I have unlocked my bootloader and rooted my HTC Sensation XE and then tryied 3 custom ROMs but its stops on the boot logo and after som reasarch i found out that i have S-ON but should have S-OFF to get everything to work.
But all i found need a Android OS working to get the S-OFF set.
Someone has any ideas or is it time to get a new phone?
You can still flash roms while s-on. Flash boot.img seperately or if you use 4ext recovery, enable smartflash in settings before you flash the rom. There is a good guide about this. Use the search button.

I went back to stock GB then updated OTA I have locked hboot and 1.27 hboot but still s-off though. And I returned to stock ciD HTC__044 I'm previously supercid. I prefer to stay with my current CID while flashing Roms is it possible?

U must ulter Super CID ETC AGAIN
Can I rather download ROM Manager and install CWM from there? Or do I need to put PG5IMG to Root SD Card then Update from the Bootloader? Or either ways will work?
Currently I'm S-OFF with Locked Bootloader. Do I need to Root First? or CWM then Root?

i'd rather unlock the bootloader and install 4ext recovery through adb/fastboot. 4ext cause i see u are ARHD rom user and flash through fastboot cause it seems easier to me and i never liked ROM Manager app, CWM recovery yes, i use it on my samsung and its great tool as well.
im not sure u can replace stock recovery if bootloader is locked...
edit: u dont have to Super CID no matter what. u can install custom ROM's even with current CID, just pay attention to the version of firmware u install along with the ROM.
Do I need to install the Unlocked 3.32 firmware first? Before I install 4EXT?

Don't need the FW if you're already on ICS, just need to flash 4EXT via a PG58IMG.zip and flash the ROM
Just to give another option/way I use following method to Unlocked and Root my Sensation XE since it been S-OFF. Just give some idea.
1. Unlocked the phone using htcdev.com account since no other's method seem possible right now. But if you device already unlock you do not have to do this.
Go to hTCDEV register, click "Unlock Bootloader" and follow the instruction.
2. Install custom recovery, since htc recovery won't flash/install flashble zip correctly. For this I use "Android Recovery Manager". Reboot the phone after unlocked process. Connect the phone with usb cable. Open the Android Recovery Manager > Start > ** Download a recovery ** > HTC Sensation > ClockWorkMod 5.0.2.0 (Pyramid) > follow the instruction on the software. If stuck when device reboot to flash hboot but not yet flash it because can recognised the FASTBOOT(Android Recovery Manager waiting for FASTBOOT). Take out battery, reconnect usb and boot to FASSBOOT.
3. Flash the supersu, as the Android Recovery Manager finish flash the ClockWorkMod you have to install Superuser-3.0.7-d-signed.zip. If fail retry flash 2-3 times, but I am just done 1 time, before on GB I flash two time because fail at 1st time. And now you rooted and reboot your phone.
Try at your own risk.
Summary :
Download Android Recovery Manager and Superuser-3.0.7-d-signed.zip, place the Superuser-3.0.7-d-signed.zip on sdcard. Unlock the phone on htcdev.com, install custom recovery with Android Recovery Manager and flash the supersuser.
* use Superuser version 3.0.7 because the lower version won't support ICS. Use link given and download the right version.
I am using this method on Sensation XE, so try at your own risk. I will not responsible to anything happen. And please do make sure you backup your device first.
# Just hit the thanks button so other's and I will know this method also work for you ;p

Yep, it doesn't mean anything if you're S-OFF

About flashing the rom. Since im back to htc_044 and not supercid. Will arhd boot still?

Yep, CID has no bearing on custom ROMs. Only on receiving OTAs from HTC
Hi XDA good people,
I am using Sensation XE with Hboot 1.29 and 3.33.707.106 Firmware which I updated a week ago by OTA before I Unlocked my device with HTC Dev and flashed a custom ROM (currently using ARHD latest). I just figured out that, as a new user, it is very frustrating to flash custom ROMs via 4EXT with the HTC Dev Unlocked but S-ON since I have to manually flash Kernels which I would not know before whether it works well with my device or not. The common issue I have been facing is that Wifi does not work! It happens with most of the ROMs I flash (e.x. ViperS 1.1.0, OrDroid 9.0)
My question is, how do I S-OFF my device with this Hboot 1.29 and Firmware 3.33.707.106? I have tried the Juopunutbear method but failed and I was stuck in the Juopunutbear black screen for a while since the method failed at the middle of the process. It was a dramatic situation for me to solve the black screen and came back on the ARHD. I thought, "darn, I am loosing my phone." but thanks to @ganeshp 's troubleshoot, I got my phone back.
For a confirmation info on my device
My device is: Sensation XE
Hboot: 1.29.0000
Firmware 3.33.707.106
Recovery: 4EXT v1.0.0.5 RC5
ROM: ARHD 6.7.2 xe
Kernel: 3.0.16-g31a4c7 htc-kenel
if you have read the flashing roms with son guide by asskicker ..properly ..then you wont have an issue with wifi errors ..
and once you do step #5 from the guide ..you dont even need to bother with smartflash again ..even for kernel flashing you need to enable smartflash

Thank you very much once again, Garnesh. It was really my mistake of not Smartflash-ing. I really did not know it was that important so I always flash ROMs through bootloader recovery. Now I don't have to care about S-OFF anymore. Special thanks to asskicker
Hi is it possible to install CyanogenMod 9 Stable Release for Sensation in my HTC Sensation which is S-ON but has bootloader unlocked.
My firmware is stock 3.33.401.6.
Thanks!
I think you can do that with 4EXT's smartflash. But why not just s-off your phone? It'll open up a lot more possibilities for you. Not to mention making flashing new ROMs much easier.
Just like what Skipjacks said. use the 4EXT smartflash. I, too, have my sensation xe S-ON but unlocked with HTC DEV. It is not necessary to S-OFF anyways (it just makes things easier). Follow this thread's guide in number 5 and you will be able to utilize your S-ONed Sensation with no problem. Remember to enable the Smartflash both in recovery menu and in the app every time you flash any ROM or Kernel.

I have hboot 1.27 and tried Juopunutbear S-OFF but it is not working, I think because I have 3.33.401.6 firmware, it is said on the Juopunutbear S-OFF guide(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614617) that it is for 3.32.

I can get into CMW 5.8.0.9. Flash Roms but no matter what I do, they do not boot. I have tried even restoring the stock ROM, from Backup. Used the RUU method, Nothing works. All of them get stuck at the HTC logo.
How do you S-Off without booting into ICS???
Is there a way to update/downgrade the Hboot to flash anything that will boot the device???
Any help will be apreciated

ROM: stock ICS 4.0.3
FIRMWARE:3.32.401.5
KERNEL:
BOOTLOADER:unlocked

hi,
flash 4ext recovery, enable smartflash from it and then flash a rom
see here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861
If you are S-Off, then there is no need to use HTC Dev to unlock your bootloader.
You can just flash an unlocked hboot like Revolutionary or Juopunutbear.
You'll need to relock your bootloader before that using this command:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
You can find Juopunutbear hboot along with flashing instructions here: http://unlimited.io/jbhboots.htm
