First most important, you need to make a NVflash backup of your bootloader, BEFORE PROCEED to upgrade. This is very important, once you upgrade you will not able to do so.

So did you make a NVflash backup yet? if not you shouldn't proceed. So your device haven't found any OTA update when you check for update in settings -> about tablet-->check for update?

Let do one step at a time. NVflash is very very critical, once you upgrade you will not able to do this. NVflash backup help you to recover from a soft brick situation. After you done with NVflash, here is how to manual upgrade to JB.
1) Download the .30 verion firmware from Asus site (make sure if you in US, you should download the US version of .30)

2) Extract the .zip file somehwere on your desktop (the result will be another .zip file,use it for step 3)
3) Rename the extracted file to EP201_768_SDUPDATE.ZIP and copy it to the ROOT of a MicroSD card or INTERNAL SD card.
4) Use this button combination to get to stock recovery mode
Turn off tablet. Pressing Volume Down and POWER button together until you see white text message appeared on the screen, now release both buttons. Now press Volume UP button (before the 5 seconds expire).At this point the device will go in recovery and should start updating your firmware .
Once done, I will go into how to root.

Most of bricking caused by operators' errors, like using the wrong recovery, wrong bootloader/wrong version for the rom etc.., but if you careful, by doing search and ask first then it's pretty safe to flash custom rom.

None at all. Let assumed you did the nvflash (backup your .26 bootloader). The simple process would be, download full .30 rom from Asus site, place on root of your external micro SD card or internal SDcard, boot into stock recovery and flash it. Next root your device, then download OTA root keeper to save your root. Let OTA upgrade your device, if OTA is not working, then manually upgrade to JB. Once on JB, use OTA root keeper to restore root. That's it.

Well, if you plan to run custom rom, you need to unlock and custom roms come pre-rooted, so you don't have to worry about losing root.

On your PC you need the following:
1. Android SDK (should comes with ADB and fastboot commands).
2. USB driver for your device.
You are going to use fastboot command to install custom recovery, or you could download Goomanager from Googleplay and install TWRP this way. Once you have TWRP/CWR, you boot into custom recovery mode (hold down volume down and power button), then find the custom rom then flash it, pretty straight forward.

Check the device firmware type by going to Setting - about tablet - built number
Download the right firmware pack for your device.

Now extract the zip file and you will have another zip file.
Rename that zip file as "EP201_768_SDUPDATE" and place it to an external sd card if you do not have a custom recovery. If you are rooted and unlocked plus you have a custom recovery you don't need to rename it you can place it in internal sd is well.
Now turn off your device. Hold power button including the volume down button and enter custom recovery. For stock recovery it should detect it automatically and will install. once in custom recovery clear your cache and install the file with the name above or whatever name you have. once installation is complete. reboot the system be patient and you have the latest update.
You can obtain root easily using this method.
Just download the DebugfsRoot_Generic_v2.3.zip file from here

Make sure you have USB debugging on.

Yes you will lose root.

No. when you unlocked it clearly stated no more ota updates for you.
Yes. of course you can flash manually just like any other rom.

You don't need to have stock rom. As long as you have the stock kernel your ok. You will of course lose custom recovery but its easy to download again as i have mentioned in my first post.
There is a lengthy way to do this. But why do that when it takes you literally 2 minute to root it with DebugfsRoot .

It's not a problem. It can take up to 2-3 months for updates to roll out completely to all regions and serial numbers.
Yeah, I dont have it either.
I do know it takes time though
which is why most of the time we force it with a ROM update

I don't know if you did it, but you won't get the update once you unlocked the bootloader and rooted your tab.
....That wouldn't prevent the OTA from being showing as available and downloading, though. It just prevents install. That can be remedied, though...I was rooted and unlocked and just returned to stock to get the last OTA.

Can you please post how you returned the bootloader to stock, or "locked" ? My A700 is rooted and unlocked. I can "hide" the root with OTA Rootkeeper, but I am not sure how to return the unlocked bootloader back to stock.

Even though this worked for me, you should still do this at your own risk....I'm not an expert, I just got lucky.
1. Get Android SDK & the official Acer USB Drivers http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html & http://support.acer.com/product/default.aspx?modelId=4318

3. Install Clockwork Recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1791165
- I had to install this (6.0.1.4) recovery.img using the BAT file from this post. IMPORTANT! DO NOT INSTALL THE recovery.img FROM THAT (5.5.0.4) LINK! It will brick you. Replace it with the one from the first thread above ( CWM v.6.0.1.4).
4. Download the appropriate FULL ROM for your device. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1720157
5. Follow the directions in this link. If you can't get update.zip to run from an external SD (I couldn't) then try it from the root directory of your internal SD. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1812635
After you've done it all, be sure to choose "NO" when you reboot the system from CWM, otherwise CWM is still going to be there and you're probably going to be unable to get future updates.

Thanks! I was able to get the 1.0.29 flashed back and have stock bootloader with no root. I did NOT install CWM because I am going to wait for JB before I do any root or recovery modes. I am looking to try to find the Acer ROM AV043.RV23RC03_PA_CUS1 ROM because it was what I had on the tablet and was an update over 1.0.29. If you know where I can get it, I would appreciate it. Yep, unlocked bootloader. The link you provided is what I've been trying to do. Just like the other person at the end of the thread, I get a signature error during boot and my recovery remains custom with TWRP. I'm not sure what the problem is, this is why I am considering nvflash.

If it's not working for you, you could try to downgrade to .22. Basically, download full .22 version, extract, renamed and copy to your SDcard then use twrp to flash.

you don't have to use nvflash for this,just download JB from Asus site and install with TWRP,done.Why you need o complicate your life?
Hmmm, I thought the process for getting to jb was to first upgrade to .30. From what I've searched through, I've only found instructions to upgrade to .30 by means of stock recovery. Is it possible to jump straight to jb from .26?

haha, I doubt that anyone here have tried to go directly from .26 to JB, You probably the first if you try. Why don't you twrp to .30 and let the OTA to JB? based on my knowledge, OTA upgrade one version at a time.

OK let start over. This is how i would do this:
1. Downloaded .26 from Asus site.

Sure if you want to, download .30. Tablet should pick it up, make sure you unzip it first. Yes, you're correct you have to upgrade using manual process. Every methods here on XDA are not 100% work for everyone (you already knew that). But it should work for most ppl.

Mate do you actually know what you are saying? The JB firmware from Asus site it's a full rom not just an OTA (incremental) update, this means you can update from any version (do you see any word from Asus saying you must be on. 30 before installing?) because everything will be updated (BL, Kernel, etc) so installing this with TWRP will get you Full Stock JB (yes, you will loose twrp too).

My personal opinion on that is that Asus did this because they made a mess by letting people install TF300T Jelly Bean on TF700T (that should never be possible with locked bootloader and official firmware) so they updated the bootloader on .30 update so ppl could downgrade from that tf300t Jelly Bean rom.Maybe i'm wrong,but it does make sense and if i'm not wrong TF700T is the only transformer device that can downgrade from JB to ICS so easily.
Good news, I was able to flash .30 and now jb. I had no idea it was that simple. I thought I had to be back on stock recovery. Thanks for the help guys.

Guys you can just install the JB firmware from asus. Unzip, flash that file in twrp and boom straight from .26 to JB with no issues. It even keeps all your data.
I went back to stock (nandroid) on my Verizon S3 and did the JB update but ROM Manager doesn't work and I can't flash Clockwordmod. I am not very knowledgeable on this. Did I lose root? It still seems unlocked. Do I need to re-root? Are instructions to do this under the new JB update somewhere?

Anytime you flash to stock, you will lose root. You will need to root before you do anything else. You can either flash clockwork mod through odin and then root the sd zip file, or you can follow the root method with your PC through your USB.

I actually did the steps on that page before I posted here but I kept getting a failure message in ODIN. Maybe it has something to do with Windows 8? Also very possible I'm not doing something right. I'll have to keep working on it I guess.

I have a me301t, basically the same as a tf300t right? (there is no me301t forum right now). I am on 4.2.1 stock (root), but the Bluetooth isn't working, so I am wanting to reflash the stock firmware. I want to keep a locked bootloader, so I can still have warranty if I please. I've looked up a couple of videos of how to, but I am wondering if root will mess up the flashing process. I've also been wondering if I can keep root after flash with Voodoo root keeper. Any advice?

Steps:-
1. Download the latest ROM from ASUS website Which matches your SKU.(Important).
It would look somehing like this (TF300T-TW_epad-10_6_1_15_3-UpdateLauncher . zip)
2. Extract it and rename that file to ( EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip )
3. Now copy this new renamed file to SDCARD (Root of sd card). Put the SDcard into tablet.
4. Now Press and hold Volume Down + Power for a few seconds. Then you will see the ASUS recovery options.
5. 3 icons will appear: RCK, Android, and Wipe Data. The RCK should be flashing green. Press the UP Volume Key Once.
Now wait for a few minutes. It will flash the ROM.
And wola! Your TF300T will again work fine!!

Thanks, but I already figured it out, by looking on another forum. I didn't know that you could install a non-stock rom locked though

You can't without unlocking. He means a compatible Asus ROM.
The ROM has to be signed by Asus, so that method I quoted will only work for Stock ROMS
