[Q] LG P690 help for installing recovery image!! - General Questions and Answers

hello everyone.
m new to this world of rooting & all
i already successfully rooted my lg p690 & want to install recovery image to make a nandroid backup,
plz guide me how to proceed...
thanks

The easiest way, though somewhat dangerous, is to install ROM Manager from the Play store. Do not attempt a backup! Though it works fine for many devices, some devices are bricked by attempting a backup through ROM Manager.
Use it to install custom recovery, then exit the app.
Alternatively, if you have the .img or .zip file of the specific recovery you want to install, use Android Flash Recovery through your computer. It's safer, but you have to download the custom recovery image yourself.

[Q] Can I remove ROM Manager and its recovery lock?

I installed ClockworkMod's ROM Manager v.4.8.0.6 which includes ClockworkMod (CWM) to backup stock ROM on brand new Samsung i9000m.
Problem #1 with ROM Manager
CWM won't install because it does not have verified signatures which my device requires to install it.
I removed ROM Manager and re-booted.
I installed ROM Toolbox.
Problem #2 with ROM Manager
With ROM Toolbox, when trying to backup ROM I get the message:ROM Manager blocked other apps from creating backups in recovery unless ROM Manager Premium is installed.
Once you install ROM Manager Premium you can use ROM Toolbox to backup your ROM. From stock Recovery I wiped and restored, tried all over again with same results. I can reboot into stock recovery, but I cannot backup my ROM.
This is bad. No application should hook into and lock-up your device in such a way that you cannot get it properly recovered, or prevent another application from properly backing-up your ROM.
I have sent emails and tweets to the developer but have yet to receive a reply.
Any help is greatly appreciated as I cannot proceed until I get a full backup, which from the message I am getting, ROM Manager is preventing from doing unless I send money.
you can search google or xda for cwm recovery or amonra and flash it

I have the same problem like catalyst2012. I have searched the net, even bought clockworkmode rom manager premium but then my android (X8) isnt supported so i am in a bad situation. I have also tried to manually install rom manager (and its CWD recovery) but no result. Any help will be kindly appreciated. Thanks.

install recovery mode

Hi guys sorry for my lot questions
but I'm new and I want to descover everything in any thing that I use
okay
now I want to flash a custom rom on my phone(LG OPTIMUS ME/P350)
I learned how but the first step always be to go into the recovery mode when booting up.So I tried but it restore the default android
then I learned that I should install recovery mode(TWRP or CWM)
So I want to know
Is there a special version for every phone??
If so where can I find my on version
if no where can I find the general version for android 2.2.2
Look in the forum for your specific device. I'm pretty sure there will be a guide there.
Recovery mode is different for all phones.
Nice I will search And you ill have a very fast feedback
thnx for quick replay
Is it good
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1080911
thing can I do it Also these steps are using adb
Also What is the kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17499336
how can it help me
A kernel is the underlying process that drives the operating system and manages the resources. Unless you really know what you're doing, I would strongly suggest that you don't replace your current kernel.
The first link looks fine for installing a custom recovery partition. Take note that the install process requires root access to the phone.
You can get root by following the instructions here.
There should be a link somewhere on the forum for you to download ADB. If you can't find it, you can install the Android SDK from Google, it includes ADB.
Ok I will try to try (nice sentence)them today
And wait for the feedback thnx for replays
Other question I want to flash v10f firmware
then root
then install this recovery all that to get root and also availability to flash an Arabic Rom
-is this the right way?
-do you kno any custom Arabic Roms?
Answer please

Custom Recovery flashed, but not working

I recently rooted my LG Optimus one (2.3.3) using the superoneclick method. I then installed ROM manager and flashed the custom recovery successfully. After that, when I chose to boot into recovery, the device booted into standard recovery and formatted my phone. This has been happening ever since and I am unable to boot into custom recovery and am ending up formatting my phone again and again.
Also, when I flashed the custom recovery, ROM manager flashed CWM 5.0.2.0 (LGE optimus one (Old baseband)), but I have been told that my phone has the new BB as it is running stock 2.3.3. Please help me regarding this issue.
Also, I am unaware if this the right place to post this question. could the mods please move it to the right section if I am wrong ?
Thank You

Thank you. I'll try this. In order to run CM 10, is it necessary for my recovery to be from CWM? or is it possible to run CM 10 with an AmonRa recovery installed ?

[Q] How to install Rom in LG P500

Hello need help
LG p500 i want to install this ROM cm-10-20130108-UNOFFICIAL-p500
But need help hou to install the rom?
1st you need to root your phone if you have not done it yet. Then install a custom recovery before you can flash a rom. There are detailed instructions in this forum to help do this. I suggest you read before you try anything which could leave you with a potential brick. If you do decide to go ahead, you'll get all the help here. some reading and full instructions in shinobisoft's thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2149636
Sent from my LG-P500

Back + vol down + power.
Yes. you can copy the rom zip to the sd card and flash through your custom recovery.
Do take a nand backup before you flash the new rom, just in case....no harm if you have a backup right?
Also since you'll need to wipe all/cache/dalvik/data before you flash the new rom, it's better to sync all your contaccts to google / have a contacts backup before you do flash the rom.
There is a well written tutorial here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1986960

The simplest instruction.
1. root
2. instal custom recovery
3. (optional) backup rom
4. read instructions before flasing the rom (requirements etc etc)
5. flash rom
I think you have a froyo rom and you have old baseband. search this section on how to change baseband and how to root froyo.
You will have to read even if its too long if you want to learn.

steps to setup Custom Rom !!!

Hi guys
at first thanks for time you spend to read my problam
i have Samsung Galaxy SL i9003
and i still work on 2.3.6 and i hate it and it's very and super lagy :crying:
i know how to setup stock rom from odin , it's very easy
but i really can't get how setup custom rom
andi don't know any thing about custom rom ,
and hope any one tell me how to do and explan it to me simpely , not good in english
and tell me the best custom rom that i can use it every day and work fine and fast , and get links for me
i speak arabic & i'm not good in english , sorry for my bad english guys
All custom roms for android 4.x have few bugs. So, if you are okay with that, I will suggest installing CM11. It works nice except for few bugs here and there.
But, if you prefer a fully stable rom, you have to stick with android 2.3.6. In that case, I will suggest FlyOnGB rom. Also, you can try doing a factory reset and see if that helps.
CM11: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2534312
FlyOnGB: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2353292
As for setting up odin, you can use it only to install md5 or tar files. nearly all custom rom are uploaded as zip file, and are to be flashed from recovery mode. You will need to copy the zip file to phone, and boot into recovery using Vol Up + Home + Power key. Of course, you will need to root your phone to go into recovery mode.

Custom roms are already rooted, so you don't need to do anything on them. To root a stock rom, you need to flash the cf-root for that particular rom, and then restart the phone. Use this link to download the cf-root file. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331253
To flash the cf-root file, first you need to flash the stock rom, and restart the phone. Then you can use Odin to flash the cf-root just like you flash a rom.
Google apps are your default android apps (play music, maps, google search and such). You don't need these necessarily, as you can download them from play store too. Few roms have bugs with play store apps, therefore they give you modified version of them in that thread.
If you want to flash the google apps, you can do it just like you do it for custom rom. After installing custom rom, just reboot to recovery mode. Now, select the google apps zip file, and install it the same way you installed the custom rom.
If you are stuck, follow the steps from those link as it is. Use this link for more help. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1894737
