There is WAY too much whining and crying going on in this forum over the G2X.
Just wanted to get that off my chest.

I'm going to stop, and just try to enjoy my very fast and nicely designed phone.

My point is that this community is here to help each other get the most out of their technology. There are many of us who sincerely attempt to answer questions and help people troubleshoot, not to mention the developers that put in long hours making these phones more useable.
But I've been reading post after post and thread after thead of just whining and its downright childish and non-productive.
If someone has an issue with their phone then let them post and ask questions and contribute to the overall conversation we're all having. All of this self-entitled nonsense about how bad we've ALL been screwed over and how we deserve this and that is uncalled for.

I agree completely with this.
It really makes it super hard to find the legitimate and worthwhile information here(which is plentiful) with all these people looking for controversy and negativity is just not constructive at all. There's a treasure trove of information here hidden within a good ole' fashioned internet "I AM A ENTHUSTIAST AND THIS DOESN"T STACK UP" circle jerk.

I haven't checked out "Quit Your *****in'" post, but I can agree that it is getting really annoying. If your gonna ***** then please feel free to do so in one post and stop making post after post about the same thing. I purposely did not check out a lot of the post complaining about the G2x because I'm personally not facing any of these issues especially since the update. The only issue I am having is the stock camera being dark instead of LG's original camera, so what post do you think I constantly look into? FLAK0's post about porting LG's Camera to Gingerbread. PLEASE LETS FIND A POST THAT FITS YOUR ISSUE AND STICK TO IT! THERE'S TONS OF REPEAT POST SO I AM SURE YOU WON'T HAVE A PROBLEM FINDING YOUR FIX.

Ever phone thread has there core group of whiners....most of the whiners are people who refuse to flash any of the roms or fixes and complain mostly about issues with th stock rom or they complain about how long the next update is taking......I wish this site allowed only those who take advantage of this sites offerings instead of allowing a platform for people to cry

Lol its a beautiful day in Orlando. I'm great to be honest. And I actually am usually not so bothered by other's complaints, especially not to the point of starting a new thread. I think I've only started one other thread on here and it was about features and tips on using the phone. But there has just been something about the way everyone here keeps talking about the G2X that drives me nuts (that reminds me of a pirate joke of you ever want to hear it). A good constructive complaint is actually helpful but most of what has been posted here, especially since this update started rolling out, has been pathetic whining from people about how T-Mobile and LG have F'd them all and how they are entitled to some sort of retribution. It really is nonsense.
The G2X is one of the fastest and most powerful phones on the market. It had some hiccups at first but its getting better. The software update came out fairly quickly in my opinion. And we have greet dev support for this phone. I don't see much to complain about. No product is perfect, ever. That's why you modify and make it your own and figure out how to improve it to suit your own needs.
Do I let people get to me usually? No. But it is getting out of hand here. Maybe me posting this doesn't help a thing but maybe someone will read it and take a step back and look at how awesome this phone really is.

Yep it's an awesome phone alright. I do agree. But took me five to get a good one.
And there are still many people out there with defective phones.
I say again. IMO, you people who are complaining about the whiners are bigger whiners. This qualifies as needless harassment of people who are just trying to get some straight answers about their phones.
If you go to the LG site, you will see that the responses to legitmate questions are still being ignored. There are still many people who cannot download the update at all. The camera is screwed up ? It's a failure when so many people are having problems. It looks to me like the ones that are bad in the first place are still not working after the update.
I resent my fellow xdaers attacking me and others and I resent the name calling. I sincerely feel that all of you making these comments are worse than me who is simply standing up for my rights. If you want to be an apologist who thinks because you have a good phone or few problems the rest of us should just roll over that's fine. But I stand by my opinions. And I'll continue to patricipate in the discussions which is my right and prerorative.
Bottom line? Polls are still being made that show the rate of unhappiness or bad phones is at least 2 out of 3 or worse.
And sorry, but I still think that each of you who continues to dog people are the biggest jerks here . Why don't you just SHUT THE HELL UP. You've all repeated it over and over. I get it, you think I'm a jerk. I think you're jerks. And every time you call me a jerk, I'll just keep calling you one. You want to act like a child, I'll play.

Ok I'm a newer member here, but not to hacking and yes I posted a thread yesterday about the HTC reps givin the ok to state that the Thunderbolt would be getting Gingerbread in the 3rd quarter. I only put it up because it was being reported on other forums and maybe just maybe someone would care....
I never expected to be slammed by memebers of this forum for doing so because I only have "4" post. You cant post on the Development board unless you have 10 post???So how does somebody get thier if the put up something and it's slamed all over. I can really understand why all the Devs are RUNNING away from XDA. The personality of this forum is really awfull. I will probably be kicked off here after this and I really don't care thier are numerous forums around and I did post the same thread on a couple other board and not one of then slammed me for doing so and locked the thread. I have gingerbread so I don'r really care when it comes down but it would be nice to have an official rom for the DEVS to work with..

while back a leaked radio was (found) then week or so later another radio leak popped up and the file size was different,...simply posted MY THOUGHTS on the file size being different.... and people were calling me mentally ill????....bi polar and manic depression were the claims... if they Are such GREAT psycholigists and can make a diagnosis from a forum post....why are they at home talking **** and NOT HELPING PEOPLE,...way to do your part in this life. with people like that, n wonder the country is such a wreck. but i do have to agree people around this place are F**ked a**holes.

I have experience both sides. Some people here are super nice, understand that some are noobs and will go through great lenghts to help you out. Others gets off on bashing people and acting like they are the sh!t when they are probably some techy geek living in their moms basement.

this is exactly what I'm talking about, there isn't much info here anymore they all took it to other sights. I'm pretty laid back personaly but I had to have a say about what I've seen here since March when I got my Thunderbolt..I*'m not complaining just stating facts and it seems that alot of people agree..

I don't remember reading anything anywhere that stated you had the authority to say who can/cannot post here, or whether or not they should "go somewhere else."
The OP makes a good point. What's worse, someone making an observation that might help others think twice before they slam someone, or someone replying to a post with no other motive than to play king and tell someone s/he is stupid and telling s/he to go somewhere else?
It's pretty obvious which is the more mature of the two methods.
There have been times where I thought someone's information was lacking credibility. I've asked questions, but haven't taken cheap shots. What's the point?

I have seen some extremely helpful people on here thats why i come here. I do go to other forums for some things because thats where the dev's for certain things went. Some people have been treated very unfairly on this forum and no it shouldn't be like that. Personally I have had people say stupid stuff to me but in the end ya gotta realize with this many people on here there are bound to be those with no social skills at all who's intellectual capacity goes just below the Waterboy. Block em, bleep em or beat em with your own wit. I realize that being on any forum and in fact just being on the internet means there are those who take on internet personas of being the baddest dude in the world. Fuhgeddaboutit. If thats what a person has to do to make themselves feel better i make my comments then i talk around them. As much as people complain about contributing to the community, flaming posts certainly do not . Oh well, when something such as the internet exists, some people will use that avenue to be abrasively rude and inconsiderate. Etiquette applies in all social interaction situations, not just in person .

Ya know, its not so much we just wanna beat on a guy. It's that SO MANY threads have been started. Last time the gullible fool even posted a link to a pic to the absolute fakest looking "corporate memo" I'd ever seen. A lot of people were lapping that crap up and I called them idiots then. Some people actually believed a Verizon rep posted in this forum earlier this week too. Uh.... No, that didn't happen either. Between threads like "Verizon says gingerbread is coming!" threads and the horribly mangled English so often used, I'm beginning to think forums in general are magnets for the least intelligent forms of life walking upright. It's not just Android forums. It's forums on just about every subject imaginable. I think its because nobody ever calls someone stupid when they say something really stupid. A great way to flush your credibility down the toilet is to post a thread like you did. XDA is XDA because they tend to hold themselves to a higher standard. Go look at most other android forums. Most of the development threads are copy and pastes of XDA threads. That's not changing. I'm gonna ask real nice that you please think real hard about what you post here. Maybe check to see how many threads exactly like your proposed thread already exist. Lots of people post questions and comments all the time to good reception. It really is just the foolish nature of your subject matter.

I don't jack people off with their own ass-backwards ideas just to get along. I don't say anything here I wouldn't say to your face. Not all ideas are valid and worthy of equal consideration. Stupid NEEDS to be called stupid and made fun of. I'd like to live in a world where when stupid people spoke they got laughed out of the room. I can hardly believe people buy some of the insanity and lies they're sold most of the time.

I'm new to posting myself... I've been waiting in the weeds for sometime now, reading the thread for Synergy ROM for a long time. I've got only 4 or 5 posts as well. So far, I haven't had any bad reactions to posts, PM's or even contacting one of the Devs on G+ for the only issue I couldn't manage to figure out on my own.

To the OP:
Try to remember where you are when you post. You are in a forum that is populated with many experienced, sharp people, who know a great deal about this platform. Those that are the MOST knowledgeable typically don't even post. It's those who *think* they know a lot who do. Sadly, uninformed questions do not simply get ignored. Think of it as walking into a medical convention and asking a large population of surgeons why anesthesia is necessary during surgery. They expect that you know some minimal facts before asking a question.
Sadly, these same intelligent people browse the General and QandA sections for posts such as yours to flame you for no reason. Not everyone here is that way, but clearly there are many.
I lurked here for a year, before ever signing up and posting anything simply because it was clear some knowlege is necessary to root, mod, theme and customize your phone. And it was clear that many of my questions had already been answered simply by looking.
Don't get discouraged, read, then read some more. There is a lot to learn, but most of it isn't that hard. And don't pay any attention to the negativity - it only feeds the problem.

Or he's been here a lot longer than you, and does his job just fine. Look at his join date and his post count and then say what you just said again. He's a mod and therefore it's his job to do what he does. And I agree with diablo as well. Eitherway, no reason for arguments on the internet.

Should have known better then.

Lots of Infuse devs left 'cos things here got very unruly. This could be one of the reasons mods on Infuse forum are more strict that on others.

To Sqdnguns...I have been a member over a year...and had I read the rules...I would have known but I didn't...surfing for answers with issues.
I can man up and take the blame for my lack of paying attention to the rules. I meant no harm...just asking questions. Trying to gain the ability to ask tech questions too.
Regardless of how many posts or how long he has been around...that doesn't make a bean of difference to me. He could have pm'ed me like I said before and told me to chill out or something. He is still a nuisance in my book.
Now...with that said...its all irrelevant to what I am here to accomplish. I have found the answers I needed and will sit back quite again till next year.

That all being said, I will answer your question.
Yes technically the skyrocket and the sgs2 are upgrades (even though the sgs2 came out before the infuse...worldwide atleast) but this does not mean our infuse is worthless. those other phones are upgrades indeed but the difference is hardly anything to bash your head against the wall for.
Also, get use to constantly not having the best gear, these phones come out frequently so the odd are any phone will no longer be top of the line a few months after it hits the market. Welcome to android
Tldr: grow thicker skin; read the rules; Infuse is still great; get use to upgrades coming out every few months.

Hey there everyone.
I'm from the Vibrant section, and I have some questions for you Galaxy S 4G users, please do know I searched around, but I thought it'd be best to have all the information anyone had on this particular topic all in one thread, so if anyone feels this is useless, feel free to delete it, I'm just trying to gain some knowledge. My girlfriend has a GS4G, and although the devs have done a great job modding Samsung's ROMs.. they don't compare to AOSP ROMs in my opinion.
Now, for the questions.
1. Why is it we can't get a working kernel to boot for the GS4G? (Someone please do explain in detail.)
2. How far has someone gone/gotten? (I know krylon handed the work to someone, but I don't think they've reported back?)
And please, no stupid answers. This is pure discussion. If a kernel dev is what we need, I could try to find one that's willing to work with me, but we'd need testers and such.

From what I heard and read around, you guys don't have any devs thats capable of doing that.

Yep, just checked your replies on Rootz Wiki, sorry, I didn't notice that earlier.
But like I said, this thread isn't meant to rush anyone or say someone can't do something, simply for discussion and information. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Alright, flame me.. because I'm definitely doing something wrong. I'm in no way demanding an ETA or even demanding anyone to start working on this, I simply wanted to group the information anyone knows so we could help each other.. you know.. kind of what a community does?

Guys, being cynical and trolling won't get us anywhere, and tell you the truth, it's childish and starting to bore.
The guy said he wanted a technical status summary and specifically said he wants to help.
In this case, i think we do need to maintain a thread of work chords and specify the barriers.
I thank every new dev with a will to help.
I think he deserves a different attitude than a noob, especially if we don't want to scare all devs from here.
That's my opinion anyway.

It's ok. I've responded to a few of these threads. It's surprising how many people don't click 'search' and search for 'cm7' or 'cyanogenmod'. I also don't expect people to read both rootz and xda. So if you read my op on the kernel thread, I have a "Plans" section (on both forums!).

Lets keep this thread going I am also wondering how come there is so little development here but what developers we have are dedicated!

We have great developers that work hard on cm. The sgs 4g is the problem of not having it, freaking sammy with their experiments. i really enjoy their masterpieces(devs). Op you just have to have some patience, cm will come to us i believe in our devs.

Then why didn't you group all the information that is already available in the 50 other threads about CM7 into this one?
if you really wanted to do that, you could have made your OP a summary with bullet points of the details of everything that was already discussed, and then updated it with new information that comes along.
did you even search at all??

Before flaming and insulting did you notice the date on the first post?
Personally I think the person that cast the raise dead spell should be getting beat with the flame bat.
I swear sometimes people are too eager to flame somebody. Its like they had a bad day come to xda to post behind a anonymous screen name and then walk away feeling better. But that is just me, Im sure my observation is wrong.

First of all, this has never been my primary device. I have never owned this device. I used to own the Samsung Vibrant, now I own a Nexus S. My girlfriend owned a Galaxy S 4G, and was using her phone to try to bring something new to you guys. (First ICS theme for this device ring a bell?) It's not my job to group 50 other threads about CM7 into this one. That's not what a community is. I am in no way a recognized developer, I know my stuff, but I have a long way to go. But it's people like you that make devs want to leave and stop posting their stuff. You swear people have time to do everything. And indeed that was my intention, but I wasn't going to pull useless information from other threads that members have posted, that are often inaccurate. This thread was mostly meant for devs, that could actually help out, and working together.
In other news, I finally have some time to mess around with stuff, might look into more themes or something, but I lack a device to work on, so I guess if some people would like to help (testing, etc.) I'd be glad to push things out from time to time.

ok, so ive noticed both the One-Click and Subtly Modified Kernel threads are locked and i didnt see him say anything about having them locked or going on hiatus. does anyone know if everythings alright? did he quit devving? move to Rootz? someone has to know something...

He got tired of the BS that goes on around here. He said that he was tired of answering question that could be answering by people just doing a little research, and was also tired of people not following the "rules." I completely understand his frustration. He wrote a huge post about it which I think can be found in the gerneral section titled "thinking of leaving XDA" or something like that. He even said he was thinking of disappearing and keeping his work to himself. I do not know if he has stopped deving or just went somewhere else. But god I hope he hasn't stopped deving for us.

Damn noobs making all the mistakes, yet we get the consequences aswell.

...See ya, I'm out... kinda. Still working on this phone, I just don't care to partake in the xda shenanigans anymore. Yup, sourceforge and github are where I do stuff.

A few senior moderators have pm'd me, and I reexplained my opinion on xda, which they seem to agree with.

I think this site needs to go back to being a place for "DEVELOPERS", like it once was.
The "Thinking of leaving..." post was deleted (afaik) because the users started to act unrully in it. Go figure. Good job guys.
But what I stated in that thread, and I will restate here. I'm not done developing, but I don't have a lot of time to work on this stuff. I'm close to getting cm7 to boot, but I will guess that after it works, and there will be lots of fixes before it is stable for users to use. So even if I get cm7 booting I won't release it right away. I do not want to push out a rom that doesn't work right. (well, good enough for me).

do what you gotta man. you have my full support. just wish people were as patient as i am. keep up the awesome work. also, if you need any help with anything, just let me know. i'm willing to test things out and also willing to help out with any graphical ideas. you know how to reach me.

I actually had some free time and i decided to read alot of the threads last night and i can see why you all get so frustrated with people asking "when will you be done??" "how does this work??" I had to read for about three days on just how to even root.. let alone flash my first rom.. but we all wont learn everything if we dont take the time to read it fully ( I love the whole trial and error of it.) Im by all means am not tech savvy but this site has all the answers to ALL the questions to ALL the beautiful roms on this site.. kernel's, roms, baseband, builds, and even mods.. all work in conjunction with eachother.. for me its like putting my own perfect puzzle together to my liking.. Brian has helped me out alot.. Ive only been a member on this site for a short period of time and it pains me that you all feel this way.. Im not a dev.. Im a nurse.. I do know from my career it can be frustrating from people asking the same questions over and over and over.. Ive asked alot of questions and you all have been so helpful to me.. Im just sorry you all feel this way.. I remember signing up a few months ago i watched the video and i got it.. there are alot of different personalities on this site some good some bad.. its just sad that a few "idiots" have got to screw it up for the rest of us that are willing to learn... Ive learned alot in my two months of being here and i just wanted to take the time and say thanks to all of you.. I love this site im on it all the time.. for me personally its a great site my Favorite period.. its just sad that all this ignorance would cause a great person to leave.. thanks Brian for all you have helped me with.. blessings to you and your family man..
