[Q] NOOB: How to flash ZEUS to my Infuse? - Samsung Infuse 4G

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong:
a) ATT Infuse Phone is rooted using SuperOneClick;
b) downloaded ES File Explorer and ROM Manager;
c) ZEUS Build 3 zip file is in root folder of my sd card;
d) backed up everything with Titanium Backup;
e) placed the 3e recovery no sig check recovery file into my system/bin folder;
When I try to reboot into CWM recovery, it goes into the "blue" 3e Android recovery. When I install packages, I get an error message.
Then when trying to flash ROM through ROM Manager, I cause a Samsung bootloop, and have needed to flash back to Odin to unbrick my phone.
Is my problem related to the fact I'm flashing from stock froyo? Do I need to change the kernel (not sure what this means) prior to flashing the Rom? Why can't I get the CWM bootloader instead of the "stock" blue Android screen?
thanks in advance - sorry, am a newbie and this isn't my thing.

Is it normal when I flash GTG's community kernel, that my phone starts talking to me and saying something about 10 minutes?? It just scared the #$# out of me, and has been sitting in the Samsung boot screen for a few minutes.
Holy #@$$, that voice is scary. It looks like the kernel worked...

Freaked me out the first time too lol

You need to install the community kernel, then download sgs kernel from the market and install. I had this same problem and this was the answer! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1220090
Follow these instructions and make sure you download this http://www.multiupload.com/1E3AWIQYAA if your coming FROM froyo.
Move the file to your internal sd card, then use sgs kernel to install. The sgs was a little tricky, but you'll see the file in there to flash.

Hey thanks for asking DroidNooby! I was searching the forums for "bootloaders" because the Zeus thread said "MUST BE ON GB BOOTLOADERS." All I found was a bunch of people sounding as confused as I was asking "how do i install?"
I was beginning to think it was an inside joke of the Infuse forums lol.

Odin one of the gb leaks (that'll give you boot loaders). Then odin a gb kernel with a recovery. Uncheck reboot before flashing kernel. Then boot up into recovery and flash.

Search for modded 3e recovery, there's a video in the devolpment section how to implement it. Then download rom manger, flash recovery, choose i900 then reboot into recovery. If its still the stock recovery select reinstall packages and ban its there.
Or use this odin and 3e will be there, then do the rom manager part. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=

Are you rooted?
Personally id just do it with thw odin link I gave you. Back your apps up with titanium backup and your contacts via gmail. Then after you flash it with odin restore apps and install rom manager. Flash clockwork mod, select i9000, then reboot into recovery. Then if its still the stock recovery select reinstall packages then bam its done.

Hey, not to hi-jack, but im having some issues as well... I went with the rom manager method and after downloading the Infused ROM and trying to get into CWM, i hit reinstall packages and still get the blue text... Not sure what to do and am worried about messing something up.
The error i get is:
E: Can't open mnt/internal_sd/update.zip
(No such file or directory)
Installation aborted.
Please help! feel free to PM me as to not hi-jack the thread although it is related

Same error as well? What ROM are you trying to install?
just put a cwm (red) Voodoo kernel in the pda slot in odin and flash in download mode, this is a shorter way than the 3e mod
also if you are already rooted then just flash with sgs kernel flasher. really easy!

i just posted a shortcut to get cwm, but if you already have 3e modded and rom manager you need to go into rom manager and "flash cwm recovery" choose i9000 but not the mtd version. this will put the update.zip on the sd card. then reboot and reinstall packages twice. it wont load cwm the first time, also
I do have 3e and ROM manager. So i'll try this out and see how it goes! thanks for the help Dani and vthonda as well! Going to have to give this a shot in the morning though... wont be able to sleep if something goes wrong...lol.

Need help flashing.

Im having trouble flashingbthe serendipity rom on my Infuse. Im rooted, CWM, superuser, but for some reason I cant flash it in recovery mode. CWM wont show . I only get samsungs recovery blue screen. I need help pls. I know there is something Im doing wrong. Any help wud be apreciated. Thnx! Noob here.

Hey man, are you successfully booting in to CWM recovery, or are you getting the Samsung recovery screen?
It boots me into thesamsung recovery screen, not cwm. Thamx for the reply.

In that case, you'll need a modified 3e file in order to get CWM up and running instead of Samsung recovery: Modified 3e Tutorial
I tried the modified 3 e file. I renamed it and and copied it to the root of the sd card.. Reboot into recovery and selected reinstalled packages once.. It gave me the error of saying the file does not exist on mnt/internal_sd card selected reinstall packages and same error. No luck here been trying it for days. Thnx for the reply.

Find and follow the ultimate unbrick instructions. It'll get you rooted and have cwm.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997R using XDA Premium App
are you using Rom manager to get CWM
if so, i have noticed that i have the same problem unless i do everything twice, including the install CWM portion.
i have install CWM 2 times, the reboot into recovery and install packages 2 times to get to the CWM Recovery.
otherwise yes i would say just flash the Ultimate Unbrick and get into it that way.
I did use ultimate unbrick.. supposedly to go back to stock. Some file from serendipity infused rom are still on my phones, cant get rid of it. And now the base is uckd5.. what dies that mean. I did partition when doing ultimate unbrick.. and do I have to root again? Confused here. Thanks for the reply.

.......infuse.....Infused....infusion.........
You forgot to adjust the permissions of your new recovery file.
then dont use the Ultimate Unbrick, use another back to stock method. i use gtg's other Md5sum with odin to flash back to stock after i use the Ultimate unbrick because the ultimate unbrick does not allow unsigned packages, so i run the Ultimate then i Run his other Back to stock to get past the unsigned error and Flash the Update.Zip that Rom manager makes to get into CWM......
after that i just WIPE and FLASH like crazy........lol
if i get hung up i just rinse and re-use.

you just go to install zip from SD card, then select choose zip (maybe those are in reverse order - i'm not in recovery right now, so this is just from memory, but you should get the gist), then find where you saved the serendipity zip on your SD card, select it, go to yes... and that should be it, assuming you are coming from stock froyo.
I went to install zip from sd card but I dont see the S7 zip file. I did copy it to the root of the sd card cuz when I reboot back to system I see that its there but not when I try to install it from sd card in cwm. Hmmm anyone.. Help.

Opening update package...
E: cant open /sdcard external-sd/S7.Infuse 8.26 zip.

Installation aborted.
What am I doing wrong? Anyone? If I reboot into recovery I still cant find S7 Infuse zip. I know its there but doesnt show up. All I see is update.zip

[Q] Flashing CWM onto rooted SGS 4G

Hey. So I rooted my T-Mobile SGS 4G (stock 2.2 firmware) with SuperOneClick. That was super easy, I tested it out with a few utilities and I definitely have root.
So I went into rom manager and pushed the button to flash clockwork mod. It asked me for superuser status, said it was successful, but then it boots into the stock samsung recovery. I've tried this several times and I always have the same result. I'm sorry if there's an answer on this already but I'll be damned if I could figure out how to search for it without coming up with a bunch of unrelated problems.
Thanks!
Try going into clockwork and choosing boot to recovery then after that if it goes into stock recovery choose reinstall packages sometimes you have to choose reinstall twice. That's how I got mine into cwm first time
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
Oh no that's the problem, I can't get clockwork to boot. No matter how many times I install it using the installer inside rom manager, the stock recovery boots up.
ROM MANAGER DOES NOT WORK. USE KRYLONS CWM FINAL IN THE DEV SECTION.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
Yea I no, but wen u boot into it you get the stock 3e recovery and there is an option to reinstall packages
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
You need to download krylons modified recovery.bin file and use a file explorer app to push the file to system/bin. You need to also have the file update.zip on the root of your SD card. Then you boot into stock recovery and choose reinstall packages. This will boot you into cwm.

[Q] Thought I Rooted My Infuse...

Just received my Infuse 4G and I think I rooted it, but I can't bring up the regular recovery menu (install zip from SD card, etc.). I have Superuser and ROM Manager, but when I reboot into recovery, the standard menu does not show up but another one with totally different choices. By the way, when I installed CWM it didn't have the Infuse as a choice for devices. Did I skip a step in the rooting process?
Choose i9000 in Clockwork.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
That did not work.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
It makes an update zip.... You take it and put it in the sd root after you rename it update.zip. Then you have to have a modded 3e recovery file that you replace the original with in system/bin/. Then go into recovery, reinstall packages. Bam, clockwork.

Are you stock rooted? or custom ROM?
If you are rooted use SGS kernal flasher and flash a custom kernal that will give you recovery easiest way i think

Or Odin/Heimdall a custom kernel in download mode - don't even need root for that.
And don't use ROM Manager - it just causes problems on our devices since it insists on using a crippled recovery that isn't compatible with Voodoo Lagfix.

stuck in bootloop and other subsequent issues

Well, I attempted to use SGS kernel flasher to install the infuseGB kernel. Now I'm stuck with a bootloop and I need help fixing it.
Anyways, Odin confuses the crap out of me. I put my phone in download mode but all odin does is light up a box with com3 in it. I've reinstalled drivers but I'm not sure what to do next.
All help is appreciated.
I had a similar issue after flashing a kernel that way.
What ended up fixing the boot loop was using Odin to flash the stock Rogers kernel.

I'll try that if I can:
A: figure out how to use odin properly
B: find the stock AT&T kernel
This has turned into one big mess.
Well, I figured that out.
Now what is the proper way to flash a kernel from bone stock?
I'm rooted.
I'm installing 3e recovery.

There's three ways...
1. SGS flasher (obviously not working for you)
2. Flash from recovery if kernel is in a zip file
3. Flash through Odin or Heimdall
Remember to flash a GB kernel you must first be on a GB rom!

Ok, I think this is my problem. I'm not on a GB ROM I don't think.
I've got the kernel in zip format. Should I install, say for example, the doctorz ROM and them flash the kernel?
My cwm recovery is dark green, will I still be ok?

download the attatched kernel zip
Open SGS Kernel Flasher, select choose kernel, select the file you downloaded, and select flash kernel. Your phone will reboot and begin to enable Voodoo lagfix. Let it do that and boot all the way up. It will take a while (5-10 minutes) because it's converting all partitions to ext4.
Download chosen rom zip and place it on your internal SD card.
Power off your phone.
With the phone powered off, hold both volume keys and the power button for about 10 seconds and then release. This should boot you into RED CWM.
Select "install zip from sdcard" and select chosen rom zip.
Once that finishes, select "wipe data/factory reset".
Select "reboot system now".
once rebooted sgs flash the any GB kernel you want, remember to read and make sure which ever kernel your choosing is GB or Froyo
I flashed it, and thankfully it didn't bootloop. However, my cwm is still green.
Scratch that, we are in the red now! You are a king among men.
