[Q] Phone still won't update to ICS. - Motorola Atrix 2

I've been checking for updates manually through the settings option but it keeps telling me the phone is up to date. Does anybody else have this problem. On Android 2.3.6. The system version I have is 55.13.22.MB865.ATT.en.US. I am currently overseas but anytime an OTA update has been released I've received it before while being out here. Tried searching around a few days on google and on this site but can't find a solution. Any help please??

Mine updated yesterday. Try again.

Reboot your phone, then go to settings, about phone, then check for updates again. If that does not work, try and clear cache and check again. Also make sure you try to check while on wifi as well, because it most likely will not let you download the update while on cell data.

Tried restart, clearing cache and while on wifi -- still no update. Guess I'll just wait it out and hopefully it updates soon.

Try idigitaltimes.com/articles/11784/20121013/motorola-atrix-2-ics-update-download-install.htm
Good Luck.

I am overseas and updated my phone, but I did have an issue with the update servers not being able to see my device. It is sometimes the case where an FDR (factory data reset) is needed for the update servers to be able to see your phone again (generates a new underlying Moto sync account). I had to do an FDR to get the update servers to see my device.
First try the following to force a login to the Moto update servers.
Dial #ELIOT# in the stock dialer and then wait for it to have a pop up. Then power the phone off, back on and then check for updates again.
If that does not work then do an FDR and then check for updates again after your phone has been reset.
Good luck.

Sounds like you've gotten yourself one of the early leaked update builds. I'd recommend FXZ-ing directly to ICS, or fxz to the 55.13.25 build and updating from there.
At one point more than a year ago, there was an update pushed down from the update server to update from 55.13.22 to 55.13.25, but you'd have to find someone that has stashed that away. (I don't think I have it saved anymore)

[Q] I'mgetting "Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip" when I try to update my Nexus S

[Q] I'mgetting "Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip" when I try to update my Nexus S
I've searched countless times on how to fix this, yet every time I find a thread containing someone asking about this they never answer it or they're dealing with a rooted device.
My device is not, and has never been, rooted. Never manually updated anything on the phone before trying now.
I tried to manually update to 2.3.3 after never receiving the OTA. Then I tried the 2.3.4 update and I keep getting the "Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip" message.
Can someone explain, or point me in the direction, of a non-rooted answer. Why am I getting this message to begin with?
Do you own the European version? The SLCD 19023 one?
No, it's the American version.
It's weird because I received the 2.3.2 update. But aftr that...I never got the 2.3.3 pushed to me. And now when I try to manually update to the .3 or .4 update...I keep getting that message.

me too. the same problem with my Nexus S
And me too, Davey. Same problem. Bought the Nexus S in New York on late December and I live in Spain. My phone is unrooted.
Haven't received the OTA for 2.3.3 yet and tried both manually updates for 2.3.3 and 2.3.4, but getting the same message as you.
It's frustrating!
Same problem here with a UK-bought Nexus S. I have tried with the bootloader Locked and Unlocked. Although bought in UK there is no guarantee that it is not an American import. It was bought from Carphone Warehouse who seem to source their kit from any where they can get it.
So as other people are successfully installing it has to be something specific to this physical handset.

So from the few posts here it's seeming like an international device issue...but yet I'm in the States. So I don't get it.
It's just frustrating that I can't get an answer about it. Many a people are speaking on it, but nobody can explain or solve it. Sigh.
Same issue as you - error in /tmp/sideload
I have Nexus S 2.3.3 (manually updated) from US. I am trying to manually bump it to 2.3.4 -- same issue. I have rooted & unlocked the device. No Mods here.
Same error.

Updated!!!
OK guys -- Finally figured out the problem for /tmp/sideload/package.zip.
If there is any change to the bootloader by any app (RomManager or has ClockWorkMod), then you won't be manually be able to upgrade to 2.3.4
Solution for those on GRI40 2.3.3
1. Flash stock 2.3.3 gingerbread again in recovery more. Do a quick search on XDA and grab it. Almost 90 MB file.
2. Once flashed - Boot it, sign in with google account and under setting, privacy - do a factory data reset. Start it clean. I DID NOT checked the SD card data.
3. Flashed 2.3.3 in recovery again.
4. Reboot it. Did not signed in once booted. Turn USB ON. Put the 2.3.4 file (around 12 MB).
5. Flash it again in recovery mode.
6. I signed in to Google account without restoring my backup.
That's it. On 2.3.4 - Unlocked state remains!
Hi there!
Finally managed to install the 2.3.4 version on my Nexus S and works perfect! Already tried the Google Talk video chat and it's fantastic.

You will have to go back to stock before you will even be notified of the update. When I had my droid 1 it took a week after the release before I received the update to 2.2

Anyone updated yet
I have tried on 2 stock roms (rooted) and neither say there is an update available - before going back to stock via the 11 step process, has anyone actually updated their device yet - or am I just not patient enough and the update is actually rolling out slowly and not available manually? Any help is appreciated, since I would hate to blast phones to get the update (i would rather wait on a rooted version, but would love to get a better experience than the current ROM provides!)

I too would rather wait for a rooted version but I'm too excited to use Gingerbread. I will roll back my rom to the original tonight via Moto RSD Lite and then try the update, I will report back if all goes well... or not, hehe.

try *#*#checkin#*# or the other way around, i forgot.
My wife has the D2 Global on vzw. running the orig 2.2 not rooted or bootstrapped.
No update notifications / plus the software update says the phone is up to date.
*#*#2432546#*#*
Checkin works fine, still no update atleast in the Phoenix Metro Cell System.
Just tried checkin as well and no gingerbread love here, either. In Columbus, Ohio. I believe the update is still in it's "soak-test" phase, which means only a select few will actually receive it just yet. My guess is we're sstill a week out from actual release, but don't quote me on it. Only wishful hoping at this point .
Nothing here in NC yet.
Ive tried the *#*#checkin#*#* also no go.
Anyone got it yet? I wish we can find the SBF so we can just flash it ourselves
will being rooted prevent me from getting the update?

If you have a custom ROM on your rooted device then most defiantly. I went back to the original stock using the 11 step process without a problem, but you will most probably have to wipe/factory data to get it to work.
I'm still waiting for the new update though
Root, etc.
Just got a Droid 2 Global from Assurion (brand new) as a replacement for a stolen Droid 2. Pure stock, never been rooted; no update. So those of you with no update don't need to panic over whether you ran Z4ROOT or not; the update is NOT yet here, at least on my phone (California) and it is pure as the driven snow.

I'm pretty sure it would be an update.zip file, not an sbf file, but all the same it would be nice if someone would just copy it to their pc before updating so we could all have it already.

Galaxy Tab constantly prompting for system update

Hey guys,
I was hoping someone here could throw me a bone on a problem I am having with a Galaxy Tab 2 I recently got for my wife. For some reason it keeps telling her there is a software update. She has tried to install it multiple times and it appears to go through successfully but the prompt to update comes back again a few hours later. If we click "Later" it gives a a maximum time of 3 hours before it reminds us to update again. i saw someone else had asked about this in another part of the forum and they were directed here but I never found an answer.
So... The numbers:
Model: GT-P3113
Android Ver. 4.0.4
Kernel version: [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT TUE JUL 17 23:47:56 KST2012
Build Number: IMM76D.P311UEBLG5
I've gone in through the start menu and cleared the cache, next step I am considering is starting from scratch with a wipe to factory fresh. Before i did that though I thought I would check here.
Anyone have any advice?
**EDIT**
Just for clarification, this appears to be a system update. Not an app or anything like that. If I go intot he preferences and check for a software update it immediately prompts for it.
Rooted? If so, I was told to try to browse system/app folder for the Fota.apk. delete that and reboot. I've basically got the same problem and posed the same question HERE.
Its simple root your device you will get no ota notofications as when device is rooted ota is disabled on it....
And if it still shows up Then freeze software update, fota app and you are done...
Alternatively you can try resetting your tab or flashing a fresh stock rom or any other on your device..,,
Thanks for the replies guys. :highfive:
My wife has no need for a rooted device and I'd rather leave her in the somewhat walled garden on it. Not that she cant handle it but I'd rather not tempt fate with anything. I am after all her tech support.
So this morning I decided to run it one last time before I did a factory wipe on it and oddly it took longer to update then on previous occasions. Now when I go check for system updates it tells me no updates are available.
What is strange is that we tried it several times before and nothing changed. Now we are seeing a new Kernel version and build number:
Model: GT-P3113
Android Ver. 4.0.4
Kernel version: 3.0.8-999349
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT Thu Aug 23 23:43:39 KST 2012
Build Number: IMM76D.P3113UEBLH2
Of course murphy's law decided to wait until AFTER I posted here at XDA to get the update installed properly.
Ah well... At least it is resolved.

Actually, I've been having the same problem. One thing I've noticed is that all of the Roms out there for SGT2 appear to be for the wifi/retail models (GT-P3xxx). The verizon models aren't versioned that way. It is simply the SCH-I705 (no GT-P model designation). Therefore, and correct me if I am mistaken, there are no roms compatible with this hardware.
Also, My device is rooted, I still get OTA notifications. For my device, there is no fota.apk in the system/apps folder, so I either need to find a rom that will work with this phone, unroot/update, or do a factory reset and hope it fixes it. Right now I'm pretty frustrated with this damn thing...

Is 5.1.0 Available for us yet on the G3?

Right now I'm using 5.0.1

My phone won't let me update it OTA or through LG tools. Keeps saying this phone has been suspected of rooting. I tried factory reset but it gave me the same result. How can I update and get around this thing knowing I was rooted? I'm not even sure how it knew because I went to stock without adding any accounts or apps -_-

restored to stock (4.4.2) but phone wont see 5.0.1 update

I had to restore back to stock because I messed something up and it went fine, but it says server unavailable when trying to get the OTA for lollipop. Anything I am missing?
tried with att sim, data only, wifi connected...tried factory resetting again.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
Same here. Right in the middle of resetting so I can start on a new ROM/Kernel based on stock 21q w/21q kernel sources too. I just got done bugging LG for them to release updated source for the AT&T D850 and they finally did a few days ago.
Could mean a new update is coming, or more likely someone at AT&T pushed the wrong button and no one knows about it yet. lol
(edit: update server back online, it was down for several other devices I tried also.)
