Hi All,
Yesterday I purchased Spice MI-500. Its one good looking phone and I am loving it already. But there is a disappointment. I am not sure where the problem exists. Your inputs would be valuable.
I am trying to connect the phone to my office MS Exchange 2010 / ActiveSynch server using Email stock app. With all the credentials / settings correct, it errors out saying "Can't connect to server"
Talking to my admin, he reported this error on the server: 2012-10-12 06:52:07 10.51.1.90 POST /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync/default.eas Cmd=FolderSync&User=somename%5Cusername&DeviceId=SpiceMi-500&DeviceType=Android&Log=V141_LdapC1_RpcC13_RpcL31_Cpo19968_Fet20013_S108_Error:deviceIdNonAlphanumeric_Mbxcmail02.officedomain.com_Throttle0_BudgetD <truncated>
Note: Error:deviceIdNonAlphanumeric
The device id is : Spice MI-500.
Is "-" the problem? How do I work around this? Its defeating my purpose to buy this phone as a business / smart phone.

To the problem above that we continue to see, Spice have been informed and they would get back with their comments soon.
Meanwhile if anyone knows how to bypass this issue, without rooting the phone and changing the device id would be great. The potential would be to somehow let activesynch accept special chars, but it seems to be something that cannot be achived. Any Exchange / ActiveSynch gurus can comment though.

Moxier email works..but without exchange support form stock cant update contacts, primary notification will not work..integration with other apps will not work..this is usless for me as I cannot use exchange. Support did not have a clue how to change the device id.
root and edit build.prop in system folder
Everything is possible on Android. Only limited by hardware not software.
Just root the device and change display model and ID to whatever you like instead of Spice Mi-500. I changed mine to Galaxy Note N7000. You will need to edit System/build.prop file from any file manager with root access.
That way you can easily connect to Exchange. Spice Guys can't do this because rooting voids warranty and officially they can not change the brand name w.o management consent.

Is there anyway that I can get BlackBerry Connect to install on my 700W. My company is moving away from exchange, so i will lose my push email. I am in the USA and on verizon so the 750v is out of the question till cingular picks it up or the price for a export comes down.
Thanks - Lil0ne

Here are the install files for the treo 750v:
http://palmone.r3h.net/downloads.palm.com/emea/BBCBISTreo750v.cab
Also here is the link to the manual:
http://euro.palm.com/de/de/support/handbooks/Blackberryconnect_Handbook_en.pdf
Let me know how it works for you.
I have everything installed and I think its gonna work but I just need the Desktop software. I tried to download the one stright from BB but it looks like I need another one.
Its called:: BBC Desktop for Windows Mobile
and the file name is: BBCDesktopTreo750v.Exe
I hope someone can find it.

help with install
Can you take me thru the install? I downloaded the cab file, but do not know what to do next?
I am also on Verizon with a 700w. I had the BIS service when I changed to Treo.
So far this is what I know.
There are 2 things that you need.. the .cab file and the " BBC Desktop For windows mobile "
to install the cab file just copy it to your device / SD card and then " open " it with any file explorer, and it will install just like any other program.
ill update this when I get ahold of the desktop software.

I have setup the BB Connect on my Treo 750v (on Cingular) and everything seemed to install correctly. I was able to provision to my corp. BES and receive the IT Policies. However, I only get a partial icon on the Today screen. Rather then seeing 4 Blackberry icon thingys, I get 2. Which tells me I am not completely connected. I see that I have the service books installed (ALP & CMIME). The "Email Setup" button is disabled under the Utility tab. I have done all the obvious. Selected "Register Now", etc.
I also have the BB Connect plan on Cingular. I previously had a Blackberry Pearl and a Nokia E62 w/ BB Connect. Nothing changed on my account.
Any ideas?
right now im getting the " you account is not provised correctly " or something to that effect. I think its telling me somthing on the BES server is not setup correctly. If anyone has any experience with that please, tell me how to setup my account. I am a IT admin, but this is my 1st time dealing with BB stuff.

Looking at the BB Connect manual, the status icon I am getting is that it's in the process of connecting. I never get to the full BB Connect icon on my Today screen.

I can. I have all the service books installed and the IT Policies downloaded to my device. I am able to see "Connection Available" within the BB Connect software on the Treo. I was able to provision my Treo to the BES and was able to sync using the handset syncing method in the BB Connect setup process.

Make sure you do not have any other Blackberry software installed (i.e. Blackberry Desktop Manager). I had an issue before with that.
I am getting the same provision error. I cannot connect to the BB desktop at all.

I think I know why I am not getting connected. When I spoke to the data support folks, they had me having the Nokia E62 w/ BB Connect on my account. There was no way for me to change the device using the Cingular BB portal. It did not recognize my device (probably because its Vodapone/unlocked). I wonder if they can override the PIN/IMEI number on there side.
How do you get the PIN #? I had one on my BB, but no longer have it.

The BB Connect Desktop software will provide one. If you connect the treo with the BB Connect desktop software, you will see the PIN.
I deleted the old desktop software, but still cannot get into the new wm desktop. I get the same provision error.

What does the exact error say?
The account is not provisioned properly on the server. Please contact the system administrator.

I got around that error by adding my exchange account into BES.
Now i can get the desktop software to connect to my phone

Hi,
I am new on this portal but I read a lot in the last days and was very surprised of the solutions you find and also the apps you made working. Great
I know its not looking very good to ask as newbie for help but I hope you can help me... I am searching for more than a week for a solution and tried even to edit the registry but unfortunately I am not good enough to find the solution
So what do I want do to?
I have a HD2 (branding free) and I want to install Avaya One-X mobile.
Well the installation was succesfull and I also get it running inside my company and also the private modus. But since I have it installed I hear no ringtone. It always plays an "ding" and thats all.
So right now I always have to keep my eyes on my mobile to see if someone calls me or not.
And the second problem is that I also get no caller picture displayed..
But as soon as I deinstall the one-x everything is working (phone rings and caller picture is displayed)????
So you are my last hope to find a solution. Please can you help me?
If you need any further infos please let me know
Thanks
Frank
oh... the one-x mobile software is free for download on the avaya webiste
I can post you the link later (I am not allowed to post it right now...)
i'm getting mad with it...
Now I am a step further.. I now that the software deactivates the onboard call handler. I think it is only a registry setting to reenable it. after done the caller name+picture should be displayed and even the call-slider should be back.
Does someone have an idea where I can find the entry?
well now I know exactly the differents between the registry with one-x installed vs without. But I have no experiences in reading/interpreting my results.
Is a Dword something which can be used as name? or is it only a value?
Does someone has a guide for beginners please?
Did you contact Avaya support for assistance?
I have recently taken over all our telecoms at the office (avaya system)
Saw your post on One-x and been reading a little on it. Where did you get the install files from and did you get it working in the end?
I have a support contact with a company called central so I can contact them for free advice if needed
is this the version you are using?
http://support.avaya.com/css/appman...loads/P0438/5.2.x/C201012083328498084#summary
I'll take a look at what the installer does as I've not heard of it before but it's not letting me register to download it .
yep that's the software I am trying to download
Could not create an account either
I have emailed my support company and they will be sending the software to me on a disc.
thanks for your responses.
I installed the version for pocketpc WM6 (not the UC version) and yes it is working fine
But:
The problem I have is that since I have it installed it
- my mobile does not play a ringtone any more
- "slide to answer" and "show caller name+picture" is away
When I get the disc tomorrow ill post up the results.
This app will be very helpful if i get it working
As for the no ringtone issue I am not sure.
I would attach it... but i have no permissions...
@ fards: there are two versions. one for "Windows mobile 5"and the other one for "Windows mobile pocket pc" (here you can find it for WM6). the first is a UC versions. For this you need an internet connection and a uc-server running in your company. the other one is for normal mobile use. it calls via the phone connection the server and then your call is managed by the server.
support.avaya.com/css/appmanager/public/support/Downloads/P0483/C20090710162819340875658#files
you can find it here for free and you need no login
I do not see the HD2 listed as compatible device.
Did you get it working or still having problems?
How does the Avaya interface on the mobile phone look like?
Is it replacing the WM dialer completly or only while Avaya software is running in the background?
I have just installed it onto my HD2. The install hung at the end for about 20 mins. Reset device and the software has replaced my dialer. Appears to be working but im reading on how to configure the ini file now.
Tested on personal mode and call connected fine.
it replaces the dialer completly...
for the ini file you need the settings of your ACM. here you have to enter different extensions for each function...
you also has to to enter your mobile number in the ACM. Because your are identified via your number.
But can you test if you get a ringtone for incoming calls? thats my problem. I get no
Just to draw a conclusion to this This topic. This solution does not work correctly on HD2. Unless someone has managed to do this and has not shared?
sry... I was offline for a while... Does somesone find the solution?
No i gave up in the end..... bloody crap
I did see a "bypass" for android but it was for 1.5 I didt see anything for 2.2. My company requires a password with their exchange on a mobile phone, I think its annoying. Please help, I remember when I used to use windows mobile they had a registry edit to bypass it.
Thanks in advance,
Sean
bump? Please help....
bump .....
Are you trying to get fired, cause that's whats likely to happen if your company finds out.
It's your companies data and it's their right to set requirements for using it.
hey .. before i get bombarded with replies like this isnt the right forum or we are not supposed to help with stolen mobile cases ... please just hear me out
my mobile got stolen 1 month back .. i had where's my droid installed but that didnt help. there wasnt any other mobile tracking app installed so after taking all necessary measures like changing passwords and blocking IMEI and cell-number i gave up on ever finding it.
but today i just fancied logging into play.google.com and they still have my stolen galaxi mini 5570 listed under the android devices associated with my email. before getting stolen google market would recognize that "mobilink" was my service provider but today i found that another service provider "telenor" was associated with my galaxy mini.
so now am thinking that the theif has obviously put in some other sim in my cell, but is still using google market place with my email address.
what i want to ask all of you is that is there ANY GOD DAMN POSSIBLE WAY that i can trace the mobile number of the person using my cell? i dont want the GPS tracking as in pakistan GPS will only tell me an approximate location.
please help me!

Don't know about tracing the phone number (maybe the police can help with that?) - but Plan B might be able to help you locate it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lookout.labs.planb&hl=en
And, yea, this should probably be posted in General or Q&A...

Hello,
I have just noticed that e-mail client isn`t working, it was setup as exchange server. So, I`ve removed account, setup it again. But, it hangs on the message: Your emails will be downloaded... And it hangs, and hangs. I`ve tried form setup and from email program, and the result is the same. If I setup pop3, than it works.
Is there a solution for this? Had anyone had similar problem?
Thanks
I'm far from an expert on the matter. I will try and help you though. To me it sounds like an authentication issue.
Since telent is widely documented with Exchange. I feel it is the best/easiest tool.. Running some basic tests. Ruling out server auth issues, versus the device is mis-configured.
Can the device telnet into the exchange server, do you know how? Assuming you know the basics of telnet and have an app to do so.. Does it reject the connection or does it reply to the HELO with the 250 OK.
@Enablingwolf
Sorry, but I don`t know how to test telnet. Please be kind to navigate me through.
Thanks
I can't yet post links. So you will have to insert the http part to complete the address.
exchange.mvps.org/smtp_frames.htm
You can install Fing off the store. It'll have the ability to telenet, plus other useful features. The link I helped with, will give the basics easier than me typing it all out. (It is pretty easy to run the tests. If you've used a command prompt.)
Ok, I`ll give it a try.
Thanks
