Thanks to tbriden for this thread, which is basicly this, I justed wanted to share this with you guys as well.
You can now backup and restore user data and apps using adb! You don't even need root, but I'm using it even though I have root because MyBackup doesn't seem to like Jelly Bean too much. Head over to the link above and check it out

I tried installing BBT Mobile Banking app from market.android.com, but it says "This item is not compatible with your Verizon Samsung xx".. I tried changing the name in build.prop to the fascinate (sch-i500), didn't work, then tried moto droid (a855), doesn't work.
Does anyone know how to get this to work? Or could anyone install it on another device, backup the apk, & share it here?
Thanks.

hi, can someone upload me newest version please? thanks
I know I know... There are a lot of things I am good with... android...is new for me.
I have a galaxy note and I dont know the first thing about .apk files or rooting, etc.... I dont mind the way it works now... BUT
I want S Voice. (duh)
as you can see from my sig... Its be A WHILE since I have hacked/modded phones. Then I went to the iPhone for a few models and now I am back...
I downloaded "apkinstaller" and "appinstaller" but niether will load the apk I got off of xda.
I loaded the .apk to my external sd and made enables the ability to load apps that arent from the android market.
Do I need to delete something? Or what... I really need someone to give me a "step by step, you're an idiot" way of getting this done. I really dont want to root my phone if I dont have to.
Thanks to anyone who helps!
you shouldnt need to root to install apk's as long as you have checked off ability to install apps that arent from market. I have been doing that from my dropbox since my phone was stock everything. Maybe the apk is broken. Try downloading it again. Maybe even try downloading another apk just to test if it installs properly.
I will try that now.

actually I dont think that S Voice is an apk. From what I read quickly is that it needs to be flashed via CWM. Which is a bit more complicated than installing an apk.
This is the one I JUST downloaded (dl'd this one to my phone)... not working.

I dont really have the time to read up on all of it but from what I have you may need to be rooted and remove voice talk first. I think a few of the custom ROMS also have S Voice installed on them already. This is a trickier apk than usual. Would be great if someone with more experience on S Voice would jump in and show you the steps. Sorry I couldnt be of more help.

not sure if this needs to be pushed to system/app rather than installed?
if it won't install I'm sure you'll need to be rooted.

say what? (told you I am a newb)
it is, in this state (unrooted), impossible to get it working.
You need to have root-acces (which you stated you don't have), because you have to replace the usual voice talk with the S-voice application.
You can of course root your phone, read up, and install the mod.
OMG you're such a NOOB! Kidding, just kidding. Well no actually, but that's just how it is

You can't uninstall apps in /system through the usual method. You need to use an app like Titanium Backup to do it.
Couple questions:
What firmware are you on?
Do you have superuser or supersu?
If you are rooted there are several ways to get rid of the bloatware.
Let see if we can get this done for you.

Cool. Titanium backup is the best way as described above. Also exfileexplorer will work if you know what you doing. Make sure if you haven't flashed a recovery to do so. And please please please make a back up in recovery in case deleting something messes your phone up. If you need specific help? Feel free to pm me.

Perhaps the APK is performing a check to see if the device is on a list of approved ones? I have no idea how to port an app, but it seems like some editing needs to be done to allow the app to install. Also, I wonder if it will work with HTC's bluetooth anyway...
I looked at the logs while trying to install it. Its looking for a samsung bluetooth file.. Which is probably why it fails to install on any CM10 rom or other devices...

has anybody else been successful with getting the app to work with CM 10.2 (4.3) on galaxy s3 I really need to get this watch to work it seems that the watch is visible on the phone itself when I looked at ble scanner. Sorry I'm quite a noob and just figured out how to root and get custom rom on my phone really don't want to buy a new phone just because of this watch it seems that the watch should work if the app would just work on the phone. I tried sideloading the app but got a message missing_shared_libraries. Also looked at the apk file on ApkAnalyser but I really don't know what to look for. Any ideas and helpful insights would be welcomed.

Will never work on S3 because of BLE Bluetooth Low Energy support. Sorry man...
Edit: Finally got Cookoo to work on my S4 (jfltexx) with JB custom ROM. Tried a lot of those, but LiquidSmooth 2.37 is the only one i've seen that works with BLE in combination with Cookoo Life Connect apk (for JB).

I don't get this.
The support sites says Samsung's with android 4.3 (because of BLE)..
Now woth 4.3 rolling out and the roms with 4.4 it should work I guess?
I installed the app without any problems on my S3 with CWM12 (unoffical).
I can open the app.
Now just need a Cookoo to test it...
I assumed BLE to be a hardware feature, found in S4 and later models. If it's a software tweak then might be possible, I guess. I will try it, when I get my hands on a jb S3.

If I understood correctly it can be toggled through software. But I'm a noob on this subjects so I only can read the devolper changes in Android/Cookoo logs.
Just bought a 2nd hand Cookoo and it's working on my S3 i9300 !!!!

Does that ROM support low-energy BT (BLE)? One-x has standard 4 bluetooth so the hardware shouldn't be the problem.
Don't know the devicecode for your phone, but if available i recommend OMNIROM.
I can't even download the apk from the playstore.

Hey all,
If you've been around a while (like me) chances are you've become pretty accustomed to the process every time a new build is released: download build & newest GApps, backup old apps and settings, wipe everything, flash both and restore...right? Cool.
Well I've been trying to update beanstalk as per usual but the backup app I've been using (prior to this point, without error) decided it no longer likes me. It's called My BackUp Root and it's always served my purposes magnificently. Before MBuR, I used Titanium Backup and when MBuR failed a few days ago I tried TiBu again. At this point, neither works for me. The phone either reboots or the process hangs, never finishing successfully.
SO
Any backup app recommendations that aren't MyBackUp Root or Titanium? I am of course rooted. I want to back up APKs, Data, and whatever settings I can. Thanks!
