[Q] Xoom 2 ME ICS Root? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there guys. I have to admit that I'm a noob to the Motorola Xoom 2 and all the flashing business. I can flash roms on my Sammy G S 3 no problems but the Xoom 2 ME is so confusing.
So the question is this.. After receiving the OTA ICS update how can I root my device? Is it a case of having to downgrade somehow and root that way? Is it possible to take a ROM backup just in case anything goes belly up?
If it helps on the box it states that I have the Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition MZ707-16
In the About tablet page it says the following:
System Version - 77.128.14.MZ607.Retail.en.EU
Model Number - XOOM 2 ME
Android Version 4.0.4
Build number 7.7.1-128_MZ607-14 <-- How has my model changed?
Guys I'm so confused so please help. All I require is to root and be able to factory reset in the event of some failure.
All help gratefully received,
Doozeman

[Q] Rooting HTC Droid Inc 2

Hi everyone,
I'm probably beating a dead horse, but I'm a total newb regarding rooting etc. I have an HTC Droid Inc 2 with 0.98.0000 (2.3.4) and would like to root my phone. I realize that the only way to root this phone is to downgrade it to 2.3.3 so that it can be S-offed. I'm trying to decide as to whether or not it would be worth downgrading. Would I be able to upgrade after rooting? If a version update is finally available, would I be able to upgrade without having to unroot? Also how do firmware updates from Verizon play into this? Can they be installed manually after rooting? Thanks in advance for your advice.

[Q] [XOOM 2] A question for ROM of XOOM2

As I have a XOOM 2 running Android 4.0.4, I'm searching for further update for this device.
I found that the EOS Team has released Android 4.1.2 nightly build for XOOM, but not the XOOM 2 version.
Actually I haven't seen any 4.1.2 build for XOOM 2. So I want to ask,
can I use XOOM rom on the XOOM 2? if Not, is there any stable room for XOOM 2 in the entire forum?
if there is, i hope that you will send me a link of the thread.
thx for your help!
No
I Dont know much about the xoom 2 but the bootloader was never unlocked therefore no custom roms thats why theres no dev support

I've recently received a Xoom 2 but it's running 3.2.2 , You've updated it or it was the original version came from the company?
another interesting matter is that I've not seen any motorola device managers that support Xoom 2!

Tablet is upgradeable directly from Motorola to version 4.0.4 (versions can be checked e.g. https://motorola-global-en-uk.custhelp.com/app/software-upgrade-news/g_id/1994). Some time ago in some language version there were not clearly stated, that 4.0.4 would be the last version for Xoom2, but now it seems that it is.
Device manager at least for US version: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_detail/a_id/78644/p/7901,8197

The Motorolla Defy has locked boot loader but can flash custom ROM's via 2nd init another device xt910 uses another form.
I think the device was just not owned as many due to XOOM.

Newer SGT2 10.1 model comes with bootloader protection or something? Still rootable?

I just bought my new Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 2 days ago and I love it. When it comes the root part I have 3 questions related to it. Specifically is the model GT-P5110
1) Does the newer tablets comes with bootloader locking chips? It happened to me once with the iPod 2nd gen. long time ago. The newer model (or MC model had a bootloader feature that was blocking the jailbreak). Does this happening to android tablet? Just to be sure.
2) If yes on the 1st question do I have to be care with root? My tablet comes with Android 4.0.4. I didn't update it. Came with pre-installed 4.0.4. So which guide do you recommended to follow in order to root this beautiful tablet ?

I'm thinking also for the second one. I'm scared for the 1st one since it's working good for 4.0.3. I don't take any risks. Any confirmation about my choice?
Sorry for being noob. I have rooted many Android devices in the past and I need some help. As you know every root (for each device) is different.
Thank you

Tab 2 - GT-5113 Rooting info

My wife has a Tab 2 / GT-5113 that need to be rooted so I can do some much needed updates. It is running version 4.2.2 and the only instructions I can find are for 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 and I need to be sure I'm using the correct method for this tablet. I'm well versed on rooting HTC's since I have done a number of them, but not these so I need some directions on the Samsung side.

Now, the problem for me is that it is unrooted and i can not get apps running on it. It has 4.0.4 currently on it. I know that it is possible to get JB running on the tablet, but can not find any active links to download a build. Thanks to anyone who will respond.
