openvpn for Android app not working on the tf700? - Asus Transformer TF700

I can't get this to work, all the settings seem to be OK, I use the same on my GNote (ICS) and it works fine; on the JB TF700 it connects but then 'hangs' with a 'no process' message in the log.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using xda app-developers ap

It works for me.
I Installed busybox, openvpn installer, openvpn settings.
Connects to openvpn server without any problems.
My tablet is running JB, rooted.

OpenVPN is working for me as well. Have you tried doing a PPTP connection to your VPN? What about a different server? It's possible your VPN could be having a server issue, and not necessarily the app.
You may want to try a uninstall and reinstall. It's possible something went wonky when doing an update.

You can also try to use FEAT VPN.
It does not need root.

I tried the free version in ICS and it worked without problems.

Can't Connect to VPN

I just got my TB this morning, am working on configuring it to replace my DInc. I have an L2TP over IPSec (PSK) VPN set up on my DInc, and it works without any problem. I tried the exact same settings on my TB, and I get a box "Attention Unable to connect to the network. Do you want to try again?"
I get this message whether I try to connect from 3g/4g or from my own wireless network (on the same LAN as the VPN). When I look at the logs on the machine hosting the VPN, I see absolutely nothing when I attempt to connect from my TB (connecting from my DInc produces the right log entries). I can also connect to the VPN server from other clients (Windows 7, etc.) without any problems.
*Edit: Cannot connect from TB via PPTP either. Can connect from other PPTP clients.
I have been able to connect to my works VPN (using PPTP) without problem.
Very fast and stable so far! Used it for about 15 minutes without a hitch.

Thanks for the reply. I am still unable to connect directly from my TB, using PPTP or L2TP. If I configure my TB as a mobile hotspot and connect to the internet through it, though, I can connect to my VPN server using the TB's internet connection. But I still cannot connect from the TB using its VPN client.
Lovely. After doing some extensive reading, it sounds like the problem is likely the rom itself. Guess I'll be waiting for an update.
can you list what settings your using in your VPN? since this forum is aout people having trouble and not bragging about whats working?
I too am running dasBAMF and have no VPN's added nor can I find default settings

I'm guessing your post was directed at rajuabju, but hopefully I can help. I do finally have both PPTP and L2TP/IPSec VPN's working on my TB. With what are you having trouble?
Have you tried OpenVPN? I have had the most luck with that, as well as having it forward all traffic through the VPN.

Connecting to Cisco IPSEC VPN

I've rooted my Xoom and tried connecting to a Cisco VPN using VPN Connections (http://code.google.com/p/get-a-robot-vpnc/), but I'm not having any luck.
Am I missing the required 'tun' module? If so, where do I get it? If not, how do I make sure the tun module is loaded/enabled?
Got it working. I rooted my Xoom, installed BusyBox via 'BusyBox Installer' on the market (not sure if this is necessary), then I installed the VPN Connections apk found in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12124163&postcount=23
Works like a charm after that.
Thanks, exactly what I needed as well.
Is it just me, or does the program hang when it disconnects from a vpn?

Happens to me too. I guess the only way to be sure you're disconnected is to kill the process. I'm just glad I have something working
What kernal are you using? I have not rooted yet or picked a kernal.

Ad-Hoc WiFi Issues

Hi everyone,
I'm having issues with ad-hoc wifi connections on my transformer. Unlike most other people, I'm not trying to tether to a phone, I'm trying to connect with a computer so I can achieve a lower latency when I'm using some android pro audio control apps.
The problem is that the transformer sees the ad-hoc network, but cannot connect it (can't get an IP). I tried all different forms of security, including no security. Nothing works.
I'm running stock 8.6.5.21, rooted. No custom kernels or custom ROMs. It's a B60 pad, so it was rooted via nvflash.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
You need to either configure a DHCP server on your computer so that your TF101 is allocated an IP, or you need to configure a static IP on your TF101 so that it can talk to the computer.

Thanks for the answer, but doesn't that get done automatically by Windows 7? If not, that seems kind of stupid...
I can confirm that it is not a windows 7 issue. My ipod touch connects to my computer-based ad-hoc network just fine, without any IP configuration or extra software. My pad still refuses to. Help?
Thanks!
I had the same issues at the beginning. I switched kernels and roms but none of them worked out of the box with ad-hoc network on win7. But windows 7 gives you the possibility (except starter edition) to set up a virtual router which works perfectly for me (I don't know if it is a sign of small latency that I was able to use splashtop with less than 1 second offset...). Just google the term "virtual router" and you will find a pretty nice open source tool. An alternative would be connectify, but this always made my laptop fan scream after a while.
Thanks, I'll check it out and report back.

VPN Problem with 4.0.3

I have a New Asus Transformer Pad with 4.0.3 on it.
I've added a new VPN IPSEC XAuth PSK to it and it connects fine but when I start the VPN then try to browse the net its reboots and if I try to access email it can't see anything.
I need to know if this is a bug or if something is configured wrong.
I've tried looking everywhere to find this out but can't find anyone that's had this problem so far.
I set up VPN on mine using IPSEC XAuth PSK, it says it connects, but I can't do anything (like remote into a PC). It doesn't crash though.
When I asked my Administrator to look, he could see the connection but there was no data coming through at all.
I've rooted mine and used VPN Widget which I used on my DHD and it works fine.
Update
Asus has since released and update but i'm not sure what it corrected. The version number hasn't changed so it must just be some backend fixes.
When i connect the VPN now it doesn't crash but as you said it doesn't look like its pushing the data over the VPN connection. The stats never change.
I've tried putting in the DNS search name, DNS server. That didn't help.
The forwarding route might help but i'm unsure what route i should be putting in there any ideas?
I'm a system/network administrator, if possible I'll see if I can try and set it up for myself and see if I can replicate the bug (if I can't it's probable that it's a misconfiguration on your end).
Might take a while though
Settings
I'm using a IPSEC XAuth PSK for the VPN connection.
Hopefully this will be able to give you the same results.
Same Issue w Asus, but not Acer
I have been waiting for a while to have this resolved as I want to be able to use my Transformer Prime to vpn to my work. My IPSEC XAUTH PSK connects as well, but will not allow me to remote desktop into my work PC.
I bought an Acer A500 for my daughter and this morning I was able to update it to ICS. Tried the exact same VPN settings, connected and remoted into my work PC flawlessly.
Looking forward to the next firmware update for ICS / Transformer Prime so it hopefully resolves the issues.
Found a VPN that works
So that people know I found a VPN that works with PSK X/Auth.
Its pretty new made by Matthias Meier called VpnCilla.
There is a trial to test with but you then have to buy it for $5.46.
Try it out it works.
As an alternative, you can set up a pptp vpn using the vpn setup wizard in windows 7 for free (assuming you have windows 7). I can confirm that this works with the 300. It uses microsoft point to point 128bit encryption, and can be configured to require password encryption. Its not exactly high end encryption, but its better than no encryption or novpn connection at all. It will protect you from some kiddie running a packet sniffer program.

[Q] Looking for a rom that has ad hoc wifi support.

Was using foxfi to tether my t101 to my phone but recently my carrier has managed to block any traffic to a foxfi tethered device. Barnacle still works for non android devices. I'm rooted and updated to the latest ics. In wifi settings I can see the hotspot but when I try to connect it just says saved and never obtains an IP address. I'm hoping one of the custom roms (preferably ics) has ad hoc capabilities built in?
ICS and ad hoc? No way, afaik.
You can try the wpa_supplicant mod. Not sure if it work for the latest ICS update but it's worth a try
Also doesn't Barnacle have a bluetooth option?
Let me see if I can find the post, if not just search wpa_supplicant

I've been trying the wpa_supplicant2 unsuccessfully. It gets stuck at turning on wifi. I believe the latest update may require a developers mod to make it work again.
Barnacle doesn't have Bluetooth capabilities.
SOLVED!
I've been working on this for hours but it's so easy. I flashed revolver HD on it but I don't think that's necessary. Using barnacle on the phone just turn on wpa encryption. On the tablet when I told it to connect it asked for the key. I entered it and instead of just instantly saying saved it said obtaining ip address and then connected! Everything works. Browser, email, Pandora, Netflix, Speed test etc.
