[Q] flashing clockword doesn't work - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hello,
i'm i9300 and latest version of system updated, its odd that i can install clockwork (i9300GS3CWM6.0.1.2.tar) but when i reset to recovery, it goes to android stock recovery, any ideas?

Need to move to I9300 forum. This is I535. Must be rooted and there is a mod that has to be done or something turned off. I don't use CWM so no help here.

It's because of the two scripts that have to be renamed. If u have root use root explorer and rename these two files:
System/recovery-from-boot.p
System/etc/install-recovery.sh
Add
. bak to the end of these two files and then re flash the cwm tar, it will stick after doing so. Good luck

[Q] Flashing CWM onto rooted SGS 4G

Hey. So I rooted my T-Mobile SGS 4G (stock 2.2 firmware) with SuperOneClick. That was super easy, I tested it out with a few utilities and I definitely have root.
So I went into rom manager and pushed the button to flash clockwork mod. It asked me for superuser status, said it was successful, but then it boots into the stock samsung recovery. I've tried this several times and I always have the same result. I'm sorry if there's an answer on this already but I'll be damned if I could figure out how to search for it without coming up with a bunch of unrelated problems.
Thanks!
Try going into clockwork and choosing boot to recovery then after that if it goes into stock recovery choose reinstall packages sometimes you have to choose reinstall twice. That's how I got mine into cwm first time

Oh no that's the problem, I can't get clockwork to boot. No matter how many times I install it using the installer inside rom manager, the stock recovery boots up.
ROM MANAGER DOES NOT WORK. USE KRYLONS CWM FINAL IN THE DEV SECTION.

Yea I no, but wen u boot into it you get the stock 3e recovery and there is an option to reinstall packages
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
You need to download krylons modified recovery.bin file and use a file explorer app to push the file to system/bin. You need to also have the file update.zip on the root of your SD card. Then you boot into stock recovery and choose reinstall packages. This will boot you into cwm.

Nothing is working.

I cant get my sidekick to flash anything. First off, I have rooted it using 2 different methods and Android Commander wont say it has root access so I cant push the Recovery binary file.
I have a few different roms ive been dying to try but everytime I flash them I get soft bricked at the samsung screen. I cleared the data and made sure it matched everything posted but still no luck because of the binary.
I have Odin'd back to stock KD1 2.2.1. Please point me in the right direction, I cant even ADB push it because its saying no root access but I clearly have SU on my phone, and I also tried downloading both busyboxes and rom manager.
You have this posed in the wrong part and what cwm do you have red or orange

Please search next time.
also, please note that this is a FAKE FLASH, which means that when you reboot into recovery, it will look like a stock recovery until you press the "reinstall packages" button.
I am having the same issues as you cwm doesn't even work have the time only rom that I can get half way working is clean fusion v3 other roms I have tried
Gingerclone v2 and 1(got soft bricked)
Smooth maximus x (got soft bricked)
Clean fusion v3 (working szo far)
Also in cwm I can't even do a reset without it hanging at formatting android.secure nor can I do an nandroid backup with out it faling on backing up boot image
Any help at all?

Im not too sure about all this yet, but one I downloaded the recovery binary file I extracted that, put that on my sd card then moved it to the /system/bin folder using Root Explorer and that fixed any problems I had.
As for clockwork, just install it from the 2nd link here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124453)
put that in your SD card, hold power up vol and down until you get to recovery then install packages then go from there, just make sure you unmount the sd card from CWM.

[Q] NOOB: How to flash ZEUS to my Infuse?

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong:
a) ATT Infuse Phone is rooted using SuperOneClick;
b) downloaded ES File Explorer and ROM Manager;
c) ZEUS Build 3 zip file is in root folder of my sd card;
d) backed up everything with Titanium Backup;
e) placed the 3e recovery no sig check recovery file into my system/bin folder;
When I try to reboot into CWM recovery, it goes into the "blue" 3e Android recovery. When I install packages, I get an error message.
Then when trying to flash ROM through ROM Manager, I cause a Samsung bootloop, and have needed to flash back to Odin to unbrick my phone.
Is my problem related to the fact I'm flashing from stock froyo? Do I need to change the kernel (not sure what this means) prior to flashing the Rom? Why can't I get the CWM bootloader instead of the "stock" blue Android screen?
thanks in advance - sorry, am a newbie and this isn't my thing.

Is it normal when I flash GTG's community kernel, that my phone starts talking to me and saying something about 10 minutes?? It just scared the #$# out of me, and has been sitting in the Samsung boot screen for a few minutes.
Holy #@$$, that voice is scary. It looks like the kernel worked...
Freaked me out the first time too lol

You need to install the community kernel, then download sgs kernel from the market and install. I had this same problem and this was the answer! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1220090
Follow these instructions and make sure you download this http://www.multiupload.com/1E3AWIQYAA if your coming FROM froyo.
Move the file to your internal sd card, then use sgs kernel to install. The sgs was a little tricky, but you'll see the file in there to flash.
Hey thanks for asking DroidNooby! I was searching the forums for "bootloaders" because the Zeus thread said "MUST BE ON GB BOOTLOADERS." All I found was a bunch of people sounding as confused as I was asking "how do i install?"
I was beginning to think it was an inside joke of the Infuse forums lol.
Odin one of the gb leaks (that'll give you boot loaders). Then odin a gb kernel with a recovery. Uncheck reboot before flashing kernel. Then boot up into recovery and flash.

[Q] Different versions of CWM

I originally used Odin to flash CWM using the file listed in one of the main threads "SkyrocketCWMrecovery.tar" found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340526
It seemed to work fine, but when I started flashing ICS ROMS, I kept getting boot loops. I then read that people were having success when using the following CWM version, so I flashed it: CWM 5.5.0.4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1570498&page=16
I was able to install the ICS ROM successfully, however, I am not able to complete a nandroid backup now for some reason. They just keep hanging and never completing. So my questions are:
1) Now that I have CWM installed, how do I actually put the phone into download mode so I can use Odin to re-flash the original CWM above ?
2) Or do you have a CWM flashable zip that I can revert to or upgrade to so I can complete a nandroid.
3) I completed 2 nandroid backups prior to changing to the v5.5.0.4, but since have not been able to. Can you think of any reason why this might be i general ?
Thanks a lot !
u can odin back the skyrocketcwmrecovery it use rom manager under market to install. diwbload mode is simply turn phone off, then hold volume up while insert usb cord hooked up to computer, and wait.

Do this again. It will get you back on 5.0.2.6 to be able to do a backup.

I found this custom version of CWM by sk8erwitskil, and have had better success with it than the default. It does seem that everyone's mileage varies on this, though

If you are having problems creating a nandroid. You will need to put a file .hidenandroidprogress into your /clockworkmod folder.

Questions about stock 4.0.4

Hi everyone. I want to update my galaxy tab 2 P3113 to official 4.0.4 . I have some questions. This rom can be rooted? If yes how to do this? Can i install CWM Recovery?
Geez, I have the same question... Guess we can´t use expresso_recovery method, better not to risk and wait for a solution anyway...

Im agree with you. Waiting is better
I used "expresso_recovery" but it did not work right. The tab just looped the boot image. It did install CWM and I used it to load stock image and then move to CM9 again. I want to run the OTA 4.0.4 stock image rooted, but I think we need help from the devs.
I updated yesterday to 4.0.4 flashed cwm through Odin and then installed root file through cwm same files I did for 4.0.3 and everything works fine. Actually even better cause when I flashed cwm on 4.0.3 I didn't have the Amin. in cwm that I do now.

I odin'd back to stock just to take the ota update. I re-rooted using the same method I used for 4.0.3, but managed to increment my custom flash count a few extra times...Reason is because of the /system/etc/install-recovery.sh script.
If that file exists on the factory firmware, and you have a custom recoery installed, it will overwrite your custom recovery with the stock recovery at every boot. The way around it is to check for the existance of that file and rename it or erase it, or, as in my case, I flashed TWRP and used it's built in file manager to mount /system and rename the file before I booted, once I realized why the recovery was reverted to stock.

Or pervert it for your own... uh... perversions. Most of the custom ROMs support an init.d function that lets you install scripts that start at run time. Tools like System Tuner can also put their stuff in init.d if you have it. The stock ROM (like most stock ROMs) does not have it. Using the install_recovery.sh file, you can add it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1772616&highlight=init+d
