[Q] Touchpad/LCD - HTC Sensation

Hey guys,
Recently the soft keys on HTC sensation XE started malfunctioning. When i got the device checked, they told me that the touchpad will have to replaced. I went to several shops but I received conflicting opinions. Some say that the touchpad and LCD are a single assembly which will have to be all together replaced while others say that the touchpad can be individually replaced. I am confused since the cost becomes too high if i replace the whole thing along with the LCD that is. Does anybody know for sure what is the exact case? Can the touchpad be replaced separately without replacing the LCD?
Thank you

How to Figure out if touchscreen or LCD or both are broken?

Hello Friends,
yesterday when i saw the screen of my xda exec i saw a big black spot on the centre of the screen, not sure how it happened. i can still make calls from the phone.
but now i want to figure out whether i'll need to replace touchscreen or the LCD or both but i dont know how to figure out which one is broken.
Any help will be really appreciated on this.
Ashwani
Chances are
if the touch capability is intact, it's your LCD. The opposite, where the screen looks fine, but the touch is gone, would be your digitizer. However, unless you know how to replace a digitizer, I recommend getting both, LCD and a digitizer in one unit, rather than attempt to assemble the screen yourself. Which, judging by your question, is likely to be the case.

I would only iterate what enigma1nz had to say . It's at least your LCD at fault, but buy both as one unit. Or, buy a Uni that guarantees a working LCD+Touch pad (ie, a Uni with only a broken broken mobo/usb/doesn't boot etc) from eBay or the like.
First of all, I would just take the screen part of the Uni apart and check all is tight when replacing, as if the LCD has no obvious cracks, it's very likely a rubber-strip contact or similar.
NB. If anyone is interested in purchasing a fully-working Uni (brand new casing), with a non-functional touch/digitizer (guaranteed working everything else incl. LCD), I'm about to put on eBay. (PM me)

[Q] Broken LCD Glass :(

Anyone know where I can get a replacement LCD glass for my Desire HD
I believe it's just the glass as the screen seems to still work.
If there's a place in or around London that can replace it for me even better, if not anyone know how difficult it is to replace.
I've noticed a few places on Ebay (China/HK) selling digitizers and complete LCD's but ideally I want somewhere in the UK.
thanks
Elliot
Hi,
I went through a similar experience less than 2 weeks ago, you can even see images here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834335
I rang around several places, none could commit to using GENUINE HTC parts. The only people I found were: www.htcrepairs.co.uk/ - and they even offer a walk in service whereas I found most others did not.
Unfortunately they don't have the parts I require in stock, maybe you can try them.
At the moment, they're the only people I've found in the London area that I'd be willing to give my phone in to...
Did you have any luck with finding anyone else?
Maybe contacting HTC? They can probably repair it for you but it can be pretty expensive though.
Maybe you got some pics?
You could try, as said above, get the glass/screen from eBay.
Repaired my SE K800i with it, where the glass could easily be removed and the new one could be installed within 5minutes.
Don't know how the HTC will disassemble though.
I'm going to try this place on the way home from work: http://www.spsmobile.co.uk I'll let you know how they go. They've got the parts and will charge me £60 for either the lcd or digitzer including fitting.
Here's some pictures. I think they'll get away with just fixing the glass, although it looks bad the lcd still seems to work ok.
Can anyone recommend a case surround?

How did it go?
Did they fix it whilst you wait, or retain the device to work on for a day or two?
More importantly, are they using genuine HTC parts ?
They fix while you wait, they're near Staples Corner (which is a bit of a walk from the tube at Brent Cross).
I need to go back tonight as they messed up and thought I had a Desire and not a HD, they're hoping to get the HD part in today, they're charging me the Desire price.
According to their website they use official parts, but who knows.
Warranty

* Every warranty handset is security sealed. Tampering with the security seal will void the warranty LCD / SCREEN warranty. We fit original screens only and they are security labeled
* Every handset is tested for 24 hours and comes with engineers report
I plan to visit these SPS guys tonight. Lets hope they manage to fix my phone.
I'm hoping to wait around so I can ensure genuine parts are used...
SPS didn't manage to get a Desire HD digitizer for me, they've got 1 on order. They're a little difficult to find (at least they were in the dark) they're behind Staples industrial state, in room 207, small little office. They seemed ok though they.

I'm back!
Got my Legend fixed earlier this evening by these guys: http://www.spsmobile.co.uk/
They were one of few who were adament they use genuine parts [they allowed me to inspect the parts before installation] AND allowed me to wait whilst they work on it.
Abolutely disgusting/poor customer service and general attitute towards their customers... though the main thing is my Legend is all well again !
Oh, it cost £70 for display + digitizer + installation.

Thanks but I do not see a complete teardown guide yet. Looks like the guys on the other thread are working on it but nothing detailed enough. I need to know how to replace the digitizer, looks like not body knows how to do it yet.

[Q] HTC HD2 digitizer replacement problem.

I'm new here and apologize for my english.
From the beginning then.I had my hd2 for about 2 months.I didn't like the sound loudness so taught i replace the loudspeaker. After putting it together digitizer didn't work.I noticed a very small crack in the digitizer so i taught that is the problem but wasn't sure and am still not cause i have seen digitizers with many cracks and still working.I ordered a new digitizer it wasn't the same that i had before cause this one has a T-Mobile logo on it but the connector is the same and it still doesn't work.
So, my questions are:
1)can it be that it's not digitizers problem?
2)Is there any difference what digitizer i use (with or without the T-mobile logo)?
I really don't want to waste anymore money on it (cause these digitizers are not cheap and i want to be sure) but i really want to fix it.Using Desire now but really miss my HD2 (except battery performance)
NB: I have looked around and found similar posts. But maybe someone has had same problem and can ensure this.

any one have the schematic?

so i recently purchased a used doubleshot to give to my fiance, her biggest deal about a phone seems to be the camera and her g2 just isnt cutting it. well im cheap and handy so i buy all my phones broken and just fix them.
i found this almost mint doubleshot for about $50 with the only problem being the internal speaker is shot. so this is should be a hardware fault most likely but to be safe i rooted it and gained radio s-off and flashed a few roms. definitely hardware. so i bought a speaker for $7 (should be here by weeks end) and looking around i see the main flex being sold with the internal speaker attached. this got me wondering if the speaker simply sits against the contact points (my experience on well every phone ive disassembled) or is it soldered or what?
i dont mind doing the extra effort but google has not explained to me what i should expect. i even called htc and of course got the id love to help but i just cant response. so if anyone has experience with this or can point me to a full breakdown (not just digitizer replacement as it skips this) i would be forever grateful. thanks!
Here is a guide to help aid you in the taking apart of a doubleshot.. I'm not sure what help it is, but this is all I can personally help you with as I haven't any experience with this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1586028

Send a message to jjbz. I traded my bricked DS for a working one with him and he said he's going to use my old one for parts.
Sent from Spaceball One.
The internal speaker is soldered down to the ribbon cable. If you are going to attempt to replace it yourself be vary careful of the light and proximity sensors. I fried the proximity sensor when I attempted to solder in a new speaker. After a month of dealing with the missing proximity sensor, I went with a new ribbon cable.

[Q] I'm a newbie, and my LCD Screen broke.

Hello Guys!
2 Weeks ago, someone sat over my tablet, and broke me LCD screen. Just the LCD.
I've read a lot about it, but i'm still confused. Is there any incompatible LCD, or it's just the Digitizer?
I live at Brazil, and need to import a new screen. My first shot need to be the correct one ($56 just for shipping!).
Also, what do you think about this screen? ebay.com/itm/US-OEM-Asus-Eee-Pad-Transformer-TF300-TF300T-LCD-Display-Replacement-Parts-Rev1-/151041644182[/url]

So far as I can tell, it's only the digitizer that's giving problems. I haven't heard anyone complain about the LCD compatibility. If n doubt, you should choose a vendor that accepts returns. They may charge a bit more, but for your peace of mind I think it's a few bucks well spent.
