[Q] My galaxy s3 froze after trying to turn on wifi - General Questions and Answers

Today, about 20 min ago my galaxy s3 froze for the first time I had it ( about 3 month). So I press the power button to check the screen and saw that wifi wasn't on. I check the notification it was turned off when It was on just a while ago. When i went to click it to turn it on. My phone completely froze, everything was on the screen was stuck on the notification page and no matter what i press it was just stuck there. I had to hold down the power button for 20 sec to do a soft reset. Its now back to normal but I was wondering if this was because of some kind of wifi crash?
Today's installed app:
Adobe air ( no clue what it does yet)
file manager ( well installed last night before bed)
Nothing else was installed.
Oh and I was also wondering my ram is always at 1.2 gb+ out of 1.59gb. Is this a start of some kind of software or hardware problem? or is it normal for a phone to sometime freeze like that. My first smartphone, my dumb phone has never froze before so kind of worry.
Sorry I'm a noob with android but I love it! Just want to make sure and take early precaution before anything really serious happen. Thanks!

unlimited vibration

Hi guys,
When I get a message the phone vibrates 3 times, like normal. But sometimes randomly it vibrates 1 time and then unlimited vibration. Until I get it out of my pocket and press the powerbutton so the screen goes on again. When the screen is on again the phone resumes the 2 vibrates. Very strange. I had it on multiple roms with different radio's. I don't use TF3D but HTC Home Plugin VGA edition.
I've experienced the same issue you speak of with the stock ROM, and I haven't found a solution or cause yet either.
I think it was this what caused my phone to sometimes go out. Because the vibration consumed all the power.
Do you use Touch Flo?

That would be the angry bee. It is something that just happens. I've had it so bad that I have had to soft reset the phone. It only happens to me every great once in a while. However, I haven't run the stock rom since about 2 hours after buying the phone.
has happened to me twice now.
ive had the phone about 2 months.

I've had it happen to me a few times and had to soft reset it to make it stop. It doesn't happen too often, so I haven't been too worried about it.
I've had it happen when I launch an application just as it is starting to vibrate to signal a notification.
Do you guys also always have it as the second vibration? When it hangs it always is the second vibration at me. And when I press the screen again he makes 2 after it again.
I had a similar issue with the initial stock rom - my wife messaged me in the middle of a meeting and my phone would not STOP VIBRATING. Since it was on the desk, it buzzbuzzbuzzed really loud.
Now I'm on the Energy 3.0 rom and have not had an issue. Even with the updated leaked stock rom I didn't have the issue.
I discover that it only vibrates wrongly when I have the screen off. Pretty annoying though.
Don't we use some kind of stuff in common?
I use:
HTC Home VGA Edition for front end instead of manilla
HomeScreen++ for the handy shortcuts
I checked some things again, I am not 100% sure but I think it was HomeScreen++ that caused the problems here. The exact settings: at the Tools tab "Lock if Display is Off and vice versa, which didn't work anyway at the touch pro (did work on htc's I had before though), but I checked it off and now it still rings 3 times and no less or more. Hope this was it.
I do not use HomeScreen++ and it happens to me at least once a day, sometimes twice. Mine always seems to happen on the third vibrate, it will do the first two and then the third one just stays on. I press the power button for the screen to come back on and it stops.
I have it too sometimes.
EnergyRom 3.0
And you guys have something that auto lock the screen when you press the power off button? Or do you lock the screen before pressing the power button? Because here it seems to have something to do with the locking in combination of the standby mode (screen off)

[Q] motorola xoom too long to turn on

Please help me guys... my xoom , i bought it new,its about 2 weeks ago, and i've just installed adobe reader and evernote from playstore, but.... now, after i press the power button in the back, it goes off, and i want to turn it on again, so i press the power button in the back again, but its "too long to turn on", i have to wait about 3 mins, i'm getting frustated with it now, so how can i make it right??
please help me guys... very need your help...
I'm afraid there probably isn't anything wrong with your Xoom.
Newer Android devices have a feature, lets call it "Quick Boot"...which allows a device to be turned on in seconds! But what is actually happening is, the device is never properly off. The RAM is stored, and when the device is turned on again, it resumes...sort of like your computer hibernating.
You can check this out by comparing the boot times of turning a device off and on, and rebooting...where everything is shut down. Rebooting should take about 50 to 100% longer.
The Xoom however is ever so slightly too old to have this Quick Boot feature. When you turn the Xoom off, it is off properly. And when you turn it on, it has to load everything fresh.
Give it a chance though. The Xoom might be getting on a bit now, but it is still a great device. And if the boot time is annoying you so much...simple...don't turn it off!

What the heck happened to my phone?

I have a Verizon Galaxy Note 2 i605 that's unlocked, using Straight Talk service, rooted, and was running stock Android version 4.1.1. On Thanksgiving Day, I was going to have dinner with friends. From my computer I found the location on Google maps, then sent the map to my phone. That's something I'd done many times, but this time when I clicked the link, it flashed the conformation asking if I was sure I wanted to load the map. When I clicked yes, the screen dimmed then immediately brightened and dimmed again. It continued this flashing at about 1/2 second intervals. During this time no buttons or combination of buttons had any affect on it. After about 40 or so seconds of this, I took the back off and removed the battery. I waited about a minute before reinserting the battery and replaced the back. I pushed the power button and fully expected it to boot normally. Boy was I in for some disappointment. It not only didn't boot, it didn't do anything. And hasn't since. No boot, no download mode, no recovery mode, and not recognized by the computer when connected by USB. It is dead. Does anyone know what happened, or more importantly, can it be revived?

S8 plus Dead black screen

Hi,
A month ago, first time screen of my S8 plus (15 months old) went black, i can see the phone is working fine apart from screen, tried force restart, every button combinations available on other forums, nothing worked. After like 10, hours screen went on by itself. It lasted a week and screen went off again. Again same thing, it went back on by it self after few hours. I though it might be the corrupt software, so i flashed the factory rom. But no luck. This cycle kept going on for a month.
Now since last week, screen went dead, not turning back on. I can connect the phone to screen via smart view (Bixby voice helps there surprisingly), and see everything else works fine.
Phone is out of warranty, so i cannt just go to samsung and get a replacement.
Does anyone have any idea, what is going on, and if they have face any similar issue and what to do with it.
Also, one weird thing. I dont know if its related to the issue but I noticed every time after i factory reset or flashed stock rom, some random files start downloading itself via download manager and every time i tap to look for the name or info, it just disappears, tried to find it among apps and file, nothing can be found.

Please help me with my phone.

Hey everyone who reads this.
I'd like to start my topic with apologising if I post this in the wrong section.
So, I have a LG Spirit H440N LTE for about 3 years now, maybe a little less. I've always taken good care of it, both physically and in updates / security wise aswell.
My phone has been working flawlessly until the last 2 days. 2 days ago i was charging my phone, and when it vibrated (meaning its 100%) I pulled the cable off, and pressed the power button (power button locks - unlocks the screen) the screen didn't turn on. I was like "wow that's strange" but didn't care much, i just kept pressing the button every 5-6 seconds, nothing.
At that point I pulled the battery out, let it sit for a short time and then put it back, start the phone, I felt the vibration (meaning it's starting up) but no screen, so my first idea was that I need to get a new firmware and completely reinstall my phone, as it seems like it got bricked.. for no reason, by itself ? Strange thing but I accepted it and literally been googling for 9 hours now and I find more and more issues.
After I got LG FlashTool, drivers, and even 3 different firmwares, I wanted to start the phone in download mode to start upgrading, but even though I held down "volume up for 5 seconds and then put the usb cable in" nothing happened, no screen, my PC didn't recognise the phone either.
So I got a little bit mad and pulled the cable out from the phone, I wanted to remove the battery, but out of nowhere the phone suddenly started loading in, screen working completely fine, i could do whatever i want, so my first thing was to do a hard reset. After the hard reset I set up my usual stuff (important apps etc) and I locked the screen so my battery won't go down. Little did I know, I ****ed up again, because ever since that happened, I can't get my screen to work again. I tried everything I could but my PC still doesn't recognise the phone (even after a LOT of drivers being installed), charging the phone doesn't do anything. Regardless if I remove - put back the battery no screen, no screen in download - hard reset mode either, it's just completely black.
I'd like to have some sort of help, because I am just completely out of ideas, I really feel like a firmware change could fix the phone, but if the computer doesn't recognise it, I have no idea what to do.

You might be having hardware issues, such as a faulty power button. If you are the type of user that frequently presses the power button to lock/unlock the screen, this leads to excessive wear on the button components, this is why some users prefer to use the "tap to sleep" and "tap to wake" feature, to avoid wearing the power button out. On my LG, this feature is called "KnockOn", it's located in Accessibility settings.
