Just got my SNS yesterday and i got an issue, donno if it happens on others nexus s tho.. by the way this is the i9023 sclcd version.
The touch screen is responsive, but there's a little delay everytime i touch the screen, so like when i use the keyboard, and i press a character, the popup magnifying thing doesn't come out immediately, instead its delayed to like 0.2 seconds after i pressed a character..
Overall its just like a little bit delay everytime i touch the screen such as swiping home screens, its delayed to like 0.1 to 0.2 seconds which looks like awkward, especially when typing with the keyboard it makes the keyboard very inaccurate to type, and uncomfortable.
Anyone having this problem? I've rooted and flashed cm7 and the problem still exists..
i also have a i9023 with the same problems, typing is a mess compared with my last phone (Xperia X10) ... i hope that it is no hardware problem
No responiveness issues here. Maybe you should try a few factory resets before sending it back.
I think its a hardware problem because i've flashed cm7 and miui the problem still exists.
Anyone else having i9023 and does not have this issue? If most people don't have the issue i will request for an exchange for a new i9023, but if this issue is common on i9023 i might just exchange for an i9020.
But i've wiped all date and cache and dalvik, do i still need to try a factory reset?

I would suggest you do, it seems to fix a variety of issues if you're lucky. Backup your data and try it.
How come whenever i try to do a factory reset it goes into clorkwork and gives me an exclamation mark with the android guy?
No responsiveness issues here either.
Alright, i think i will just go ahead and get a new replacement.
Anyone having the issue? Because i bought it off ebay, so i requested for a replacement, but the seller dude from Hong Kong, saying that if they received the phone, tested and everything is working fine, they will charge me for 10% restock charge and AUD$20 shipping fees, and i checked the Australia Post Calculator, it needs AUD$19 to ship the phone back for a replacement, so i think its not really worth it.. Since i received the phone yesterday and from the moment i turned on the phone i found this touch delay thing, so it's kinda defective, and i think they should pay the fees for me to ship the phone back for replacement.
Anyways, is there a rom that i can flash to go back to "out of the box" rom and settings so i can send it back? Thanks.

Thanks for that, is there anyone else having the touch delay issue? If you do please say so, because i am giving this post to the seller as a reference, thanks.
No delay on my i9023.

Thanks bro.
Just did a little test, in app drawer, swipe up/down hard til the end. When i swiped and released my finger, the delay before the whole app drawer moves is pretty obvious, it was like 0.3 seconds after i release my finger.
I think i should return and get a new one.
Nope. It shouln't be like that. I hadn't have any problems like this on my i9023. Or on i9020.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZuS-4swZmw
Take a look at 0:35 - 0:40, its almost identical on my nexus s.
It just feels sluggish.
ive got the same issue.. too much of a hassle to return the phone though
I'm also seeing this.
I've been using a nexus one for a year and last week I got a new nexus s (slcd, that is, i9023). I noticed the screen delay right away. Here's a video I just took, sorry for the out of focus thing, the camera I used has a fixed lens, but you can see the problem perfectly anyway. If you watch it frame by frame (i think you'd have to download it for that, youtube player is too simple) it is VERY clear.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_YsFhBZXPs
The phones have exactly the same settings and apps (google backup rocks) and both are stock, GRJ22. I can assure you both my fingers tap at the same time.
I also noticed the N1 picks up much shorter touches, with the Nexus S I have to keep my fingers longer for the taps to register.
Hey,
So last night my Sensation was on charge when I received an email. When I tried to unlock the phone the screen didn't activate but the lights for the buttons at the bottom did. I tried a few times but was unsuccessful, though luckily a hard reset seemingly fixed the problem.
Has anyone else had this issue? I've already contacted Orange and they said they'll replace the handset.
I recorded a quick (and pretty poor quality ) video on my old BlackBerry that I might try and put up on youtube later.
probobly the launcher is loading or force closed. im not sure though, it happened to me too
Happened to me once so far
Hm, probably something that will be fixed in a future update then?... Still, might get a new handset anyway - I may see some improvements in battery at least.
This tablet is a great piece of tech, however I've had two major problems with it. AMOLED screen burn-in and random reboots/shut-downs.
In the past week it's at least turned itself off or rebooted itself 9 times. Is anyone receiving this problem? Also in the past 3 hours or so, it's been rebooting to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 screen just before the tab turns on and gets stuck there. I managed to get out of that situation but I'm not sure how.
If you have problems list which version of the tablet you have, your firmware or kernel version and your specific problem.
Hopefully we can get Samsung's attention if theres enough people and have this patched with an update. Or maybe it'll all go away with ICS... just being optimistic lol.
If anyone knows any sort of customer service or someone from Samsung I can email about this problem that'd be appreciated.

I don't have the problem but if I can maybe suggest, have you reset the device back into factory setting?
Your not the first one to ask this nor your alone, this also happens with the Galaxy Note with some users, I've never been able to pinpoint the cause for this on the note.. I'll see if it happens on my Tab7.7 when I get it tomorrow.
Do you by any chance have a sim card inserted? I noticed yesterday as I was working with AT&T to get my device set up that each time I had to take my sim card out (to give them the serial number) the Tab would reboot on its own.
I have had 2 reboots since getting my tab, very weird.

We need more people to chime in and see how wide spread this issue is, it could be cause by a very aggressive deep sleep state that is used by samsung?

I thought that factory resetting it would help but as far as I can tell it hasn't. I tried that about a week ago but am willing to give it another shot if someone proves me wrong. Thanks for the input though.

I have the wifi version so I don't have a sim slot. Sorry for not being more specific in the opening. Although I remember someone else mentioning that their sim may have been the problem. Thanks anyway.

Maybe something with the processor, they're relatively similar aren't they? Anyway hopefully I didn't discourage you from your tab, it's still one of the best pieces of tech. Lets hope this problem isn't that widespread and if it is lets hope for a patch or something, maybe with the ICS update hehe.
Have had my GT-P6800 for about a month and I have had several random reboots -- since the reboot is complete and I end up where I was I cannot determine what's behind it.
Haven't had reboots, but I've ran into issues with it turning itself off at least once a week. Currently on LA2 firmware.
I had about 4-5 reboots in a week . don't remember details .
Is everyone using 3G card that are having reboots? I did NOT have any reboots until getting a 3G card this weekend. It JUST did it. Also, I notice if it's on charger (not USB) that when it's full it will more likely reboot. That's my $.02.

yep, my tab prompted me to update as well, I it yes, it downloaded something over wifi, then it rebooted, then it goes to recovery and installed the new stuffs, then said "failed" lol
I only have one crash that is when I used the cam then hurriedly hit back several times, then it froze and rebooted, that's the only time it did it
I've structured the OP a bit better hopefully. I've provided my details and asked people for theirs.
Going to go look for who to complain to now lol.
No reboots yet but I did see it wake up to the lock screen while it was sitting on my desk, I have it in flight mode if it matters. It was actually spooky..
Ok I just had the sleep of death on my Tab7.7
Airplane mode but wifi is enabled, the last thing that I was doing was watching a movie and locked the tablet to take a phone call on my other phone. No SIMcard inserted only a 32GB microSD card.
Hi all.
Got my tab 7.7 3G about 3 weeks ago. Rooted on day 2 (this is my 4th droid so pretty confident doing so.... but...) using the simple root method posted somewhere here in XDA.
Not sure if this is related to the rooting, but I've had about 6-8 reboots, several shutdowns and one really strange rebooting which led to the tab unresponsive to anything (only showed the samsung name logo). I was about to factory reset again (I did about a week ago but only because I forgot to reboot after I rooted) when the tab suddenly woke up and started booting normally.
Normally until apps started loading and for almost all the apps, errors of some kind started popping up.
Since I had control again, I factory-resetted the tab.
Since then, I've had no reboots or shutdowns. I do not know why.
Other strange quirks - sometimes, when waking the device with a quick push of the power switch, the screen does this strange graphic swirly thing (almost seems like a graphic image gone mad while loading) and then loads the proper graphic/lock screen.
Sometimes too, when changing orientation, the graphic seems to lag behind the action. Not all the time though. I use Go Launcher as my default but I've noticed the TW screen do the same thing when I change orientation.
As far as Go launcher is concerned (I use it as well on my GS2), only the dock seems to have a problem - when flicking from one dock to another, the next dock does not 'center'.
So far I am a bit disappointed and hoping (hugely) that ICS releases this tab to its dual core, SAmoled glory.
Edit - if I were to say which was the biggest disappointment, that would be the media rescan. When I have a new photo or image, the image does not appear right away in Gallery. When I try to use the music player, the player will not load (rescanning) but the image appears in gallery after.

Hm, mines rooted too. I wonder if that affects how often you get a reboot/shut-down? Still, it better get fixed with an update.
Btw, don't use this tablet as an alarm. I woke up half an hour late to find that the tab was off. I turned it on and the battery was at 60% so it definitely wasn't the battery running out. Maaan was I late for school lol.
tab 7.7
I have the same problem especially when watching the movie or downing torrents after the screen shutdown especially when the battery over 50%. when I want to switch on the screen, the tab will not response until long press on power button switch on with galaxy tab 7.7 screen. that means it was shut off !
My Transformer has the same issues as everyone else; it's extremely laggy, apps crash, etc. But I also have this thing where every once in a while, if I click on something, my screen will go white with a line at the bottom and freeze. I have to restart the tablet to get it working again. I read through a lot of different threads and couldn't find anything. Is anyone else experiencing this?
I can't find any causes/solutions online. Any ideas?

I've had the same issue but haven't seen it in a couple days. I was told to cold boot it to solve the problem. After doing that, I haven't seen it again, but I haven't used it as much.
I am having the same issue. Started last night. Froze up first then a bit later went to white screen then rebooted. Today it froze up again...no white screen this time but could not access settings...the icon for settings was there but nothing else. Happen after reboot again...shut it down after that till now. Had been working fine. UPDATE is needed badly...I also have the Acer a700, that has been great so far...much better than this one.
Happened once to me too, i rebooted, and it has not happened since.

Haven't had the white screen return yet but I have had a recurring issue with freezing. Tablet was working last night when I put it down...this morning there was no internet connection. Went to settings to turn on wifi and it froze, just like before, only the settings logo and the word settings were visible. Received a message about the program not responding, my options were to close down or wait for program. When I got the white screen before it happened just as described above.
Here is the thing, installed the 9.4.5.26 20120720 firmware update earlier last night...I was hoping that was the fix for this issue but no such luck.

I had a freezing issue only once.
I installed and used an app that ran in compatibility mode.
It started portrait and I think there was no landscape mode at all.
But I tried to turn the tab for that mode and that was that...
Crashed.
So maybe check for running apps that are not compatible ?
My unit had a burning smell come out of the speaker. Memory has been running consistently high 560 - 690 ram. Now I just got the "white screen of death".
Unit is going back for a replacement.
I have been having the same problem. The past couple of freezes occurred whil using google chrome. I have decided to send it back for a refund (thank you Amazon!)
Too bad, I had anticipated the arrival of this tablet for so long.
I returned my first one for tv snow but i did notice that you can wait it out 15seconds or so. Its almost like it is coming out of a deep sleep coma

Decided to send mine back today (froze again)... who knows how long before I get a replacement...I hope it has no issues or it will go back again and I will get another a700... which has been working great. Sucks because I have to suck up the cost of the screen protector...and buy another.

Worst purchase ever!
I really like Andoid, I currently have a Galaxy S3 phone and I don't have any problems. I really wanted an Android tablet and with the higher resolution the Infinity seemed like the one to get. I have had it for a month and I think this purchase is one of the worst I ever made. With the keyboard and accessories I have around $1000 invested in a tablet that only works part time. It crashes at least once a day while doing different tasks. Just now it was just sitting there on the locked screen and the screen went to all white. Holding the power button didn't do any good and I had to use the reset button. I feel like I wasted my money and I don't know if I should avoid Asus products or if Android tablets suck, the problem might even be with Jelly Bean. I don't like Apple at all but I really wish I had bought an iPad.
this has happened to me three times in the last day, and each time while i tried to play an MP3 and read a Kobo book at the same time. (don't get me started on why a $500 tablet can't play music and display text AT THE SAME TIME. what the hell).
i'd start the track, load up kobo, and BOOM: white screen. i think i know why: all my music was in internal storage. for the hell of it, i moved all my tunes to the microSD card. and no more white screen, i can read and listen to tunes at the same time.
go figure.

I've been having this happen a lot. Essentially, I have two things happen:
1. In some app (Firefox, Redfin (we're house hunting), etc) and click something. Tablet freezes. Click something again, and it resets. The next thing you see is the black screen w/ Asus logo.
2. Same as above, but first you get a full white screen for ~10 seconds. THEN it reboots and you see the black screen w/ Asus logo.
It happens at least once an hour under heavy use of the tablet (lots of app switching, browsing the web, etc).
I have:
1. Cold booted.
2. Upgraded to JB.
3. After upgrading to JB, I reset cache and everything *multiple* times before installing all new apps.
Is this a known issue, or are the few people complaining about it just F'd?
I am seeing this too. Not sure what else to do with this issue?, Exchange? I want to believe this is software, but where does that leave me?

I have this issue under Jelly Bean, but never had it happen under ICS. If you are in the same boat, an exchange will likely not help. Your best bet is either to put on a different firmware, or get a different unit all together (ie, not Asus).

The problem is that Asus decided to use a cheap nand chip that has slow i/o speeds which causes the lag. It's not a problem with android. Have a look at a note 10.1 if you want to see a lag free tablet.
Still, I flashed a new rom, and its much improved. And no white screens so far with a few hours of use.
White screen is a known issue with JB, it's not hardware issue. We just have to wait for another update from Asus. They promised to release a new one soon to address, keyboard, wifi and camera issues, but did not mention about white screen issue. We just have to wait and see. If white screen issue is bothering you too much, just down grade back to .30.

Hello XDA,
My Nexus 5 running CM12 5.0.2 nightly will not respond to the touches anymore infact when I press the power button to activate the display it acts as if someone is touching it randomly messing all the apps that are running and opening and closing many other things.
Furthermore it displays weird and burned lines throughout the screen. It was not dropped, no water went inside the device or anything. If it helps I did install the OTA updates that CM gives us.
I have also attached pictures so you may get a better understanding of my problem.
Thanks in advance.

Hmm I see. Well since a month HAS passed, its definetly not the rom thats causing the problem, i don't know if anything regarding the software could even be causing the problem. Its 100% hardware and by that i mean the screen, you should change it, the touch and also the display are messed up.

I hate to be the bringer of bad news - but your screen is toast. Fortunately you can replace the touch and display components all at once.
http://www.amazon.com/Skiliwah-Digitizer-Assembly-Google-nexus5/dp/B00HN0U168
Here is what you need to perform the repairs - and here are the procedures for disassembly.
https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Disassembling+Nexus+5+Display+Teardown+-+liquid+damage/32410
Trust me, it's not that difficult. Unfortunately, it's a bit pricey ($60 for the screen and digitizer), nevertheless much cheaper than a new device or sending your device in for repairs.
Rma
Problem Solved
The screen isn't toast, neither is the digitizer. I have 2 of these phones. The parts which cause problems like this are the main board and the ribbon with the USB connector on it, which also attaches the screen & digitizer to the main board. One was showing lines exactly like this, & also no touch. I put a replacement main board in. Works great now. The other, wouldn't even turn on. I put the main board from the first phone in the second one, it still wouldn't turn on. I replaced the ribbon cable, it turns on and perfectly replicates the issue from the first phone. So now, I have one fully functioning LG Nexus 5, and another which turns on with the same problem as yours. This is good, I started out with 2 of them that were useless to me. So, it appears that your display and touch issues are caused solely by a bad main board. A replacement main board costs somewhere around $75. After swapping stuff around, I have 2 bad main boards, 1 bad USB ribbon & 1 working phone of 2. Not bad, not bad at all.
