[Q] Not the same screen protector question - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

New SGSIII and I want the SMOOTHEST screen protector I can find ... and NOT necessarily the clearest. Which means I do not like the Zagg or those that feel like glass. I bought a Zagg Invisible Shield from Best Buy and returned it within the hour. I don't want glass ... its too "grippy" for me.
I had an iFrogz on my iPhone 4 but they were bought out by Zagg and now they aren't available for the SIII. it was a Matt finish, real slick and slippery. I loved it.
Please don't tell me to go to eBay and buy the cheapies. I'm willing to spend the $$$ to get what I want. And I HAVE read all the threads on this but nobody really addressed my needs except for one poster who said to look for a Matt finish ... I like that, but wanted some feedback on a specific brand.
Thanks for letting me clarify and I hope I didn't come across as a ranter.

Skinomi Techskin.
You're welcome.

Although I can't attest to these ones for the S3 personally, I used the similar matte ones from monoprice before for my HTC Incredible and they were great.
http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10833&cs_id=1083306&p_id=9718&seq=1&format=2
They're cheap enough that it can't really hurt to try them out. I still have the glossy version on my old Inc and it's held up surprisingly well over time.
I would recommend monoprice for a lot of other accessories, like HDMI cables, as well.
Good luck!

I have a Wrapsol on my iPhone 5. It's matte and buttery smooth. Not sure if they make one for GS3.
I have the Zagg HD on my GS3 and it's much smoother than the regular Zagg.

I second both these guys. While at first they feel a bit grippy give it a day or so and they are nice and smooth.

I am using a spiegn screen protector and love it. There's also another company called DBA screen protectors. There's a thread about them in the s3 accessories section. I have read nothing but great reviews about there screen protectors and also there cases. They are about to release there full screen protectors this week. I am thinking about picking one up from them.

I use the spigen glas, premium tempered glass screen protector on my s3, and i love it. It actually saved me about 300.00 dollars. I dropped my phone on the ground from about 4 feet, getting out of my car. Screen cracked in the lower right hand corner, it looked really bad around the blue on bottom were the back button is. I grabbed one of spigen glas, screen protectors off amazon,, and with that, I and a dark wallpaper I can't even tell it's cracked.

Does anyone still love their screen protector?

Zagg HD was good for a few days and then started bubbling at the top and was easily nicked up.
Skinomi will always have microbubbles.(bad batch) Have tried 4 at 2 plus days each.
Please note what is actually working and where you purchased it.
please help before I go insane.
Leave the Skinomi alone for at least 3 days. I bet the speckles will disappear.
Had a dozen devices, never used a screen protector and never will.
Over the years had zero scratches
Had a Skinomi purchased from their website since I received the phone on May 4th. Have had no problems at all. Love it.
still rocking the skinomi on mine as well. no bubbles or anything here. it cleared up within 8hrs of putting it on.
Believe it or not but the best luck with screen protectors I've had, as far as durability and application, is with the AT&T branded ones (I think they're actually iFrog or something). The only problem is that they are "anti-glare" so I ended up going "bare" for a while but my nerves got the best of me and now I'm using a Zagg "Dry" Invisibleshield. The Zagg is starting to "peel" at the edges and it actually scratches pretty easily so I might just go back to the AT&T ones.
I agree the AT&T ones fit well but sucks cause its anti glare, at least it's not much fingerprints, and at least I know in my head there's a beautiful screen under all that graininess
I had the att anti glare and it would not sit right bc of the screen curve. Now have zagg and its nice but far too grippy. Suggestions ?

I've had one installed for 2 weeks. Have some micro bubbles.
I have had the Zagg HD on for as long as I've had the phone and it's still great. It's been over a week, maybe close to 2.
everyone in this thread should try liquid armor. It is a spray on screen protector, no bubbles, no dust, no lowered image quality. I have it on my one x and has been great so far. Best part is its only 20 bucks and you can use the spray over 50 times.
I honestly don't know why this isn't a very popular its incredible.

I just got my one s and don't really have the money for the warranty. After reading around I think the BALLISTIC SG hard cover case is the way to go but I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on screen protectors. Yup, I tried Zagg just because I got their headphones for $10 if I bought the shield. I took it off after a week, the orange peel affect is horrific. I also noticed it was a lot thinner than Ghost Armor, not sure if that's matters in normal situations though.. lol

It did peel on the corner pieces, which is why I've gone for the screen-only one this time.

Hey y'all, noob here, just got my One S the other day, and just got my Diztronic case from Amazon today, love it! Those screen protectors that come with it are crap tho, and was looking into the Ghost Armor. I've had unpleasant results with the Zagg shields in the past, and the Ghost Armor seems to be pretty popular.
One other question, is anyone using the full-body GA skin in addition to a regular case, such as the Diztronic or Incipio? Just curious. Thanks!

I've never had the ghost armor full body, but I did had zagg full body and it didn't peel up. Once you let it dry it sticks pretty well, just don't put a case on it for at least 24 hours maybe more to let it dry.
I'd imagine Ghost Armor would be better, their screen protector is soooo much better than Zagg's.
I actually need to get a replacement from Ghost Armor, for some reason the bottom part keeps wanting to come up.
I´am using the antireflex protector from mumbi and i´am very happy with it. Feels good and looks really pretty.
how it looks GhostArmor Clear for the back ? any pic ?
i'm surprised no one mentioned htc's own screen protector for the one s. there are a few sellers on ebay from uk selling them. i picked up a couple awhile ago for about USD$9 shipped.
Got my Ghost Armor (screen only) today, and just applied it. Took 2 tries, but I nailed it on the second attempt, got it perfectly lined up. I've been going back with the little squeegee and squishing out some of the smaller little bubbles over the last hour or so, and as long as you get the squeegee wet, it works pretty well to smooth out the little guys. So far, I like it a lot, doesn't have that rubbery-drag feel of the Zagg I had on my G2, or the orange peel. I'll report back in a day or so to update.
krusell
I got a KRUSELL screen film for my one S a couple of days ago and I'm thrilled with it. It is completely transparent and does not affect in any way the brightness and colors, and it doesn't have that squeaky feel.
I had an invisible shield on my previous Desire for about 8 months, it's good if you are a frequent phone dropper but if not it makes your screen uglier, it's like heaving sweat on it all the time and also affects the touch sensitivity.
All in all, would definetly recommend the Krusell.
Alright, so I made it about 5 days, and I think I'm ditching the screen protector. Yes, the peace of mind of the added protection is nice, but to be honest, I'm not really worried about it enough to keep this. I had my HTC G2 for almost 2 years, which didn't even have Gorilla Glass, and by the time I sold it, it had ONE hardly noticeable scratch in the top-left corner of the screen.
The Ghost Armor goes on relatively simple enough, but in 3 applications, I've found it impossible to keep at minimum 2-3 specks of dust out from under it when I go to smooth it down, which create a bubble you CANNOT get rid of, and I can feel them under my fingertips when scrolling around on the screen. For someone as anal as myself when it comes to things like this, these make my head want to explode. I'm also noticing around the edge of the film (which doesn't extend all the way to the edges of the screen, and I find this to be really lame), it's gathering dust and finger... gunk. Finally, and I might be alone in this, but I think it takes the sharpness of the display away. Not to a hugely noticeable amount, but it's there, and it bugs the hell out of me.
Any nice cases that are comparable to outerbox but with a lens protector?

I tried the 'Greatshield AG' (product title on Amazon below, can't link since I'm newb.) - 3 pack for like $7.
Sucks. Feels and performs great, but causes a pixellated rainbow 'shimmer' on the screen, highly annoying. Might try some of the others in this thread to see.

ZAGG on NEXUS 4 Improved!

Hi,today I installed the ZAGG front and back protector a the mall....I had it on my galaxy nexus too.I just wont to inform everybody who is considering this screen protector....compared it to to one on the galaxy nexus it has way less of that "orange peel" effect and it is not so much "gripy" than the one on the galaxy nexus that I installed almost a year agoo.So they must changed something on the protetctor.Overall Im very satisfied with this one and I would recommend it.
Thanks! Glad to see they've gotten better. I just don't like how expensive they are so I opted for a different brand.
But I am curious about that ZAGG HD.

You may think that they're more expensive but if you take into consideration the lifetime warranty I find them worth the price. I've only had to pay for 1 screen protector on all of my devices. Whenever they start peeling off because of the case I have or any little issue, I just get it replaced for free (you can take it to the mall and they'll do it also but i believe they charge) As the OP has mentioned, the orange peel look isn't as prominent as it used to be. It reminds me of my older devices with the original Gorilla Glass, its there if you look for it but if you're just using your phone its nearly impossible to see.
Are the Zaggs case friendly or will they pull band bubble up on the corners if I have a case? Because otherwise I love these and will get one asap if they play nicely with cases

I installed a HD on a friends iPhone 5... it's pretty awesome, much thinner and feels like a sheet of glass, still have the great protection though, should be how Zaggs come as standard tbh!
They only work with the OEM bumper
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
The ZAGG screen protector has 2 variants: 1 for no case, and the other is case friendly. The case friendly ones are cut more to allow room for case sides, so they will not push up against the sides of the screen protector. IF you got the wrong one, just ask for a replacement.
The greatest thing about the ZAGG lifetime warranty is that even if you ordered the original version and they later release a HD version for your device, you can simply ask for a replacement and get the HD if that is the one you want.
Easy Peasy.

Depends what you like in a screen protector. It seems to me that there are 3 main types of screen protector: matte/anti-glare (smooth to the touch, less smudhes/finger prints) , clear/hard (ment to feel the closest to the original screen), and rubbery (usually wet application, sometimes has an "orange peel" effect). I personally prefer the rubbery texture under my fingers, and I always use Xtreme Guard. Theyre wet application, provide great protection and are far less expensive than Zagg (2 dollars on amazon vs 20 dollars). As far as dry application clear ones I actually really like the ones that come with Otter Box cases. And as far as anti glare I would definitely go with Spigen. Hope that helps

Installed one of these on my dad's Galaxy Note 2 and was incredibly impressed with the amount of shatter protection this provides to your screen. It was very easy to apply, and is actually glass. Watch some of the videos available on the site. Only available for a very finite list of devices (S4 included), I ordered one last week on back order and am expecting it to arrive on Friday.

[Q] Ringke fusion

my clear tpu case has started yellowing so time for a new one, i have decided on the ringke fusion as after reading many reviews it seems like a great case but i have a few concerns. A few have pointed out that the case actually scratches the sides of the nexus 5 which is a deal breaker for me as only reason i want a case is to keep the phone in pristine condition for resale can any white nexus 5 owners who are using this case confirm whether this is true or not? Also a few others have pointed out that the sides are really sharp which makes it uncomfortable to hold not sure if this is true either? Will also be using a tempered glass screen protector with the case if that makes a difference.

I have this case (grey) on my white Nexus 5 - it looks great.
Are the edges a little sharp? Yes. Do they ever bother me when holding my phone? Nope.
As far as scratching - I'm not sure about that. It is a TPU material and hasn't damaged mine the least bit in the four months I have been using it.
Overall, I think its a great case for the price.
That soubds promising, i forgot to ask since its tpu will it also yellow with time? The back i mean im not sure if its tpu or another material

Clear TPU is known for yellowing. The clear plastic on these hybrid cases aren't TPU and shouldn't yellow over time.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
The Ringke Case was the first case I bought for my Nexus 5 when it first came out. I had one on my Galaxy S3 and knew that it was a high quality accessory. When i got it delivered from Amazon I was pretty hyped up to try it on. Needless to say it looked great. I always prefer the very slim cases so it doesn't add bulk to a phone that looks so good. My only gripe is that it's really hard to get the case off once you put it on. The first time I took it off, I thought I was going to break my phone. You will learn how to best take the case off. The plastic on the case actually bends pretty well so you can pop an edge out. I have not had any issues with scratching on the corners, although many others complain. The edges of the case are a little bit sharp, but it was nothing I couldn't deal with. If you have a file or piece of fine sandpaper, that would do the trick. I bought the solid black color, so I have no idea about the yellowing issue. I would buy it if you like it. I just saw that Ringke was selling their cases 1/2 off yesterday, so grab one if you can. Even if you don't like it, you didn't spend much you know? I'm sure you will be satisfied. Good luck....
Im going to order it now cheapest i could find is £6.99 on amazon. Price isn't really an issue its not the cheapest case but if its durable then not expensive either my main concern was the case scratching the nexus 5 because if it did that then i wouldn't even want it if it was free, maybe it's a problem with the black nexus 5 with softer and matte sides? Or maybe an old revision problem as it says on the description on amazon " ENHANCED AND REVISED" so maybe the problem has been rectified

Got my ringke fusion in the post today and 1st impressions...... It is amazing feels very premium and looks premium worth every penny and more. My only slight issue is that there is some glue residue on the top right hand corner and a tiny bit on the bottom left hand corner however this does not effect the function of the case thats why it's a slight issue. Another problem is my sennheiser hd 558s wont fit into the phone now but that's probably just because the adapter on the 558 is pretty huge

...black edges, clear back, but pretty well brand new, so dunno about yellowing yet...it's not like the back is out in the sun a lot, it's in my palm!
As for TechArmor glass, it was $15, so pretty steep, and while it went on, it just won't stay put at the very bottom..."bubbles" that I can press all the way out but creep back up again for about the last 1/2" of the phone. Otherwise I love it, the rest is very, very smooth, really you don't notice it a bit, and no problems with touch sensitivity whatever. Bought from Amazon...TechArmor doesn't show it on their own website...?

Get yourself some binder clips and attach it to where the bubbles are, use a microfibre cloth in between so it doesn't damage the phone or the screen protector, and leave a few hours overnight will be better, and the bubbles will be gone
