[Q] HTC Sensation 4G, 3G data on roms? - HTC Sensation

I've noticed my data says '3G' data on every rom i flash, are their any roms that use the 4G part of the HTC Sensation 4G?

It might depend on the area you live in.I know on every Rom I flash I'm running H. Which is hspa+ which is T-Mobiles 4g. So it's not the Rom your running it is your cell signal. What you CAN do is change your radio and ril and see if this brings your signal closer to 4g. You can start by looking at the ics generic radio and ril files.because we live in different areas I cannot recommend which will work for you. You will have to experiment for yourself to see which brings the best signal in your area. I Hope this solves your issue. If not it might not be possible to hook to a 4g tower near your area. All you can do is try. Changing the radio and ril should help depending on what is available in your region and area. You flash the radio like a pg58img file and the ril can be flashed like a Rom. Best wishes to you and Hope I've helped.

[Q] 4G symbol

Got HTC Sensation 4G from T-mobile.
Did S-Off, SuperCID and flashed official European ROM (RUU... 1.45) because I need Russian interface.
Unfortunately, the phone doesn't show "4G" icon anymore Only "H" or "3G" even in T-mobile USA network.
Is it built in radio, or in ROM?
How can I make sure that phone still works in 4G speeds? Or it can not with European ROM and radio?
Maybe any fix available to install?
In europe there is either 4G or LTE.
I think it is the european ROM that doesn't support 4G yet
Tried this rom and getting stuck in a buttloop. Any ideas?!

The H represents "4G"
H=4G. You're not losing any data speeds. The icon is just different. It's actually more accurate for the type of speed you're getting (HSPA+) because it's not truly 4G. That's just a marketing term American cellular companies like to use to get the masses to purchase their newer phones. I'm curious if they declare the next speed to be "5G".
FYI- this would be better posted in the Q&A forum next time
The icon is not radio linked.. It's based on what is in your SystemUI.apk file.
I get H+ here in Niagara Falls on Virgin

[Q] HTC Sensation Radio Problems.

Hi,
I have a HTC Sensation unlocked model (Which i bought off ebay, not using the Telstra Rom) which is using the Telstra Network in Australia. In city areas i get fairly good reception which is acceptable, but when i goto rural areas, with clear line of site to the towers, i get dropouts and am only able to run on the Edge network. I have done a few tests with other people on the same network, Telstra, using different phones, and they have all had HSDPA reception.
In these tests, the iPhone 4 had perfect H/3g reception and another mate of mine has an Incredible S on the Optus network and has H/3g reception also. I also tested my friends Optus sim card in my Sensation and he has similar reception problems which are non-existent in his Incredible S. Is there some sort of problem with the frequency setup on my model which is optimised for an overseas market? i have all the correct APNs for the Telstra network, as it works in Melbourne Metropolitan area.
I think it may have something to do with not being able to pick up the correct frequency or prioritise it. As it will use an Edge signal over HSDPA if Edge has a slightly stronger signal?
I have tried using the *#*#4636#*#* method to try and change the radio band but it has been unsuccessful. Would it be worth trying to flash my phone with a Telstra rom to see if that has any effect on picking up H over Edge? or would it be hard coded into the phone?
I know with the Samsung Galaxy you can actually input your own custom frequencies, is there anyway to do that in the Sensation without using the stock presets?
This is a brain buster for the guru's and any help would be appreciated!!
Thanks In Advance!
Williem
im not sure if sensation has an app for that but have you tried flashing a different radio?
I have tried a different radio rom and the same problem persists
Can anyone guide me with RADIO?
Before v3.0.1, I was on v2.2.5(11.21.3504.13_2 radio) and everything seemed fine!
Now with 11.22.3504.07_M radio, my 3g network isn't working.
Someone sent me a link, but i have idea what to do!
It says, "The 11.68.3504.00U_11.21.3504.13_2 radio is included in the Firmware from 3.24.401.1 & 3.25.401.101 RUU", but im on firmware 3.30.401.101. How do i get back my 3g?

If you're referring to *#*#4636#*#*, it exists on all versions of Android. I had it on my Samsung phone and my Sensation both of which I always had set to GSM Auto (PRL)
Try this radio.
DON'T flash it from recovery - unzip it and read the instructions inside. Hopefully it clears up your problems.

You need matching radio & RIL.

[Q] Radio comparison between HTC Sensation and Samsung Galaxy S II

I have an HTC Sensation, my wife has an SGS II, both with the same provider (Bell Mobility in Ottawa, Canada).
I've rooted and installed Android Revolution ROM 6.2.1 with ICS on my Sensation and am using a more recent Radio, whereas my wife is still using the stock Bell ROM on her SGS II.
My phone's radio appears to be very unstable, constantly switching between 3G and H on the display, whereas her phone, in the same room, 6 feet away, maintains an H lock more frequently.
Is there that much difference between the hardware in the two phones' radios, or should I be looking at trying out other radios on my HTC Sensation until I find that is more stable?
Is anyone else here using Bell in the Ottawa area with a rooted HTC Sensation, and if so, what are your results?
Cheers!
You should ensure that your radio matches your RIL. Also, the Sensation is known to have a weaker signal due to using the aluminum case as part of the antenna.

[Q] Best Radio for Sensation 4g Running CM7?

What is the Best Radio to use for Sensation 4g Running CM7? My 4g is kind of off... I sometimes get really good speeds and sometimes it'll act like a dial up connection! Any help would be much appreciated!
they recommend to use the version 10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01. check here to download it.
dunno if CM7 has the 4g icon in it.
check you radio version to see which one you have. do you have any other issue, with the wifi for example?
Wifi works fine. im running 10.56.9035.00P_10.14.9035.01_M It has the H Icon which is 4G but it is going in and out from H to 3G to G to E. Depending on where I am at.

I guess it's just your network that is not fully 4g covered. I have the same thing here in my country. When I received my sensation, I had the 4g icon wherever I was, but when I flashed my first custom rom, and radio, I guess the thing became more sensitive and shown 3g and H icons.

Hi you can try changing you're radio and ril. It is possible to bring a better signal by changing radio and ril. A good place to start would be ics generic radio and ril. Do some experimenting see which one works best for you and your area
