The philosophy of this ROM is to keep it as close as possible to pure CM10 whilst providing a tablet interface, because the Nexus 7 is a tablet, not a phone.
The ROM features the following:
Built daily from CyanogenMod 10 source.
Tablet UI independent of DPI.
Tablet UI can be toggled.
Custom DPI settings.
Settings menu reflects Tablet or Phablet modes.
Modified Trebuchet launcher for Tablet UI layout on the Nexus 7.
Expand desktop power menu option (now exported to CM10).
Clear all recent apps button.
Extra spaces in launcher dock for Phablet UI.
Goomanager hooks for notifications and incremental updates.
I will consider feature suggestions, but will only implement those which I feel enhance the tablet experience.
Download the ROM from here: http://goo.im/devs/zigackly/roms/grouper/tablet_ui
To install, wipe the caches if coming from CM10, do a factory reset if coming from another ROM, flash with the latest JB gapps from goo.im, and enjoy.
Credits:
CyanogenMod community for the code base and some cherry-picks.
Barmullio for the initial Tablet UI mod and the idea for how to mod Trebuchet.
D4rKn3sSyS and Paranoid Android for the ideas behind expand desktop and clear all recents mods.
sgt7 - for the content observer code I used in enabling tablet-ui toggling without a reboot.
JellyBeer ROM for Custom DPI changes and some settings utils.
This ROM is built from pure CM10 source, with just the tablet UI modifications detailed above. However if you want to patch an existing installation of CM10, you can use the patches from here:
http://goo.im/devs/zigackly/patches/grouper/tablet_ui
The latest patch should always work with the latest nightly build. Let me know if it does not, and I will release another patch.
Source code can be found here, in the tablet-build branches, unless there is a tablet-patch branch, in which case I use that for the patches:
https://github.com/zigackly
There are no known issues at present with this ROM which are not also present in CM10, however feel free to report bugs or ask for help and I'll do what I can.
When you finally implement a toggle can you have separate toggles for the status bar and the apps. I like to use the tablet status bar with the stock app layouts. The phablet apps are great. Its just the status bar that takes up too much room and is hard to reach the soft keys in the middle that sucks. The tablet combined bar solves both of those by having the soft keys on the side and not taking up as much vertical real estate. I used to use paranoid android but I am not a fan of the direction its been going in lately. They are starting to branch further away from cm by replacing the toggles with aokp phone style toggles but in the tablet UI. Even aokp uses the stock style toggles in the tab ui.

I know exactly what you mean. I think there comes a point in the lifecycle of many ROMs when the amount of customisation begins to detract from the user experience rather than add to it, and that's why I want to be careful to stick as closely to the standard CM10 experience as possible, because in many ways I admire their restraint in trying to keep it simple and standard across many devices.
I'm hoping the few features I have included here enhance the tablet experience without breaking that design simplicity, and if I found myself adding feature after feature, I'm sure I would eventually reach the point where I just didn't like the ROM any more.
I do love the basic premise with Paranoid Android of being able to adjust many aspects of the interface individually, but I also don't want to re-invent the wheel and make another PA. I like your idea of being able to separate the combined navbar/sysbar from the application interface though, and that's certainly something I can see myself looking into at some point down the line.
How soon I introduce those kind of features will be a combination of what time I can spend on it and how much I can learn along the way. It's not a big secret that I'm very new to Android development, even though I've been developing software at home or at work for over 25 years.
I think what you're suggesting would be valuable and interesting to play with though, so it's definitely going on the list
Another thing I'd like to work on is to have the ability to control where launchers put their application docks. I like the way in the stock ROM that the dock moves to the side when you go into landscape mode, as it leaves a consistent amount of real estate in the home screen. Most tablet UIs, including mine, break that, so if I can make it a user choice how those bars behave, then that would also be a useful mod for me.
Getting Trebuchet to retain the dock in tablet mode would be a start!

Thanks that would be great. Trebuchet and phablet mode are essentially the tablet ui with the dock. In landscape it looks almost identical. I don't think theres really any reason to try to force the tab UI with the dock.

If it's something the user can choose rather than have forced on them, then it's worthwhile. Personally I don't like the notification shade in phablet mode, but I do use the dock, so I end up using Nova Launcher instead of Trebuchet with Tablet mode, but with Nova the dock is either at the bottom or on the side, and you don't get that stock hybrid approach.
If I find a way to keep the dock in tablet mode though, I would want it to be a user choice whether it appears and how it behaves. We all want things to work differently, so it's nice if they are configurable.

Yeah. What I was saying is the stock phablet trebuchet layout is fine. Its the phablet status bar that is bad. Changing that is part of systemui not trebuchet. What I was suggesting essentially looks like this.

Looks nice, that's what I want too. Now I just have to do the work
Great Rom. One thing I saw in the sgt7 rom was the recent apps viewer had larger screenshots. This ended up being a much nicer experience for me on the n7 than the small thumbnails that most other roms have. I don't know how difficult that is to implement or if people even want it so it's entirely up to you. Just thought I would ask since it seems like an excellent tablet tweak to me. Here is a screenshot of it on the sgt7 rom:

Thanks for the feedback.
I have actually already implemented this feature in my codebase for my CM10 kang for the Moto Xoom, so if people want it, I would just have to pull in the commits for the next build. It didn't pass code review for CM10 because they felt that fewer apps were visible in the recents menu per page, but personally I like the bigger thumbnails more than having lots visible.
I guess I could try it out and if people don't like it, I can tweak it. Anyone else have any thoughts on it? It could go into tomorrow's build.

I'd prefer being able to see more apps so I'd say no.

I'd also prefer to keep the smaller thumbnails, personally, as I use the tablet in landscape orientation a lot (and I'd guess the number of recent apps displayed in landscape would be very few). Would there be any chance of making it a toggle? Or even allowing users to just specify the size of the thumbs themselves?
Thanks for providing the ROM and the patches, though -- I don't get why Google ever thought losing screen realestate on a 7" tab was a good idea, especially after they'd spent some time developing an excellent interface just for tablets ...
---------- Post added at 06:41 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:26 AM ----------
Also, a quick bug report on the latest ROM and patch (15th October) -- with "percentage" as the battery style, the percent charge is now incorrectly justified when the notifications/settings panel is displayed -- it's not next to the battery icon as it should be (and used to be) but is now over by the settings icon. (I don't know if this is a bug with your patches, though, or with the CM code itself ...)
Have you thought about submitting the expanded desktop power menu patch to CM? It makes a huge difference on a 7" screen ...

I've just taken a look on the Motorola Xoom which is in tablet mode naturally without any code changes, and that issue you describe with the battery percentage is the same on the Xoom as well, therefore it is an issue with the CM10 code base itself, not my changes.
The expanded desktop changes are in review right now on CM's Gerrit site. Not sure what the outcome will be, but my gut feeling is that it probably won't be merged. I don't take credit for that, by the way, I kanged it from other ROMs.
Many of my changes are kanged. No point re-inventing the wheel.
Giving this a shot. Will report back.
Been running it for the last hour or so w francos kernel and all is good. I really wish we had the option of changing the navigation bar height though. Overall, pretty solid.
Woo! *subscribed to thread*
One feature request (I have it on my S2), is a "kill all" button for the recent apps list. Saves having to "swipe" each and every recent app.
I was thinking about both those features (reduced nav bar height and kill all recents).
I will add them to my ever-growing list of things I might want to work on. No promises though
10/15 flashed great over official CM10 10/15. I love the tablet ui I think I'll stick with this.
Thanks!

Find any combination you like, scale and project apps, widgets and system components! Modes and DPI will differ for the Epic.
To be honest, this is not tablet mode at all, it has nothing to do with silly build.prop hacks. This is the first and only Android rom to feature true Hybrid mode. This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even systemcomponents individually. Remember, android is modular, everything is an app: Lockscreen, navigationbar, dialogs, popups, keyboards, widgets, and your regular apps of course. Apps have the capability to switch into various designs or layouts according to the device they run on. This can result in a complete new experience as many apps will transform to the better.
Now for every element that you like chose a mode (PhoneUI, Phablet/Nexus-7UI, TabletUI) and/or a size. You are 100% independent of the system DPI which runs nicely in whatever value it has been assigned to. You do not need to boot your phone into a certain DPI. Neither will most of the changes you apply require a reboot. You will not suffer from the myriads of troubles which normally haunt you under build.prop tablet mode. Your market, phone, etc. will all work, apps won't shrink on you unless you shrink them yourself. This project will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the feel of your phone.

1. Try everything you can, find solutions for yourself. Wipe caches, revert all your settings you have made, go back to your stock Kernel, factory reset if you have to or reflash the rom. Assume that the issue is on your side and try your best to isolate it.
2. Search this thread and Cyanogenmods aswell (its our base) for possible reoccurences of your issue and hopefully solutions that may have come up.

20120810v1.9.8alpha
Project butter recents in tabUI (2/2)
Quick access hybrid properties by longpressing a recent app
More refined hybrid algorithm to reveal more layout containers
TabletUI toggles
All recent cm merges (Trebuchet, googles 4.1.1 r4 with a whole bunch of fixes for memory leaks, etc)
20120806v1.9.7alpha
New option: "large" to trick an app thinking the device has a real big screen. some need it, like amazon kindle to jump into tabUI. some even react on it, gdrive will slightly adapt its layout - makes only sense if you give it a small dpi though.
The algorithm to extract the actual layout containers from apk files works more precise and can reveal more than before. there will still be a few apps left who do that layout stuff in java - we will add an override button for that, but in the meantime you can edit /system/etc/paranoid/properties.conf .layout=360 for phone-like UI, 600 for phablet, 720 = tablet, 1280 = super huge tablet
Several bugfixes from us and cm
20120805v1.9.6alpha
Breakthrough: We can finally target the actual layout containers inside the apk. If an app brings only phoneUI, you see it right away as you only have one UI option. If it brings ten, you will be able to pick each one of em. We're finally away from this Phone/Phab/Tab nonsense.
Total Hybrid engine revamp, alot less clutter, many bugfixes, apps wont make jumps when you load them up because their actual size is calculated by the engine.
Panel is still growing. It brings new options and new preferences that can even change android system settings.
All recent cm10 patches and fixes
20120801v1.95alpha
Finally hardware accelerated recents in TabUI, as fluid as ever. The ugly gradient is gone aswell
Paranoid got its own dir in /system/etc/paranoid - pad.prop is not properties.conf
A clean backup properties file is shipped, you can make a full reset in the panel in case you lost it with all the settings you made
Force option can be activated in the panel, good for widget scaling
The DPI sliders in the panel read min/max props from properties.conf, define them as you like
TabUI Recents are back to a bigger size, this is temporary, i'll look for ways to port the phone implementation as project butter skipped the tabUI code
CM fixed alot of features again, we included them all
20120730v1.9.2-4alpha
Keeping up with CM10
Bugfixes
More descriptions and images in the panel
20120725v1.9.1alpha
Hybrid bugfix, finally keyboard/facebook scaling works on JB again without sideeffects
Layout fix for notificationcenter gap in tabUI
Layout fix for recents in phabUI
Speed prefs ask for reboot
New bootani thx to nasaorc
CM10 patches
20120722v1.9alpha
Newest CM10 patches (powertoggles for phoneUI, lockscreen options, etc,)
Definable number of notifications for navbar shaping
Hide clock wont cut it out of the notification center aswell
Lockscreen tutorial overlap *should* be fixed
Notificationcenter in TabUI has a draghandle like phablet and phone have
New gapps
20120719v1.8alpha
Bluetooth was not working in 1.6, now it does
Selection in landscape was botched, now it isn't
Hide statusbar/navbar is back
A whole bunch of CM features and powermenu options
Corrected the way JB displays sw720 TabUI apps (it wasted almost 40% of the screen with margins)
Dreadful CM-default ringtones are out
Some other stuff i cant remember right now
20120717v1.7alpha
SysUI bugfixes, all three modes work by simply dropping it into a mode, no more navbar height issues
Recents/menu merge
ParanoidPreferences panel, barebones stripped down version, no bug reports please, we know its not stable yet
new bootanimation, thx nasaorc
20120712v1.6prealpha
JELLYBEAN
New hybrid codebase, won't touch build.prop and changign build.prop wont ever be necessary
Can drop apps and system into three modes: Tablet, Phablet and PhoneUI
It is VERY raw and basically a preview. Much code has to be merged, the framework will have to be adjusted as JB introduces crazy overlappings again, just like ICS did
There will be no panel to control it, you can take an editor and edit /system/pad.prop yourself in the meantime.
Expect updates soon
20120625v1.5beta
Hybrid speedup, less lag, considerably faster list scrolling when pad/pal is in action
Keyboard scaling, an androids first
PAD/PAL bugfixes for apps that still crop images in lower dpis
Settings revamp, speed preferences to switch between modes without having to set up anything, less clutter
Trebuchet extras: 3x4 widgets, speed dial menu button, ... and some weird rocket button which im sure will be very useful to most of you
Pad.prop revamp, new preferences that should pretty much nail it. Im sorry but this trashes your old settings again, do not attempt to restore them unless you do it in a text editor
A warning: if you need to scale keyboards, do close their hosts first (that is, if you have the keyboard running in chrome, close chrome, then attempt to change the size). Otherwise you run into caching problems. Also not that some keyboards use fixed layouts and others dont. Should one of your keyboards not scale, just leave it at PhoneUI/DPI and be happy about those that do scale.
20120618v1.4beta
New Hybrid code, keyboard troubles should be gone, apps that crop images or display weird, that should be gone aswell
PAD/PAL work in phonemode 100%, no weird toggles and stuff like that. you get full tablet apps without caveats
Settings cleanup, most of the garbage dpi options are gone, should be more intuitive - i ask you to not bring your old pad.props though some things changed. if you know what you do take a look and edit by hand
Trashed our LatinIME repo - not needed anymore
20120615v1.3beta
Navigationbuttons in phone mode are fixed
Franco kernel smashed games, storage, bootmanager - i switched to cm's default kernel
Settings panel had a bug, you couldnt set android.dpi, decriptions sucked, too
Speed improvements, all launchers are buttersmooth now
Force option for widget scaling works again
20120614v1.2beta
Compiled from a unified GIT that is shared by a growing number of devices
Has all the latest CM9 additions
Completely revamped hybrid code-base, should be better overall
New PAD/PAL code allows system-scaling finally, that means you can scale the lockscreen, dialogs, toasts, etc.
Trebuchet comes with new menu options: 4x4 grid grid folders, options for backgrounds, tablet effects
New cool backup app for pad.prop, *maybe* even an OTA app, either 1.2 or 1.3
New panel options and descriptions
Hide status-bar clock doesnt hide HOLO clock in notification center
Number of notification icons definable in settings
Tons of fixes and improvements
20120530v1.1beta
.Force option that allows apps to push their custom DPI through hosts, this effectively allows to scale widgets again, only this time without breaking anything
Menu button has been merged with recents button. Three dots will appear if an old gingerbread app needs it, longpress it to access the menu. This will allow more notification symbols in future releases
New option to scale navigationbar without reboot
Trebuchet has been forked again, this will be the smoothest launcher you have ever tried. its projected into phoneUI but it brings all the cool tablet features like tab controls in the corners and those cool blue outlines when you scroll homescreens. Try the effects, rotate_down is awesome!
Fixed ICS standard keyboard, no cutoff anymore
All you toggle lovers, todays your day. customize them in settings/system/notification drawer
Dynamic prop values that work in phone and tablet UI
More descriptive captions and settings
CM is turning into such a beast, you'll find tons of new goodies, especially in phoneUI
20120521v0.9beta: P.A.L., PROBABLY THE MOST AWESOME FEATURE EVER
First time in Android history that Per-App-Layout has been realized
Comes with a better panel
Allows you to switch between Phone mode (with curtain and bear paw buttons) and tablet UI seamlessly. PAD & PAL work in both domains. That means you can have 3d Youtube in 320 dpi standard Phone mode or mobile Chrome without those horrible tabs in 192 Dpi Tablet mode.
Since PAL solved all scaling issues our Trebuchet fork is now obsolete. It comes with Nova 1.1.4 projected into mobile layout.
20120517v0.6beta: Bugfixes, new PAD panel, Fullscreen-toggle
Fresh cm9 repo
Franco Milestone 3
Bugfixes for PAD preventing it from screwing up some apps (notification icons were bigger for some apps, launchers would display icons bigger or smaller, etc.)
New PAD panel, lists DPI's, can delete values again
Powermenu Fullscreen-toggle, this finally allows you to play games without navigationbar!
20120512v0.5beta: Control per-app-density via Settings Panel!
Fresh cm9 repo, build IMM76I + non broken theming engine
Franco Milestone 3
Several fixes for p-a-d
Settings Panel, its the one with a droids eye. Still in the making but a start - /system/pad.prop is still there if you need it
20120505v0.4preview-add-on: Apps were too small? Problem solved!
Define the scale of your apps, system-apps, framework-components and even widgets in /system/pad.prop
31 character limitation gone
No Reboot required, restart your app and it should pick up fresh values
Also contains a hacked version of Google Talk, messages use up the full screen now, you don't get these awful stretched message windows anymore
20120504v0.4preview: Apps were too small? Problem solved!
First ever Android ROM with Per-App-Density feature, it once and for all solves the problem that was tablet mode. You never, ever have to deal with apps that are too small again since now you can decide how apps, systemapps, framework-elements and even widgets are scaled by defining their native dpi seperately from the system DPI. Its an experimental feature and for now these values are defined in your /system/build.prop - it has drawbacks (maily notifications can look a bit strange), but that will be fixed in time. Warning: Keyboards MUST run in system DPI!
A list of apps and predefined values is included, this should include most of what you need. everything else is blown up to 210 dpi per standard. if you still need apps to be bigger, get a build.prop editor from the market, edit and reboot.
Trebuchet fixes: Folder Name cut-off, landscape name cut-off, divider bars
Please set your Font to "Normal" in the System Settings, you won't need "Huge" anymore and all this does now is provoke overlapping.
20120430v0.3alpha:
Freshest CM9 Repo
Forked Trebuchet and rewrote its layout and parts of its code to adapt it to tablet mode. I went for stock look plus tablet controls and changed the number of icons/widgets shown in the drawer. It's butter-smooth aswell. It has kinks left, those will be solved in the coming days!
100% fixed android standard keyboard
Better Bootanimation
Fixed Gapps package based on 20120429 including Gmail and a working Market

Fixed Gapps package based on 20120422 including Gmail and a working Market
20120427v0.2pre-alpha:
PARANOIDANDROID custom bootanimation, still has some kinks - first sketch though
crystall clear thumbnails in the recents window, pixel mush no more!
brightness setting easier accessable
ICS toggle button fixes
20120425v0.1pre-alpha:
freshest CM9/nightly repo build (25/04)
recents window way nicer than before. close to stock. i only need to get rid of that darn gradient
keyboard looks like stock now
new bootanimation
camera works
comes with cm9 repo kernel, no color tint
notification clock is smaller, won't overlap so easy
20120425v0.0pre-alpha:
freshest CM9/nightly repo build set to tablet mode
Hacked Nova. I know 1.1 is out, but this one is still closer to stock
Androids keyboard reacts hellish in tablet mode. I fixed it but its still too large, tomorrow i'll fix it proper
I was trying make to recents window look more like stock. COULD be the thumbnails are a tad bigger than before but i'll get to that don't worry
2 notifications icons max in portrait for now to prevent overlapping
Settings comes as the first item in the notification panel, hated to scroll down every time
ALOT will follow, please be patient, i made all that stuff blind because it needed ~13 hours to compile. now compiling is alot faster and i'll see to it that we will have true hybrid mode very soon
First-ish

Sweet. Still running ur build from the kang thread n it rocks. Got themes to work now too. I think it may have been the particular themes I was trying to use. Good to see you're working on this, pa looks dope.

really? yeahhh
It looks promising! Can't hardly wait for a full Rom to test it out...keep up the great work!
Great Job! Haven't run the ROM yet, but I plan to. My suggestion to fix carrier name is open up system/framework/framework-res.apk of both paranoid and cm9 with your archiver and navigate to res/xml in both. Then drag and drop eri.xml from cm9 to paranoid and then save that and keep going back out to system until it asks you if you want to save. Say yes and that should fix the issue.
Thanks for bringing this to our epics!!!

Anyone else with this issue? I might need to switch up to Dropbox or something else for distribution. I'll have a couple of sources and MD5 checksum for the next release.

Hi everyone,
I came up with an idea, that I couldn't find elsewhere. When People like to eat new ideas with their eyes, then I decided to use Photoshop to explain this idea better. Maybe this concept can be embedded into ToucWiz framework or maybe in the future CM/AOKP/PA can figure out how to do real multitasking like in Samsung TouchWiz framework and also with this taskbar addition.
Notice I have added minimize button to every multiwindow app and Icons Active and Inactive states on taskbar (Active glows, inactive in more transparent)
It should work like this:
When you open an app from MultiWindow menu (from the arrow in the middle of taskbar), then its icon will appear onto the taskbar. When you leave the app, the icon glow will become more transparent (it means this app is not active). When you open another app from multiwindow menu then it also appears onto the taskbar. And etc. etc.. I you want to minimize app temporarily then you can use minimize button. If you close the app from "X", then it will dissapear from the taskbar.
Hope you understand better with these pictures.
And remember:
I am not a programmer/developer, I am a graphics designer, and this is not (yet) a working hack,
so if any developer knows how to make this idea real, then I can help with the graphics part if needed.
Though there is nothing complicated in this design.
Polaris is Active
View attachment 2207989
ES File Explorer is Active
View attachment 2207990
Edit: Oops, forgot to add the minimize button for ES.
Viber is Active
View attachment 2207991
All previous apps minimized
View attachment 2207992
Also a button for 4 apps side by side alignment would be nice (I hope no imaginary picture is needed for this), current 2 apps side by side is not enough, our tablet can do more, maybe devs can add it also :fingers-crossed:
Let me know what you think about this idea. And also let others know about this. I hope some day this idea will be possible and we can use our tablet similarly to PC-s.
Wow amazing idea.
Update!
I saw a similar feature on the Note 2013 line.
There is an actual minimize button that minimizes an app into "PA Halo" type circle, and can be opened up and placed wherever you want.
(as usual, not many apps are supported)
http://youtu.be/opwrJ2K8VaA?t=1m40s
Too bad Samsung is in a huge delay with an update to Android 4.3 with all those features for our Note 10.1. And if Samsung updates our device, then I somehow feel that our "update" is going to miss some of the new features.
That is because of exclusive new content on Note 2013 line, "The new features update" for our device could have a bad affect for their Note 2013 sales also. This is marketing..
I still hope some developer will get an inspiration to develop this kind on feature Please share this idea to everyone who is interested in innovation.
Maybe mods can move this thread elsewhere, where it is more seen.
The best development result would be a Touchwiz multitasking in AOSP Roms.
Maybe a bit more development to "PA Halo" would make a greater multitasking experience available to every AOSP rom. Then we won't need those delayed Samsung updates any more !

cant see anything in dual-panel??? back button acts as home button closing everything out and taking you to the home screen??
Hi,
OKAY, downloaded and installed.
FYI : DO NOT INSTALL THE "toggleable Play Store" that you can find on the Slim website : it will not work. Get the "AROMA Apps installer" instead, it works like a charm.
I'm a great fan of this ROM on my Nexus 4 and Droyd was kind enough to answer our request to port it to Grouper.
I find the "Slim Based ROMs" the best : good battery life, lots of functions and customizations, more than decent speed (even if not the fastest) and, above all, reliable.
So this one is another winner and I will adopt this one... and probably make a donation to it's builder
I'll let you know further if I find something.
Regards.

Its not dual pane the back will send you home .. If you select something and want to go back to the main settings just swipe from the edge on the left towards the center.. Its like a swipe style settings or ribbon style.
Edit
Also give the included klp theme a try.

Navigation Bar problem
I really dig this ROM, thank you for porting it to grouper. I do have one problem I need some help with. If I change the system UI layout from tablet to phablet, the navigation bar disappears in while the tablet is in landscape. Thats the only problem I have, If anyone can help me resolve this I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Hi Myst,
If I not mistaken there is a setting somewhere that allows you to show the NavBar even in landscape mode.
Try this : Go to "Settings=>Navigation=>NavigationBar".
The last setting at the bottom is called : "Show Landscape".
Tick it and see if that works. You may have to reboot...
Regards.

I tried the method you posted, and had no luck finding that setting : (. I'd come across that before when using a beanstalk build, the setting never showed up. Thank you for trying, gonna tinker with it a little more.

For some reason that option is only showing on phones.. I have it on my n4 and ville but not on the n7..

Hi,
Indeed : checked it on my grouper, and the option vanishes...
But the most weird thing is that the navigation bar is there. It's just the buttons not showing
Try to assign the NavBar a flashy color (i.e. red or green) and then rotate your device : you'll see the NavBar is there, only with no buttons showing
Weird !
NexusPenguin
Yes the nav bar is there and even the Google Now ring target will show, just not the buttons. I'm still enjoying the rom though, I can always change to expanded desktop and use the pie if I'm unable to exit an app.
Hy Myst,
Indeed, the Ring target are functional.
So what you might wanna do is to assign Holo Launcher to one of the rings, which will bring you back to the home page...
I think you can also assign a "Back" function and a "Recent Apps" function.
So that would be an hybrid between pie and navbar
Regards.

NavPie®? $droyd$ might have accidentally stumbled onto something...
I was so eager that I installed this whilst at work. Probably not the smartest move considering I had no way to recover if the install went south on me. I actually tethered to my One S (also running Odyssey) and downloaded the zips, jumped into recovery, wiped 4 times and installed with no issues. I'm running into a couple of FC here and there. Especially when trying to run a video from Facebook. That's the one I can replicate rather easily.
Did you want a logcat of that or should I try and run a fresh and proper install first to see if that clears up the issue? Not sure if pulling the zips directly from teh internets to my N7 was the smartest move. I've always downloaded to my PC then transferred over.
And that stock wallpaper! Damn that's a good looking piece of artwork. Also the boot animation looks kick ass on the N7 as opposed to the One S. Almost 3D like.

BTW : what's FaceBook ? Ah yeah... I think I have an account somewhere to be able to save my Dragon Vale (great game !) "village" incase I do something wrong at flashing my ROM
I agree about the wallpaper and I already asked Droyd if it would be feasible to get it in the N4 version of his ROM (the best for my needs)...
If not, I'll dig into the system files to retrieve it and use it for my N4... unless it's copyrright protected of course !!!!

I am creating this R&D thread for a project I've been working on for most of this year.
The project named "oZoP" is an All-in-One mods/themes/tweaks for the phone.
The plan for the project is to make it a universally compatible for ALL stock based rom (AOSP is not and never will be supported or compatible)
I will probably release oZoP ConTroL as a stand alone zip mod that will do most of the work and include most or the options.
Eventually I will release the full Aroma oZoP (One Zip One Place) that will include a full rom with all bloat files (all optional of course), along with various other tools needed to build you phones setup the way you like it.
The reason for this thread is to receive valuable and needed user feedback, recommendations and requests.
The feedback will be used to build "OUR" project into a bug free, totally stable experience that will have something for everyone!!
We will get into more detail about what info is needed and how we can get it all put together.
I will add more details as I update this thread. There are A LOT of mods and a lot of info so this will take time.
If you are really that interested and just need to know more, you can always take a glance at some of my other projects,
Most of these projects are simply just sections of oZoP that have been pulled out as a stand alone mod.
Here are a few samples of the mods during the build phase (some features may or may not appear the same or make it to the initial public release)

As you can see from what I have in the previews above There are a lot of options and configurations possibility and that's only about 1/5th of what is actually available at this point today.
With all those options come lots of possible conflicts with the various devices and variants that are planned to be on the list of compatible devices.
That brings me to the reason for this thread... I have the H918 Tmobile and may or may not need several users with other devices to be the support section to check compatibility!
To be clear, I have been building this project since March and have recently finished running clean install testing for the past 10 days to ensure all the defaults are set properly and that there are zero bugs that I can detect with my setup.
Again, just because everything works as it is intended for me with my model phone, carrier variant and app and setting setup, doesn't mean it will be the same for everyone.
This thread will hopefully eliminate any possibilities of this not working for everyone and ensures a wonderful experience
You may or may not have seen the following projects. They are in fact sections of oZoP pulled out as stand alone mods.
They have been sort of "silent" compatibility tests that have passed with flying colors. There has been no reports of things not working.
oZoP Modz - Full-screen Caller ID
oZoP MoDz - System Animations
BOOT/SHUTDOWN ANIMATION CHANGER
The next test is being announce as such and is starting taking place right here right now.
This has been tested privately for the last few days and the confirmed Roms and devices include Weta (all US carriers), NATF and one I can't remember right now

2. Stock based deodex rom
oZoP MoDz Notifications and more

Report bug properly to get my support
Of course there are many way to properly report bugs and ALL of these ways have one thing in common, THEY ALL REQUIRE VERY DETAILED NOTES of the issue!
I'm moy goimg to go deep into how detailed you could get because lets face it, most people that report improperly are the ones who don't read and probably are going to read this! HaHaHa...
To get support from me I only ask for some simple things
1. What device, and rom you are running
2. What is the issue (no boot, fc everywhere, fc only certain app etc...)
3. Which option did you select
4. Did you get the install log
5. Did you use the restore.zip option to get back running
6. Do other choices share the same effect
That looks like a lot, but it really is the minimum amout of info need to troubleshoot!
Provide me that and I'll do my best to fix things and make this fun for everyone.
If you post things like
"Doesn't work", "bootloop" or anyone other similar post that have no value and help development is no way, actually these kinds of post only put development behind amd slow progress die the fact that anyone who cam help has to waste their time reading it!
If these kind of post ever come up, its best to ignore the lazy person and not clog the thread with flaming replies as that too slows development!

Just curious I could have missed it but will the ability to turn off the annoying battery full notification be included in the mods? And any chance the ROM could include WETA like abilities to modify what is on the second screen (ie: 3min clock)?
Thanks for sharing all this by the way. Exciting times for our V20!
I noticed today that if I do a bulk execute on the second screen mods work on weta. But if I try to just modify them under ui mods individual it causes the system ui to crash. I'm on Verizon weta 5.1 #2

Just curious I could have missed it but will the ability to turn off the annoying battery full notification be included in the mods? And any chance the ROM could include WETA like abilities to modify what is on the second screen (ie: 3min clock)?
Thanks for sharing all this by the way. Exciting times for our V20!

For the clock I have mod native built with control of many thing which do include layout position. I also have native build battery controls including the option to switch between stock modded or 3 minit batteries.
I have stock battery position left/right, but so far it doesn't work right for second screen so the battery will be in the stock position on the right for now.
The reason for this thread is for suggestion, recommendations.
That being said, i currently do not have a switch for the full battery notification.... Currently... I will be adding that and you can expect to see it in the official release!
Thank you

I noticed today that if I do a bulk execute on the second screen mods work on weta. But if I try to just modify them under ui mods individual it causes the system ui to crash. I'm on Verizon weta 5.1 #2

For the 3 replies about having compatibility issues, I want to say this does not come to a surprise and I can assure you that this will not be the case with the official release.
I suspect the reason for this fc issue is because WETA is a very customized rom and some of the mods are probably pushing files the the sysui which I modded and the old files are conflicting because they do not include the referances to the edits I made for the animated home button etc.
This will not be an issue when all the oZoP files are in place.
So i also want to clear this up...
Once the official oZoP is ready and gets installed on to your rom, it will override ALL current mods of your rom. The mod includes most core system files that devs mod.
Don't worry though, i am pretty sure that ANY mods you currently have will be available with oZoP.
If we find out that there is a mod which I haven't included, just let me know and i will definitely do what i can to add the feature.
Sorry for the inconvenience. I will make things more clear for the future as well as add a restore failsafe to the zips.

Thank you sir and the previews don't give any justice to what is really going on!! This will definitely keep you busy for a while. There are a lot of variations of the mods amf theme options!
Thank you all for the replys and feedback.
Remember, this is the time and place to make requests for things you would like to see built in to a stock based rom!
Cant wait for your rom. It looks sick!

I think it would be cool to have a working color coded battery bar for the second screen especially for the AOD part as it's easier to read than a small white battery icon and even the 3minit battery is still pretty tiny when trying to see it at a glance. Not sure if it is do-able
2nd screen is awesome on this phone just wish there was more ways to customize it. Be nice to force it to max brightness as well as being able to increase the time it displays notifications like text messages and stuff.

Again, thank you and this is what this thread is about, getting things we all want in one mod!
So for battery bar in SS, i already have the options for top/bottom placement, regular (left to right) or centered style, charging animation on/off, size and colorpicker for any color. I do not have it color coded, I assume you mean by percentage of battery remaining?
I can definitely look at adding to my code, but that may come in future updates...
As for the other battery options, stock battery is only white if you choose to leave it that way. The battery icon has color optiins for background, foreground and in-battery precentage colors. The icon has several styles including hide, circle and dotted cirlces. 3minit is 3minit, no need to go into that one.
As you can see, there are currently options that could hopefully satisfy your battery needs.
I totally aggree about needing more controls for SS options like brightness and screen notification timeouts.
@Zacharee1 and I have been looking deeper to add options for pulse and text color controls, but again this one may have to be for future updates as well...
Thank you for your interest and participation here.
Thanks for taking time to clear up as to why we're having issues. Your mods are awesome. And I commend you for putting the time in to do this for this phone. ?? ?? Im sure everyone in this forum with this phone is extremely grateful to you for doing this, as we don't have many choices for roms and such for a phone that is a year old. It amazes me, my old old HTC desire and galaxy s4 are still getting roms released yet this phone is all but abandoned. Lol anyway thank you immensely and I look forward to the finished product. (I will also beta test any releases you push if needed)

@KUSOsan just finished up the Full battery switch and love your suggestions so keep em coming. There can't be that many left.. Haha that mod make puts the total keys used for included mods at 407! Thats 407 different settings some pf which include 50+ choices!

I need to write them down because I can never think of stuff on the spot but it's always whenever the problem arises.
Most of my suggestions pretty much center around the 2nd screen as there is just a disappointing lack of customization for it considering that is the biggest defining feature about the V20.
I was hoping LG would add more stuff to it after they talked big about focusing on the 'V' series as their main contender with the G series taking a backseat compared to it but with the V30 coming out sans a 2nd screen I have a bad feeling that if anything they are going to abandon any 2nd screen updates completely or just streamline it (i.e. neuter it with less features but make it look prettier) for the Oreo update if this phone ever gets it.
I also have a bad feeling that Oreo is going to be a long ways out for this phone so your timing with the mods and ROM are perfect ?
I'm extremely interested in this ozop rom. Thanks for puting all you time and effort into this. Will this work for the sprint ls997 model? If so which rom will we need to be running?

This is Rain, an LG Home+ theme for your LG G7 running Android 9. This theme is a premium quality theme like no other Home theme+. What you see is what you get and that is quality and attention to details! Rain is a dark theme with some bright gradient accents throughout. The Dark Notifications compliment the ui and battery life! The app icons have a slight gradient to them, with some more noticeable than others. This theme does not support adaptive icons as some of the key features of this theme are blocked by enabling the adaptive icons. If you'd prefer adaptive you will need to use a third party launcher like Hyperion or Nova.
No need to run a third party theme system any more, just use the system theme chooser and you can enjoy all the benefits of an advanced theme system.
To apply the theme simply go into settings/display and select themes. From there select Rain, and push apply! then reboot and then reapply the theme again. It's a bit more in depth than other themes but given the complexity of this premium theme it is required for all elements to be themed properly.
That's it! Simple, easy and quick.
This theme is also meant to run at the highest resolution, with the lowest stock setting for the actual display size. Larger sizes may cause some elements to look slightly off. If this happens please lower the display sizes of the iconography.
Also for the power menu to be themed you have to reboot and reapply the theme. Sometimes you may have to reapply it more than once. This is something with LG's software and not within my control.
If you run into any issues please send me an email directly instead of leaving a poor rating. Often I am very quick to reply and great to solve any issues. The review system is not meant to be a support channel!
Thank you so much for your support and I hope you enjoy this theme. I've worked extremely hard on this and by far it was the most challenging and time consuming project I've ever made!
Now for the stuff people actually care about.... Screenshots!!!
Pixel Experience
This is the Pixel Experience. For those who want to enjoy a lighter theme with minimal, subtle changes that want to be able to set it and forget it without having to worry about constant Google app updates and be able to enjoy the Pixel look. This is for you and you're gonna love it! Like Alpha this theme will be updated regularly and will continue to grow as time goes by. Enjoy the clean and refreshing look and experience the Pixel!!! #WhiteUiMustLive
Now you probably didn't bother to read that crap above so let's just post some screenshots shall we?
Pixel Experience (Legacy Theme)
So since not everyone digs using substratum I decided that Pixel Experience should be a regular (Or as I call them "Legacy" LG Theme). No computers, no additional apps in order to use it... You can just set it and forget it! You will get all the features from the Substratum version and then some.
Here's a pic of how this theme looks!
Pixel Experience Dark
Welcome to the dark side. This is Pixel Experience Dark! Including dark notifications! I'm really proud of this and how it turned out! Please take the time to read the app description as there is some important information in there for your benefit which will help you get the best experience out of this theme! Also in the description are optional patches which are theme specific!
So go get it and please drop me a quick rating and if you'd also be so kind to give this a quick share too that would be great!
Screenshots!!!
Since this theme pushes the boundaries of the LG Theme system it retains adaptive and dynamic icons on stock launcher. Due to this you will have to select your navbar color in settings, display, home touch buttons. By default it may show you have selected the dark option, but the navbar may still be white. Simply select the white and then select the dar one again and you should be set. It's a bit odd but that's just how it has to work. Unfortunately there is one app that does not show the navbar as being dark which is the LG Music app. it demands to stay white due to this. I realize some people may not like this so I've also made another patch for users who want it to match. This however will kill the adaptive and dynamic icons so decide which option you prefer because unfortunately due to system limitations you simply cannot have both. Like the previous patch just install it, reapply the theme and reboot. If you use a third party launcher this patch should most definitely be used. link to patch:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tDOIM4dKssw3oOMm6clEBROlGEoOgGt3/view?usp=sharing
I've also included a patch for Light notifications because some people mention that they're having difficulties with some apps like whatsapp or telegram where the user name is black on a dark background or that they have a light shadow around said text to make it somewhat readable. If you wish you can install the patch and the entire theme will remain as is but the notifications will be light and you won't have any issues at all.
How to install the patch: First update the theme to the latest version. Then download the following apks (link below). Next change to stock theme. Then install the apk patches. Then after you've installed them apply Pixel Experience Dark. Next reboot and you'll be all set. If you experience some force closes that is because you didn't revert to stock theme and installed the patches while using Pixel Experience Dark

Twilight
See bottom of description for Quick Settings Add-on Patches!!!
This is Twilight an LG Home+ theme for your LG V40 or LG G7 running Oreo only (Pie is not yet available on my devices and therefore not yet supported!!!) This theme is a premium quality theme like no other Home theme+. What you see is what you get and that is quality and attention to details! Twilight is a dark theme with bright gradient accents throughout.
***Third party Quick Settings Icons:
Some apps allow the user to add a shortcut activity to the quick settings panel. This is not supported by this theme whatsoever. If you decided to add any icons to your quick settings panel they will not show up. They will be 100% transparent. They cannot be added. If this bothers you then in a future update I will make an add-on quick settings patch that will add usability back for them, however it will sacrifice the creativity of the current structure of both styles of available quick settings icons. It will be more minimal and all the icons will be the same color like how most themes are. Due to the complexity and advanced nature of this theme this is something that I am aware of and have embraced 100%.
To apply the theme simply go into settings/display and select themes. From there select Twilight, and push apply!
That's it! Simple, easy and quick.
Please note that refunds will not be given for installations on non LG V40 or G7 Oreo Devices. As the title of the theme clearly indicates which device this is for and this app description does specify which OS version is supported..
This theme is also meant to run at the highest resolution, with the lowest stock setting for the actual display size. Larger sizes may cause some elements to look slightly off. If this happens please lower the display sizes of the iconography.
If you run into any issues please send me an email directly instead of leaving a poor rating. Often I am very quick to reply (unless I'm sleeping and you're in a different time zone) and great to solve any issues. The review system is not meant to be a support channel!
Quick tip... Search and install the app "Quick Shortcut Maker" on google play. Install, then long press on your home screen and select the 1x1 quick shortcut maker widget and drag it on your home screen. Then in the activities tab, scroll down to"wallpaper & themes" and expand it. touch 1st option at the top of the list that doesn't have and upwards arrow. Hit Create" button at the bottom and now you have a themes app shortcut you can place on your desktop!!!
Thank you for your support and enjoy theme!!!
This theme as you can see from the screen previews shows two different styles of Quick Settings icons. This is because I designed both styles and had a tough time deciding on which ones to go with so I decided to make them both. The minimal icons are default. However if you wish to change them simply download the corresponding patch to the style that you want. After you've downloaded the patch, apply the default LG theme. Then install the patch, reboot and reapply the theme then reboot again. You will now see a different style. If you wish to change back the original style you can repeat the above process using the other patch. I've uploaded and clearly labeled both patches. They can be found here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=288986
For dark notifications it takes 5 add-ons patches.
G Theme 3
Click me for Video Promo
t's back!!! This is G Theme 3. Why G Theme you ask? Well I think you can figure that out when you use it what it's all about. This theme is a premium quality theme like no other Home theme+. What you see is what you get and that is quality and attention to details! G Theme 3 is a dark theme with beautiful colors and designs throughout it. The Dark Notifications compliment the ui and battery life! This theme supports adaptive icons and I recommended choosing circle which is unlocked as a feature and can be accessed from going into the settings application and then going into display, home and choose the icon shape. Due to this the music app does have a light overlay at the bottom which is a bug that LG should address!!! For real LG fix that will ya.
Now this is the important part. This theme is only for LG devices running UX 7, Android 9.0 pie. If you are running a different LG UX or android version this will not work and if you upgrade from the above this theme may not work properly. It is presented on an "as is basis". I do my best to try and update to allow for the theme to function on all devices as best I can and as soon as I can. However due to LG's interesting update cycle sometimes one device may update prior to others.
To apply the theme simply go into settings/display and select themes. From there select G Theme 3, and push apply! then reboot and then reapply the theme again. It's a bit more in depth than other themes but given the complexity of this premium theme it is required for all elements to be themed properly.
That's it! Simple, easy and quick.
The theme comes with a coral wallpaper but if you'd like to have it animated simply grab this add on and set it as a live wallpaper and you'll be all set. Since most Lg Devices don't support seamless wallpapers just download this and install it and set as your live wall and enjoy!
Live Wallpaper right Here!!!
Please note that refunds will not be given for installations on non LG G7, V35 UX 7 (running Pie) Devices. As the title of the theme clearly indicates which device this is for and this app description does specify which OS version is supported..

Instructional video on how to apply Alpha, see below
You will need ADB installed on your pc: Right here
You will also need the substratum app as well as the Andromeda app and the Desktop client for Andromeda
This thread is for support and feedback for my LG Substratum themes and legacy LG themes. with the update to 8.0 Oreo substratum is now supported without rooting your device. Due to the capabilities with Substratum all previous LG themes will be referred to as "Legacy themes" and the primary focus has shifted to Substratum. Since substratum can provide everything that an LG theme can provide and more it makes the most sense to evolve and transcend into the more advanced theming system.
So this is my first theme "Alpha". It has a double meaning and I feel is appropriate for this theme. Let's stop with the chit chat and post a few screenshots and if you're looking for a way to pass the time then keep reading! I promise you the literature doesn't get any better, but have at it!
Oh hey everyone! Again, I didn't see ya there. You just snuck right up on me now didn't ya bud. Well it's that time again. Another new beautiful LG device is upon us and I had to get it. So it must mean it's time for another fun theme discussion and feedback thread. Now I must get this next bit out of the way to make it clear what the purpose of this thread is. 1: I am not here to sell my work whatsoever and that is not the purpose of this thread. Posts regarding updates, screenshots or other communication are strictly for the purposes of obtaining feedback on what I do. and to see if users are pleased with said changes. 2: I will never post a direct link to anything I make that is paid as that is not allowed and I expect that as users you will not post links either.
My V20, G6 and V30 threads are absolutely fantastic and I encourage you all to check it out at some point if you wish to see how I interact with people. I cannot thank you all enough who have supported me and given me feedback and interacted with me in any way to discuss things theme related. Don't be shy about commenting or giving suggestions or feedback provided it is constructive and is done in a mature and professional manner. Feel free to joke around a bit and have some fun. That's what it's all about anyway. It's a very positive and fairly active thread. Users often give me feedback which is incredibly valuable and also post pics of any bug fixes. That allows me to quickly address issues.
First things first to any mods who may be peeping it is important to note that I am complying with xda rules and there are zero paid direct links posted anywhere in this thread by me. So there are no rules being violated. Rule 11 states that I can use xda to get user feedback on paid applications and that is what this thread is for so I am well within rule 11 which can be found here:
11. Don?t post with the intention of selling something.
Don?t use XDA to advertise your product or service. Proprietors of for-pay products or services, may use XDA to get feedback, provide beta access, or a free version of their product for XDA users and to offer support, but not to post with the intention of selling. This includes promoting sites similar / substantially similar to XDA-Developers.com.
Do not post press releases, announcements, links to trial software or commercial services, unless you?re posting an exclusive release for XDA-Developers.com.
Encouraging members to participate in forum activities on other phone related sites is prohibited.
Off-site downloads are permitted if the site is non-commercial and does not require registration.
Off-site downloads from sites requiring registration are NOT encouraged but may be permitted if both of the following conditions are met:
A) The site belongs to a member of XDA-Developers with at least 1500 posts and 2 years membership, who actively maintains an XDA-Developers support thread(s) / posts, related to the download.
B) The site is a relatively small, personal website without commercial advertising / links (i.e. not a competitor forum-based site with purposes and aims similar to those of XDA-Developers.com.)
Be sure to follow me on google plus to stay up to date and get additional theme information regarding updates and other testing and feedback.
So this thread is for all those who are using any of my themes where we can come discuss things, give feedback and post screens etc of what I've been working on. I will continue to add new themes and post screens of my work here and interact with all of you. Remember, I ask that you be civil to myself and other members and keep any feedback constructive.

Looks like you need to sort out a few things still. That doesn't quite look right. Check the lg system resources option and settings overlays. Your icons are a bit off in settings. They should be centered
I have a feeling that when you get lg system resources that your 3 dot menu and search icon might have readability issues if you select the same accent color as the theme color. I'll check this too. If so I'll add it to a list and correct it. Normally the first version when adding a new device we find a few surprises so I'll probably wait a day or so and explore as well as get feedback from people here and then see what I can do.

I will add then when I followed this instruction (in the play store description)
.....Then once all the overlay's are build go back and select them again and select "enable". I found 9 times out of 10 this is the best way to apply them and I experienced fewer issues. Do this from the "Themes" tab. The "Manager" tab really wasn't needed and caused me the most headaches......

Nevertheless, awesome theme!!
Glad to see some mods coming along for the G7! I do have a question though: is it possible to change the statusbar icons to AOSP icons with your mod? I absolutely despise the fugly icons that Samsung/LG/every single OEM except for Google use on their devices. I also would love the option to be able to see p.m/a.m after the time on the statusbar too.
Sorry if the question sounds silly, I'm just not sure what you can do without root/unlocked bootloader on Android phones. Thank you!
Either way, thank you for your contributions

Sold! I've been able to get the nav bar and the status icon to stock Pixel and am loving it! Just need to figure out how to reverse the settings since it seems a bit buggy. Don't really need a "dark" theme but I'm sure some people do.
