Will HTC Sensation XE get official Jellybean support from HTC? - HTC Sensation

Will HTC Sensation XE get official Jellybean support from HTC?
If it will, can someone please provide a source ? Has HTC confirmed Sensation XE support?
and if yes to jellybean
will it be sense 3.6 or 4.0?

nope

I think yes.
The official german htc Facebook Page told, that it will come!
I dont know, wich Sense but they said, it will Come

Until we see an official statement, announced by HTC all these facebook and other site sources are just speculations and rumors. Jelly bean will come along with the new HTC One X+ and will also be received by the ONE X and ONE S first. After these devices are updated HTC might decide to do something with previous phones as well.

I doubt that page is an official HTC page, it says in the article that the link was posted that it wasnt an official statement.
I think no, mainly because Football says we wont and also because of some other reasons that I posted in the sticky thread in Sensation General.

It ever our phones will not have official jellybean. I might be thinking of rooting it after my warranty expires

Hopefully but not likely

i don't believe that there will be official support, but i found that some htc one s have snapdragon s3 processor (the same of htc sensation), so, when it will be updated to JB, probabliy there will be some kind of porting to our device

This is BS. I'm really struggling to think of a single good reason to stick with HTC when it's time to refresh my phone and this is a big reason why. Support for the XE was dropped hard after only a matter of months. Samsung's stellar market share rise is in part due to their much better support.
How can we trust HTC any more knowing if we buy another HTC phone, support will be dropped after 6 months and even that's pushing it? I bought my XE back in February this year when it was still a 'flagship' phone so I fell pretty cheated by HTC right now.
My wife currently has a HTC Desire Z (keyboard) and I'm moving her on to Samsung now, my experience with the XE being a big part of the reason why.
Not happy HTC! Why don't you just release a FEW phones and SUPPORT them rather than a gazillion un-supported phones of every possible variation? Didn't Nokia try that strategy? And look where it landed them, they are not even on the charts any more!

Well... I wrote to the support and they said: maybe, but for sure there won't be official Sense 4.x on sensation.

Sorry to say it's extremely doubtful, highly unlikely, that we will ever get official jelly bean. HTC had forgotten about the sensation. To them it's to old. They will just say our device can't support jelly bean or some B.S. like that. My guess is NO. NEVER. even though we're not yet two years old we are forgotten. I'm running a great jelly bean Rom right now thanks to our wonderful developers! Don't know what I'd do with out them!

Htc says on his official site that they will try to make it available for our phones and if they do they will bring with it 4.x sense. I hope so :fingerscrossed:

I seriously doubt it at this point. HTC have left the device behind and im just waiting for my warranty to expire before putting some JB roms on it.

in the philippines htc official facebook page. the htc is saying that they are currently working on a jellybean update for sensation. hoping its real

No there no way the sensation will get J.b.
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda app-developers app

I don't think so because the 4g version won't be getting it anytime soon so. I don't think the XE will

If HTC drop support for what was a flagship device this quickly, I will never buy HTC again... Samsung all the way from now on!! I hope HTC pull their finger out and re-consider their policy of dropping support after six months, for the sake of their own survival.

Lame... Samsung all the way when I get a new phone... way to lose loyal customers you idiots..

Finally yes
I got a confirmation from the HTC India support that Sensation Xe will get a Update Possibly 4.2.2 but as usual they don't know the date
but here is the mail that I got from them
" Thank you for contacting HTC support.
As per your email, we understand that you want to know when the 4.2.2 upgrade will be available in India for the HTC Sensation XE handset.
We understand how important it is for you to have your phone upgraded to the latest available operating system in the market.
Since the phones manufactured by HTC are country-specific, so are the updates released for them. That is why an update available in one country might not be immediately available in another one.
We are currently working on the 4.2.2 upgrade, and it is slated to be released soon.
When this happens, you will receive a notification on your phone (if it is connected to the internet). "

I doubt HTC will ever give Sensation owners Sense 4.0 officially. They want us to buy a new phone.
^Not that HTC will ever give Sensation owners Sense 4.0 officially but I rather like to think that they are going to be dragging it out over an extended period of time. Much like DHD's case.
HTC isnt going to butcher their new products when Sensation sporting a dual core, can handle Sense 4.0 just as good.
Think it's best to keep all Sense 4 discussion in one thread

HTC successor

Do you guys think that HTC will release a new phone later this year to compete with the iPhone 5 since their "flagships" weren't really worth that title?
Sent From My OrDroided Sensation 4G
Maybe they'll do a sort of bump to the One X like they did the XE to the Sensation but they said they'd release less phones so that remains to be seen. Perhaps they'll see how well their sales are and then decide?
That said I do feel the One X is a worthy flagship for HTC but that's just my opinion.
Well I talked to a HTC rep at the beginning of the year concerning the possibility of super amoled in the sensation and afterwards ha asked if there was any advice I had for HTC ( along those lines) and I said not not release as any phones as their flagship devices get extremely quickly outdated. He said that HTC were only going to release the one series but somehow I doubt that is true.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA
The one x is a good phone but what killed it out here is that it has no removable battery and I have T-Mobile USA so they don't even offer the one x...only the one s which really isn't an upgrade.
Sent From My OrDroided Sensation 4G
But they are planning to release a one x aren't they?
Don't blame me here or anything but I've heard from rum ours they might release a quad-core snapdragon s4....
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA
I haven't heard anything about that. Only rumors I hear about T-Mobile is the note and gs3 being released....no HTC products
Sent From My OrDroided Sensation 4G

Do you think that t-mobile will actually come out with Jb4.1 for sensation

The reason I ask is because it took them so long to actually release 4.0.and when they did it was only with 3.6 sense not 4.0 sense and also the sensation has been out for awhile now.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G with Beats Audio using xda app-developers app
This knows only HTC
I don't think they will because the sensations been out for awhile and it barely got 4.0.and buy the time Jb would come out it would around the end of the year and by.then they will have a new HTC smartphone released by then. The HTC one s I believe its called there latest release I would say for sure will get it.trust me I would love to have it on my sensation.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G with Beats Audio using xda app-developers app
Wait a time, and the first Jb Custom Roms come out
Desire HD is getting ICS (eventually), as the sensation is a generation newer and top of the range (at the time) handset, I like to think there's a reasonable chance it will get Jelly Bean. Should be less work than ICS was from what I've heard?
IIRC, T-Mobile is only obligated to release OTA updates for one year of the release date? What I'm saying is that the HTC Sensation 4G is almost at its 1 year life cycle, so I don't see T-Mobile pushing out another significant update for it like Jelly Bean.
I doubt HTC will update our phones to 4.1, but I know for a fact T-Mobile won't do it. I don't actually know for a fact, but I guarantee they won't.

Jelly Bean from HTC?

Has HTC said anything pro or con on an official JB for the Sensation?
I dont think sensation will get jellybean

Samsung has just announced that GS2 would get jellybean.
If sensation doesn't get, maybe many people won't choose htc again next time.
Well this is my last HTC phone for this reason. Next will be wp8 or Android phone from google.
Its very unlikely that the sensation will see any official from htc, but the HTC one s will and that's when we'll see some ports of sense jelly bean

I'm from TW, and as I know, HTC doesn't say anything about our Sensation upgrade.
HTC has been busy working on OneX / OneS upgrade and maybe our Sensation is abandoned though...
Why should the Sensation not get a Jelly Bean update? After the One-Smartphones is the Sensation the next Smartphone which could handle JB.
It's not a point of whether the sensation can handle 4.1 or not, its HTC devoting its resources to their flagship phones. The one x is future proof for a good while yet, but when HTC launch a new phone to replace it, the one x won't receive updates, even though it's perfectly capable of running the software. Just wait, it's likely to happen.

You really shouldnt need someone to explain that.
At the end of the day, HTC are a buisness and so must run that buisness
No official word from HTC but very unlikely. You can still get CM10 which runs quite well on the sensation.
This device is over year old... Don't hold your breath!
Phones are so expensive these days people can only afford a new one every two years (or when their contract is up for renewal in the UK) so it is a little annoying that in the second half of your phones lifetime with you it isn't supported by HTC. I think it's definitely going to be the most recent Google phone for me next.
Besides I now hate sense anyway

Would you trade in your sensation for the new upcoming nexus 4?.

I thought I didn't like sense at all and was always using Nova Launcher, until i rooted and flashed vipers from sense 4.1 and now I think i will miss if I go pure google.
The question is for those that don't like sense and are always rooting to get stock android..would you give up your beloved sensation for the nexus 4?..
Consider the specs updates and tempting low price tag it comes with.
I searched the forum but if someone already said this please delete thread ASAP!!!

On our Sensations, we have the option of Sense or pure AOSP, so I would stick with the Sensation just for that flexibility. Every time I try and switch to the latest CM10 or other ROMs I end up coming right back to ViperS Sense, I love how all the features just work. And the Sense contact linking is great, my only gripe is the low-res contact pictures.
Without a second thought.
Why would I not trade a year and a half phone for a new phone that will get updates directly from Google? First of all, we don't even know if the Sensation will get JB.
And that's before specs are even considered.
I'm with you on this, I don't want to go back to the "pure google" experience. It feels to raw and the custom sense roms we have around are very good these days...
With the price being low on the Nexus 4, why not have both? That's what I'm doing

Not even, what for? Dual boot if you want AOSP. Going back from sense is hard lol, truly

Nexus 4
I've always wanted a Nexus phone. I got my Nexus 7 tablet the first day it was offered, and I love it. So, yes. MY Sensation is going to be retired as soon as I get my hands on a Nexus 4.
Of course. Except the Sensation 4G isn't even worth half of what the Nexus 4 is worth on the market, that is, given it's still in mint condition.
Will be getting the N4 and selling the S4G on eBay.
For me the upgrade doesn't make sense unless I can sell my sensation for $180 or more
Sent from my HTC Sensation running Bruce's CM10 using XDA Premium
Would trade it right now.
The Sensation is the c**ppiest phone I've ever owned. I had it replaced once and now it's sent again for repairs, for the 5th time.
if Nexus lacks SD slot as i have readed somewhere then deffo not, if there is a sd slot ... well ... no either way, i would go for SGS3
I think I'll stay with Sensation. There is a lot of ROMs for it and that's the cool thing. However I'm planning to buy Nexus 10 as an addition.
I don't care for LG phones. The galaxy note 2 looks more appealing to me.

Like the cookie or the lg k series .
Heard nothing but crap from lg.
So if i would go for an upgrade it will be a htc or samsung phone i guess

The bought my sensation XE in January for £400 plus £50 for one year insurance simfree and trading it for 140 plus another £100 to just get N4 then insure it as well..so I think I will buy the nexus 7 for pure and keep my sensation right now..otherwise I'm seeing a major loss.

well from reading articles online and friends' experiences, LG has apparently bumped up the build quality of their phones. I havent had any personal experiences with LG devices, but the N4 does look good. the only real downside for me is lack of SD card (I carry around a lot of music files), but now that Ive switched to the unlimited data plan I stream my music a lot more through Audiogalaxy
benefits of sensation over the nexus 4:
1. removable battery (only an issue for very few)
2. microsd (also only an issue for a few who need more than 8-16GB)
3. SenseUI (only an issue for the noobies who prefer sense over AOSP/CM/AOKP)
nexus 4 is much better in every way as long as those 3 arent a problem for you
also, LG hardware is usually solid, its their crappy software that turns people off.
either way, all the reviews say this is a solid device. the Nexus branding will help LG make a name for themselves, the way it made HTC known in the android world, and the same way it made samsung known. its more about getting out there than it is about profits.
I would spend my hard earned money on a Samsung phone, won't touch an LG phone after my Vu experience.
Sgs3 and Note 2 are 2 outstanding android phones. Sorry HTC, my experience with sensation will be my final adieu to HTC.
