How do I S-OFF with HTC Dev Unlocked, Firmware 3.33 on custom ROM - HTC Sensation

Hi XDA good people,
I am using Sensation XE with Hboot 1.29 and 3.33.707.106 Firmware which I updated a week ago by OTA before I Unlocked my device with HTC Dev and flashed a custom ROM (currently using ARHD latest). I just figured out that, as a new user, it is very frustrating to flash custom ROMs via 4EXT with the HTC Dev Unlocked but S-ON since I have to manually flash Kernels which I would not know before whether it works well with my device or not. The common issue I have been facing is that Wifi does not work! It happens with most of the ROMs I flash (e.x. ViperS 1.1.0, OrDroid 9.0)
My question is, how do I S-OFF my device with this Hboot 1.29 and Firmware 3.33.707.106? I have tried the Juopunutbear method but failed and I was stuck in the Juopunutbear black screen for a while since the method failed at the middle of the process. It was a dramatic situation for me to solve the black screen and came back on the ARHD. I thought, "darn, I am loosing my phone." but thanks to @ganeshp 's troubleshoot, I got my phone back.
For a confirmation info on my device
My device is: Sensation XE
Hboot: 1.29.0000
Firmware 3.33.707.106
Recovery: 4EXT v1.0.0.5 RC5
ROM: ARHD 6.7.2 xe
Kernel: 3.0.16-g31a4c7 htc-kenel

if you have read the flashing roms with son guide by asskicker ..properly ..then you wont have an issue with wifi errors ..
and once you do step #5 from the guide ..you dont even need to bother with smartflash again ..even for kernel flashing you need to enable smartflash

Thank you very much once again, Garnesh. It was really my mistake of not Smartflash-ing. I really did not know it was that important so I always flash ROMs through bootloader recovery. Now I don't have to care about S-OFF anymore. Special thanks to asskicker

Want a custom Rom.... Someone started but never finished the job. Where to start??

Hi everone,
I'm having a bit of a problem.... I just bought a HTC Sensation 4g from someone and I want to put a custom ROM on there. Problem is, this person has already started the process and I have no idea were to pick up and I don't want to accidently brick my phone so, if possible can someone tell me what to do?
Details:
I the phone will not boot pass HTC logo screen.
I have no idea of any specifications in the phone because it won't boot up.
I have SuperWiped it.
ClockWorkMod v5.0.2.0
Bootloader info:

Your help is most appreciated!
If you have superwiped but have not yet flashed a ROM then of course your phone won't boot up since there is nothing to boot. Your phone is already S-OFF. Which ROM are you trying to flash? Depending on the ROM you may need to update your firmware.
Based on your radio and hboot we can say that your firmware is bit old gb firmware .as Hboot is old but you are soff and unlocked by revolutionary so thats fine.
First of all get your cid
Fastboot getvar cid
If it is supercid 11111111 then you can flash any stock Rom otherwise you need to get the corrsponding Rom for your device.
So if you want ics
update the firmware from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
Then you can flash any custom Rom.
I advise you to supercid just in case to prevent bootloops

Thanks for your quick response.
The ROM I'm looking forward to having is OpenSensation/Cyanogenmod 9/ICS.
Do I need to update the firmware? If so, how and to which one?
-Thank you

Ok, I have Supercid 11111111 on the phone now.
For my Rom, I want OpenSensation/Cyanogenmod 9/ICS.
Per your link, I should update my firmware to -
"3.32 Unlocked is the latest/stable release ICS 4.0.3 FW for Sensation (sense 3.6 Version) that has the Unlocked bootloader (posted by Mike1986)"???
-Thanks

Yes that is correct. Flash your new firmware then go back and flash your new rom. Should work peachy keen. Would also recommend using 4ext recovery instead of CWM. More of the custom ROM's for the Sensation require it because of it's interactive installer.

If possible, should I change from Clockworkmod to 4ext recovery before I flash the firmware and flash the the new rom? If so, please send me the steps to to it via bootloader.
Thank you!
Hi, you might have a look at this. It is a complete guide to install a custom ROM.
Hope this will help you out, it helped me out at least

Thank you guys!
I followed the steps in this link (because it was sooo short and to the point)
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/how-to-flash-pg58img-zip-ics-firmware-on-htc-sensation/

flashing custom rom

Hi,
im a new member, and i just dont know anything about xda but guys i have a problem with my htc sensation xe.
the problem is that i recently unlocked bootloader of my phone via htc dev which gives me root priviledges but its still s-on, ive installed everything but when flash a custom rom my phone stucks in bootloop, i can only flash rom like ARHD, but i wanted to try ordroid and sense 4 roms but they all get stuck in bootloop. so that means i cant flash roms like that while s-on? cause the juopunutbears soff technique is to difficult so please tell me how can i flash sense 4 roms? ive tried everything.
hboot version: 1.27
firmware:3.32
and does anybody know when revolutionary guys are going to get updated so i can s-off my device with 1.27?

Installing CyanogenMod 9 Stable Release for Sensation S-ON, bootloader unlocked

Hi is it possible to install CyanogenMod 9 Stable Release for Sensation in my HTC Sensation which is S-ON but has bootloader unlocked.
My firmware is stock 3.33.401.6.
Thanks!
I think you can do that with 4EXT's smartflash. But why not just s-off your phone? It'll open up a lot more possibilities for you. Not to mention making flashing new ROMs much easier.
Just like what Skipjacks said. use the 4EXT smartflash. I, too, have my sensation xe S-ON but unlocked with HTC DEV. It is not necessary to S-OFF anyways (it just makes things easier). Follow this thread's guide in number 5 and you will be able to utilize your S-ONed Sensation with no problem. Remember to enable the Smartflash both in recovery menu and in the app every time you flash any ROM or Kernel.

I have hboot 1.27 and tried Juopunutbear S-OFF but it is not working, I think because I have 3.33.401.6 firmware, it is said on the Juopunutbear S-OFF guide(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614617) that it is for 3.32.

How to superwipe & root to Install ARHD ROM for Hboot 1.27?

Hello Guys
I want to flash The Android Revolution HD custon ROM.. I read this thread and also this one I fully understand, but just some points are not clear, I desperately need your guidance
The points that I didn't understand are:
- How to SuperWipe! I searched the forums, I know I hv to put Mike's script in root of sdcard.. boot at recovery.. when I choose recovery (after holding volume- + power key) It only shows a draw of a mobile with red exclamation mark! should I hv flashed recovery first? I never flashed anything.. I only unlocked my phone at htcdev.com and my sensation has S-ON and Hboot 1.27. With upgraded to ICS 4.0.3 and 3.32.163.12 firmware.
- What is the best recovery that would help me do superwipe? And how to flash this recovery?
So when I successfully superwipe I should install a stock ROM Then root it again ( as auggie2k explained)
I know how to install a ROM but I Don't know how to root!
So many questions I know! sorry but I'm new at those things..
1. This really should have gone in Q&A section
2. Best recovery is probably 4EXT.
3. Because you are S-ON, you need to follow the installing ROMs with S-ON guide (another reason to use 4EXT recovery is because of smartflash feature which makes flashing a ROM with S-ON much simpler).
4. I would recommend S-OFFing anyway because it means you can upgrade firmware and get supercid as well as others, look at the guides for juopunutbear S-OFF for more info on this

Thanks guys for your guidnance.. I was just confused coz there are too much threads there that i read! anyway It was really easy though! Also this thread helped me to Boot into 4ext Recovery from PC without installation:fingers-crossed: which allowed me to wipe, root and install Stock ROM then doing S-OFF which was successful after following http://unlimited.io/'s JuopunutBear method. Now that I installed 4-EXT with your help guys, I'm downloading ARHD ROM in order to flash it with 3.33.401.x firmware

Have missed S-OFF, how to fix it in bootloader?

I have unlocked my bootloader and rooted my HTC Sensation XE and then tryied 3 custom ROMs but its stops on the boot logo and after som reasarch i found out that i have S-ON but should have S-OFF to get everything to work.
But all i found need a Android OS working to get the S-OFF set.
Someone has any ideas or is it time to get a new phone?
You can still flash roms while s-on. Flash boot.img seperately or if you use 4ext recovery, enable smartflash in settings before you flash the rom. There is a good guide about this. Use the search button.

here is the guide
