[Q] Gsnap 2.2 puts me in roaming mode. P509 - Optimus One, P500, V Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
First off, a massive thanks to everyone on XDA. This is the first phone I've messed around with and rather than asking questions in forums all the time, I just googled my problem and it always seemed to take me to this website. In the end, I signed up for an account just to thank people.
However, I've now come to an issue I can't seem to find the answer to.
I've flashed Gsnap 2.2, and I really like it. Its stripped down and my phone runs so much faster. I had to apply the 'bbfix' to get the phone to work, which it does. However, near my signal bars, there is a little "R", which indicates I am roaming. When I go in to SETTINGS->MOBILE NETWORKS-> Network Operators and try to choose my carrier (FREE Mobile), it is not on the list. However, under SETTINGS->MOBILE NETWORKS-> Access Points, it show me connected to a FREE APN.
The phone is a P509 (ex T-Mobile phone), rooted, Gsnap 2.2 Finale. Carrier is FREE Mobile (in France - Paris to be exact). I see 3 other mational carriers, but not FREE. I was able to see FREE before with the stock ROM. I have used this phone in several countries with several carriers with no issues.
As a side note, on the lock screen, it does confirm FREE as my carrier.
Is this how it should look?

Should be fine. Could free be a subsidiary of another company like my carrier? Koodo is a subsidiary of telus. The lock screen shows telus but my apn is koodo. Just make sure data roaming is not checked.
If you want to be sure all is good, download tweakker from play store and it'll have your correct apn.
sent from my lg p500h that thinks it is a p690 with xda app and stuff

Phone ALWAYS roaming - driving me nuts!

Hey guys. This is a last attempt at fixing this very annoying problem. All the searches I have done don't seem to leave anywhere. So here's the situation:
I bought a Chinese clone phone (Sunno HDi - clone of HTC T8282). The phone comes with WM6.5 [5.2.23037 (build 23037.5.3.0)]. Overall the phone works great, and I have done a couple of YouTube videos on it.
But anyway - the really annoying problem is that from day 1 the phone has always shown that I'm roaming. I always get the little roaming triangle, which in turn makes several applications complain about roaming charges, blah blah blah. From my understanding, roaming is a feature of what's stored on the SIM card, and the info being pulled in from the tower. I have my T-Mobile SIM card in the phone, and I put up all T-Mobile networks I could find on the top of my preferred network list. What am I missing?
*Any* help will be greatly appreciated!

That option in Verizon updates the PRL on the phone (preferred roaming list), which is a feature of CDMA phones. GSM phones do not have to do this. Well.. they should not have to... In either case, there isn't such an option on T-Mobile. That's why I'm wondering if this is something hard-coded in the ROM.
Thanks for the tip, though. Every little bit helps in getting rid of this annoyance!

When I signed up my Sunno today with T-Mobile, I spoke with the representative about T-M's lack of coverage in my state which is one of the largest. While the competitor ads make T-M's 3G coverage look small, their actual coverage is probably about double that but still considerably smaller than most other carriers'.
The rep said not to worry as T-M has standard cellular agreements with the other carriers to allow phones attached to T-M to roam. He said that depending on where I live or travel, I could probably see the roam signal quite a bit but not to worry about it because I am on T-M's prepaid plan and roaming means no increase in my per minute charge.
To tell you the truth, I could care less about what symbol is displayed as long as I have cell coverage.

Help, in addtion to unlocking iphone

I found an 8Gb iphone on the bus, in australia, with no sim, I'm pretty sure it was originally a "3 mobile" carrier the model on the back says it's A1241, model in the "about" tab-mb489x. Originally it was a firmware version of 3.1.3, however I've jailbroken it and unlocked it with blackra1n and I've put in my telstra prepaid sim, I'm getting no signal.
I've tried my friend's optus locked iphone sim and again no signal. Is there an application I can download to enable my phone to read or pickup the 3g signal in Australia? In the "about" tab, it says there no carrier listed and also I can go into "network" and enable or disable 3G and Data roaming.
Hopefully I've supplied enough information so someone out there can give me a hand with my issue. I would greatly appreciate it, your friendly neighbourhood bear.

[Q] p509 on Wind Mobile

After taking a long time to arrive from Hong Kong, I tried putting my Wind SIM into the Optimus T but it would only go onto GPRS on Wind Away (Rogers). The settings said the phone was a p500, but after checking behind the battery, it really was a p509. I tried multiple methods of getting the 3G to work, such as flashing the branded T-Mobile ROM with KDZ, applying the old baseband and adding a Wind APN, but nothing worked. When I force the phone to go onto WCDMA, it cannot find the network. In addition, with the T-Mobile ROM, it does not say that I'm roaming when I'm on GPRS, like it should.
I scoured the forums for other answers, but haven't really found anything that helps. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Might help to say where your located since Wind doesn't cover all of Canada and if your not in Wind coverage zone then you will be stuck to roaming on Rogers 2G network.
I am in a Wind zone, as I receive nearly full bars of 3G from my Nokia 500. I originally bought the p509 to learn about Android development, but having 3G would be nice (the Nokia isn't that great of a phone ).
UPDATE/ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
-I have flashed mik's CM7, and the phone displays that it's roaming on the Rogers network (still on GSM, EDGE)
-My IMEI is displayed, as well as my phone number, but when I tried calling it from a different phone, it just says that I'm unavailable. It's only later on when I get a text message saying that someone tried calling me
-With the SIM card inserted, the Wind APNs for MMS and Internet are already added
-I was starting to suspect it has the wrong motherboard in a T-Mobile casing, but a production sticker on the inside indicated that indeed it was a 509
-LGMDP shows that the phone is using the old baseband (V10s), and is a p509
Any help is welcome, it's driving me insane since I can't seem to find the problem.
I have a mobilicity sim running on P509
do you want to try my sim on yours
or your sim on my phone?
where about are you? I am in burnaby bc area
Sorry, I'm in Ontario... I might ask a friend to try their Wind SIM in my phone and see if it works, but it probably won't. But I still don't understand; software-wise, everything seems fine.

[Q] LG MS910 ZVD to ZVE update lost data service

First allow me to say that I wish my first post was not a question, but a helpful comment to someone who needs it...yet trouble has found me and I can't seem to figure this out on my own and really need someone who has the skills and experience.
I know the phone is OLD and should be retired as it is nearing the EOL of its' technology, but I just can't afford to spend the money on a new one right now.
History of the phone is:
Bought new in late 2011, carrier Metro PCS, rooted on the second day of ownership.
Rom'd on the third day with GSE, used that for a while then went over to Black Plague.
Used phone this way for the entire time.
Always kept drivers installed on my Windows PC, 7x64.
A little over a week ago I had some driver issue which caused me to re-download the drivers. After I re-installed them I connected the phone and ran the LGMST. It brought me from the ZVD to ZVE without incident.
Phone has not had data service since.
I phoned Metro PCS distributor help line at 800 901 6266 and spoke to someone who tried to help a bit. They did an OTA push then had me try to re-provision the phone with the *228, no go...
I checked through the web for help, reading many posts about APNs, using Any Cut, located my access pin for the service menu. (didn't make any changes for fear of making things worse)
Then I brought the rooted phone into a Metro store I frequent and asked one of the associates who does this stuff on the side to help me out. He spent about fifteen minutes with the phone and told me he couldn't figure out why it wasn't working.
When I got home, I emailed PG about the issue hoping he could offer some advice. He told me to try TOT downgrading. He provided a few links and I set out to DG with TOT.
The LGNPST didn't install. (received error code 2203) tried a couple other downloads of the LGNPST but all fail with the same error. (I am admin, took ownership of files, edited security of folders as described in some forums from Microsoft about the error code and even tried letting windows install with compatibility settings, but darn thing just won't install)
I then figured I'd try un-rooting and a factory reset. t un-rooted fine and reset to stock, but still not an iota of data 4g,3g, or 1g to be found. (everything else works fine)
I then re-rooted the phone and tried L-Drifta's rom for ZVD Number Two.
It installed fine and works good, except for YouTube force closing all the time, but still no data service.
Does anyone have any idea what happened to this phone? If not, then how about someone helping out with how to manually program the radio part of the phone for service.
Thanks to everyone
CDMA Only selected
Update - - -
So I mustered up the nerve to mess with the network settings in the Metro hidden menu and changed it from CDMA & LTE Hybrid mode to CDMA only and have 3G back, but when I change it to LTE or keep it in Hybrid Mode I loose all data service.
I know I shouldn't keep playing around with the settings, but I just can't leave it alone now that I made some progress. It's like a gnat that I gotta keep swatting until it is gone for good.
Anyone have suggestions for getting my 4G service back?
LG MS910 losing 4G and switching to 3G then no data at all!
Device: LG MS910
Carrier: MetroPCS
Issue: No data
I have a cardinal rule with my phone: "Never use WiFi". WiFi networks are bay nature unsecure. I went to Starbucks and decided to connect to WiFi since I only had 1 bar. The area had poor network coverage.
Now my phone starts in 4G, goes to 3G, then no data after that. 5 minutes later the 3G returns. Data speeds are ZERO!
I've been with Metro long enough to know 1xRTT is faster than ZERO data. Did I get an sms trojan? Is MetroPCS messing with the network with no notification to customers?
For data, the LG MS910 has CDMA (1XRTT, EDVO) and LTE (4GLTE) radios. Why is the 3G icon appearing? The LG MS910 on MetroPCS technically isn't capable of T-Mobile's HSPA+ which uses a GSM signal. Regardless if T-Mobile and MetroPCS have merged, T-Mobile is a GSM carrier and therefore MetroPCS customers wouldn't benefit from T-Mobile's HSPA+ network anyway.
Bottom line: Something isn't right. Any ideas?
Anxiously awaiting the bloatwarefree Nexus 5.

[Q] Droid MAXX with T-Mobile SIM - no APN data, at all?

Ok, so I got a Droid MAXX yesterday and it's a great phone - downside is the one I got had Android 4.4 on it so there goes any potential for doing some experimentation with it, and while I realize I could do that Chinese unlock thing (does unlocking the bootloader provide for being able to root/etc, I don't know for sure just yet, still doing the research), I suppose I may just keep this one for a while but, if someone offers me the right price it'll disappear like dozens of other devices and smartphones.
Anyway, I'm going to move my T-Mobile service to it (the $30/month 5GB plan we all love so much and pray doesn't disappear anytime soon) over the weekend but at this moment what I've used a completely new T-Mobile nanoSIM (my current one is a microSIM) in the MAXX and it'll connect as expected: I make the adjustment from Global to LTE/GSM/UMTS in mobile networks and it's fine, shows LTE and it'll connect with the T-Mobile website and yes it's damned fast.
However, when I go to look at the APN data it's blank. I mean totally blank, as in there's no APNs listed whatsoever but it's connected to T-Mobile and using LTE too as shown using Phone Info (the installed APK) but there's no APN data.
On top of that it doesn't offer the option to add an APN either - the + mark that typically is there next to the menu button top right corner isn't there, and when I use the menu option all I get is "Reset to default" which does nothing at all, of course.
So, am I missing something here or is this happening because the nanoSIM I'm testing this with is unactivated - I ordered it from T-Mobile recently because they were free with free shipping and so I'd have one or two around just in case I needed one.
Kinda baffling to me but there's just no APN data and I can't add new ones. If I put the original Verizon nanoSIM in it of course it'll show Verizon APNs (like a dozen of them, oddly, but that nanoSIM is deactivated anyway).
Was just curious, and I did try to find more info about missing APN data but wasn't successful in locating any other threads or members asking or having the same issue.
If anyone has any advice or suggestions I'm open to hearing them. Most likely it will end up being because it's a completely new unactivated nanoSIM but I figured it can't hurt to proffer the question anyway.
Thanks...
<my 777th post... come on 7!!!>
You should be able to add a APN once you activate the Sim... At least that was the case with my droid mini I'm using on H2O
