[Q] Why are alot of games not compatable??? Help - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Guys,
I have a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. I have purchased quite a few games and noticed that I can play them on my phone but they are not compatible or in the market for my tab. I use an HTC One V rooted with AOKP JB for my phone and can play Batman, Asphalt and others. I would really like to play the new Modern Combats that are out but they are not compatiable. Anyone know the reason why. I figured it becuase it doesn't have the Tegra processor and such, but I can overclock both CPU and GPU. I am totally willing to pay for these games and the games I have paid for would really like to play.
Is there any work around. Possibly tricking the market in thinking my Tab is something else to be able to download them?
Thanks

I was wondering the same thing.
some people might reply saying should of got tablet with the tegra processor
but those tablet dont have some things that this tablet has.

Do not know why these are not compatible with our tab.but most incompatible game when sideloaded works fine without any lag.
search YouTube for "modern tab on galaxy tab on 2" it works good on our tab.

New games for Tegra 3 and not Tegra 2

Has anyone noticed that there a new games popping up in the Tegra Zone that state they are built specifically for Tegra 3 devices?
Are we going to get left behind on the newest games because we have the Tegra 2?
Anyone have thoughts on this?
Considering the market for !iPad and that Tegera 3 isn't going to power that big a precentage of remaining Android devices in general, at worst get the "Normal" version instead of T3HD or w/e bull they are calling it now.

It probably says so the TF Prime can utilize it. Im guessing most games should be playable on both, but when it detects quad core, it will increase all the settings. But, im not sure. I know a few games are going to do this, I think Shadowgun.
yea seems that way. but would def be stupid for devs to not make games backward compatible for at least tegra 2 devices.
It will. Look at shadowgun and riptide gp

It would be stupid for devs not to make games backward compatible with `high definition` systems, as so many people typically seem to name their app.

games will probably be exclusive for tegra 3 for a month or so then they will release another version unless the game cannot run on slower hardware.
Games should have settings like PC games do. 1 version with graphical sliders. Why isn't this happening in all games?
There simply aren't enough Tegra 3 (or Tegra 2) devices to develop specifically for. Backwards compatibility would be wise. No game should be Tegra 3 only yet aside from a few tech demos.
Plus it would be a way to sell Tegra 3 devices too. Give me a new game with Tegra 3 support and let me enable all the goodies Tegra 3 supports and see how the game runs. This is why I used to purchase video cards all the time growing up. Run a new game at full glory because it looked pretty but ran at 19fps... whoops, gotta go get a new $500 video card to play a $49 game better.
If they separate the versions then non-Tegra users and Tegra 2 users never know what they are missing.
I also want an upgradable GPU IN MY PHONE!!!!
I agree. They should be all backward compatible. I also like the idea of being able to scale back the graphics to run on older devices and to tempt us to upgrade.
I want an upgradable gpu for my transformer! lol Don't think any of that is ever going to happen.
I saw that in the demo of Glow Ball that is in the Tegra Zone it says it was meant for Tegra 3 and only Tegra 3 processors were capable of handling the intense graphics. It even goes as far to show you want it looks like without the Tegra 3 (on non Tegra processor I believe) graphics which pretty much makes the game not worth it.
Blowfish Studios are making a Tegra 2 then Tegra 3 version of Siegecraft THD. The Tegra 3 version will be a pushed update to the previous version, so I'm told.
Somehow I remember reading somewhere that file picker = bad according to some important Android guy at Google. Which is probably while you get nothing out of their stuff but you get OI File Manager out of CyangonMod. I wouldn't be surprised if someone felt the same way about game settings, especially considering that people probably change phones about as fast as AAA+ games have short shelf lives (ala COD sh!t).
Unless you want to make several sales per device, THD and the rest is all bull.
Buying FooGame and installing it on e.g. an Optimus One should give you a modest ARMv6 friendly APK, lower end build with graphics tuned for common devices of it's era. Installing it on a TFP should give you a Tegera 3 optimised version of the APK. Got a Galaxy Nexus? Different APK than the Transformers, plus another "Generic" APK that is OK on any phone powerful enough to run it. If memory serves we either have this ability in the market or are getting it soon(tm).
That takes care of your old handset, your super tablet, and your new handset. Even better is the licensing option, uninstall from the Optimus One and install on the Galaxy Nexus or whatever you want out of the markets settings. Just like buying a new PC you can transfer the game over, but just like a console: it also would mean no matter what they play off, your less techy relatives that don't know crud about tech don't even have to figure out game settings. Ain't that awesome?
But oh wait, if we have to do that much work anyway for maximum market penetration, why not release FooGame, FooGame HD, FooGame T2HD, and FooGame T3HD? That way we have the option for charging customers by the processor type and bloat our stats to look good to share holders? --> follow the money.
If I'm wrong about the last three paragraphs someone correct me, other wise I think it's all bull. Some companies are really nice about it if you buy one version but in the end, there's no reason for it, except to try and make more $$$ if wanted.
If I'm probably right and it is mostly bull, how about hitting the thanks button to let me know I'm not an idiot?

Question About 7.0 Plus vs Thrive or Transformer

I recently got the 7.0 plus as a late Christmas gift. I like the size of the tablet because it is nice and light and goes everywhere. However, I have a few cons that I am wondering if they are deal breakers for me.
The first is the lack of games that can be played on the 7.0 plus. I don't want my tablet to play games all the time but I was hoping to be able to play a few games (like riptide or asphalt6) and this tablet cannot play those types of games.
The second is that some tablet apps don't work on this device and I would guess that is because of the 7 inch size. I was hoping to mainly use the device to read news, magazines and books. I do not care too much about videos because I have a laptop that can handle all HD videos I throw at it.
I'm stuck between size, weight and portability versus games and proper apps. Does anyone know how the Thrive, Transformer or Samsung 8.9 tablet handle these things?
Thanks for any help
Have you tried Chainfire? This may allow you to play the games you mentioned. As far as the other apps are concerned, you may want to contact the developers. They may just need to update the app so it recognizes the 7.0 Plus as a tablet.
Keep in mind, this tablet is relatively new, and my guess is, many issues like this will be resolved in due time.

Agreed chainfire is about your only option right now. With that said the exynos chips are very very good....just give it some more time for the dev community to pick up.

I second what the posters above have already said. Chainfire 3D will allow you to play those games for now, but with time these games will be updated to work with the 7.0 Plus. The same goes for the tablet apps.
To answer your second question, the 8.9, (since it is Tegra 2) can handle everything you have discussed in your post, and it is closest in size to the 7.0 Plus of all of the tablets you have mentioned. If you like the portability of the 7.0 Plus, a move to the Transformer or the Thrive, (especially the Thrive as it is so thick,) will feel a good deal less portable.
My advice, (for what it's worth) would be to get chainfire3D for now to play the games and then stop using it or even get rid of it once the games have been updated for your tablet. The tablet apps will be updated, it will just take a few more weeks. (I seriously doubt it would take more than 3 more weeks for developers to update their apps.) I hope this helps. Have fun with your tablet.

HUH? Riptide works great even without chainfire. Asphalt 6 on the other hand is fairly new and still doesn't support our tablet officially. But there are some workarounds with that. (thanks to chrisrotolo for teaching me )
Well, I haven't really found any tablet optimized app that doesn't work on the GTab+. I think it is compatible with our device but maybe it's not available on your country?

I was messing around with the dpi and find if you change it to 132 if the app has a tablet optimized version it will show properly on the tab. Try it with the IMDB app you'll see what I mean.
Thanks for the responses guys! I tried riptide and it FC'd. I'm in America and the apps I was talking about is thinks like CNN Tablet Edition cannot even be installed. It says it does not recognize my device.
I will have to try chainfire and see how it works! Thanks again for the help
Actually, can anyone help me so I can get the games to work?

Honeycomb fail

Hey guys!
Yesterday, I bought myself a iconia a100. I found out today that the main apps I wanted to use are not compatible with honeycomb! (plants vs zombies, for one). My question is, will the ICS update allow me to install handset apps or will I still not be able to kill me some zombies?
I'm starting to think I should have bought a playbook. At least that one had the game and hot shots golf 2!
I wanted the Android tablet because of the market, but if some of the apps don't work, wouldn't the RIM market be similar in size?

I'm running ICS on my Touchpad and 95% of my apps work directly from the market with it no questions asked, there are a few headset apps that I wasn't able to download from the market directly but downloading the .APK and installing it that way worked perfect for me
Android 4.0 being for both Tablets and Phones has much better overall compatibility then Android 3.0
As Far as Android apps for Playbook there is a growing number of apps but if you want to use android apps a Android Device will always be your best option
Thank you for the response Forrest,
I also just discovered that none of the gameloft games are compatibly with the a100.
So NO good games work, plants vs zombies is one of my favorites on my phone and I can't play it on this new tablet? Arg, this a100 feels like a waste of money now. Does anyone know any work-arounds or anything so that I can get some games? The only good games I have on it now are Inotia 3 and Reckless Racing 2. All my other games aren't compatible.
Is there a way to make the a100 tablet behave like, let's say, a Samsung tablet? Similar to how you can change user agent in a browser?
My iconia a100 has ICS and is rooted. There must be something I can do to get the incompatible games...some kind of work around. I want plants vs zombies and let's golf 3, mainly. And the gameloft games would be great too. But none of these work on my tablet...
Can anyone help? :-(

tegra games?

i think note's processor should have the ability to play tegra games, am i right?
what should we do to be able to play them?
It's not a tegra device, so no. I've attempted to run several tegra only games using chainfire 3d, but it really just doesn't work. I've gotten the mass effect 3 wallpaper and dark meadow to work. Which is all limited to the Note 10.1, because I haven't been able to make ANYTHING work on my Galaxy S3. Just attempted Horn which is tegra 2 and 3, and it closes out before anything happens. If you want to play tegra only games, you'll want a tegra device. Or you can do what I do and make angry faces for nvidia causing a divide in the market, developers allowing it to happen by making tegra only games, and the consumers who happily support it. >.>
Some games like Dead Trigger can be hacked to enable Tegra3-only Ultra High graphics details with a simple file edit. I can confirm this works on my GN 10.1 and it's actually more stable and smoother than Tegra3 on my Nexus 7.

Same with Tab 2 works perfectly with most games. Also if you are looking for a good tablet other than the Tab 2 then look at the Nexus 7 or Nexus 10.
