Hello guys!
After a while, i digg up this phone from a drawer and I want to upgrade it. So after a lot of time spent to upgrade from 2.2.2 to 2.3.5,
I finally managed with SmartFlashTool to upgrade to V21e, but after successful flash, phone boots up, but battery doesn't charge. I wanted to root the phone, but this also didn't work. Then I downgraded to V21a_00.kdz and successfully rooted the phone with Superuser 2.3.3. But battery still won't charge.
Can somebody please help me to recharge my battery?
I have tried enabling, and disabling USB Debugging option, restarting phone 100 times, install Battery calibration and still nothing.
I have to mention, that on the Android 2.2.2 charging was absolutely fine, so there is no chance of hardware failure.
So, if anybody knows what to try more, or knows about solution, I'll appreciate a lot!
I have looking trough forum, but with no luck, so if I missing something, please point me to...
Thank You all in advance!!!

You Charging via PC using USB port or the Charger?
Does it show it's charging but no current?
Did you try another usb or charger?
How long you leave it in the charger for?
How long was it in the draw and when you left in the draw did you remove the battery?
Do you have clockwork mod recovery installed? If so, you can try resetting the battery stats via the advanced menu in CWM recovery. Also, are you sure the phone isn't charging and its not just a graphic issue with the battery indicator or something? It's possible the battery is in fact charging, but not showing it is. I would downgrade back to 2.2(Froyo) and see if it still charges like normal then maybe try again from there or just use some Froyo based ROMs.
You Charging via PC using USB port or the Charger?
Doesn't matter, tried with two chargers, and two cables, same cable and same charger tested on another mobile, and works perfectly
Does it show it's charging but no current?
Yes, small icon, in top right corner is showing, that charger is connected, but small red bar is not moving towards green
Battery widget is at 0%
but I can have phone power on, it just has to be connected to the cable
Did you try another usb or charger?
Yes, same thing
How long you leave it in the charger for?
5 hrs now, but no change.
How long was it in the draw and when you left in the draw did you remove the battery?
I took it on Sunday night, recharged battery, and use it all week long, until today, when I updated baseband and rom (.fls and .bin)

Yes, I have tried resetting batt status via the advanced menu in CWM recovery, but didn't resolve my problem.
Yea, I'm gonna try to downgrade to Froyo to see does it work there. I am worried about fls file, probably using wrong one?
So right now, this is data from the phone:
Model number, LG-P920
Android version: 2.3.5
Baseband version: L6260_MODEM_SIC_01.1042.00
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7+
Build number: GRJ90
Software version: LGP920-V21a-NOV_15-2011

It might have been damaged due to no charging after a long time and you left it in the phone.

I seem to remember when the first P920's came out that some people had early developer models that refused to charge after being upgraded. Not sure if it was ever resolved, it might be worth checking posts from 12 months back when this issue was discussed.

take off your battery from O3D and charge it by using black and red cables from a usb cable or another phone charger (look for a guide in youtube you dont wanna fry anything) and make sure its 5volt you are using.. after about 1 hour put it back in your o3d ( without thoses cables and tell us if it works now...)

Uh, Yes, this is early developer model
I'll try to find old posts about charging O3D... if You find it please post link!
tnx
I have found some old threads talking about developer models, but I haven't found a working solution.
So, I remember, that when I had operational 2.2.2 i have rooted phone, and installed CWM, and I have backup from this stage.
So, can somebody point me to the right direction, how to try to get back to this stage?
I can flash successfully with Smart Flash Tool, .fls and .bin file, and .kdz file alone. So, I understand, if I want to use Froyo (V10 x) ROM I have to have v10 x baseband.
So, what would be the best procedure, to recover my CWM backup of working 2.2.2 and have my O3D charging, and operational again?

unfortunately, not
it's interesting that when USB cable is connected to charger, phone is Up and running, but remains cold, and when it's connected to USB port of computer, O3D get warm, I took battery off, and tested it with multimer, and it shows 4,17V. So, 1s battery is fully charged at 4,20V. This means, that battery getting current, and small icon in the top right corner recognize that micro USB is connected or not, but battery status does not change, and battery widget says that is 0% battery capacity. As soon I pull out micro USB cable, the phone warns about low battery voltage, and turns off.
I have tried resetting battery trough CWM, but still nothing.
As I said, I have CWM backup of working 2.2.2, but don't know which is exactly procedure to update bootloader + rom.
Should I flash O3D with SFT, and some Froyo package, for example V10I.bin + V10.fls, root the phone, install CWM, and then restore it with backup I have from working 2.2.2???
Please help me, to get back my phone running. It's early development piece, and I would like to use it... I honestly swear that I'll never it update again

Flash samnos partition test bin with lg flashtool.
it has froyo rom for su760 and it works with p920 v21e baseband (tested myself) on p920.
And see if it works.
If battery works with that then upgrade with my bootv21e.bin and see if its fixed.
Bootv21e has all necessary partitions injected including cwm revovery.
If you dont wanna try froyo and only want cwm recovery just flash my bootv21e and it will take you directly to cwm on first boot...

I can confirm, that now it's officially bricked.
I am trying now resurrection guide, but when I connect USB to PC, with Vol+UP pressed, windows recognize that new device is plugged, but second after indicates that device is removed. No OMAP4430 is recognized. I have tried On win8 32, WinXP 32, and Win7 64.
Win7 64 have device OMAP4430 without driver, but there is no WIN64 driver for OMAP4430.
Win8 32 have reocognized device, with driver, but at Connecting O3D without battery, also indicates that device is plugged in, and second after, unplugged. NO OMAP4430 device detected.
And WinXP 32, doesn't recognize OMAP 4430 device at all.
What to do next???

I'm reading the guide all over again, and nothing has changed.
here is summary:
Set of drivers installed:
LGUnitedModemDriver_WHQL_ML_Ver_4.9.7_All_Win7_LGEAll.zip
LGFlashTool
"File"
OMAPFlashInstaller-4.10(2).zip
Scripts
I am working on WinXP right now, and when I connect O3D without battery inserted, OMAP4430 USB Device is recognized by windows, for 1 sec, and then disconnected. At this point, when Windows ask me about drivers, I point drivers to instalation folder of these drivers: http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP920/AVIVML/20110623_05/OMAPFlashInstaller-4.10(2).zip
installed at C:\Program Files \Texas Instruments\OMAPFlash\usb_drv_windows\ In device manager, new device is installed correctly, and it's ready for use. (says windows in balloon tip on the new hardware icon in task bar)
Pull out USB Cable from O3d, and then start "start_fastboot.bat" procedure, choose option 2, and script says:
Optimus 3D selected...
waiting for OMAP44xx device...
Pull battery out, hold Vol+ and insert USB cable into O3D
Windows recognize OMAP4430 USB device for one second, and then sounds like device is removed/unplugged. Script stays at waiting for OMAP444xx device... and never continues...
In time, that windows recognize device connected, and before sounds like usb device disconnected, I set battery into O3D, but still nothing.
Script stays at waiting for OMAP44xx device...
In Device Manager LGE Mobile USB Serial Port is set to: COM41
In LGFlashTool is loaded with LGP920_110622.dll file, and BOOTV21E_AP.bin file, and USB option selected
In LGFlashTool port is set to port1, bot not set to flash, so No yellow sign with READY
Windows Enabler is NOT loaded.
So I can't continue, because script stays at Waiting for OMAP44xx device...
What to do next?
I am trying the same procedure all over again, on different PC's and Operating systems, but always the same result.
In the meanwhile, while I'm waiting the right solution about my problem, I'am gonna to re-install WinXP 32bit just to be sure there are not leftovers of drivers, and install drivers from scratch.
Here are Youtube videos:

These drivers doesn't work for my WINXP. Windows recognize new hardware, I gave for OMAP Device drivers from package, put each time I plug USB into phone, WINXP has found a new driver, and asks me for drivers.. So procedure never begins..
On Win7 64bit I have some more luck. Windows has Found a New OMAP4430 device,
I have point them to drivers come with WKPARKS package,
I started the procedure, and procedure begins...
unfortunately the procedure got error...

Nice work thanks, i'll try soon
Thanks a lot for your work.
2 hours ago I send my phone to repair.... Oh man
Next time please tell me this earlier
But no problem - so in future all O3d users can be sure to have a good method to go back / reset the phone.
And I have no fear to put again clockworkmod etc. on my phone when its back...
Thanks and greez
Is it worth doing this when I am already using the rom you did with clockwork mod with this update on.

Not working here mate,
Followed steps to the letter. Software update (kdz) not responding. Window still open that says
MOD UptestEX MFC Application has stopped working.
I haven't closed the window, underneath Software update log is stuck on Unpacking KDZ... that was 20 mins ago.
What do you think mate? All run as admin all drivers installed, Modem disabled etc. Should I terminate the UpTestEX window do you think?
Not sure what sort of state my phone is in at the moment behind the scenes.
What a game eh?

Terminated updater and phone rebooted O.K..... still on old fw and rooted so not touched I guess?

Nope, restarted PC and tried again. Not going to happen. Followed everything to the last letter. I get nothing in the log after unpacking kdz (when app crashes). Like before I waited 15 mins and no action.
Don't have any XP machines to try it on so I guess I'll just wait for a different method.

so i em stuck until the day (GOD of Android , Linux and Internet willing) some one finds out a way to install / flash a rom to a un-root-ed milestone from the SD card in recovery mode "update.zip" ... or till some one finds a way to sign "update.zip"'s so it will not require root ... or i fined a original signed "update.zip" to fix my milestone's os ... or some one find a way to root from the sdcard a milestone whit no vulnerable recovery installed ...
if i find a way to fix this i'll post a how to about it maybe i have the smarts to develop a way to fix this like i did a hacked Servicebook for BlackBberry so it worked whit standard data plan ...
but i'm a NOOB at android so i have a lot to learn
so till that day comes (if ever) i'll go to the bank and get a lone and buy a
"HTC Desire Z"
thank you every one for trying to help ... XDA -Dev ROCKS!!!!
Did you tried opening rsd lite and look if it recognizes a phone?
And did you download these: http://www.motorola.com/Support/US-...tware_and_Drivers/USB-and-PC-Charging-Drivers

You said that you got the phone secondhand? Is it possible that your USB port is broken? Or was it working fine before the bootloops?

it was working perfectly because i used the usb to upgrade the os from 2.1 to 2.2.1 whit Motorola's upgrade thing . and worked perfectly whit Media Link software ...
but it is possible the usb port o it cud be broken to but hat is what i'm most afraid of because i heard that in my country we cant get parts for the milestone ...
i don't care it the usb port works anymore or not if i can get the phone to work
it took me 2 years to get my hands on a milestone because of monetary constraints and to have this happen ... you know ? ... it jut a phone but still ... it's disappointing ...
i found the OTA update for the droid "update.zip" and try-ed to flash it form the sdcard but no good phone did try but got something about "cud not read the whole signature"
dose a original version of the os or update exist that the phone will accept from the sdcard "update.zip" ?
i try-ed to sing update.zip using Openssl and SignApk but no luck
OpenSSL
openssl genrsa -out key.pem 1024
openssl req -new -key key.pem -config C:\openssl\openssl.cnf -out request.pem
openssl x509 -req -days 9999 -in request.pem -signkey key.pem -out certificate.pem
openssl pkcs8 -topk8 -outform DER -in key.pem -inform PEM -out key.pk8 -nocrypt
SingApk
java -jar signapk.jar certificate.pem key.pk8 update.zip signed-update.zip
Sorry to hear this Well first of all, do not try to flash anything that is meant for droid, as the droid does not have a locked bootloader and the milestone does. Second of all, have you tried doing this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11372663&postcount=51 ? Credits go to person who posted comment

i try-ed the SDL.bat thing but still nothing RSD-lite stil did not find the phone ... and still unknown device in Win7 and still nothing in XP ...
i'll try the nandroid thing if i can find a nandroid backup for the FR retail version
but i think it's useless because i cant get OR to run whit no Vulnerable Recovery
but i'll try any thing at this point no mater how useless
First boot the phone into the bootloader mode by pressing the power button and the up direction of the D Pad.
Once u are in the bootloader mode, u can plug in the USB cable and use RSDlite to detect the phone and flash the sbf file.
That is how me and most other people unbrick our phones when we first screwed up at attempting to flash the G.O.T Milestone update sbf.

May be the usb port is broken or something, did you let your phone fall? may be is not correctly connected to the phone board or the usb cable is damaged you should also try other drivers...
try pressing menu key on keyboard keep pressed and then press power button to try to boot in safe mode

I recalled reading somewhere on the net about RSDlite having problems with Windows 7.
Try RSDlite on another PC with another OS.
Also make sure u install the Motorola USB drivers.

Sent from my LG-P920 using xda premium
I understand nuthin!
I have a totally clean XP 32 Bit, ive installed all the nescessery Drivers, but my ****in O3D loads after vol up/ USB Stick in, NO! CMDA Modem driver, which i must change to Port 41.
Whats wrong?
Silly Baseband flash, the LG Tools sucks like hell, on i9000, with Odin, ive expetienced zero Problems.
But with this sick Omap Bull****.. Pfff
my p920 is dead after an update to ICS with lgflshtool. it is off and there is never started.
I completely lost all the boot. There is an alternative method to omap4boot or os_hacking? they do not work for me.
driver, cable, battery is ok.
the problem is that I can not have in any way the COM port and the LG logo on the display. fastboot stops and gives me errno: 121. no dowload mode in any way. appears only OMAP 4430 TI board.

I can not in any way to see : LGE CDMA USB Serial Port.
tried it on 5 different computers (XP-SEVEN)
Did you uninstall all things LG from programs and features? Did you reboot the PC? Did you run the omap installer? Did you install the LG Drivers? Did you reboot pc again after that? Did you connect, the phone with no battery and volume held up? Did you then force the omap driver to install? Then did you disconnect the phone and reconnect it again with volume held up and let the LG drivers install? Did you then change LG CDMA port to COM 41?
If you did all of that....
With fastboot did you take the battery out of the phone? Did you connect the phone by usb with volume held up, no battery? Then did you let go of the phone? Did you then insert battery when it says 'wait 5 seconds?'
You can do it on 1,000 computers 1,000,000 times but if it is not done correctly it will never work.

yes to everything, BUT NO APPEARS LG CDMA PORT.
I always unzip everything on my desktop. perhaps this could be a problem?
one question:
have you ever had the screen off and no vibration in any combination?
another question:
You write in point f4 unistal OMAP4430.
because you need to uninstall OMAP4430 if it appears in TI BOARDS? maybe that is my problem? seems to me always and only in TI BOARDS!
QUOTE:
f4)Look for "OMAP4430" blinking on and off in Device Manager with a yellow question mark under "Other Devices." (You can let go of the phone). If you do not see it, look for "TI Boards" blinking in device manager and quickly open the arrow. Then uninstall that OMAP4430 (right click, check box to uninstall device and driver, confirm), disconnect phone and reconnect with volume up. Then...
If it has been installed incorrectly in the past, the omap device may need to be uninstalled under TI boards. Then catch it under Other Devices and point it to the right file to reinstall it correctly.
This is only one way to do this that I wrote because it is what has worked for me.
The omap4430 utility Dr. Mario mentions probably helps to do the same thing, but I have not tried it.
one question:
have you ever had the screen off and no vibration in any combination?
After installing cyanogenmod 10 nightly with cwm my battery began to act weird - it showed 0% charge and the phone turned off as soon as i plugged the charger off. I've read that this can be caused by CWM and that i have to install Amon Ra recovery in order to fix it. However, i wasn't able to enter fastboot mode, so i've decided to write the img directly using from adb shell
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p1 of=/sdcard/amonrarecovery.img
reboot recovery
(yes, now i understand that it is dumb, but i wanted to do it faster, without reading all tutorials).
it gave me the error that it cannot write there.
after that the phone won't turn on or enter recovery/download/fastboot mode. the only signs of life - omap 4430 usb device blinking in the device manager(i've installed the required drivers).
as far as i understand - if i'll be able to enter fastboot mode - i'll be able to flash normal bootloader back and install any rom.
But there's no LGE CDMA usb serial port showing in device manager, no matter what pc, cable or key combination(volume up, volume up+power, etc) i use. - it was the same even before i've erased bootloader.
besides when i use wkpark's omap4boot - i get error 121 on the second stage responce (i've tried the EMU version - still no luck)
seems that using OMAPflash is my only option now, but i can't seem to find examples of it's usage. One guy on this forum said that he revived p920 by dumping the firmware from a working p920 and then flashing it back on his device starting from 0000 memory address. maybe someone could upload his or stock firmware obtained this way?
i've tried using LG mobile support tool but it seems not to be able to detect the device (tried holding vol up)
maybe you guys can advice me something else?
PS this is a NOT FOR SALE device, if that changes something
thanks in advance.
Tried to install AmonRa recovery on my phone. No change, still no charging.
