silver xoom

hello, I have the opportunity to but a xoom. I would love to have it but it has a silver back? I was only aware of xooms with black backs. Is this a special model? Maybe its for a different country? Sorry if it a noob question.
European 3G Xooms have a silver back.
What is the difference between the USA and European? Will it still use my google account and give me all my paid apps? He says its only wifi and not 3g? Will the Wifi work on USA routers? Sorry again if this is noob stuff.
Maybe the black coating was removed?

If it's a WIFI only device then there is no difference. You can install US firmware and it will be exactly the same as US WIFI only Xoom.
But only Xoom that i know that has a silver back is the European 3G version. European Xooms are not GED, so updates don't come directly from Google. As far as i know, European Xooms are still running Android 3.1

[Q] 4G Upgrade

I have an MZ601 3G Xoom that I purchased in Asia. I will be going to the US in a few weeks, and was wondering if someone could clear up a few things for me:
1. Is my Xoom eligible for the 4G upgrade?
2. If so, will I still be able to use my Xoom on 3G networks when I am in Asia and Europe?
3. How would I go about doing the upgrade in that it seems to be through Verizon and this Xoom has never been affiliated with Verizon?
4. Since I am running the EOS ICS version 1.0 ( fantastic ROM, by the way), I assume that I would need to change ROM versions after the upgrade?
I appreciate it if anyone could help clear up these questions so that I don't end up doing something that I will regret later on.
Thanks in advance!

Carrier limitations in USA

Hi I have been really considering getting the RAZR Maxx HD but I see only Verizon has it on lock, wondering if anyone has tried rooting it to make it usable on other carriers?
Somebody was able to modify the RAZR M's radio to work with the Verizon RAZR HD's to use 3G on AT&T and T-Mobile. See below.

Droid Razr HD Maxx w/ T-Mobile 3G/H+
Sorry wanted to post pics but forgot last time lol. Use NV Editor and had no problems. Picked up the APN automatically
ive been looking fpr this all day help please
hey man i have the same phone as the pictures u posted, and i really need help getting it to work on the t mobile network and getting atleast decent speeds, do you think you can help me out?
I will post a HowTo for doing the required NV edit for this mod using RadioComm later tonight after work.
This method avoids the need for force loading the QV Diagnostic Port drivers by using Factory boot mode which allows RadioComm full NV read/write access.
How is this possible? I thought cdma phones were incompatible with gsm networks and vice versa?

The RAZR HD [Verizon variant] is considered a 'global phone' and can work around the world as it does have not only CDMA/LTE radios, (check it out on gsm arena as can't recall at the moment) but also GSM/3G/H+ as well. Thing is Verizon is stingy and have blocked it so it will not work in the USA without any issues, but all you have to do it change a fw settings in the radio. Funny they are as they just don't LEARN, the first time, nor the second or any other following time by just letting the phone be unlocked as sooner or later, we will get it unlocked or rooted. *sigh, Verizon*

Second (possibly 3rd hand xoom) Help needed

So purchased a xoom off ebay.
Title ' Motorola Xoom 2 MZ601 32gb, Wi-Fi AND 3G unlocked to any network'
Description claimed person never used 3g only on wifi (suspicions going here) but gave him benefit of doubt.
Bought Tuesday and received today, whacked working 3g sim into device and nothing. Signal icon bottom left changed from triangle with x in to sim icon with question mark.
Looked at kernel and and firmware and appears to me that he might have tried to mod this or manually update the xoom. Details attached
I would like to get my 3g connection working again, I noticed this has usa firmware on and don't know where this device originated from.
I have serial numbers and imei numbers from the box... which he kept if this helps but not sure how to identify what stock rom i need.
So my questions,
1. Has this been modded?
2. Can i revert this back to a stock rom and if so which one?
Thanks
Ben

Hi it looks that you have some problems, but bow worries... So what device is this one? Just go to settings and on the bottom go to "about tablet ", because the guy sold it as Xoom 2 MZ601,the problem is MZ601 is Xoom 1. Tell me that and I may be able to help you
Edit: just saw your screen shot lol, so to restore to Stock you may try finding your answer on the FAQ I already answered that question btw, just look there

HTC One S Radio signal issues

Hi, I'm not the most technologically savvy person but I know my fair share.
When I select for Preferred Network Mode: WCDMA Only I get a 1 or 2 bar connection. On my old Motorola Defy when I changed sims over to it, it got a 4 or 5 bar connection. My phone is unlocked and running on the Optus network in Australia.
My Baseband version is: 16.22.20.03U_16.11.20.24_M
Am I using the wrong rom?
Thanks.
Just try updating to the latest radio, you can find a radio pack in the dev section.
