random rebootd - HTC Sensation

Hi all,
For the last few weeks my sensation has been rebooting without any apparent reason. The paper trick didn't work. Wat todo??! thanks

Are You under clocked at all? If so could be under clocked too much . If under clocked adjust and raise CPU. This should help if under clocking is the issue. If not have you experimented to see if the reboot issue is still present with a different Rom? Do try and see if problem still persists. Hope this helps.
Sent from HTC sensation, soff, 3.33 firmware, viper Rom, sense 4.1,kernel- faux 10b6 , Mugen 3800 mah battery. Please press thanks if I helped in anyway.

Thank you for anwsering. Raising CPU didn't help. Can you recommend me some AOSP roms to try, I don't have much experience with anything other than cm.

I have the same problem, but I tought it is the battery :/

Well, I have seen a lot od posts from people whose sensations reboot randomly but sadly that isn't the case with me.
On the bright side I made a factory reset and a clean install and no problems for now. ;D

[Q] suggestions on getting less heat from phone

im on ARHD 3.6.2 ,
after couple of minutes of playing games but phone is super hot i mean i cant even touch the bottom part of the phone (where the home button etc is at)
anyway i know there are some solutions or think there are solutions ,
i would like to know which one you think is the best?
solutions that i think will help:
1. run the patch to down clock to 1.2 - in mike's first post
2. run the thermal patch on faux kernel's thread
3. change my kernel to bricked kernel
also i got anker battery if its important.
if you have other suggestions it will be really good to hear them out.
I ran the thermal patch and it has worked pretty well for me. I haven't had my phone get as hot as you were describing earlier however, it was uncomfortable to hold even through my case.

Sorry about the delay, it took me a little while to find it again.
Download link below.

Happy flashing!
Edit: Don't forget to clear your cache partition and your dalvik caches. And remember ALWAYS back-up prior to flashing, just incase.

The faux kernels and patch is based on HTC source code for the above patch. The patch you want to use for CM7 can be found at the link below.

you guys might want to download faux clock apk to help with the manual set up of the kernel specs.
just a suggestion. always helps to know exactly what your working with and be in control. its a little more detailed than say oc daemon.
side note: remember to try and uninstall if you have issues in the future trying to flash new kernels.
i will give a try to the thermal patch..
but i dont holds to much hope for it to work...
unless it some miracle patch
my phone getting really hot.. its really weird what is the reason
Would this patch work on the stock kernel?

What ROM are you running?
Edit: Yes, use the top download.
Remember to backup and clear caches before flashing.

What setup do you have? Currently I'm running Android Revolution HD 4.1.3 with faux kernel 0.2.2 beta 2 and I am getting no heat problems like I was when I was running 0.2.1 final. I also have amaze camera, modified bootanimations, EQS, APM, custom battery icon, and the 4G symbols added on. Only thing I did was switch my kernel. The patch helped with the 0.2.1 final faux kernel some but not as much as I would have liked so I switched kernels. I would recommend giving this kernel a try. Link below

No need to cool it down.
If it gets that hot, there is a problem with either sw or hw, it's not normal. So instead of healing symptoms you should look for a cause.
i cant think of any cause,
as my phone worked great before i rooted it and installed ARHD
after i got mike's Rom each time (no matter which version) i ran a game (most likely angry birds) for more then 10 min the phone start to get really really hot.
so.. any ideas? its must be a rom issue which need to be fixed but i got no clue what to do next

Mike's ROM over clocks the CPU and that can result in generating a lot of excess heat. Use the Daemon to put the CPU back to the wake max setting of 1188000.

Android Revolution 3.6.11 HELP!

Hello,
I have mine and my wives sensations s-off and rooted and both running the latest Android Revoluttion 3.5 Roms with beats. My phone is fast and everything works great, apart from very occasional black screen freeze and lock up. Quick battery removal/restart fixes it. But the wives phone lags, freezez, loses WiFi. What should I do to fix it? Tried reflashing the Rom, but to no avail. She wants me to make it s on and remove root. Any suggestions before I do?
Thanks

G'day mate,
As far as I know these problems are mentioned on the ARHD page, if you scroll down the first post, you'll see all the FAQ's, I also had these similar problems in the early stages of learning all about Android.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I super wiped, redownloaded 3.6.11 ROM and reflashed it. So far so good, but its only been less than a day.

Try search it in the fourm there's a 10000000000 case like this but check the md5 for firmware and rom after downloading. Curapted file do that as will check them out with md5 utility.. good luck one last advice try ordroid sense 4 it's the most stable rom....

If it's easily reproducible on an empty (ie freshly factory reset, before you've install your crap) then it would be a warranty job, IMO.
Erasing and repartitioning the sd should solve the problem. vorbeth also had this problem

Thanks Guys... I was wondering and had a feeling that the random reboots were caused by some GPU rendering / utilisation issue because reboots happened most of the time when i either unlocked the phone from sleep or when i browsed the gallery. The rom i used was AHRD updated to the latest and the fact that the adreno 220 was forced by the rom full time was haunting me.
The "strip of business card forcing the batt on its contacts" idea turned out to be a brillian solution. My device became stable with lesser reboots....
I however resorted to reformatting my 32gig class4 microSD and moving only the essentials back last night...
So-far so good. I wouldnt say that its the solution but improved my phone alot..... Worke for me.
SensationXE running stock lernel at the moment.

I also experienced a lot if restarts lately. I don't know if they're reboots, but the white screen with the HTC logo appears and immediately after that the HTC sense is loading. I would have thought that this is "just" HTC sense restarting, but might be reboot as well ... So does this solution apply to my experience as well?

video recording causes reboot

hi i am a nooob and i got htc sensation with stock ics rom and stock kernel.when i try to record a video the phone reboots after a second..
tried flashing another kernel..i tried this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1256668 but the problem still exists..
ANY HELP???????
If the reboots happen with the flash, maybe your battery is dying. Check if it's getting inflated. You can try another ROM, or resetting your ROM

Somethings wrong

Hey guys
My brother got the sensation a while ago, so i took it, rooted, and flashed a new rom.
I also think I updated the firmware because its running ICS(used to be 2.3).
Anyway, the phone is very laggy and slow plus when I get a call most time it reboots.
I flashed cyanogen rom (4.2.2) and through the set up it rebooted.
I wiped every thing before I installed CM.
Has any body experienced this before? any ideas?
Thank in advance m8s:good:

guys after flashing CM10 the phone works great but it over heats a lot and most of the time when I get a call, I answer, it reboots..
Whats the problem with this phone
I don't think it's a hardware issue. You could try a stock ROM or an RUU to see if the problem is fixed. Try clearing the cache and data from the phone app and see if that fixes it.

Before installing CM10, I cleared the cache and date, rest to factory and wiped dalvik cache. I always flash roms on my oneX and DHD but never experienced this problem.
I noticed something, after booting in CM10 for the first time, the prior venom wallpaper was there which was awkward...
could be this the recovery? Im currently using CWM flashed directly from play store.
PLZ help guys this phone is becoming very annoying, almost every call I receive it will reboot
Hmm...I am running out of ideas. I think you need to somehow re-install the phone.apk, but this is coming from a semi-noob. You might need a pro to help you on this.
One more idea... Did you try putting a piece of cardboard by the battery to keep it in properly (although it's only when you open the phone app)

Ill also try the card bored thing because I thing it reboots when I move the phone vertically.
Ill post back when I find the right solution.
Thanks again
Here it is...
As I mentioned in the first post that my brother uses the phone.
Sorry to disappoint you but the problem was from the battery
I dont know how i did not think about it.
I folded a piece of paper and placed it behind the battery and since then it never rebooted
THANKS GUYS!!!!
