SNOTE and Pdfs, should I just wait? - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got a samsung note 10.1 that I am absolutely loving, and suprised at how much it can do.
One Problem, S-Note still cant import pdfs without crashing. I've tried a bunch, with the current version I have tried after updating (5r929v03) and the stock. EZpdf opens em fine.
I can still bring this back, if its an issue with the tablet. Or should I just wait for an update to fix this?
(edit - Im in canada by the way, and this is a wifi black 32 version)

I personally never had a problem exporting an S-Note to a pdf...maybe its certain variables in the S-Note your trying to export. I've honestly only tried it once and it worked like a charm.

Just made a pdf by exporting through polaris office. SImple pdf with the words "hi" on the top. Still crashes.

It has worked just fine for me also. I tried it twice.

Certain versions of S-Note have issues importing PDFs. The later versions don't. Someone from Canada posted their S-Note version number and it is one of the two that are broken. I'm sure it'll be fixed in the next update which will hopefully be JB. There's more info in this thread.

have you tried to reset your tab.factory restore

The issue here is import..not export!!..if export, no one is facing any crash..

it's probably problem of some firmware around the world. Many peoples has the same problem with importing of Pdf in the Czech republic. Samsung hotline can't help also.

[Q] Readers Hub

I got my tab in Norway yesterday and i noticed that the news and magazine section is not activated yet. Does anyone know when "Service will be available soon" is? Like 1 week, month, half a year?
Update: News and Magazines seems to be available to most people now, just open Readers Hub and click on Install. Personally i only got the update for Zinio.
If you don't get the install option try to go into "Manage applications" find the Readers Hub app and clear data, then start the app again.
Been trying to google an answer myself. Wished Samsung would come out with an official statement. It's one of the most anticipated things on my list.

from what i can tell they dont work anywhere yet (mines italian)
Not working for me in Malaysia yet as well.
Same here in Dubai. Firmware JPJJ1. Does anyone see them active using any other firmware?
Zinio isn't even available if you go to their homepage.
It was supposed to be relased this summer.
It appears to be available, as per some reviews. See PC World hands on with the Galaxy Tab.
So the question is, has it been pulled back due to some reason... or if it is to be made available in only select markets?
Either way, it's quite unfortunate, as Zinio was one of the features I was looking forward to in the Galaxy Tab.
German tab in the netherlands not activated either

UK: only Kobo e-books available, out of the 3 options in the reader "hub".
I found the reader hub apps, taken from the Tab, and I loaded them on Desire HD.
Zinio is working, and I was able to download the magazines that I purchased (I have a subscription from the time I owed an iPad). News papers are working too.
Why it is not working on the Tab ?
Zinio launch says Zinio beta - it is the same on Tab ?
I am waiting for my Tab to arrive soon, and I was looking forward to read my magazines from Zinio.
Could you guys upload those files and see if it is working ?
This worked! - showthread.php?t=827566 (I can't post links here yet)...
Perhaps it's the limited catalogue for Android/Tab formatted content that has prompted Samsung to hold back until later...

I've tried, this and it works.
If you install the zinio and press reader only, only the press reader app is available in readers hub.
If you install the readers hub as well, you'll end up with two applications "readers hub" and "ReadingHub", and in the later one. Zinio is available.
Downloading my Zinio subscriptions right now, unfortunately it crashed..
Update: Was able to download an issue now but the internal pdf-viewer doesn't seem to work so it is pretty much back to square one.
Hi there
can u please explain how you managed to fix this? im still not able to use this service :-(

It seems to be a problem with Zinio on the new magazines.
When I try to download the new issue on iPhone, the app crashes. The old magazines (October or November) are working fine - download and read.
Same thing happens on Desire HD.
Where can I get the apps? Any idea?
Link to apk:s are in the first post on this page.
I just bought a subscription and downloaded it... it seemed like the magazine would not load but zooming in a tiny bit opened the page?? It seems like the preview won't open/render properly.
I don't understand why this would happen. As I don't have any old subscriptions to try, I can't comment on the ability to load past issues. I wish Zino would fix this.... I can't be that hard to rectify!
According to the Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten, readers hub will be ready «in a week or two».

Same here. On Macworld from August there is no need to zoom - I think they change the format from that time.
Let's hope they will come soon with a proper release app.

iAnnotate lite now available on Samsung market

Just went to the Samsung market and saw the app. They have released only the light version which they are saying will be updated from time to time.
For those who don't know what the app does, it's a well known app that was released for the Ipad / phone and is used to annotate pdf's. Current version seems limited but works well with the S pen.
Once it has all the features, this will probably be the best pdf annotation app available unless Soonr Scribble can beat them to it.
Enjoy!

Just noticed this today.
It's a good idea to peek at the samsung store every now and then since you can sort by newest apps.
It's quite interesting there's no full version in the market.
I guess it's sort of a beta test?

I agree, I think that they are testing the water with Note owners to see the level of interest and then will decide how much to charge for the full featured full version. This app was originally advertised as available for the Note and soon changed to 'Coming Soon' soon after the Notes release.
Thanks for the heads up! Checking this out now.
Not bad. I can open a PDF from email, sign it, and attach it / send as email.
No palm recognition though. That may be Soonr's best quality....

Wow, didn't even know that the Soonr app had palm rejection, thanks for that, also noticed that Soonr is pressure sensitive.
EzPDF has nice annotation built in.

Woohooo ! Finally! Been waiting on this for a long time now!
I'm trying to find the iannotate apk to give as a valentines tomorrow and I can't find for the life of me. Tried to trick the market into thinking I have a Note, but that didn't work and I ended up bricking my phone. Any help as to an alternative source for the app?
EDIT: All were sent with annotations. I was just doing view in google docs, which the annotations will NOT show. Now does anyone know where to change the email sig that attaches from the app "Sent from my Tab" and to deltete docs within the app?
Has anyone been able to send the marked up pdf's with the annotations intact? Everytime I send them the pencil writing doesnt show up in the sent document. Ive been taking a screenshot then cropping them, which is unnessecary. Is there something I am doing wrong?
(I was trying to send back a missed signature form, so if it worked perfectly It would have went better and not pissed off my GF)

What sort of PDF are you trying to import? I can import PowerPoint slide shows, 3 up config, up to 180 pages worth without a problem. When I try to import blueprint pdf's, 11x17" format, I have a similar issue of S Note failing.

PPT files is powerpoint file~ i think wat he means is using Polaris Office to import ppt file. It is fine for documents, excel and powerpoint file. But Problem in PDF.
Having the exact same problem with mine, Canadian wifi model, 32Gb. seems with any PDF file, at least any that I've tried. It will bring up the loading bar saying importing page 1/X... and then it pauses for a long time at the last page then just crashes right to the home screen with no error.
Fairly annoying as this was the feature I was most wanting to use with this device. If anyone can share a fix it would be much appreciated.
If this pdf would work... it would be GOLDEN. I hate using ezPDF just cause of the UI... its embarrassing. Gives Android a bad name...
I think this pdf problem is effecting all Canadian versions. I've tried 2 different ones and they both have the problem. Contacted Samsung Canada about it but they said they weren't aware of any problems. And to the above ezPDF is pretty good, not sure why you think the UI is bad. As for the eraser problem I just change the color to white, works pretty much like an eraser.

If you use the airbrush icon, it gives you pen, air brush, and eraser. To access these, you have to click back and forth and it is quite tedious. They could have laid the pen/eraser and thickness control in the quick access menus. Using the s-pen button to toggle highlight would also be a nice addition. And general UI, the awkward orange and patterned background doesn't look too good. The buttons on the main file explorer page on the top right is all bunched up because the app was made for mobile devices not tablet optimized.
Having said that, the functionality is simply amazing. It does literally everything you need it to do. Just wish the UI was a little more "Holo".
Hey, me too.. i have a Portuguese Version and failed to import the PDF..
Please help me.. i need import pdf in S Note..
Tnks
I was facing the same issue right after I bought mine and mine was in Singapore.
I sent my queries to Samsung staff and they clarified that yes it is not working at that moment.
However after the 76mb recent update, it solved everything, able to import pdfs and also scroll bars in snote.
If you have not received the update, the only solution is to update to jellybean which is working when importing pdfs.

Just got off the phone with Samsung Canada support. Long story short, it was working for him but we established that he is running a different build than me. I have the N8010 bought from Staples Canada and the build number for me is IMM76D.N8010XWALG4. I have not received any OTA update either.
He is going to investigate further tomorrow and call me back so lets see what happens.

Yeah I tried Kies and it says I'm on the lastest update I'm sure they've bungled something as my build and tech support's build was different. Shipping the wrong build tsk tsk.

Thanks, thought I was crazy.
Yeah adobe reader has some decent annotation and it's free. If you want something more powerful I'd go with ezpdf.

The software the note comes with is baffling. Issues like no locked zoom in snote and broken annotation in Polaris are so glaring and readily come upon that I have to wonder just how little Samsung or the app developers actually care. It's like they made these things and then forgot all about them.
Which is crazy considering these things are what they have chosen to highlight. Snote should be constantly improving. Instead nothing gets checked off from the list of improvements and shortcomings.

[Q] gnabo rom v6.5 snote problem

hello guys im new around here so dont blame me for wrong question or posting in wrong place .
ive flashed gnabo rom v6.5 into my note n8000 everything working fine until now the only problem is snote that not importing pdf files larger than 160 - 180 pages . i need the app more than any other apps so anyone can help me with this problem or someone have the same problem ????
:crying: <----- isn't that just a little overly dramatic ?
dude, pdf's get real expensive real fast especially on a tab. you could try using an app that will allow you
to disable auto-runs in order to free up more ram to try and improve your performance.
there is alot of crap in every app that suck your ram up like a vampire.
especially google apps, and reporting/usage statistics/analysis, debug/bug reporting, push messaging, developer guilt trippy
data harvesting etc.
clip that stuff till you need it to run. and as far as finding the best approach to do so, research it.
m
Thanks your very helpful ??

You have to break the PDF Into small files.. I do this on my Computer before hand.
Large tech documents will full page images are the worse.
I Do this with adobe pdf. Just click save ass select pages 0-100
SAVE as Filename1of10 for example xxxx
Thanks its a good idea but I was import any type of pdf with my old snote .
