This is Nic (despite my "wongyikhoong" username) from Malaysia. I have recently bought 2 units of Lenovo S880 from Beijing, China and I am instantly in love with this device. I see a lot of people facing problems with this phone. So I am here trying to help out as much as I can.
Lenovo S880 is a cool 5 inch ICS running device with dual sim capabilities. Specs as below:

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
However, due to the fact that it is a China phone, it came pre-installed with loads of rubbish Chinese applications which tremendously slow down the device and there is no Google apps installed onto the device. The phone came with a native Chinese ROM and there IS a ROW (Rest Of The World) ROM out there.
In order to make the phone usable to us international users, you would need to flash a ROW ROM onto the device. And here's how to.
Stuff you would need:
1. Micro USB cable
2. MediaTek USB VCOM drivers
3. SP Flash Tool (v3.1206.01 or higher)
4. A ROW ROM for your Lenovo S880
All the above can be obtained from my Dropbox folder
1. Download and install the MediaTek USB VCOM drivers to your PC.

WARNING!!!
The methods and procedures discussed here are considered risky and you should not try it unless you really understand. If there is damage to your equipment, we will not be responsible, you are responsible for yourself, and you are reminded!!!

1. Download the following file : Official ROM file S110 ROW
2. Extract the file in the folder, for example C:\
3. Also extract SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1216.02.rar file where located in the folder that had been extracted, and the also extract file target_bin.zip. Please note in the folder Flash Tool there are "new usb driver" folder which will be used to install the driver.
4. Turn off his phone. Remove the battery, sim card and external sdcard.
5. Plug the USB cable that connect the phone to the PC.
6. Windows will detect the new hardware. On windows 32 bit (wether it's windows xp, 7, or 8), installed drivers will fail. Open the device manager (usually by right-clicking the computer, properties, device manager, or by going to Control Panel \ System and Security \ System). Find new hardware that has not installed its drivers, usually Media tek USB VCOM or MT65xx. Right click on the drivers and driver updates. Select browse my computer for driver software, and navigate to the folder location where the "new usb drivers" folder in the flashtool folder. Drivers will be installed.
8. Disconnect the data cable
9. Run the program Flashtool. In Scatter-loading, point to point to Folder Target_bin / and locate the file MTK6575_Andriod_scatter_emmc.txt. Then check DA DL All With Check SUM, as shown below:

10. Press Firmware -> Upgrade. Then plug the cable back data.
11. The upgrade process will take some times, and will appear in the bottom bar of red, purple, and yellow, and ends with an image like this:
12. The upgrade process is complete. Then replace the battery, SIM card and its sdcard.

i read from a chinesse forum.. it's said that lenovo will launch JB for S880 and P700 in early 2013. but don't hope to much.

Need help getting G-sensor to work
I had battery issues with my funbook & at the service center they changed my motherboard. i didn't realized to make a backup of the new firmware they provided, hence when i install any custom firmware rom i can not get G-Sensor to work. So i decided to be brave & opened the tablet cover, here i found out that the new mother board is "inet-97f rev03 zgc 2012-06-15" while earlier was of Rev02. i have attached a picture below too ..
Can some one help me how can i get the G-sensor to work again ?? Please help .... i dont think i have warranty anymore as i opened up the tablet & even i dont have the original software so

How to Root Chery Mobile Candy TV
Requirements:
- Android Usb Driver (PDAnet) :
pdanet.co/bin/PdaNetA350.exe - Windows XP/Vista/7 32-bit
pdanet.co/bin/PdaNetA350x64.exe - Windows Vista/7 64-bit
-winrar or any zip extractor
-SP Flash Tool > - SP_Flash_Tool_exe_v2.1140.0
-scatter text file for Candy TV - MT6573_Android_scatter
-Recovery image file > - hexing15_6626_gb2_120815__recovery_121220-045622.img
-Usb data cable for your phone
-your phone ( unrooted / rooted )
-USB debugging enabled (Settings > Application > Development > USB debugging)
Follow:
1. Install Android USB Driver ( PDAnet or Cynus or Anything ).
2. Turn off your phone. Then connect your phone via usb data cable.
[ a ] Then an unknown device will appear instantly, it will disappear and then it will reappear. Right click on it and choose to update driver manually. Now locate the folder where your Android MT65xx PreLoader is. Then press OK / Next. If prompt, choose “INSTALL DRIVER ANYWAY” OR
[ b ] Find new software mt65xx preloader. Then choose install the software from a list. Now locate the folder where your Android MT65xx PreLoader is.
NOTE: If nothing happens after plugging then boot to recovery by PRESSING HOLD POWER + VOL UP Button then see your notification area on your desktop then follow either [a] or above.
- Done. Now disconnect your phone from the computer. And make it sure that your phone is turned off before proceeding to step 3..
3. Extract downloaded files to one folder for easy locating of the files. Open SP Flash Tool.

4. Look and find the scatter text file and open it.
5. Ignore and tick OK.
6. Check the box with the name "Recovery". Then look for the downloaded recovery file.

9. Plug your cellphone via your usb cable
***NOTE: If your phone isn’t detected after plugging then boot to recovery by PRESSING + HOLD POWER + VOL UP Button THEN go back to step 2
10. A yellow bar will appear. Wait for it to reach 100%.
11. Done. Congratulations. You successfully installed a "CUSTOM RECOVERY".
12. Now it's time to root your phone by following the next tutorial below.

- Download SuperUser Zip file
( ARM devices (2.0 – 4.1 - Use only the 3.1.3)
Follow:
1. Copy and paste the downloaded zip file to the root of your SD Card.
2. Turn Off your phone and open custom recovery by pressing and holding Power Button + Volume Up.
3. Install zip from sdcard.
4. Choose zip from sdcard.
5. Choose the file downloaded. Then confirm update.
6. Reboot.
7. Look for an icon with an Android Face named "SuperUser".
8. Done. Congratulations. Your phone is now rooted.

The guide is for the Alcatel OT-918 (No D, N, MIX), single sim, Orange Pasadena, from Romania with Gingerbread 2.3.6, it might work on other versions to, but I can't guarantee that.
Care should be taken, while the Orange Pasadena is a cheap phone, modifying your software might turn your device in an unusable brick.
Unfortunately the Android version of this phone can't be rooted with superoneclick or other simpler methods.
First of all You need the following tools from the attached file:
USB Drivers
SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1224.00
AlcatelScatterRetriever01 - optional
Universal recovery for Alcatel OT918 (2.3.5 and 2.3.6)
Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip

Double check that all other checkboxes must be unchecked!
5. Click on download
6. Connect the turned off phone to the computer, the progress bar should change its color and after a short while a small window with a green circle and ok should appear.
If it's not working remove USB cable, the battery, and reconnect the battery and then the USB cable and try again.
7. Remove the battery and the SD-card
8. Copy Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip to the SD-card
9. Replace the SD-card and the battery
10. Start the phone with the Volume UP and Power combo (release first the power button)
11. You should be in the OT-918N recovery, and should install the file Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip from the SD-card
12. Restart and enjoy your root-ed phone.
For UNROOT make a full wipe from recovery.
Repair information:
If you got an Orange Pasadena which would not boot or is in a bootloop, at step 4 select all the files from OT-918_Orange_Pasadena_Branded folder and go on with the guide.
At step 8 copy to the SD-card deepROM 2.3.6. from http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=323769&st=2320#entry16968462 ,

Witch one of the drivers should I install? I've tried everything, but the phone it is not recognized by the XP OS, and therefore the ASR.exe cannot generate the scattering file.
Please help, with more detailed procedure regarding the drivers.

My S700 can't be powered on and it will not charge :crying: i think SP can detected my S700 yet but the device manager loop between "MediaTek USB port (COM14)" and "MediaTek Preloader USB VCOM (Android) (COM12)"... and me i'm crying !!! PLEASE HELP ME whta i will do ???
I understand that my last solution is to flash yet from the manufactor ROM... so to lost my work :'( but before i need to be sure that this troubles about my port COM 12 and 14 will make not more troubles ???

*1/ I download the new S700 ROM from the manufactor website so i installed the drivers and flash it whith SP_MDT_exe_v3.1504-A2015.03.18-v06-customer => success! The 20150624_c218v13_jbl_a228_hd_3m_mstar ROM working well and during 2 weeks i install all my applications, contacts, ...
*2/ I try to transfer my sms from my old phone (Iocean X7hd) to my new S700 with Helium. It recognize my X7 and save my sms but it not working with the S700 (i opened a ticket to Helium) so i installed ALL MTK+ADB drivers found in this file www.adrive.com/public/fSxNQP/All MTK USB Driverv.9.2.PDanet.Adb 2015.zip => never working ! I remember about a conflict driver message...
*3/ I use MOBILedit ENTERPRISE_7_8_3_6076 to make a backup => it recognize my S700 and make a partial backup because my S700 is not rooted

- Pull out the battery and connect your phone to your PC, let the SPFT and the phone initiate a 'handshake' => there is nothing (i don't remeber if at this step the device manager loop already...)
- Unplug your phone from the USB cable. Click on the download button on the main screen. Now put your battery back into the phone and plug in the phone to your pc using the usb cable=> the SP Flah Tool start and see a progress bar but i have this error :
" BROM ERROR : S_FTHND_FILE_IS_NOT_LOADED_YET (5007)
There is file not loaded yet!!
[HINT]:
1. Please check if the DA path is correct.
2. Please check if all the ROM files exist.
3. Please check if the scatter file description is sync with the exist ROM files"
*6/ I click on help+ok, close SP and unplugg my S700 => i can't be powered on !!!

Fail test
Several helpers said me to resolve my mistake when i want to try new recovery+root to reflash with the manufactor ROM. So i come back to the step 1, I download the new S700 ROM from the factory website and flash it with SP Flash tool => by SP__MDT_exe_v3.1504-A2015.03.18-v06 or SPFT v5.1528 it was same : success DL but my S700 doesn't restart.... :'(

To install the USB drivers VCOM the phone must be turned off and connected to the PC with or without a battery depending on the type of device,
get a screen like this in the device manager of the computer
Once you have installed the terminal will be shown in this way (the COM port may be different)
For those who have problems with the installation of these drivers and have had in the past a terminal mtk
they may have a driver conflict, or even if you just do the confusion and installed it different,

Installation of the Firmware:
PROCEDURE
1) Setup new Firmware
download the new firmware.
Unzip the compressed file and insert into the firmware folder:
a) recovery modded (is necessary for receive right root)
Phone off without usb cable and possibly removed the battery and put back for a perfect reset .....
and hold mode 'of off without usb cable connected!
Run Flashtool version octa-core ..... select the file, and then scatter firmware upgrade
...... NOW ONLY CONNECT USB CABLE not before!
Wait for the end of the installation procedure of the firmware and eventually restart the phone!
This' whole simplified procedure for installing the original firmware.
How to have right root on Flash X Plus
Procedure
Install one recovery modded through the previous link with flashtool (Flag only preloader and recovery files)
after run through recovery place the supersu zip file and you will receive, after reboot, the right root .
Attention after received the right root is not possible to apply the ota update of new firmwares.
