I've heard that bln (backlight notifications) causes wake lock issues on the sII (causing 4-5% battery drain per hour when a notification is active), does it do this for our device too? Does BLN affect drain battery a lot?

Not for me

Never did like it. I got so use to just checking my phone randomly that it just seemed to waste the power it did use.

First time I turned my phone off overnight. It was fully charged when I went to "shutdown." Woke up this morning turned it on and it read 91%. I understand there's parasitic drain and all, but 9% in 8hrs? Heck if I leave it on overnight it only drains about 10%?
Anybody else seen this?

Android phones are never truly off. When you turn it off you are shutting down the radios, screen and putting it in a low power state; but it is not off. If you want no battery drain you need to pull the battery.
Sure, that makes some sense. Basically there's no point in me turning off my phone except to keep the woman happy.
I'm still curious to see if other people see approximately the same amount of battery drain (9%) over 8hrs with their phone off.

You have to turn your phone off to keep your woman happy?
How does that work???

That happened to me once but down to 71 percent in the morning

How about just it or her on silent mode?
i wonder why deep idle is removed in every updated kernel...anyone has the answer...?i think deep idle is one good tweak in saving battery while we close our eyes sleeping..
Because some say it didn't work.. I dont know, because I didnt know what it did before it was removed

is it?i think its work for me...without it, my battery drain quickly like 20 to 30% while in idle mode...i hv to recharge it back after i wake up in the morning...i think one of the problem is the ics 4.0.3 right...bcoz in ics 4.0.1 deep idle seems to be working fine and my battery last 20 hours with it..

Deep idle did Not conserve battery while the phone is inactive - it only reduces power consumption while the screen is off and the phone is playing music, etc.
Have you ever actually read about the function and purpose of deep idle? CpuIdle seems to have replaced it.

Ok, for one deep sleep is where phone should be when it is not used.
I always wanted to ask: whatever happened to this crazy idea of charging the phone when it is on some desk in the house for a few hours?
I am fairly certain you will find your phone is awake when you sleep, doing stuff it shouldn't be doing.
When it is just laying on the desk, a drain of 5-10% /hour means it is not in deep sleep, something on rom or apps is broken. deep idle would not fix that, deep idle may however help mask the real problem that keeps the phone from reaching deep sleep.
deep idle, the way you use it is like buying a can of flat fix for the car tire but leaving the object that still sticks out 2" beyond your tread in the tire, causing continued damage to the tire, it gets you by, but won't last forever and the guy who really fixes your flat will not smile at you once he sees the sticky inside of your wheel.
Anyone else having terrible deep sleep with this phone? I was fully charged and I unplugged it to see how it would sleep because my battery has been dying pretty fast lately and I lost 50% over 6 hours. BBS and kernel tuner says my phone was in deep sleep the entire time too.
Current widget says my phone is only dropping to about 150ma a min while sleeping. It should be 1-5.

Sounds exactly like what mine does.
Battery droped 1% from a full charge over 8hrs but Im wondering of all of these awake stats are pretty normal ? I also used before taking the stock andriod battery stats but BBS was done when I got up.
Why are you even looking at wakelocks when your battery only drained 1% over 8 hours? Do you use your phone at all BTW?

I thought it was already pretty obvious it was left unused overnight while sleeping but I guess not. My bad.
Irregardless of the drain, id like to know if these wake locks are expected.. a few of them have high wake times but never show any blue markers on andriod stats.
I would give it a little more normal run time and then recheck the wakelocks

Is it just me or does the Ambient Display on this device have a pretty high battery drain?
AccuBattery reports 14% in 9 hours screen off drain with 91% of the time being deep sleep.
I'm coming from an S8 where the AOD drain is barely noticeable.
Is this normal or am I missing something?

I just did and will see if that gets rid of the drain. Was just one of the minor reasons to get the Pixel over the Zenfone 6 ^^'

So how did it go?

If you turn the phone face down (or otherwise block the proximity sensor) the screen completely turns off. So it is pretty easy to control when the always on screen is on or off. I turn my phone face down overnight and usually see a 2% reduction in battery over 7-8 hours.
I think with the always on screen on, I see a drop of between 1-1.5% per hour on average. But my phone is also having more notifications and other activity that time of day too which keeps it from deep sleep.
tl/dr - you can leave the "always on screen" setting on all the time. If you don't need the screen and want to save battery, simply turn your phone face down and the screen shuts down completely after about 10 seconds.
Thanks for the input, everyone, I now settled with leaving it on and turning it face down over night or whenever I don't need it.
It just seems that this phone has a significantly higher standby drain than my former S8 in general. Already checking for some wakelocks or other causes for drains with BBS, but maybe it's just normal and I'm being paranoid. It's not an abnormally high drain either, guess I'm just spoiled ^^'
You don't have to put your phone face down. You just need to disable the ambient display and wake it up temporarily by double-tapping on the screen of lifting the phone, whenever you want to check the time or notifications.

I turned off ambient display also and switched over to double tap the screen to see my notifications without pressing the power button or unlocking.
