Hi all,
The desire S WiFi is supposed to be b/g/n but my link speed has never reached over 52mbps (g speed) even sitting next to the router.
I have a netgear cable n class router.
Has anybody reached n speed? How?
Oh I use custom Roms currently on iceds atm, never did get good WiFi from the start (original firmware)

I purchased a Rokland N3 hoping to increase wifi signal strength. I have seen it work with earlier android versions (1.9) But when I connect to the dock USB port, it lights up but does not connect.
Has anyone had success with any wifi adapter?
Thanks

hi,
I am looking to buy a xoom 32gig tomorrow but my only issue is the 3G. Do i need the 3G one or can one use a use dongle?
I don't think there are any working fixes to get a 3G dongle on the Xoom but depending on which phone you have you can tether it and use the phone's connection. I use an app called OpenGarden on my Desire HD.

great, i have a desire HD myself so that was something i was think about.
i take it the sdcard works now as well?
If you have the Desire HD why do you need any app? Just start the mobile wi-fi surfpoint under settings? You get you 3G data connection shared as a wi-fi accesspoint.

Doesn't work for me. The Xoom connects to the wifi point but doesn't get out to the internet. Could be the custom rom on the phone tho.

Hi there,
i just got my TF300T and i'm quite happy with it (coming from LG Optimus Pad it's no wonder ).
But i have one question/issue where i can't find an answer for:
I have a Netgear Router which is capable of using 2,4Ghz and 5Ghz Wifi simultaniously. Now i can connect my Transformer with the 2,4Ghz without any issues and everything works fine. But if i have a look into the Wifi list on my Transformer i can see the 5Ghz connection but it alway states that it's out of reach.
Is the Transformer Pad capable of using 5Ghz connections or not? If yes, what is wrong with my pad?
Thanks for any replies

I dont even see the 5Ghz option in my wifi list. I don't think its capable but I wish it was. I have a toggle in the wifi settings on my gnexus so I connect that to my 5Ghz.
No......
Yeah no 5ghz

Cool, I guess I will skip tf300 then.
Can't believe there is no 5G WiFi support - even iPad1 has it.

Do you have more than 30mbit Internet connection? What is it that your doing that needs that much speed? The range on 5ghz is lower... I'm curious.

1080p movie streaming locally for one. I'm kinda pissed there's not 5ghz support for that alone.
actually a very very very small percentage of tablets have that support. The main accepted one is the 2.4Ghz band.

Well, for fast transferring of files, HDTV streaming, etc.
I watch 1080p with no problem... I just copy it to my 32gig sd card or use wifi file explorer pro and copy it to the internal storage... I get around 4.5 megabytes a sec transfer...

Good evening:
I was just wondering where you were going with this post. How do I unlock a bootloader and install a custom kernel (whatever that is)?
Definite newbie with tablets. Be gentle!

I have a fiber optic internet connection at home and on my desktop PC I get download speeds of 80mbps+ however when I do a speed test on my note 10.1 I am lucky to get a downspeed on 3mbps. Does anyone have any ideas why this is and how to improve it?
I am in the UK and have the N8010 model.
Many thanks.
Its likely something with your router. Check the signal strength and channel.maybe a firmware upgrade on the router .are you connection to a/b/g/n all of the above will effect speeds and reliability.
Also is your PC hard wired.? If so you know it will be much faster there is far less overhead data tagging along.I do not think its the device
Good luck

Thanks for the response. My router in running on Wireless N. Yes my PC is hard wired however im still getting at least a 50mbps downspeed on my Windows laptop via the wireless. I just figure it's something to do with the network card inside the Note?
I do have some problems connecting to certain networks with my tablet as well. Maybe there's some problem with wifi drivers in the galaxy note I'm guessing. Hopefully it'll be fixed in JB.

One thing you can try is changing the encryption and/or privacy standard (WEP and so on) since some of them isn't supported by "dumb" devices and I suspect some of them are supported but are so advanced it affects the performance.

Hi,
I had the same issue.
I solved setting the ip address to static (not dhcp) in wifi settings.
Now i get 20 mbits+ (consistent with my G router capabilities)

Go to settings.
Select wifi
Long press on your connection.
Press modify connection
Now select ip settings and change to static
Now change your IP to an address outside of dhcp range and your done.
If dhcp is 192.168.1.2 through 192.168.1.100 set your tab to 192.168.1.101
You can also change your routers dhcp range to 192.168.1.2 through 192.168.1.15 and set your tab to ..16
Your numbers may be different, but same method.

As I see its probably too late but I`ll still share my experience. The max 3G speed that I managed to get as throughput to my laptop was around 7 megabits/s which is around 0.9 megabytes/s. That was with wifi hotspot option.
I never tried the variant with through the usb.
I got 1.1 mb/second while using youtube
