My phone won't let me update it OTA or through LG tools. Keeps saying this phone has been suspected of rooting. I tried factory reset but it gave me the same result. How can I update and get around this thing knowing I was rooted? I'm not even sure how it knew because I went to stock without adding any accounts or apps -_-

[Q] Gingerbread update is here!

Info Can be found here, http://support.vzw.com/system_update/droid_2_global.html
Confirmed on Verizons Twitter feed that the Gingerbread release has been rolling out since the end of August.
Do a 'checkin' (*#*#checkin#*#*) on your phone then Settings > About Phone > System updates. Keep trying if none is found.
System Version: 4.5.607.A956.Verizon.en.US
Android Version: 2.3.3
Baseband Version: N_01.79.00R
Kernal Version: 2.6.32.9-gb092e69 [email protected] #2
Build Numbe: 4.5.1_57_D2G-37
ERI Version: 5
PRL Version: 52341
3G signal has been improved with this radio and speeds are more constant and faster.
You will have to go back to stock before you will even be notified of the update. When I had my droid 1 it took a week after the release before I received the update to 2.2

here is another news story on it.
Anyone updated yet
I have tried on 2 stock roms (rooted) and neither say there is an update available - before going back to stock via the 11 step process, has anyone actually updated their device yet - or am I just not patient enough and the update is actually rolling out slowly and not available manually? Any help is appreciated, since I would hate to blast phones to get the update (i would rather wait on a rooted version, but would love to get a better experience than the current ROM provides!)

I too would rather wait for a rooted version but I'm too excited to use Gingerbread. I will roll back my rom to the original tonight via Moto RSD Lite and then try the update, I will report back if all goes well... or not, hehe.

try *#*#checkin#*# or the other way around, i forgot.
My wife has the D2 Global on vzw. running the orig 2.2 not rooted or bootstrapped.
No update notifications / plus the software update says the phone is up to date.
*#*#2432546#*#*
Checkin works fine, still no update atleast in the Phoenix Metro Cell System.
Just tried checkin as well and no gingerbread love here, either. In Columbus, Ohio. I believe the update is still in it's "soak-test" phase, which means only a select few will actually receive it just yet. My guess is we're sstill a week out from actual release, but don't quote me on it. Only wishful hoping at this point .
Nothing here in NC yet.
Ive tried the *#*#checkin#*#* also no go.
Anyone got it yet? I wish we can find the SBF so we can just flash it ourselves
will being rooted prevent me from getting the update?

If you have a custom ROM on your rooted device then most defiantly. I went back to the original stock using the 11 step process without a problem, but you will most probably have to wipe/factory data to get it to work.
I'm still waiting for the new update though
Root, etc.
Just got a Droid 2 Global from Assurion (brand new) as a replacement for a stolen Droid 2. Pure stock, never been rooted; no update. So those of you with no update don't need to panic over whether you ran Z4ROOT or not; the update is NOT yet here, at least on my phone (California) and it is pure as the driven snow.

I'm pretty sure it would be an update.zip file, not an sbf file, but all the same it would be nice if someone would just copy it to their pc before updating so we could all have it already.

Nexus 5 still no OTA lollipop update

Good day,
Well, my wife has the Nexus 5 and her phone still hasn't got the 5.0 lollipop update by OTA. Which is wierd. I would do the manually image update on her phone. But she doesn't want to loose her game saves and all that crap. I am in Canada. Anyone else in Canada not get the lollipop update yet as well? And is there a work around. Probably a far shot of a question.
Thanks
Lol is everything stock?
my friend is having the same issue
i rooted my buddies nexus 5 and flashed the factory google image for 5.0, now that the patch has come out he wanted me to revert him back to stock
so i took him back to 4.4.4 where he was before the factory image.
he wasnt getting the update.
i read somewhere else that the bootloader has to be re-locked for ota's to work so i did that too. still no update.
Got my nexus today, hoping for lollipop update, and it says 4.4.4 is the latest one :/

Yup. Her phone is stock. Nothing done to it.
I got kind of the same problem. Got my OTA notification maybe 3 weeks ago. I didn't want to upgrade the phone just yet, had been hearing some battery issues and wanted to fint out if it was worth to upgrade.
Today I decided I would do the upgrade since the 5.0.1 has been moved out, I thought that 5.0.1 would take care of the first bugs. But when I try to upgrade it says I have the latest version. I'm on 4.4.4 stock, no root.
I did hide the notification for the updates right after I got the first notifications for it, but I have been checking back from time to time to see that the upgrade was in fact still availible on my phone. It was maybe a week ago, but not anymore.
Does anybody know if I'm supposed to do something to be able to upgrade now, or should I just wait?
Thanks
Should just be a waiting game.

Don't know if your answer was to me. But if it was, do you know Why the update is gone now? Any reason for that?
Yeah something vent wrong
I had kitkat 4.4.4 on my neuxs 5 Rooted. so when OTA lollipop came i went back to stock rom and updated My N5 from 4.0 to all the way 5.0 Lollipop.
but i had to go back to Kitkat because no game hacking software is working with lolipop so i wen back to 4.4.4.
Now again i m trying to get OTA update for 5.0 (no root) its not not showing me in update its stuck on 4.4.4. and its says that my software is up to date.
I am from Toronto Canada. I guess OTA update is gone for CANADA.
Lets just wait.

Ya, I don't know why her phone hasn't gotten it yet. I may have to unlock the bootloader and do it manually!!!!

Problem is that if her bootloader wasn't already unlocked, the act of unlocking prompts the phone to erase all userdata. Which is why you should always unlock the bootloader right away with a phone before doing anything.
I've read on reddit, that maybe cause it's 5.0.1 out, we have to wait in line again for it to become available on our devices, the same reason is with the guy who dismissed his notification

Sorry yes it was to you. Because the updates are delivered in batches. If you ignore the update for so long, you go to the back of the queue until it's your turn again.
OTA Update
Hey guys let us know if OTA update working again or not cos 5.0.1 is released i think it should work now...
any one?
this still doesn't explain why my wife's Nexus 5 is still on 4.4.4 and hasn't receiving the lollipop udate as of yet. It's been out for a bit now. This is screwed up beyond beleive!!!

You could always just purchase one those backup apps like Titanium that does not require root and then save everything. This way you could do a manual side load.

It does explain it.
OTA system is kinda of a lottery - either your device is a winner, or it isn't.
Just freaking get the OTA update zip and sideload it. You won't need to unlock bootloader for that.

Got mine a day later, was prompted to update to 4.4.3 followed by 4.4.4 immediately. No 5.0 or 5.0.1 updates yet but my nexus 4 is already on 5.0.1? Guess we'll have to wait.
OTA Update Working now
Hey guys OTA update is working now...
Were you previously under kitkat or did you get the OTA update from 5.0 to 5.0.1?
EDIT: Nevermind (at least for me), tired of waiting, I finally decided to manually load the OTA by following the tutorial here:
http://www.talkandroid.com/guides/b...on-your-nexus-device-download-links-included/
The funny thing is that after my phone was manually updated to 5.0, I automatically received the OTA for 5.0.1

VZ OTA Update - New release?

Phone is S-off, Rooted
Running Android 5.0.1
TWRP 2.8.5.0
My screen prior to going into recovery states: Software Status "Official"
I'm getting the VZ software update notifications. Does anybody have any idea what this update is for? When it has tried to auto update in the past, it has failed, which is expected.
Wasn't sure I needed to bother with updating my phone or grabbing an updated ROM for anything groundbreaking.
Thanks!

Nevermind, just googled the OTA software update number (4.17.605.5_R4) and it relates to Stagefright patch. I am currently on 4.17.605.5
Is it something to be concerned with leaving as is or go ahead and update?.

Not receiving Google Security Updates

I have a Pixel 2 with the bluetooth connection issues. When I go look for the Google Security Updates, it says that I am up-to-date. I did a factory reset and tried to get the update afterwards, but it has the same issue where it is not finding the update.
Has anyone successfully been able to find a way to get the phone to find the updates, or should I get a hold of Google to return the phone?
Thanks,
Mark
I have also not received the November security update, every time I check it says it is up to date. I bought the unlocked version from the Google Store and am using Verizon.
This reddit thread shows a way to potentially force it, i have not tried it yet -- https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixe..._on_september_security_patch_regular_pixel_2/
UPDATE: I have tried it, and it did not work
I also tried it and it didn't work. I would be more patient, but the Bluetooth issue is quite frustrating. I'll give it a few more days then will contact Google again for a replacement device.
Despite they say that the check for updates button now always bring the latest update. There's a lot of people that doesn't get it when pressed and have to wait a few days or weeks to get them like always.
Things that could affect the check for update button:
- Not being 100% stock un-rooted
- Being subscribed to the Android Beta
- and sometimes if you start executing an OTA update and it fails you might need to wait a few days for a second chance.
None of these reasons apply to you obviously but just giving my experience.
The best 100% official workaround to get now the update is to install the update manually using the stock recovery:

Are the ones marked Verizon for the Verizon version, or also for people who bought the unlocked version and are using Verizon? My current version is OPD1.170816.010, which is not a Verizon version, so I guess I would want OPD1.170816.025 since the version I currently have is not the Verizon version? Still find it crazy that an update would come this late, never got them this late on my 5X. I never understood the point of if I manually check I cant just auto get the OTA (I know there was that article somewhat recently that they are moving to that though).
I got 023 over the air automatically on my Pixel 2. Haven't downloaded the OTA from the developer site some I got this phone.
OPD3.170816.023, Nov 2017, Verizon
I too bought unlocked from Google but using on Verizon. I was on .10 and waited weeks after release for a push, but it never came. So I manually flashed the .25 update. No issues, working perfectly, with the Nov security update.
I am still on september security update. Got a Pixel 2 (Verizon). Hope they hurry up. Its almost december
Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I have the same problem ever since I cleared the Google Play Services' data through the app's interface. The OTAs just stopped coming. I have been flashing full OTA images since August, but it is getting really annoying. I still didn't get the November's patch, nor the December's one. It always says my system is up to date. I didn't try clearing the Play Services Framework's data, as it isn't effective and only causes trouble. I tried clearing the Play Services' data though many times, but it doesn't help.
I am rooted with Magisk. Everything else is fully stock (rom, kernel, recovery) and I do pass the Safety Net test.
If anyone has a solution to this problem, please share it with the world. I don't believe that I am the only one with this problem.
Same here, rooted pixel 2, currently away from pc so would love to update from phone
Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
I've had the same problem with my P2XL for the last couple of month. I have just been downloading the full updated firmware and flashing from my computer, but it would be nice to be able to update while travelling with no computer.
Details:
-Magisk rooted, everything else stock, including recovery.
-Google edition - I used to get updates, not sure what changed.
-Not on beta. I even tried signing up and then unsubscribing. No help.
-"Check for update" button does nothing.
-Clearing data on Google Services Framework doesn't help.
-I'm in Mexico on Telcel, but updates have worked in the past.
Haven't been receiving OTA updates since flashing the Pie factory image in August.
Device is stock apart from being rooted with Magisk.
Update button always says system is up to date, so I eventually sideloaded the latest OTA image at the end of November but still didn't receive any update notification in December.
I'm starting to suspect the update manager in Pie is detecting root or something, because I used to receive updates just fine on Oreo, and everyone else who has this problem also seems to be rooted.

New H918 Oreo Security Update

So the wave of the Oct. Security Update for the H918 is out. This new version is completely safe to update since this is still ARB 1 (See attached pictures).
Is it strictly security, or are there any UI/UX bugfix or additions?

If you accept, the phone will go into a bootloop since the stock recovery has been replaced by twrp. So don't accept the update. Reflashing the ROM would stop the bootloops if you just so happen to accept it.

Actually I did accept it when I first saw the notification then when I realized I was rooted (about 4 years without root) the phone booted in to TWRP and I freaked out ... so I moved the slider to see TWRP was asking to enter some sort of password or key for it to continue. but then I saw the cancel button and I cancened and it took me back to the main TWRP screen where I just rebooted the system without issues.
The only reason I rooted was because OREO battery life was 10 % per hour weather I touched or did not touch the phone. I thought this security patch might have battery optimizations.
But thanks for your replay, I'm going to stay away from this system update since I'm rooted not. I guess I got luck and not bricking my phone.
