Hi, I am familiar with this forum but I have never posted anything. Ok anyways I just ordered a Chinese knockoff phone called the Hero 2000+ of the Iphone 5, it comes as an android os instead of the ios. The reason I ordered this was to experiement with it, plus I like how the Iphone looks but dont care for the IOS. So I know MIUI makes a custom rom with an Iphone theme, so my question is can this be installed in a chinese knockoff? I would love to have the best of both worlds.

Hi,
According to many websites the Xolo X900 is excepted to be released really soon on Indian market (rumored for as early as tomorrow).
This along with the Lenovo K800 are the first Android devices w/ Intel chipsets.
Official Specs:
Processor: 1.6 GHz Intel Atom
OS: Android 2.3 Gingerbread (Upgradable to ICS)
RAM: 1 GB
Screen: 4.03'' (LCD 1024 x 600)
Camera: 8 MP with Flash
Front Camera: 1.3 MP
Internal Storage: 16 GB
Dimensions: 123 x 63 x 10.99 mm
HDMI TV out: Yes
NFC: Yes
Engadget review: http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/intels-xolo-x900-by-lava-hands-on/
I'm trying to understand where this device stands comparing to other new devices announced at MWC 12.
Only single core but it's Intel and I don't think we have comparison data between this and the different ARM processors.
Screen smaller than the current trend of minimum 4.3''.
Intel promise good battery life and everything else seems quite good so I assume mid-range class but I have no idea if it has the quality of other devices in this category like the HTC One S or Xperia P.
Would love to hear opinions about this device.
As an added question,
Would you suffice with such device or go with HTC One X? (assuming budget is not an issue).
Sounds like it has a lot of promise!
I heard the price was about Rs.22000(apx.$440). For a single core processor i think its too much when we can get a dual core for about the same price.
may be,
But guys, lava promised that this will have an ICS update soon, and all mobiles out which have dual core, do you think they are actually necessary. There are many battery dragging features in dual core. And Here, No more ARM you are getting a processor created buy Intel with 1.6MHZ Where you get 2Mhz processor provided by lg recently.( commoon intel is Legend in PC core processors), they promised that you will have the best charging life than any other mobile out in market. May be cost is bit high, but I think 18k is enough for this mobile. Which is already available.
Europe version
It will have an europe version with Orange, called Orange Santa Clara
Today i have received a package from one of our custumers and Xolo X900 was inside ;-) .... till monday i have to compare this phone with the iPhone 4s and Samsung Galaxy SIII ... i will post then some pics and facts...
It really looks nice, but with the 4 touch buttons and the hole in the display it not really seens to be up to date...
More in a few days...
Orange San Diego is Intel. Its £200... Not sure in India a I'm not Indian...
Sent from my Asus Transformer TF201 Prime using XDA Premium HD app
Orange San Diego and Intel XOLO X900 both are same except for the firmware. Orange San Diego have generic GB with Orange branding. XOLO doesn't have any branding. There is another sibling to this device in Russia. I don't remember what they call it.

If this is the price on offer, then surely this handset would not have an impact in the Indian market..
Seems overpriced
Hi All,
Been seeing a lot of china phones running the MTK6577 + SGX531 and was wondering if anyone had any real performance figures on any of these devices, particularly those with screen resolutions greater than 800x480.
There are a lot of knock-off phones running this however there are some china-branded phones sporting them as well.
Ive seen some threads surrounding haipai devices that are running this SoC, however they only seem to have 512MB RAM and WVGA screens (albeit the screens are quite large physically).
I was wondering if there were any phones running MTK6577 with 1GB RAM and a 960x540 or better yet a 1280x720 screen?
I understand that they are cheap and would like to know if they represent 'bang-for-buck' at all?
Well depends who makes it ...xiaomi is great got the mi-1 going to get the two ... look at fastcardtech.com for xiaomi mi-2

I have the Haipai x710d MTK6577, And so far i love it, Rooted with a custom rom, Super fast and lots of features 2gb of usable space, With the custom rom it fixes the SD card problem so you are able to save all your data and app on it now. very speedy, great screen color yeah its not a super amoled or anything but it looks great to me, It depends on opinion about the screen resolution and the way it looks. Games play great. Battery life is awesome. Camera is awesome. ICS 4.0.9, For me and this is my first second Chinese phone, And so far i love it. recommend to anyone.

I am interested in knowing the basics:
How is the phone signal, volume and clarity?
How is the GPS lock? Is it fast enough (under 10 seconds)? Is it usable for google navigation?
How is the camera? Fast enough with good pictures?

I have been looking at the HaiPai however the low screen resolution is a bit unfortunate.
Was wondering if you had run Antutu on it at all?

we need an a chinese phone section.
Just got my Amoi n820, trying to figure out how to root it.
Anyway Antutu score is about 5400+ ? its actually a pretty decent performer
It appears that there is an S3 knock-off that has a 1GB RAM and a 1280x720 screen which is pretty decent.
I have also found a "Hero H9500+" which is essentially a Zopo ZP900 but with only 512MB RAM and a 5.0MP camera (8.0MP would be better but ahh well).
Still for less than $200 it has a 5.3" QHD 960x540 screen. Havent been able to find any video demonstrations of it however.
It would be awesome to have a 5"+ phone with 1GB RAM and a 1280x720 screen. I think we will see them soonish.
I understand that MediaTek are bringing out a quad-core (i think its MTK6585?) later this year which should see quad-core china phones boom. The GPU is supposed to be the SGX544 which is used in TI OMAP 4 amongst other things.

Be very careful. Many shops advertise 1,2 Ghz but they do send you a 1.0 Ghz phone. Afaik there is no 1.2 Ghz variant around.
I own one of the "1.2ghz" MTK 6577 and the fact that they have a sticker with "quadcore CPU" on it should tell you something about how the chinese advertise their products.
That being said i knew that i am buying a 1.0 GHZ dualcore phone and i am very happy with it. It's really fast and powerful enough to do some gaming if one likes to.
It's the Tinji I9300 S3 clone 4,7 inch. It's getting sold under all sorts of names aparrently.

Hello everyone.
I was surfing the web yesterday and I discovered pretty weird android phone and wanted to share it with you guy. I don't know if you have heard about the phone ZOPO ZP980. If yes, please can you provide with more info, because i couldn't find any benchmarks or additional info.
So, the phone is 5 inch, Full HD, 13.1MP + 5MP front camera.
It has some kind of 4core CPU: MTK MT65891.2GHz, Cortex-A7 quad-core
GPU: Power VR SGX544
It looks pretty handsome and I kind of like it
It comes with 4/16GB ROM and 1GB RAM + sdCard support.
The best part is that it costs only 250$
So, everything looks like a high end expensive spartphone. But sounds too good to be true, so whats the problem with it?
I don't know what to expect from that phone as it is made in china. But sounds pretty cool.

Zopo 980 is actually a really good device for those looking to switch from iPhone. It's obviously physically similar - making it easier to adjust versus typical phablet type devices.

I was in the market too for this phone, but in the end I decided otherwise. I've ordered the UMi X2T.
Here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtEzLsxd178 you have some extra info.
Been using the Zopo C2 (1Gb Ram 4Gb ROM) for the last 2 weeks. Frankly love the phone. The display is just amazing. 441 PPI.My colleagues have HTC One n Butterfly n Samsung S4 the display is just as good if not better viewing angles are amazing too. I've been playing Subway surfers n temple run with out any lag. Heavy games like Contract killer2 which gets stuck on my S3, works seamlessly on this. Antutu benchmark is a little under 12k. For the price $220 its much more than worth its price.

GOCLEVER FONE 450 - 4,5" HD IPS, 1GHz dual core, 1GB, 5MPx budget Android smartphone
GOCLEVER FONE 450 - new super cheap Android phone, 2-3 times cheaper even than the Google Nexus 4, but still offers 4,5 inch HD IPS screen, dual core CPU, GPS and all other features.
4,5" HD IPS-LCD 1280x720 pixels
MediaTek MT6577 1GHz (Dual Core Cortex A9, GPU SGX531)
1GB RAM
Android 4.1
5MPx camera, GPS, Accelerometer.
I bought this phone for my wife instead of Samsung Duo S (which was laggy beyond reasonable) and so far she's very satisfied with it (oh yes, it's white). The display is gorgeous for this price tag, the overall speed is also a nice surprise. I also like the management of the 2 SIM's.
The down sides are:
- the battery capacity
- localization (to Slovak language in my case)
- the tech support told me it should get Android 4.3, but no ETA and honestly I'm quite sceptic about that
- lack of documentation that would enable to root it and install custom recovery
- GPS acts funny - sometimes it takes even 10 minutes to get a fix, sometimes it's matter of a few seconds

I'm afraid not. I tried all ways I was able to find for this processor family without luck. I also wrote the official GoClever tech support but they only confirmed me the root is not available for this phone. Shame, this phone phone would deserve it.
Btw. I'm going to send mine for repair - there's something seriously wrong with the phone (gsm?) module. There's around 30% chance that I receive or make a call even if the phone is normally connected to the network. Really annoying.

I'll have to correct you a bit: it has an 8MPx camera (although it says 5 on it, it's a factory error) and it's a Quad-Core.
GPS is crap, there's a fix for that though.

Hey guys!!! 8 months ago I bought a phone which was great for the cash i had collected at that time. I bought a ZTE Blade III Pro. Here are the specs:
Networks: 2G and 3G
Screen: 4" Capacitive TFT Touchscreen, 480x800, 233ppi
Memory: 4GB (1.8 usable), expandable to 32GB via MicroSD card, 512MB RAM
Sound: Dolby Mobile Sound Enhancement
Camera: Primary:5MP, 2592 х 1944, autofocus, touch to focus, geo-tagging, panorama, timing mode, camera filters, 480p video recording | Front:0.3 VGA
Chipset: Snapdragon S4 Play MSM8225
CPU: Dual-Core 1.2GHz Cortex A5
GPU: Adreno 203
Battery: 1600 MaH
Android: 4.1.2 Jelly Bean
Since there are no custom ROMs available for this device I decided to port but no success. Then I tried my luck and started to learn how to build AOSP ROM from source. Then I found out that I need a kernel-source and device-tree available. Since ZTE hasn't released kernel-source and device-tree for this phone that was a no go.
So I'm here to ask you can I build my own kernel-source and device tree? And How To Do It? I have read on other forums that you can use drivers from other devices with the same hardware ( there are a lot of them ) but I don't know what to do right now. There are KitKat builds for phones with the same hardware ( HTC Desire X, Huawei Ascend Y300... ) but they have a lot of developers and there are a lot of custom ROMs for them! Please Help Me!!!

Without the kernel source there is nothing you can do. This is the reason developers never touch off beat devices or devices from from China based OEM.
