hello, I have the opportunity to but a xoom. I would love to have it but it has a silver back? I was only aware of xooms with black backs. Is this a special model? Maybe its for a different country? Sorry if it a noob question.
European 3G Xooms have a silver back.
What is the difference between the USA and European? Will it still use my google account and give me all my paid apps? He says its only wifi and not 3g? Will the Wifi work on USA routers? Sorry again if this is noob stuff.
Maybe the black coating was removed?

If it's a WIFI only device then there is no difference. You can install US firmware and it will be exactly the same as US WIFI only Xoom.
But only Xoom that i know that has a silver back is the European 3G version. European Xooms are not GED, so updates don't come directly from Google. As far as i know, European Xooms are still running Android 3.1

Does anybody know if flashing 3.2 (or any wifi model rom) will work on a 3g model? I'm not interested in 3g working. I have no interest in giving Verizon any money. I just need Wifi and tethering to work.

Don't do it......its not compatible. You will wreck your xoom. Just wait a week or two and it would come out for vzw models.

I have an MZ601 3G Xoom that I purchased in Asia. I will be going to the US in a few weeks, and was wondering if someone could clear up a few things for me:
1. Is my Xoom eligible for the 4G upgrade?
2. If so, will I still be able to use my Xoom on 3G networks when I am in Asia and Europe?
3. How would I go about doing the upgrade in that it seems to be through Verizon and this Xoom has never been affiliated with Verizon?
4. Since I am running the EOS ICS version 1.0 ( fantastic ROM, by the way), I assume that I would need to change ROM versions after the upgrade?
I appreciate it if anyone could help clear up these questions so that I don't end up doing something that I will regret later on.
Thanks in advance!
Hi guys.
I'm from Germany.
I want to know which xoom is the best.
The most important thing is the support. (Updates)
Are there difference or is the support the same (xoom 1,2,media)
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda premium
The Xoom 2 is an awful successor to the Xoom.
The Xoom Media is also not worth getting due to its lackluster support/development and the fact that it is not a GED.
If you are considering a Xoom, get the original Xoom.
And are there differece between the 3g and the wifi version

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there are basically 3 versions of the original Xoom:
MZ604 - wingray - wifi only
MZ600 - stingray - Verizon version
MZ601 and MZ603 - everest - gsm version
Now here is the tricky part. The stingray started out as a EVDO Verizon tablet, but then was upgradable to LTE by sending it in. If I understand correctly, all of the custom roms for stingray are for the LTE upgraded version. It is now TOO LATE to send them in for the upgrade. If you buy a stingray that wasn't upgraded, you are screwed. Personally I would stay away from the ones that weren't upgraded. Also keep in mind the everest seems to have a little less developer support than the wingray and stingray. You can't go wrong with the wingray.
Okay. Thx. Correct me when i'm wrong. The wingray Version is the wifi only .am i right?

Correct. That is the one I have.
I've got the so called european xoom (mz601), but what i think is that it's not european, it's international. Thats because it works in almost every country on earth (it is a standard gsm bands). For example it works on AT&T in america (i've not tested this, but google says that it does work).
I myself have used my Xoom in most of europe, in russia and middle east. It's just great. The only thing i don't like about the mz601 is the lack of development (it only has 2 custom roms: Team EOS and Codename Android). But the fact that you can travel the world and use a 3g connection almost everywhere is very nice. You cant do that with the verizon Xoom. The wingray is of course very good (it's a Google Experience Device) but i myself need the 3g.
Even if i lived in the states i still would not get the stingray version. I would rather get the umts_everest and have the option to use other service providers than verizon or wingray if i really did not need the 3g/4g connectivity.
I hope anyone from the states can confirm that the mz601 works in america?
i actually want a xoom with 3g.
Cause of Google drive.
Are there informations about a jelly bean Update for the 3g Version in the EU
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda premium
Definitely xoom1
Support is perfect! Official motorola support in europe might be paintfull with long waiting for updates ec but once you root it and install custom rom you get support, updates, everything you need
3G owner on smooth eos-jb-
Good luck!
okay thx. So i will Buy xoom 1 3g.
Is rooting diffucult Or is there a easy one click Methode.

Its not really one click, but quite easy, if you are willing to read some threads. You might start with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26285977. I can also really recommend to use the JB ROM from TeamEOS. Really great work!
Hi guys
I recently bought a generic unbranded HTC ONE SV from a German website, as I was looking for an LTE-enabled phone that didn't have a screen big as a flatscreen TV.
I have had the phone now for a couple of weeks and I am overall happy with it. The only problem is that it does not seem to get any LTE action. My operator (Tele2 Sweden) assures me my sim card is enabled for 4G and I live in the center of a city with excellent 4G coverage. Yet, my phone shows an H at best (haven't actually ever seen even an H+).
Digging around this and other forums, I found a few indications that my ONE SV version K2_U (model id PL8013000) might actually not have support for LTE after all.
It seems also all ROM updates currently available are for the K2_UL model, including the one for JB (I have tried to flash these to my device after unlocking/rooting/s-offing it, but never actually managed to succeed with it, while I can flash and reflash the stock ROM for the k2_u version)
TBH I am quite confused: all HTC websites and reviews refer to the ONE SV as an LTE enabled phone, and I cannot find any official reference to the fact that there might be a version of this phone without LTE... So I wonder if maybe I am doing something wrong, or if maybe there is a software lock that has disabled LTE on my phone and that I can fix.
Or have I simply been screwed?
With the Easter holidays I'll have to wait until Tuesday to be able to call HTC... so if in the meantime anybody has any idea I would really appreciate it
There seems to be a lot of K2_U, non-LTE, in the US. You can have a look on the One SV root thread you'll find some.
In fact, in germany the LTE version is ONLY sold by operators (O2, Vodafone, Telekom).
All others come without LTE.

You'd think HTC would mention that on their website though... I am not upset about them selling a non-LTE version of the phone, I am outraged by the fact that they don't bother informing consumers that a phone advertised as LTE also happens to have a non-LTE version... I have also contacted them trough the htc.com website, but they did not bother to answer either.
If I had more time to waste on this I'd probably complain with the German consumer protection authorities, but TBH I have learned my lesson and this is the last HTC I buy
Thanks for your replies guys!
What does LTE means? I currently have old.splatterhands non-LTE stock rom installed for my HTC One SV. But for unknown reason, WiFi and radio connection are very weak.
LTE is fast, mobile internet.

You have the stock back/battery cover on the phone?
When you have a phone with LTE, it should be written on the backcover (4G LTE, or something like that).
If there is only written beatsaudio, you have non-LTE.
Thanks - non-LTE however

Seems you are rooted, so you can try this: Saturn III
Hopefully a question with a simple answer. Will an american version of this phone work in europe?
My wife wants an android phone with a physical keyboard and this is one of very few I can find.
Anyone in UK used one?

I'm pretty sure as long as it it's unlocked you'll be fine...however I cannot confirm so don't quote me.

The phone supports GSM 2G 850/900/1800/1900 Mhz, and 3G HSDPA 1700/2100 Mhz ranges. This means 99% that it should be able to work with your GSM operator, but you'd better ask his tech support.
I use this phone in greece so I guess you will have no problem.

Thanks for all the replies! Looks like it's definitely worth a go
I use mine in England, as I wanted a physical keyboard too. Been using it for 2 years now, and it's all fine including 3G and HDSPA. I don't think it'll work with English 4G, but there's not much of that round by me anyway.
Had to get it SIM-unlocked, but after that it was straightforward. There were a few problems with the stock ROM (like group contacts) that didn't work ('cause I wasn't on T-mobile?), and I had to manually enter the APNs for data to work. These went away when I rooted it, and all subsequent ROMs picked up GiffGaff's APNs automatically.
The keyboard is ok, but don't get your hopes up too high. I say that simply because I presume you've never seen/tried one. It's also a bit of a heavyweight, much heavier than others. But I'd still recommend it, and nobody else you know will have one.

I bought an unlocked and uses it here in Sweden. Works like a charm.
