Hi guys this issue has been in my wy for a while now but now ive decided to ask
. I run Aokp build 40 on my nexus s. I then install a gapps-ics2012*** file from goo.im and from a couple of other sites. Rom works beautifully as usual. But every single gapps i flashed after rom flash the install becomes successful, yet when i boot my phone the only gapps i c r google play, talk, and search. Nothing else. Please help me flash properly so ALL the gapps can show up (music, gmail, googlr plus, play books, maps etc.) Coz all i got now is google play and talk. I can dowbload them manually from play store but thats irritating n hacing a google phone is supposed to present u with pre installed gapps.
Thanks! Answer shall get thanks as usual; )
Nothing wrong here, that's how it's supposed to be. You always have to download Maps, Gmail etc via store. (They're not in the zip)
However, you can add them to the gapps-zip yourself: Download all the apps you need and then fetch the apk's from /data/app. Open the gapps-zip and there add them to /system/app. Next time you flash the zip, they'll be installed as sys-apps.
Only app this didn't work for me was Chrome, complained about something's missing. But since I don't use it anymore, I never cared to investigate.
Edit:
Should you make your own zip and there's an update of an app via store, the new apk will be placed in /data/app on your phone, overruling the one in /system. So to update the zip, get it, add it... Not exactly rocket science, right? ^^
Thanks alot!but i do think the jellybean roms will come with preinstalled gapps included in the roms?Like the GN jellybean rom ect
hi there, i got a problem where after i flashed gapps, after i reboot, an error appears saids ''unfortunately, setup wizard has stopped.''
can any please help me... sorry im still a newbie....
Do you mean when you have to touch the Android?
That can be fixed by touching the 4 corners of the screen!

yeah I think in jb all gapps are included
@bony we need more info, Rom and gapps version, things like that. Also, if the Rom wasn't properly signed, then gapps won't work.
Any app that is available in the market is not included in the zip.
That's the way it is and there is no issue.
My g/f phone is on the last version of Saba Prime v16. We did a force update to get Hangouts today and it worked fine..... until we rebooted it. Now Hangouts reports "Google Play Service, which some of your applications rely on,is not supprted by your device. Please contact the manufacturer".
Google Play Services and Hangouts were uninstalled, phone rebooted, then from play store they were installed again but the message persists.
I have a Desire S with Fallout rom, the same version of both apps and works fine even after multiple reboots....
Any ideas ?
I'm getting the same issue on a VZW Nexus. The weird thing is I have 2 Nexus LTE, one mine, one is my wife's. Both are running the exact same ROM/gapps/kernel/radio.... On one device the update to hangouts was flawless, on the other I get "device not compatible". Then a "play services" won't update error....
I've wiped the ROM clean install and tried to update before restoring other apps and still have issues.
Anybody have ideas to correct?
First idea is it sounds like it might be due to different versions of gapps before installing hangouts; I know that the gapps I flashed onto my phone got updated at some point afterwards, and now looks different to the package I downloaded and flashed originally.
Second idea, do your phones have the same CID? (i.e. same carrier, same sim-unlock state).

Okay I fixed on my end...
It seems as though it was on Google's server end, if that's possible.
The short answer for me was, wipe data > install ROM > install hangouts via apk (previously downloaded)> reboot > flash gapps > update Google now> update Google play services.... Viola. Seems like there should have been an easier fix.
Long Answer
I tried wiping data reinstalling ROM and gapps and that DID NOT work. I was getting the same error for Hangouts, Google Now, and Play Services and then some.... "Device not compatible"
I tried the exact same thing but logged into my Google account rather than my wife's and it worked just fine. No errors... Retried wiping ROM and flashing gapps, used her account, device not compatible again. That's why I'm guessing it was server side if that's possible. Even the web version of Play Store was saying device not compatible. CIDs were restored in each case and running same AOKP version and same Gapps.
That lead me to trying the install without Gapps... You only get so far before you must login to Google for obvious reasons, but for what ever reason, having the app installed on my phone before signing into gapps allowed for updating all of the other Play Services without issue.
It doesn't make sense to me but I'm up and running now...
My Solution
I'm a little late to the party, but this is the easiest post to find on Google for this problem. Mine worked after fresh ROM install, but it would start giving the error after a reboot. After much searching the thing that ultimately worked for me was to uninstall updates for the Play Store. I haven't uninstalled Play Services and after the Store auto updated, I could use Hangouts once again. I am using a HTC Desire with Cool Droid v3 GSM ROM.
I can confirm that steps suggested by MikeAce00 worked flawlessly.
This is what I did with a rom with gapps installed already
1. wipe & install rom -- do not input google credentials
2. install hangouts (google+ not necessary!) apk manually
3. input google credentials
4. update google play services (Hangouts even requested this...happened automatically after inputting the google credentials)
5. restart
6. done! -- hangouts should work
For me it did not seem to make any difference if you restart directly after installing hangouts apk or after inputting the google credentials

I've tried the methods proposed here, but no luck. At poinjt 4 I don't get a request for update, just the same old message about google play services not being supported.
I'm currently going through older versions of gapps and see if I get to a point where Google Play updates the right files in the right order.

Introducing Open GApps for Stock
This package aims to help everyone that wants to integrate updates to the GApps into their ROM without the risks of Titanium Backup.
It was originally a fork of the work of TKruzze and it's now part of the Open GApps project.
Some things changed from the old PA GApps package to accommodate the installation on stock ROMs. The largest part of the changes is not visible to the user, but I would like to list them here:
• All the libchrome libs from /system/lib and /system/lib64 are now removed.
• The sizes of the apps are now directly measured from the zip, thus resulting in a more accurate estimation of the occupied space.
• The Google Email client (the one that became a stub following an update on the Play store) will be removed if Gmail is going to be installed.
• Android System WebView has been added to the Stock package.
The gapps-config functionality is still here and can be used to exclude some apps or to reduce the package to a smaller size.
GApps for Stock joined the Open GApps project and became Open GApps for Stock
It's just like the standard Open GApps stock package with the added ability to flash over Stock ROMs. This new package is called "fornexus" and is intended to use on Nexus devices with Stock ROMs from Google. Open GApps for stock is now included in the main code of the OpenGApps project, so you can now flash the stock package or smaller ones directly on your Nexus device. The compatibility with other ROMs is not guaranteed, but you can ask for help here (and not in the Open GApps thread) providing the debug logs (found in the same folder of the ZIP file) and I can tell you if your problem derives from a complete incompatibility or can be solved by me.
Download available now! (Post #3)
FAQ:
Some Frequently asked Questions about the Open GApps package can be found here. If you don't find your question in the FAQs, you can post it here and you will be answered.
This post will be populated with the time as questions arise.
Thanks to the joining with the Open GApps project, this package is now available for both arm and arm64 devices, from Android 4.4 KitKat to Android 5.1 Lollipop.
Download:
You can find the latest version from the website OpenGApps.org
You can download now any package and if a Stock ROM is detected, it will switch to the "for Stock" mode.
Gapps for Stock 20150501 released
Changelog:
• The package has been tested (on my Nexus 5 using gapps-config to reduce the size) and all went fine. I can say it's safe to install.
• Google Play Music updated to version 5.9.1853R.1893462
• Google Play Newsstand updated to version 3.4.0 (2015040709)
• Google App (Search) updated to version 4.5.13.19.arm
• Maps updated to version 9.8.1
So are these gapps only for version 5.0.1? They will not flash on 5.1.1.
Yes, 5.0 only, 5.1 version will come out in the near future.
Bravo cumpà
A few suggestions:
- Mega.co.nz links are quite hard to download from smartphone (you need the app, it doesn't work using the browser)... I suggest to use androidfilehost instead
- Take a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/pa-gapps-continuation-t3098071 ... maybe you can join efforts and create a team
hi nice work
does it also contains 64bit apps

You don't need the app. Just enable "request desktop site" in Chrome settings.

Nice work on this! I've been seriously contemplating a package that does exactly this, but that hardly seems necessary now. Good luck with the project. Mind if I link your thread from our FAQ?

hi!
great idea, finally!
i tried the stock_gapps-5.0.1-20150529 package on stock OnePlus cm12S latest official rom, and have FC on both gmail and calendar just after boot... attach logs...
as i was on a different gapps package, i've done what usually needs to be done:
wipe cache+dalvik+system
flashed stock rom+gapps (+kernel, mooab and supersu)
wipe cache+dalvik again

The problem is that your ROM includes some GApps in non standard paths and you now have Google Calendar and Gmail installed two times in /system. Can you test if also Google CloudPrint is crashing while I build and upload the new package?

never activated it, even if installed, but the constant FCs were of gmail and calendar... i can't try now, passed 2 hours in testing and now battery is gone and charging
do you plan to fix this, if you can? Other gapps packages don't install at all or i've to remove many apps because they fill the system partition (even if i successfully flashed about EVERYTHING using your package)...

GApps are meant to be installed on top of AOSP ROMs that do not include already some of the Google Apps. Your ROM is not an AOSP ROM, but my package is meant to be installed on top of Stock ROMs, that already include GApps. The problem is that your ROM not only includes some GApps, but they're also in the wrong location, and installing a GApps package would bring to conflicts. I updated my package to remove the GApps installed in your ROM too, so that there should be no more FCs. Also you'll gain another 34MB of space to include even more GApps to your config (you don't have to exclude TalkBack and Messenger anymore if you want). The updated package is currently uploading and will be available tomorrow or later today, depending on your timezone.

thanks a lot, you're great! There's no other packages that allow to keep gapps in rom updated in stock roms that already have them, like OPO cm12s...
i didn't remove those apps for lack of space (there are STILL 136mbs free, even though i flashed the big STOCK package and other personal stuff like franco kernel, mooab adblocker, maxxaudio and supersu, too)... i removed talkback because don't use it, and messenger because i use hangout, instead
what do you think of EMAIL? in stock rom it's named EMAIL, but it's really BOXER, the email client made by cyanogen and released as full app just for OPO... do i have to explicit put a line like "+Email" in config or it's left untouched, as email is the stub for the old email client made by google?
tomorrow i'll download and flash your new gapps package, thanks again!

Boxer will not be removed and +Email is unnecessary. However I added the Boxer keyword to remove the CM Email client if someone wants to.
Sorry for the Noob-lines...I flash roms many years now.. For Nexus 5 I used recently some roms that they had prebuiled Gapps in them..So when I finally booted the phone it was clear with Google Messaging app, Google dialer and Google Contacts, Google Chrome, Google Gmail... There where no sign of the stock AOSP apps (like the AOSP email app, AOSP browser, etc). The best of this part is that you have no concern to get rid of them because there wheren' t there.. But the latest builds for all the roms are without prebuilded Gapps and so you have to flash them yourself.. My question is which Gapps should I flash to replace all the AOSP apps with the Google one's?
