I was using OrDroid(ICS) on my HTC Sensation 4g for about a month and a half and I started getting random rainbow static screens. All the time. When I screen off and try to turn the screen back on, all I see is the rainbow static. I try to reboot and none of my boot animations show up or anything. Then once the phone actually loads the OS, I get the rainbow screen again. So, I wiped everything clean and flashed Paranoid Dragun(Jellybean) and it seemed to have gotten rid of the problem for about 18 hours and then I started getting the rainbow screen again. I've tried pulling the battery and booting into recovery and fastboot to no avail. Is this a hardware issue? What can I do to get rid of this problem?

Howdy,
I noticed on my phone that my screen locker looked wierd so i soft reset the phone then played a game of madden and looked down at my phone and it was at the orange windows boot screen hung up at it. I soft rest again then it would flake out at the verizon splash screen i soft reset a bunch of times and still the same results. I yanked the battery and let it sit for an hour and still nothing i replaced the battery and nothing.
So i proceeded to go into bootloader and hooked it to pc and reflashed with the stock MR2 verizon rom and now its hung up on the white htc screen with the red writing at the bottom.
Only thing done to the phone was HArd-SPL a week or 2 ago with no rom flashes after was on the stock rom.
Ive searched the topic also and am thinking i might have to do a task 29?
ATM im going to try and flash the first stock VZW rom and see where that goes but likely same outcome.
so do i have a brick or is there a fancy way to get it working?
got it working with the MR1 update so im good
So, I have a messed up sensation, reboots itself, not randomly, but when you turn the screen off, or after flashing a new rom for first five minutes until you finish initial set up. Everything works, except bluetooth or wifi. So, it does not restarts, if you charge it, or leave screen on, or you use it until the battery dies. Tried a new battery, no luck. Tried different roms, no luck. And my question is, is there like system log? And can a phone detect that it has a smashed screen and digitizer and restart itself? Yes, the screen is smashed DD Thanks

It seems that you have hw probelms... Maybe you could have damaged some other parts of the phone...

Well, I have taken it apart, everything is fine inside. And I think it would not function at all if something serious was damaged. Just now i finished flashing an ics without sense. It does not reboot for bit longer. You can drain the batt by using it with screen on. Just finished it off with shadowgun. Now I can see an error that appears, but if you charging, it just goes on after you press ok, if you are using it, same thing, but if it happens when screen, restart. com.android.phone stops working, and phone reboots.
My HTC was working fine yesterday until it froze at one point and it wouldn't respond to any buttons including the lock button (which has never happened before except occasionally during incoming calls). I did a battery pull and at first it would only vibrate and remain a black screen, though I could see that it did light dimly when I pressed the power button. After about 20 battery pull attempts it went back to showing the splash and screen and the phone turned on succesfully. After about 10 minutes it froze again, I did a battery pull and now it only showed the splash screen and froze, occasionally showing a red light in the top left corner. My phone was already on low battery so this process went on for another 25 minutes or so (vibrate + screen, freezing on splash screen, or booting then freezing) until I gave up. I came home and charged it overnight while it was off, and it was fully charged this morning, but now it won't turn on at all, it only vibrates once with the screen lighting very dim for a moment then just has a black screen.
I've been searching for a solution for the last 3 hours, seems it could be a range of things but nothing I've tried has worked. I'd appreciate the help, I already spent £90 on getting the screen repaired a couple weeks ago, I don't really want to spend more especially if for some reason HTC decide it can't be repaired under warranty.
Are you s-off and running a custom Rom? It so can you provide details on Rom, kernel and firmware?
There were threads a few weeks back about sensations randomly dying.
Thanks
s-off?
No I'm not running custom ROM.
Came acrosss a few other threads with similar threads but my problem seems to be a combination of everyone else's problems, so I'm a bit lost
are you under warentee? Your stock so there should be no reason at all for HTC to deny your warentee. I'm curious, have you tried to put a different battery in? To see if possibly your battery has gone bad? Worth a try? Even though it says full charge maybe its gone bad? Wouldn't hurt to try. If not and new battery won't work I'd definitely look into warentee repair. You have not altered your device so they definitely should honnor repair.

Ok, so I searched around but couldn't find a fitting situational thread.. so forgive me if this already exists.. geh doch..
I rooted my sensation using teamwin, and installing PG581img...however when I decided to download a ROM I picked android revolution 6.6.7. well I wiped it clean at first and then downloaded the 667..and as I rebooted i got stuck on the boot screen HTC quietly brilliant... well I kept trying to boot past, fairly certain I hadn't bricked my device because I could still get to the fastboot menu.. well all of a sudden it went dark during a reboot..I assumed it was due to the low battery so I plugged him back in and watched in horror as the phone tried to boot. All it did was light up to a slightly darker screen than the off screen..so from a pitch black to a grey..and would stay in that mode for 3 seconds then shut off. I also noticed that the charge light would come on blink until the grey screen had blacked out then, itself, go dark. Am I screwed?

Charge the phone for 5-6 hrs continuously.. Then try to boot it up..
Sent from my pyramid.. Through blazing fast sonic waves
I let it sit overnight and tried to boot it..it did not.
The charge light is still not staying on, but I noticed it did blink continuously for about a minute before going off again..
could it be my battery? There was a period when while trying to install Android Revolution it would get stuck on a boot screen and I would take the battery out..multiple times..

idk ..having battery issues during firmware flashing is dangerous
try different battery and see
My rooted HTC Inspire with existz's aospX MR1 ROM will no longer boot. Whenever I press the power button to turn it on, it vibrates shortly 5 times. followed by 10 long vibrations, and the LED stays a constant green. The screen stays black and never loads anything the whole time. I cannot access hboot or recovery, so wiping the phone from the phone isn't an option. Before this started happening, my phone was working fine, but suddenly started opening random apps and gestures, so I figured a reboot would correct the problem. Can anybody help? I've read somewhere that this is a hardware issue, but I'm hoping it's just software
My guess is hardware. Something is failing during boot and the vibrations are probably some sort of error sequence that HTC only knows. The touch screen probably needs to be replaced. You could try using adb commands after the vibrations but if the screen is doing nothing I'm sure its screen related. Any other failure would at least show the white HTC screen.
