I am totally new heree and not sure if this is the right place to post this. Please bear with me.
I updated my G2X when the Gingerbread version first came out. I just noticed that it still automatically rebooted itself twice last night while I was reading. The G2X was right nest to me and I heard the T-Mobile tone while it rebooted. Has anyone experienced this? I thought this update shall fix this bugging issue. I also notice the battery drains faster. Anyone knows how to root it after gingerbread update? Thanks.

Yup, go to the privacy menu and use the option.
The simple act of doing a reset does a lot for a smart phone.
I had an Iphone 3g where after 4.2.1 the solution to speed was to do 2 factory resets in a row.
Some people will return a laptop because they don't want to do a reboot.
------------After the reset, go to the marketplace and the first thing install the T-Mobile My Account app. The original version is problematic and can lead to buggieness

If you return a phone to Tmobile before doing a factory reset to see if it solves your problem then you simply don't value your time. A factory reset takes all but five minutes. If you call Tmobile you will have to wait for them to ship you a phone, and when it arrives it will be in "factory reset" condition anyway. If you go to a retailer and pick a replacement up, it too will be in the same condition. So if you are going to get a reset replacement, everyone would be wise to try a reset before rushing to Tmobile.
I had the same problems with GB after the update- I didnt do a factory reset though.
Moved to Eagles Blood and seems like a much more stable and cleaner rom- havent tested enough to see if it reboots or not though.
To root, flash clockwork mod recovery using nvflash and install a rooted rom. There's a rooted version of gb stock out there, or you could be adventurous and install one of the many custom ones we have.

Return your broken phone ASAP. Phones should not randomly turn off or reboot. It is broken. Do not try to fix a broken phone on your own. It will result in nothing but headaches. Take it back now!
Yeah my replacement phone still randomly dies, I'll come back in a few hours and have to do a battery pull. It doesn't reboot like the old one but it does die more.
Should I get the replacement replaced?

I ran Xboarders OTA GB with no tweaks since it came out. I then switched to EB 1.07 and had a ton of issues. I then returns to Xboarders OTA tweak and it was flawless. Now I am on to Weapon G2x.
Like I said, I really think a good scrub down and wipe, i.e. factory reset does wonders, at least folks should give it a try.
I absolutely agree that theres a good, actually great batch out there, I have NEVER had a single issue with my phone and its bone stock on 2.2.

so are you doing this in the store? or calling customer service?
So auto reboot issue is the only issue you people are facing in this mobile phone?
Returned phone . New works flawlessly. Tmo is aware of the issue. When u call you will talk first with an outsourced person. Get past them they will transfer u to tmo who will pretty much no questions asked process ur return

Purchase at eBay does not affect 1-year warranty.
I've been using it for 8 months without any problem (always have most updated FW). Now, since I've updated to ICS (OTA) last Saturday I have consistent audio problem - there is no sound at all (by any app). I need to restart it and get the sound back, but then after a while, it happens again. FYI, everything is stock, without root, etc.
Is it a known problem of the new ICS? Anyone has a solution for this problem?
Many thanks!
I noticed a issue with no sound. After reboot it works fine.

same thing happened to me...asus used to be the only one who was good at updates but not lately...anyway, try backing up all your apps and going to settings and doing a full/factory reset. helped out mine with the sound issue and it hasnt happened since. see if that will work for you as well
yes, reboot or factory reset can solve the problem..
but now i cant use usb thumbdrive on dock, are u?
i dont have the dock so i couldnt tell you. usb to computer and microsd are working fine for me though
Happens to me about once a day, no sound (from media, notifications, anthing). A quick reboot solves it. I've already done a factory reset to try and solve the "reboots while sleeping", but that didn't fix either one of those issues.
mine was on silent mode after ics update something to check before a reboot, it is usually the simple things.....
A few reboots into ICS, my sound was gone. I rebooted it, and it came back. It happened again a few reboots later. Tried rebooting to fix it, but it never came back. I tried reflashing 3.1.1 again, still no go. I eventually caved and RMA'ed it on Monday. I had to unroot it
My sound has gone away twice on me. The first time was started a movie & there was no sound. I wanted to use the HDMI out anyway & I did have sound on the TV. Again last night I lost sound again & had to reboot. I never had this problem with HC.
more then likely its a hardware issue. its just a coincidence that u just upgraded. with everyone with a transformer upgrading, any problem that follows will be directly linked. I have speaker issues as u all described. I can push the bottom of my tab and my speakers cut back in once I loose sound.
get a bluetooth speaker or send it for Rma. I went with the first option.
I don't think it's a hardware issue (at least in my case) - I've never had this problem before ICS update, and the problem will go away right after a restart. It sounds to me a firmware problem; probably some conflict between the new ICS with existing apps
Honestly, I'm quite regret to have it updated...
I'm having the same issue too (intermittent loss of audio, returns after reboot) - definitely related to firmware/software, not a hardware issue.

Do a factory reset and cold boot.
You can't expect all your honeycomb apps to work on ICS without causing issues.
Avoid doing that reset + cold boot.
After two of them + several other tries, my sound keeps mutting.
Lets hope the update fixes this.
I too have this problem after ICS update. I noticed, sometimes after I put into silent mode, it stay muted until a reboot.
I do believe it is ics firmware issue, Tf201 get fix with lastest build so I hope Tf101 get fix too.
Yep, I get this as well. Shame!
Firmware related most likely. Mine is doing it too. A reboot fixes the issue. Hard reset won't likely correct the issue as I did a factory reset prior to installation. Possibly a piece of software causing it, but I am not going to mess with it as I only have 1 program installed.
After the update to ICS, my daughter's TF201 no longer has any audio.. speakers or headphone.
I've done the factory data reset and the data wipe. No change. Sadly, I have an RMA and hope they can figure it out. Before I ship it off, do you have any suggestions?
Thanks.
Just another 'me too' post. I have 2 transformers in the house. Upgraded one (a B80) to revolver and lose audio a few times. Reboot brings it back. When it goes away, no sound from speakers or headphone jacks. Next time it happens I'll try and grab a logcat.
Haven't tried it on my older rev TF yet, I think i'll hold off a bit.
The B80 was wiped and done with a clean install. User apps restored via TB, but no settings were carried over from HC.
Hi guys
So I bought tablet here in the UK about a month ago and apart from being sluggish on ICS (seems, everyone knows that problem) everything was fine. The JB OTA FW has rolled out and I upgraded and shortly after that TF300 started to play around by randomly rebooting itself every so often. Recently It got so bad that it happens all the time I mean in less than every 5 minutes.
I am gonna take it back to the shop but I am curious if any of you had this problem and if You know what's causing it...Ohh.. forgot to mention that obviously I did the Factory Reset and it didn't help...
I have to admit that after my faulty device and so many people had on this forum I will never ever unlock it after i get it back fixed/replaced...It's just not reliable enough to trust Asus on that especially if it cost so much money to fix it after ...
i ve got mine for over a month now. First ICS and JB later, I honestly can remember it ever rebooting

When I read your issue, the first thing I thought was how glad I am that I'm unlocked and running stable builds rather than the stock ASUS stuff.
If the issue is hardware related, ASUS should cover it under warranty regardless of locked or unlocked. Unlocking it didn't cause the hardware to fail. If it's a ROM issue, you can easily re-flash or try another. It's a win-win.
Regardless, good luck with your tablet.

After doing factory reset did you try your pad without restoring any apps? It could be that an app you had was causing the reboot, it seems strange that it didn't do that on ICS and it does on JB.
Yes i did..but then again it was working fine on ICS so can't be a single app besides it usually reboots when the screen goes off...I started to think that it may have something to do with the bootloader since one it didn't even boot but stopped on asus screen giving me some message about bootloader error etc.(can't exactly remember what it said)..one way or another it is strange that only some ppl get this random reboots and for other jb is working fine so I'm gonna get it replaced or money back and maybe but tf700 ..i was gonna unlock it and flash custom rom but if problem still occurs then I'm completely screwed on money...

Does anyone have any ideas how to find why my phone is rebooting randomly? I'll check it periodically and then it will have a bar stating it's starting. Then my launcher loads and no icons and I need to wait a minute. I don't know exactly what's going on. It appears the phone is randomly rebooting.
Have you tried a factory reset? Are you rooted?
I just factory resetted it and rooted it a few days ago. I got to thinking I think the rebooting started after I throttled the cpu trying to save battery. I just changed the cpu governor fro ondemand to scheduled. So far it seems to run faster but I'm sure the battery will be worse but we'll see if the crashing ceases.
Crashed and rebooted 15 minutes ago. So, changing cpu back didn't fix.
Flash the 100% stock image and try leaving it that way. If the problem doesn't occur, it's something you're doing/flashing/changing that's the cause of the issue.
Obviously I know it's not a hardware issue.... so I know a 100% stock would fix it. I'm trying to figure out how to fix it without putting it to stock.

I seem to be seeing a lot of people complaining about the issue. It's been an issue with the Pixel since the beginning, apparently, but it seems to have gotten worse with the May update.
With that said, I did make another change around the same time... I had switched from Project Fi to a Verizon MVNO, and so I flashed the Verizon system image (from the Google Factory images page) rather than the standard one, since it supposedly had some Verizon-specific fixes.

I don't know. That was the only change that I'd made at the time, though. It's gotten really annoying, so I've flash PureNexus with ElementalX to see if that would make a difference. I haven't been using it long enough to say one way or the other.

I flashed PureNexus on Friday and used its default kernel over the weekend without any troubles. I've only now flashed Elemental X this morning. Time will tell, I guess!
Edited to add: When I was on the stock rom and kernel, it was freezing while I was using it, requiring me to restart the phone. I would also go to use it after it had been asleep for a while, only to have it do the "Android is Starting" thing. So yes, it was restarting at idle as well as when I was using it.

Well, I guess the problem with my phone was unrelated. It completely died yesterday afternoon. I'm doing the RMA thing with Google now.
I started having this issue with Android O
I have unlocked version.maybe an app, I'm going to do a reset

Well, after getting the phone back reloading the stock image and re-rooting it, I went into developer options and turned off ota updates. So, hopefully I don't get that update... even though root doesn't allow to update. Just causes annoying update prompts.
So since about 2 days ago the phone just start freezing. Sometimes it just restarted randomly, but mainly freezing at least every 5 minutes. The power button alone wouldn't turn it off no matter how long I held it. Always have to use Pwr+Vol Down to reboot.
I put up with it because I've been busy, but finally tried wiping cache - no profit. Tried safe mode - no profit. Factory reset- negative profit. After the reset it just seems to restart a bit more often but in general it freezes less, making the timing seem even more random.
This happened when I first got it (used). It was restarting due to the fresh 7.0 update. So a factory reset fixed it and it was smooth sailing for like 3 months or something. I know there was a minor system update a few days ago but those dont usually call for a factory reset. I tried it anyway and it just didnt work. I had actually even tried uninstalling all the app updates from the night before it started happening. but safe mode couldn't even fix the problem so I guess that was moot.
Software version: G920VVRS4DQE1

Mainly I'd like to know if Im alone. A fix would be great but I'm hoping it's not specific to my device. If it's a hardware issue I'm gonna give it a swift toss down the stairs and maybe deliver a nasty curb stomp to it right afterward.
Any advice?
I'm running into the same exact issue. Same build, and am running out of ideas.

Good to know its not just me. Did it start after a recent update for you also? That would give me hope that its not faulty hardware. Maybe just a bad update.

Same for Verizon. I guess I'll just hold out, using a backup phone, until a new update hopefully fixes it.

Gonna go ahead and revive this. It seems to work fine when the sim card is out. I recommend you see if it's the same with you. I've charged it up before work multiple times before work days and come home from to see that it never restarted. I was able to test this using the fingerprint feature; it isn't asking me to use pattern like it does after boot.
No one else is chiming in but, since we're both on Verizon, I'm having a feeling that it's directly related to the SIM/carrier.
