ARHD, AOKP, or Megatron. :]
Other - counterstrike mobile, yes
This can be tough to answer because Android, unlike granny smith, has many things to read about and tinker with. I have had the tab for a while and tried numerous different roms and kernels. Each have slightly different responses and it depends on your tinkering desire.
I push my tab to the limits and try to do everything it wasn't originally designed for. Unfortunately....a lot of reading.
At any rate, my life changing functions were very quick access to RDP and VNC to home computers. I can also view my home security video cameras from the tab.
SSH to my phone is another plus for me.
I'm still contemplating attempting to install Linux on the tab as well.

I have it installed in an image loop and up and running fine on my B80 SBK2. It is slow and doesn't have any sound and I can't figure out what to do next in terms of getting a decent speed from it because there is pretty much no information out there other than getting it running. I know decent speed is possible because I had a WebTop phone.

Tell me more on your tether issue. I tether the tf to my phone using built in tether function through the aopk rom. The tablet picks it up just fine. There is a lot of confusion between adhoc and infrastructure mode also but there are a lot of articles on the subject.
Define what you want to do and what way you want the data to flow would help out for a better answer I think.

hey tom, I think I have solved my problem, I applied the suplicant fix that was in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1438297
and it has been working since, I havnt used it too much yet but so far so good
was that what you were going to suggest to me?
My phone is a rooted tmobile vibrant running tmobile web , I dont have a native tether app on this rom and I didnt want to mess with my phone much either. (been over a year since I installed a rom or even wiped, its getting too old for me to want to invest time into it)

I have heard this option many times but for quite some time ago when I was using Wifi tether for root users on the phone I had to select galaxy nexus cdma and netd master so the tablet would recognize.
Now things are becoming different such as the aopk rom and I use them on both the tf and my samsung fascinate. I stopped using the separate tether app since the built in function did all the same things.
I personally suggest a rom like this to make sure your phone and tablet can all peform the same functions.
Glad it worked for you though.

"New User" Intro!!!! The epitome of a Lazy Flashoholic

Hello my name is James. To start I originally had the HTC Incredible which I rooted 2 different times 2 different ways because of water damage replacements :crying: I recently upgraded to a samsung S3 which I think is much more incredible than my incredible I rooted my S3 the first day before it could update and loaded up synergy! I now currently am running Illusion/ Liquid Smooth RC1. I am very pleased with this rom and would love to start posting and getting more active in xda's forum! Unfortunately don't have enough posts to post in development. Its funny too cus I had xda premium app so I could post about 6 months ago and was never able too and didnt know why so I just kinda gave up and would read through the forums instead to fix my problems. Today I tried posting in development on my computer and just realized what the deal is. Id like to submit a certain problem with RC1 that I immediately noticed but can not. Awesome... Welcome to the life of a lazy man with an extreme addiction to flashing custom roms. So to everyone at XDA Id like to say hello!
Please reply so I can get my 10 post ASAP! Id love to enjoy a cyber beer with you all on my day off.

Welcome to flashaholics anonymous I hope your stay is a good one. I haven't went to aosp/aokp but I heard if you do and decide to go back to touchwiz make sure you do a full wipe. Many people have talked about losing data by doing a dirty flash. Something to keep in mind. I'm on synergy and plan on staying here for now, it's my DD.
Ps: don't to forget to hit the thanks button if someone helps you!

BTW, the OG Incredible was, and still is, a beast of a phone. That model is over 3 years old and is still getting Verizon OTA updates. Before I swtiched to the S3, I was running CM10 and 4.1 on a phone with 512mb RAM and 1Ghz processor. The development community for that phone was incredible [heh heh]. SynergyROM is my DD and is phenominal. Great dev support, feature packed for a TW and the Multi-Window is a big plus for me. But it's okay, we all like to flash around here. In the end, find what works for you and mikeman45 is right - make sure to thank people for their hard work and dedication. Have fun!
I'm an HTC guy myself,
HTC Eris, DInc1, Dinc2, rezound, Gnex, Dinc4, DNA(broke), and bought SGIII (which I do love) but am praying the HTC M7 comes to VZW, nothing like having an SGIII for a BACK-UP phone :good:

Yea I have been doing full wipes no matter the circumstance. I just now realized that switching between asop and tw can mess a lot of things up if using backups through titanium. For instance I restored all my setting from a tw ROM to asop and got myself in a nice little bootloop. But I highly recommend the switch especially after 4.2 realese. Beans 9 is a pretty awesome ROM as well!

Yea I still got jellybean loaded up on my old incredible. That phone killed it! I now use it as a wireless upnp music receiver. Awe man I miss multiwindow tho. I might have to make my way back to synergy one of these days. Although with the amazing 4.2 lockscreen idk how soon that may happen...

[Q] Lost in old threads - update on Rooting & latest Android searched

Hi Guys!
as the Infuse 4G slowly gets older it ends up in the 2nd hand market - where I just got mine and now I'm digging into the world of Android!
I was on Symbian (rooted that one) and iOS before and now I'm looking forward to explore the world of Android and xda!
What I'm currently having a lot of trouble with is, to find up-to-date information. Most threads in here started out in 2011 and some in 2012 - so its hard for me to find information specially related to the current settings of the Infuse 4G and how to do things now that software has been updated and new Android builds have come up.
I'm pretty sure some of this information is scattered around this forum (which is super great and I already read through a lot of threads - unfortunately it made me even less sure what to do now) - but I thought it would be a good idea to start this thread as some more people might come up with similar requests for updated, aggregated information...and you guys here are so into the things I hope its not a lot of hassle for you to pull together the things and help me out... I highly appreciate your time and effort!! Many thanks in advance!!
So here is what I have (and below what I'd like to have):
An Infuse 4G, locked and branded to ATT, with the last official release on it: Android 2.3.6 (Gingerbread)
And here is what I'd like to have/to do:
Root & Unlock it (already tried SOC until I found its not working for GB :-/) - which one do I use today?
Get the most recent Android 4.X on it - I read that I can get 4.1.1... that would be great. I don't really care if it is a custom ROM, as long as it does the most things (BT is not necessary, vibrating on silent is as is Play store compatibility)
So I hope you can help me with some links and advice... I'm an Android, but not a computer/windows newbie and feel secure executing proposed steps...
I'd say look fir qkster's Heimdal root package.
After you do that (by instructions) Then look for Andros' instructions for going to JB

That would be awesome!!
I just looked up the Heimdall thingy and wondered a bit as it looks to me like a way to flash things - but don't I need to root the device first?
And after I rooted it, I'd like to find the unlock code (I already found this thread and started to do it yesterday, but then it turned out that the SOC does not work with 2.3.6)...
4.1.2. sounds great - but why did you go back? Did some important functionality not work?
Great help = great forum! thanks for the warm welcome!!
A lot of the Heimdall and Odin packages will root your device along with giving you CWM recovery.
To unlock the device, follow the instructions in the first post of this thread.
To find out more about ROMs and other available tools, head over to the Infuse New and Seasoned Users Thread (INSUT) and the Infuse Super Everything Thread (ISET). There are links in my sig.
And as always, read carefully before flashing.
Thanks everyone!
Wow - great input everybody!
What really kept me finally starting was this thread here..
Now I (rather should say my GF has a unlocked and brand new 4.2.2. by using Beanstalk 1.160.
Only took me an hour in the end, as I finally got it rooted =))
Happy and going to bed now
Thanks again everyone!
