Any Inspire owners able to multi-select and delete in the new Google Play app? - HTC Inspire 4G

I've installed the new Google Play app that has "installed" and "all" lists under My Apps, and the ability to delete apps from the "all" list. However, I keep hearing about others being able to multi-select by long pressing an item and then selecting other items, and deleting more than one app at a time. I'm not able to do this no matter what I try. Has anyone else got it to work on an Inspire?

I didn't know that was possible, but I can't either. When I have an app selected and try to long-press a second app, both get deselected.

After the first one has been selected (long pressed), tap on the rest.

That's what I've been doing. If I long press an item and then let up, it just opens that item to show it to me. I tried long pressing in the middle of the item, long pressing on just the delete symbol for the item, nothing works. Long pressing on the delete symbol just asks me if I want to delete that item.

Long-press 1 item, then short-press a 2nd in the middle.

Drink some coffee, watch some tv, relax, try again later.
Long press on an app (in the middle) that isn't installed, tap the rest. Don't know how to explain it any other way. Sorry.

OK, I laughed. I'll keep trying, but it just doesn't seem to be working for me. If I ever "get lucky" with this one, I'll report back.

more info and questions!
I've been reading some reviews of the new version and my screen looks slightly different from the ones in the reviews. At the top of the review photos, in the "all" app listing screen, I see not only a search icon (the magnifying glass) but just to its right, three small squares on top of each other. In some apps this is associated with switching from "single select" to "multiple select".
In other screens, in particular one where several items have already been highlighted (selected), there is a delete icon (the circle with a line through it) by itself at the upper right where the search and the "multiple select" icons were before.
From the screen shots it certainly looks like you select the "multiple select" icon, which then changes to a "delete" icon, and you select the items you wish to batch delete, finishing the deletion by pressing the "delete" icon at the upper right of the screen.
No one and none of the reviews have actually mentioned having to press a "multiple select" icon before being able to do a batch deletion.

I noticed on jellybean you can multi select. On sense though you can not even with the new 3.9 version.

I'm going to try backing up my ROM, running the no-sense script to remove Sense, and seeing if the new version works then. Once I've used the batch uninstall I'll reflash the ROM and presumably all will be well.

New User - Launcher Pro Question

I just installed launcher pro and was wondering how to get the 2nd icon to work [looks like a person]. I'm assuming it's for contacts.
Every time I click on it, it says "Application is not installed on your phone".
What app do I need to install for it to work?!
press and hold. It will ask what you want to associate it to and select applications and then scroll to contacts

Fast Home Long Press App?

Is there any app that allows you to open the Home Long Press via a single tap on the home button? (i.e. not a long press)
Why would you want that?? then you'd have to long press home to goto your homescreen and that would be annoying this kind of app would also require root to
(i think)
Edit: Congrats for being 3 posts away from 2000

Because I want it.
And who said a long press was the only method of getting back home?
And yes, I'm rooted and running CM6.
I guess nothing like this exists?
I use a program called MoreRecent, which shows the last 15 opened apps, it's accessed with a long press on search, or you can place a shortcut to it on the home screen.
Not exactly what you want, but maybe helpful for you.
I can't post links, so search here on XDA for MoreRecent

Yep, I've seen that. If you check out the MoreRecent thread, you'll notice I've posted many times in that thread. It was actually my idea
But anyway, looking for a way to specifically do this with tapping the home button a single time.

If you have programming experience (or know someone who has) you could write a very simple home replacement app that would for a single tap launch whatever program you want, then on a double tap, launch your home screen, a bit like the app Quickdesk. That way you'll be able to intercept a single tap on the home button and still use the launcher of your choice with double tap.

Any way to Stop Matching Contacts?

Is there any way to stop the Inspire from "Matched Contacts"
Does this constantly. I have view set to Touchdown only and sync with google turned off for now but it still keeps matching contacts.

When you get the notification that it has Matched Contact suggestions, open the notification and make sure you don't Match any of them, and click OK. It won't prompt you to match those contacts anymore. If you Dismiss the suggestions, it will continue to prompt you. At least this has been my experience.
I like this feature. I sync my contacts with GMail, then have Facebook match my Gmail contacts so I have pictures for 90% of my contacts.
Is there a way to select all? Does selecting ok on the list add them all if I don't select any manually?

As long as you don't toggle on the little dumbbell type icon to Match them, clicking OK simply dismisses the suggestion. If you toggle on the icon and hit OK, then it matches them. If you just click Dismiss, it will suggest them again later.
Edit: Wow, I didn't read your question well at all. I don't know. The first time I setup the matching it had automatically selected all. Everytime I flash now, the ones that I chose not to match are the only ones that prompt to match (and this is where I click OK and they don't prompt again), the others automatically match. This must be something google backs up?

Hmm...thinking about it I might have had to manually select them the first time. I can't remember 100% (I sure am being helpful, huh??). Either way, every time I flash a new ROM now all of the ones that I selected to Match continue to be matched, and all the ones I didn't match will prompt me to match after a fresh install, but they don't prompt anymore after I select OK.

Ok so if I go through the trouble of matching them once it should follow me from (sense) ROM to (sense) ROM? That's livable. Sense is so damn smart about this stuff.

Yes, this has been what I've noticed since I matched them the first time (I've mainly been using Revolution ROMs, but have done FULL wipes multiple times, and have not had to manually set them all back up since the first time)
I know that is awesome about staying with the same rom.
I made the mistake earlier today of freezing HTC Sence launcher and had no way to get to my home screen to TB unfreeze it. Trying to save battery a little too agressively! I had to Nandroid back to last weeks back up. All settings were still good!

[Q] Menu issues after 3 button mod

Im sorry if this was covered in any way. I searched and could not find a single thing. Sorry again if so.
Anyways... I am on 1.85 and have the 3 button mod for menu and remap home press as multitasking.
Its working great in general but in some apps its showing the wrong information for menu. One example is titanium backup. Normally when you press menu it brings up the option for batch runs etc. Instead its showing the main program options such as Help & Support, Market tools , and preferences etc.
Would take a long time to go thru every app manually lol
I can get a pic that would help too , just give me a bit.
Appreciate any help.
The latest version of TiB has a different menu system. I literally JUST updated it and was like WTF? There is a batch button in the upper right corner now that I don't think was there before.

[Q] How to remove "abd" from dictionary

So, I'm using the HTC gesture keyboard (like Swype) and I'm hoping that someone can help me to remove a word from the dictionary. Everytime I try to spell the word "and", I get "abd". I will never use the word "abd". Is there a way to remove it from the dictionary? Thanks....

This has been plaguing me since even the M7. It drives me absolutely nuts and I have not yet found any fix for it -_-
To delete a word, in the keyboard's settings, select "personal dictionary". Then press on the menu dots in the upper right corner of the screen. Select delete from the menu. This will take you to another screen. Find the word you want to get rid of and put checkmark to the right of it. Then press delete at the bottom right of the page. Should get the job done for you.

Glad it's not just me having this problem...
I had to look up what this word meant. Apparently abt means "all but dissertation," for someone going for a PHD. That being said I don't think this should be default in a dictionary either.
It can be done easily once proper root is available.
In fact, I usually replace the stock dictionary with a better third party one.

I had to do the same thing. I noticed that WTF is not in the dictionary, and I suspect that it is used far more often than abd....
This is driving me insane!!! I've gotta train myself to swype far enough to get the "n" instead of the "b".

I don't know if you use the xposed framework, but here is a module that I found that might help you out. This sounds like what you are wanting. I haven't used it myself.

the OP doesn't want this. what he wants to do is remove a word that is built-in to the keyboard before ever typing your first word.
say like you swipe or type the word 'hell' the predictive text will show you 'hell' ' he'll' and 'help'. what the OP wants to do is remove one of the three is predicts.
in his case he types/swipes the word 'and' and he gets 'abd' instead. he has mentioned he checked where you suggested and it is not a word he has saved or accidentally saved, but a built-in word
it took me a few reads to get what he was wanting, but i finally understood it all. then i cam across the module in my previous post which seems exactly as to what he wants. hopefully it helps

donwoad and install from there
its pretty simple once you use it a few times, here is a quickie:
download and install xposed
open xposed
choose framework and click install/update
itll ask you to update, choose yes and do the soft reboot
after you rebooted
open xposed
choose downloads and find whatever module you think will come in handy (some are only compatible with certain devices)
download the module and it will say its not activated
back up and go to modules, select it to activate it (you can touch the module to adjust any settings if there are any)
do a soft reboot and the module will start working
