MOD -- please delete this thread, mysteriously i switched off the phone, and restarted it, and it started properly , i am extremely sorry creating this thread
I know it may be crazy, but a similar situation happened to me too.
My HTC One S (S4) had just been unlocked, CWM installed, and installed Venom. I went to use Boot_Flash_Script and then into recovery to Clear Cache. After that point my phone wouldn't boot. It would flash quickly, then have a black screen for 10-15 seconds with the orange LED glow then straight into recovery. Any option to wipe and reinstall the rom didn't work.
Solution: An Aha! Moment... I had forced a shutoff by holding vol up + vol down + top power for 10 seconds. UNPLUG the USB cable! Then after turning it on again with no buttons pushed, it went into Venom.
Whew... Posting an explanation in case anyone else cannot get into hboot / bootloader and thought to have bricked their htc one s. I thought it was bricked until I unplugged the cable and fully shut it off.

Please help this newbie out!... I recently rooted my Inspire 4G with attn1's hack kit. That went smooth without issue and I have tried a variety of custom ROMs thanks to this great community, but I have noticed a random issue with booting into ClockworkMod Recovery since... I installed Rom Manager and ClockworkMod Recovery 3.0.0.6 and the problem is that sometimes I can boot into recovery and sometimes not. It only seems to work is the first time I reboot immediately after flashing ClockworkMod, then subsequent reboots the phone just boots normally. (I hold volumn down and press power.) I have also tried installing Amon's Recovery (supersonic 2.3) manually using Fastboot - it seems to install without error but when I try holding the down volume button and hitting power - phone just boots normally. So it seems I am stuck with a ClockworkMod install that does not really work with reliability.... I am lost now trying to figure out why this is happening.
Can someone that has seen similar issues provide some tips/suggestions?
TIA

I had the same problem... quit using version 3.0.0.6 and go back to the earliest version, 2.5.1.3 through All ClockworkMod Recoveries. Worked for me.

You don't have 'fast boot' enabled in settings/application? If so it will not really shut off completely and when you power it up with VOL- it will not work.
i'm also having issues getting cwm to work outside the black screen. i have tried sense/ no sense roms and none have been able to bring up cwm outside the blank screen. i am also running 3.0.0.6 or whatever it is but that has not helped my issue

[Q] Clockworkmod recovery not booting up
I have my phone rooted and ready to flash a custom ROM. I want to install android revolution 4g 4.0. I read that I need to ahve CWM version 3.0.0.6 to flash a 2.3 ROM. Anyways, when i select reboot into recovery in ROM Manager, my phone reboots and shows the HTC logo but then it fades to black screen and does nothing. If i press the power button, the phone reboots normally into the OS. Does anyone know how to fix this so i can install a custom ROM?
I have this exact same issue. Although i can load roms from choosing "Install from sd card" i cannot just boot into recovery and install it from there.
I just recently bought my inspire 4g a week ago.
Mine is 2 days old. Now i cant get it to boot up because it keeps trying to boot into CWM recovery but it cant. Its and endless loop.
Mine wont even load recovery. It reboots the phone but then just fades to a black screen. I cant get back into the OS

just press power button and it will reboot your phone.
still stuck doing that too. can get the phone to reboot. but stuck at htc screen or black cwm screen. also checked sd card and is corrupted. i was thinking if i could just flash a new rom over to fix boot issue. but i need some screens to blindly walk through to flash. cwm is 3.0.0.5 if that matters. thanks. on a side note. i think i have a new cm7rc2 build on a formated sd card to try and minimize the guess work on what to click

Are you saying that your phone shows the white HTC screen then fades to black?
if so, no, it doesn't matter...just press the power button to reboot your phone.
HELP, I THINK I BRICKED MY DEVICE!!!
I got the phone today, unlocked the bootloader, installed recovery and rooted my phone. After that I installed maximus v2.5. I accidentally rebooted system in recovery after (everything was still stock). I rebooted my phone into bootloader mode and flashed the boot.img file (latest). Then I rebooted in bootloader menu. My HTC boot animation showed up and I heard the regular sound, after that my screen went and stood black. I can't do anything now, when I press the power button my capacitive buttons flicker ,but nothing happens. Please help me!

From what you post it seems like you didn't flash the Rom just the boot IMG, what hboot are you on? What recovery do you have installed? More info on what you have on the phone would help a little quicker

Glad you got it working

That's my first post here in the One S forum and, unfortunately, not a happy one.
I used to have fun with modding a long time ago, with the HTC Desire, but when I bought the One S, I didn't even root it, until yesterday.
To unlock the bootloader and install the TWRP recovery I used the All-in-One toolkit; then I installed a MIUI v5 porting and updated to the latest version.
Not satisfied with it, this morning I decided to try Sense 5 with TrickDroid 10.3.2: I did a TWRP backup, wiped the necessary and installed the zip.
Now the phone is in an infinite loop.. that would be ok, but I can't get to fastboot or recovery.
The problem is that even before I wasn't able to get to fastboot with the button combo (even if I disabled fastboot in MIUI settings), and to access the recovery I used the command provided in the All-in-One toolkit.
I'm not able to use the All-in-One toolkit since the device can't be found while turning on.
So now I'm here with my phone vibrating every 30 seconds or so and that's a bit frustrating...
Do any of you know what to do?
If you need any further information just ask, and sorry for my English, I hope everything is clear.
Thank you in advance
Francesco
P.S.: It is the S4 version.

I'm now having the same problem: exactly I forgot to flash boot.img after flashing the rom, and my HTC One S now seems to be bricked.
Yesterday I could turn it on and go into HBOOT, but when I chose Recovery or Factory Reset it rebooted and after the HTC logo, a warning logo appeared. Now I cannot do anything with this.
Can you pls give me some advise or how I can fix this problem? Many thanks!:good:

That is not a brick lol
That warning logo isn't a big deal. Everyone who has unlocked their bootloader gets it. And seems like you have erased your recovery by selecting "Factory Reset".
1. Download All-In-One Tool kit for HTC One S from the Development forum.
2. Flash a custom recovery. TWRP recommended.
3. Boot into recovery, mount sd card, copy your rom.
4. Flash your ROM.
5. Boot into fastboot
6. flash boot.img
7. Restart :good:

Did you try to remove the SIM card? Mine was stuck in bootloop and only way it worked for me was to remove SIM card, press power button for 10 or more seconds and it eventually booted into bootloader. hope it work for you...
Please treat me as a total noob, my problem is this i installed the stock RUU Vodafone rom on my HTC One and everything went fine until i had a couple of phone updates ota first 2 installed and phone rebooted no problem on the 3rd system update the phone rebooted but this time on a boot loop where it would get as far as the HTC splash screen the continually reboot itself.
I have gone into recovery – hold power and Vol Down to go into recovery but when i do press the power button to go into recovery it just goes back to the boot loop i did have Clockworkmod installed on the phone but this seems to have stopped working.
I have tried to use fastboot and ADB but because my phone is looping it will not say on long enough to connect to the PC and run a command to wipe the cache.
My question mainly is there anything i can do to save my phone or should i just bin it.
Thanks

having some troubles with my vzw m8. i just got the phone, used sunshine to get s-off then downlaoded the twrp app to install the recovery.
since i was on stock and didnt have a super reboot menu, i powered down. did the vol down+power to get to the bootloader.
then chose recovery it gave me the device with the red ! sign. then i fiddled with the buttons and it went to TWRP. That seems funny to begin, but it gets better.
Now, i can't boot normally. it always goes to TWRP. any ideas?

I had a similar problem when I first S-Off'd and rooted my M8 with the firewater method, could only get the phone to boot into recovery. Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708628 and look for the section of the first post for -- *Unsecured Kernel --, try flashing that, it finally let me boot to the ROM and return to normal functionality.

you flashed it to the wrong partition..if so all you need to do is fastboot flash twrp an then reboot your recovery it will be twrp in the right place. Just restore a backup you made an you will be all set...if you have no backup..smh then load a ROM to your SD card via PC then do as above flash ROM of SD card an that will fix your issue.
