Just got a used Nexus S (i9020t) coming from a Vibrant. The number of AOSP based ROMS over here is very refreshing. Anyone have a recommendation for a 2.3.5 ROM that is stable, easy on battery, and fast? (Hey, I want all three). I've been running cm7 on my Vibrant, so I'm familiar with that. Is the last nightly stable? What about the Kanged versions? Should I be swapping out kernels?
Basically I'm looking for a solid ROM that I won't have to (or want to) mess with for a while. Thanks for any suggestions.

Try my rom. I just updated it 10 minutes ago. Fast and stable. If you're trying to save battery do an undervolt and lock the max speed to 800mhz.
Edit: ROM is called -=Nexus MV=-

Thanks for the reply and thanks for releasing a ROM. Will definitely check it out.

Try a CyanogenMod 7 kang from Simms22 (you can get them on the CM7 Nightly thread): http://fitsnugly.euroskank.com/gigg...cm-7.1.0-RC1-NS-KANG-signed.09142011-0558.zip
Flash the Google Apps package: http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-gb-20110729-signed.zip
Use the Trinity TUV kernel (it's broken at the moment, use this build from the 11th): http://morfic.euroskank.com/NS/TUV-Any-NS+4G-11092011.zip
CM7 is just... amazing. Use this for speed and very good battery.
I would recommend cm7 miui and Peter Alfonso. All very good roms. In my opinion Pete's rom has the best battery life but try them all and see what u like best. What works good for me may not work for u lol. Just try all the roms people on here said and see what works best for u

I Love Peter Alfonso's ROM the GPA17 it's one of the best ROMs it doesn't come with any apps pre-installed which i love

Im using CM7 ...but it is very disspointing me because of the battery..
just last for 10 hours..
I've been running Formels MIUI, it's on the devs forum here on the Nexus S, it seems to be stable compared to the stock MIUI and battery is better.
Still, I'm also looking for a Rom that improves the camera, recording still isn't as good as I wanted and sometimes I get the random freeze&reboot....
hi guys, I recently bought a G2X and i would like to find out what ROM it has so i could read more about it, ask questions, find answers etc... if someone could provide me a link to the ROM that would be great thanks!
I'm guessing you have richie390 last MIUI port. Been using MIUI most of my G2x life but now I'm running EagleBlood ICS AOSP.

CM9 = Ice Cream Sandwich
CM10 = Jellybean
There's a lot of roms available. CM10, Rasbeanjelly, Metal Dragon Overlord, Paranoid Android, Blackbean 6 and more.
Most stable is the stock one.

Slimbean just released their 3.0 version which is based off android 4.12.
It has everything.
Vs Nexus S4G using tapatalk2
I would have to say stock rooted or cm10 stable would be the best bet. Rasbean jelly is stable as well, but it is a port from gsm nexus so there is no SMS split.

Rustyjay also released a "rustified" version of his port of rasbeanjelly that has SMS split and he also posted a flashable zip for just the MMS apk with the extra customization menu settings.

I'm using Slim Bean 3.0 right now but I think AOKP Milestone 1 has more in the way of customization the two are pretty close though both have been stable daily ROMs for me. I always use AIR's weekly kernel release with whichever ROM I run. Just start flashing and see which one you like. Try 'em all I don't think you can go wrong most if not all 4.12 for the NS4G are stable and have similar options.
Then you can turn around and find a 4.2 ROM in a few days. They're getting close. Happy flashing.

Hi there mates,
I finally decided to dump the stock ROM and give it a try on custom one.
After reading a bit i think i'm starting to like Cyanogen, but since i want a good stable ROM i appreciated some opinions form anyone who is using it.
1st and really important: my stock ROM does not have any of the know issues (deep sleep probs, random reboots, battery drains etc...) so anyone know if CM 9.x stable have any of this issues?
2nd does everything work? In the CM forums i found no one complaining with "loosing" functionality's but i would like to ear from anyone that uses this on a daily basis. (i found a lot of people complaining with encryption problem and bad flashing but not about Wifi radio, camera, etc...)
3rd: Is this the best choice to use on a daily basis? Or there is a better/more stable/more fluid Rom?
Thanks to all.
Most of the CM 10.x ROMs are pretty stable and usable. I am a fan of the KatKiss ROMs. 4.2.2 has the best functionality, but the 4.3 variant is not bad. The only thng that does not work for me is camera on Skype.
+1 for KatKiss #226

On KatKiss 4.3 the camera do t work for me. The CM 10 and 10.1 ROMs and KatKiss 4.2.2 it worked fine. I have not tried any CM 10.2 ROMs.

Have you tried the stable version recommended on the CM site? Its 9.1.
The 10.x versions are not marked as stable... and i really dont want to re-re-reflash over and over again
Thks

Hmmm, if I did it was a while ago. CM 9 is based on ICS. I have not run an ICS ROM for more than a few hours in over a year. I would say that the Jelly Bean based ROMs (CM10.X) feel SO much faster due to project butter. I flashed back to stock ICS a bit ago, and it feels so sluggish.
Most of the threads on CM 10 you can see how stable they are. I know the No-Name CM 10.1 is rock solid. Joesteink has moved on, but the ROM is still rock solid and many users swear by it.

Is CM finally stable? I had it installed a year or so ago, but then it was still beta for the transformer. Since then I used various flavors and eventually stayed with the EOS-build. Very stable with all the options I ever need (like overclocking and gouvenor-changing). I'm still using EOS, since it's stable and performing very well. Katkiss seems to be the continuation of it, so you could try it yourself And if you don't like it, then you drop it for something else
Hello everyone.
My friend owns this device and has asked me to flash a custom Rom. Now I've found many thanks to the awesome devs out there.
As you people have more experience about the roms, which according to you all is the most stable and almost bug free rom?
Also please suggest a good kernel.

Try cyanogenmod11 (m8) .
Kernel: Mosh kernel or nebula kernel.
I agree.....for me CM 11 + Mosh kermel is OK.... Good Job !

yes Cyanogenmod 11 (M8) is the best with liquid smooth 3.1, but with EVERY rom i had SODs -.-
Hi! I used CM11, but I had quite a few bugs and app crashes. Even the UI crashed a lot. Now I am using AxxionKat (Android 4.4.4) and I am REALLY happy. I still have some of the CM11 bugs, but at least my apps don't crash anymore. It is an OFFICIAL ROM, devs are really working on it. I highly recommend it! :good:

Did u use cooldev's or beast's cm? Beast's cm is m8 and cooldev's m7
I used cooldev's I am not sure about the differences between M7 and M8, but decided to give a try to the Axxion. Wasn't disappointed. Of course Beast's is a stable ROM, but it's still unofficial. That was the dealbreaker for me
