Some other voice assistants you might be interested in:
Iris - pretty good, has been around the longest of these 3, I believe. Not my first choice though
Utter! - very good. It runs in the background (keeps a notification in the status bar) so it's quick to respond when you open it.
Maluuba - my favorite. More of an all around Google Now alternative than simply a voice assistant (it actually doesn't respond in speech yet, but I think that's planned), it gives the most info and has the best looking interface. It also lets you type in questions and stuff, which is often useful. Technical questions will return a WolframAlpha response.
Sorry about the lack of links, 10 posts and all that. They're available on the Play Store though.

Here in Holland we have to pay to listen to our voicemail messages.
I was wondering if there is an app that does the following:
Auto picksup after 15-20 secs, then plays a message + beep, and then records a message on your phone locally.
This would save me alot of cash.
So does anyone knows an app like this?
Thanks!
I have recently started using Tasker. It can completely (almost) automatically. It can auto answer calls, play files and record calls. It can be fiddly, but is powerful and should do what you want (and more).

Hmm, it's kind of pricy.
I would like to try if this program offers what I want before I pay this much for it

Sounds great, but not available in my country yet
Google Voice is not available in your country.
Thanks for visiting Google Voice. We're not yet open for users outside the US, but are planning to expand our service to additional countries in the future.
That blows, is your phone rooted?

could i get an example of why its so cool? I installed it and took a look at it and it just looked like a regular keyboard with a skin.
thanks.
I like it because to me it has great word prediction. When the settings are on rapid, and I can just tap away and not really worry about what I pressed, because it usually knows what I'm trying to type out. I haven't had much luck with my large fingers and any other keyboards. It also learn from your sms, facebook, and twitter.

No Swype = non-starter.
I liked it at first until it made ntt phone really slow. At some times it used more ram than android os.

No longer free so I'm closing this before people start whining about missing the offer and asking for apks...
Hopefully this is something I've overlooked. I've searched but couldn't find much. I have the wired headphones and when I use the long press it opens up the default music player. I planned to use this in the car and would rather it open voice search. Is this possible to change? Is it a different press...3 shorts or something? Using stock rom.
Use an app...

As strychninetwitch said, app...as simple as googling it here ya go seems to be the easy way.
I did Google but couldn't definitively find if I could do it on stock rom or not. I thought maybe there were some buried settings or someone would pipe up and say to upgrade to gb. I guess not. It looks like maybe you can with BT headset. Thanks for the link.

I'm on GB right now and searched all through settings,no good. I'm sure you could with a BT with multiple buttons..
Thanks for checking. Your link doesn't work. At least not on the phone. I searched for kober in the market and found it though. Made it launch voice search so that worked. I haven't explored much further.

Well it was a link to the android market website, so that's why. From what I read the button settings are changeable to your liking...
Yea. The search is working. Now just have to figure out how to reactivate voice/mic if I pause while speaking during a text.
I think your link is busted due to double http:
It starts

Does the screen brightness short cut not work. Also it hangs sometimes when I use the network. Like market or file upload or Internet. It acts like its loading but a simple back and restart and it works. Thoughts? Where do I post issues with it. Also my defaults refresh sometimes.

Also is there a short cut way to quit a app not just minimize. With out task manager and force close. Like a quit button.

lol....someone needs to lay off the pipe.
calm down and go to the ROM thread to get your questions answered

sounds like you could also benefit from learning basic ANDROID usage, not necessarily directly related to the skyrocket....
Hard to use the phone to get info. I'm learning. Trying to. Also I don't use drugs. Not nice say that. Thanks for the info though. Not the pipe comment. Lol. I will read up best I can on the phone. Will have a computer Monday then be easy

Lol. More the issue is taking one problem at a time.
And when asking for help, making your request easy to understand.
Otherwise it can seem......overwhelming
So pick one issue, do a google search, and if you still don't understand, come back here with what you found and we'll help you as much as we can.

Just thought I'd let you folks know about Contacts+ , the contacts app I'm using on my stock now.
It is totally packed with features (chiefly, integration with social networks, WhatsApp integration and smart ordering), looks absolutely lovely, and just elevates the Android experience when using a smartphone.
As an added bonus, it pimps out your SMS and call log appearance and functionality as well.

I've tried it before. It works good with finding contact information in notes but I haven't used the apk in forever.
I hate to be a troll but you posted in the wrong section. Lol.
