Hi there;
I've recently gotten roped into developing a piece of software for android devices; I've been instructed to make it possible to send messages (Message Boxes) to mobile devices which are separate from MMS and SMS; For security purposes we have had built a small Android distribution for the devices allowing GPS, Calls and GPRS Data BUT NO SMS/MMS! (I think Bluetooth is supported; but at the distances that we work at; it would be irrelevant)
So far I've been able to program the devices to show the messages when connected to the Bridge; Is it at all possible to send a piece of DATA that will allow the Phone to display a message; Much like the "Battery Low" messages with an "OK" button/option but with a custom message?
Thanks :good:

Hey guys I know it can be done because the Tmobile wing has the capability of doing it. i am looking for the version of aim or the cab of a client that will allow me to have my phone connected to wifi or gprs(preferebly wifi) send an IM to a cell phone as an SMS.
I have tried different verssionns of msn messanger, live messanger, agile, IM+, and aim OZ pocket PC. the closest I have come to this was through AIM I can text from my laptop to a SMS on a phone but have not been able to get the condenseed Buddylist that lacks mobile devices to download on to my wizard from the internet.
any help is appreciated!
if you already have aim on your wizard all you to do is send a message to the cell phone by adding a plus and the number for example in the to field you would have +16278286252 and this will send the IM as SMS to the person.
thats correct if was on my laptop. On the AIm thats on my phone i get "Previous message not recieved by +16278286252 because of error: User+16278286252 not available" when I attempt to text someone. The numbers/contacts that are on my buddy list appear as PleaseUpgrade000 and .
Im testing with a phone phone that is available and is recieving texts from the same aim account from the laptop
Does anyone know of any apps that allow you to send and receive text messages through your phone with your computer? I know that PDA Net has the ability but it isn't compatible with Mac OSX. I am looking for something dedicated to text messages. I know I can do this with a VNC to my phone but that kind of thing is too laggy and slow.
Thanks!
Hi,
The greatest App there is right now is smshare
You have to install this app on your Android phone, and the smshare Extension on your Chrome Browser.
Then you can type your SMS in the Chrome-Extension, and then the SMS will be sent to your phone, which then sends them as normal SMS. No Wifi hassels, and really comfortable and fast.
A new feature of smshare is that your incoming sms can be forwarded to your email account - so you don't even need to touch your phone for communication via SMS.
Another way is to use the Wifi SMS Apps.
On these kind of Apps (like for example RemoteSMS) you have to connect your phone to the same Wlan as your Computer, start the App on the Phone, and then you can log into an Webinterface with your Browser and compose the SMS there which then are sent from your phone.
The problem with smshare is that it uses a third party server so if privacy is a concern, then remotesms is much better. I use remotesms and u can actually connect via WLAN, usb or Bluetooth and it's a direct connection so no privacy concerns. Works brilliantly.
Much thanks for both of your for your replies. This is exactly what I was looking for!
SMS2PC gets my vote. Lovely simple interface!
Gofer is a secure text messenger offering complete message privacy and security. Gofer messages are short radio messages. They don't need internet connection to be transmitted. Upon reaching your friend's phone, it dissapears after the first read. It can also work in stealth mode by hiding the sender details and contact information in the alerts.
Check out Gofer from Google Play.
I am hunting for an android app (preferably open source) (function similar to watsapp) that allows me to send a message to a phone (using phone number) (not SMS, but just IP) (a broken IP) even if the receiving end does not have the app installed on his phone. Since there wont be any application to handle it and the message can be discarded in the IP stack itself.
Tried with TextSecure but it requires the app to be installed on both sides.
Does anyone knew if such an app exists. Kindly suggest me.
Hi,
After transferring my sim card from an iphone to an android phone, i did not receive any sms coming from iphones (while I received those from android or windows phones).
I read that this was due du Imessages format (when a messsage is sent between two iphones). It appears that my phone nb was considered by the emetting phone as an Iphone nb. This is confirmed by the fact that the color message on the emitting Iphone was blue (it should have been green if sent to a non apple phone).
Then, I went to the Apple web site (https://selfsolve.apple.com/deregister-imessage ) to deregister my phone nb. After I followed the procedure, I received a confirmation message indicating that my number had been deregistred ; but even after restarting my phone, I still cannot receive text messages from Iphones.
Does anyone have an idea of what I could do to fix the problem ???
Many thanks in advance.
Bruno
Hi !
If you`re trying to receive messages from an Iphone and the sender is using the Imessage service then that`s an Apple interconnectivity and I guess it doesn`t work , both shold be on imessage
Try to contact Apple support , they may have blacklisted your number
