Sandisk Mobil Ultra 64 GB Micro SD card not recognized by Galaxy S III - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Folks:
I am running Cyangenmod cm_d2vzw-userdebug 4.1.1 JR003L eng. 20120915.000012 test-keys on the Samsung Galaxy S III, and recently purchased the above-mentioned SD card. The phone wouldn't recognize it at all, giving me a "damaged SD card" message. I formatted it in the PC, then reinserted it in the phone. I still got a "damaged SD card" message, but was prompted to format the card. When I attempted to do so, the phone would stay in a "unmounting sd card" loop, and would never unmount it nor was I able to format the card.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to a reliable 64 GB SD card for this build? Your suggestions are very much appreciated, thanks so very much in advance!

Shouldn't be the phone unless it is the rom. I have 64 GB Class 10 formatted to Fat32 running in mine since device release.

Same here!

I have the same card class 10 with no issues. Have bought the wife two of them. Both have the error you do. Wouldn't work in my phone either but we can both mount any other SD card. If you cruise the forums you'll see high amounts of complaints about getting bad cards or them going bad fast. Seems to be the way class 10s are. My last class 10 for my bionic worked fine, but everyone else complained about high failure rates. Swap it out at the store for another and hope for better luck.

SD Card Damage. Phone stuck on bootscreen

Connected my USB to my phone to do an update. Computer said there was aproblem reading my SD Card, so I unmounted and got a notification in the Notification bar stating SD Card Damage. When I clicked on it, it gave me only one option REFORMAT SD CARD....hit home went to setting, SD Card and it showed no space available, but there was still 52MB of Memory on the phone.
only option higlighted was Format SD Card. Tried plugging SD Card in my card reader and got same error. So I said screw it. I formatted the SD Card from the selection on the G1 and now when i reboot it stays stuck in the first boot screen. It won't do anything else.
I had JFv1.5 ADP A2SD on the phone.
Thinking I may have to buy a new SD Card and then a nandroid recovery.
Any other suggestions before I do that.

I had the same problem...
was sure i needed a new SD card, but i ended up downloading a sd formatting tool (i think it was from panasonics website)... and that got the card back working, no other attempts at low level formatting, re-formatting, any tries to delete partitions, nothing...
the only thing that finally worked was this SD card formatting tool...
you'll sadly probbaly need to reflash your phone, which i also had to do...
but, I did end up with the 1.5 update....

I have a samsung epic on android 2.1. I used to have the sd card damaged problem. I had to backup everyday for fear of losing information. I saw on one forum a note about upgrading to a Class 4 sd card. I went to frys and they only had class 10 in 16gb (about $40). I purchased and I have not had this problem since!!!
Problem: SD Card error
Problem Solved: Trash the Class 2 sd card that came with the phone and get class 4 or higher.
Woohoo!

MicroSD format problem

Hello guys
I need help with this problem. Recently I bought a 64 GB sd card. When inserted the SD card into the tablet, it tells me that i have to format. When I tell it to format, it does nothing but get stuck at "Unmounting SD Card". I then inserted the sd card into a reader and connected the reader to the my PC. I formatted the SD card with SDFormatter 4. Once the formatting(Overwrite) was done, I then stuck the SD card into my tablet again. Still didnt want to mount the card and requires to format it.
Any one know the problem? And know how to fix it?

Post #106 on this thread explains why Sandisk class 10 cards have trouble while the class 6 cards behave. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1460201&page=11
Is there any other formatting software that will allow me to change the SD card from exFAT to FAT32?

Which card do you have? Sandisk or other? Class 10, class 6, or?
I went through two class 10 cards before I got a class 6 card. I formatted the class 6 card with "FAT32 Formatter" from Ridgecrop and that one has been in use since October of last year.

I got the same error in the past with a PNY 32Gb Class 6, the solution, find a Camera which supports SD (use an adapter) and format the SD from there and Voila!! SD Fixed

Interesting - I assume you're running an MTN GT7+... Does it recognize the entire 64GB as usable? (Just curiosity; I really don't need anything bigger than a few GB in my P6210.)

sd card unable to mount

Hi all,
I recently installed wicked v9.1 rom on my T-mobile Galaxy S3. Prior to that I was running Wicked v8 and everything was fine. I have a 64gb Sandisk sd card and it was working fine until this flash. I put the card in my pc and all my files are still on there and accessible so I backed them up on my PC. Then I formatted my sd card to exfat and tried mounting in the phone again, it gives me the same problem: It says preparing sd card/checking for errors, then it just says sd card is safe to remove. I tried going into settings to mount it but it does the same thing and doesn't offer a format option. I'm not sure what the problem is here since it works perfectly fine on my PC, I even ran a chkdsk /f on it and no errors were found. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
I may not have the same device as you, but I've run into the exact same problem with two of my sd cards. My phone refused to recognize my sd card, even though Windows reported it as working fine. When I looked into the storage info, I was not able to format the card as well.
I tried the non-working memory cards in a few other Android devices with similar results - they were not being read. This led me to conclude that there was something wrong with the card, or more specifically, how Android handled the sd card.
On one of my cards (Generic Brand 1GB), a simple format with MiniTool Partition Wizard fixed the problem. On the other hand, a 16GB Patriot card refused to work after multiple formats (regular and deep). I t was still under warranty though and the replacement works fine.
As a last ditch effort, look and see if your SD manufacturer offers any special formatting utilities.
Hope this helped!

Help with SanDisk Ultra 64 GB Problems

I recently purchased the SanDisk Ultra 64 GB MicroSDXC Class 10 UHS-1 Memory Card for my Verizon Galaxy S3. When I put it into my phone (I am running CM 10.1), it automatically formatted the card to FAT32. Then I wanted to put movies on my card, but I couldn't put files over 4gb on the phone because it was FAT32. So then I formatted the card to exFAT because you could put big files on the card with that format, but my phone said "SD card is black or has unsupported filesystem." I thought that the GS3 supported exFAT? Is it that CM 10.1 doesn't support exFat? I was wondering how to fix this or how I could put these big movie files on my phone.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

This is exactly your problem, don't use AOSP so I can't verify this working, but this should do it.

Format SD Card As Internal Storage Issue

So I was able to format the 64GB SD card as internal storage and it now appears under the Storage menu. However, whenever I connect my phone to the PC to transfer some files to it, I can only see the main memory and not the extra space. So what is the benefit of doing the above if I am not able to use this additional space for files management and media storage?
Anyway I can solve that?
You may have not installed the correct/latest driver. I actually just tried this for the first time and it's the opposite. I could see my 64 GB microSD card, but not the internal storage (and yes, I did format it as internal).
the same for me, i can format like sd card , when I formated like internal storage , display me a warning (slow card) if I wish to continue, I said yes and then tell me damage SD Card .... any help please!!! sorry about my english....
my card is a SanDisk 32gb microSDHC UHS-I Class 10
I have 65 gig formatted as internal on my PC it shows as 80 gig well 74 gig really I also tried 64 gig SD card bought from eBay and told me card corrupt and ended up buying one from reputable company locally and works flawlessly

I had the same issue when I was rooted with S-ON. I have now gone back to stock and all seems to be working fine. Think it's got something to do with security/encryption maybe, I could be wrong but just a thought.

ok... I have root and s-on.... then thats the problem.... thanks....
btw if anyone advanced user have the solution... please.... thanks...
Maybe it's normal
I think it's normal. My unrooted A9 has an SD card formatted as internal storage too. When it's connected to a PC, only "Internal Storage" will be shown because it's merged by the device's internal storage and the SD card together.
You can see the space of "Internal Storage". It should be around 16G/32G (internal) + 64G (SD card).
Hope the above helps.

After trying it a several times and restarting the phone, all I can get now is the internal storage of the memory card. The additional 16 GB of the phone's original memory don't even show
Same **** for me. But my internal shows up as 10 GB?
Hi Guys,
Just installed a brand new Sandisk Class 10 64Gb SDCard and it stuck on 20% for the last 15 minutes, tried to reboot the phone and it got stuck on the white HTC Splash screen, any ideas?
