Warning: if you rooted your phone using the blaze recovery you need to use Odin and push our custom recovery tar file located below. make sure to uncheck repartion. if you push this with the blaze recovery it could cause issue's.
ok so d4astic cooked us up a CM 10 mod unofficial and our very own CMW recovery here are the links, and we need someone who can grab this and take over because d4astic doesnt have this phone and has a nightly on the blaze, so here you go everyone. I've taken over running the builds so....
,,,let the fun begin....
One more thing make sure you push the recovery first because the blaze one won't work with this rom
WARNING: if you brick your phone its not my fault i did this and it worked out fine just so you know

Now just in case you did not read from the top and just jumped down here; please push the recovery from the link above, if you do not do this you will have issues.

thanks for posting it here... I will test it. Also you should post Gapps link. I have it.. but others might not and may flash the wrong Gapps.

This is NOT a rant...
These are some bugs I found so far.
1. Screen Orientation (Which OP mentioned)
2. While charging if you touch the power button It will black out and Hangs up (Pull battery and restart)
3. Camera sometimes having issues. (camera not found) but most of the time works perfect.
4. Call quality Low (Like all CM builds)
Rest everything seems to be very smooth. Google Now works without any issues.
I'm just writing this for information purpose only for those who like to use this build.
Thanks a lot to dr4stic for giving us this build.

Guys, turn off the notifications. The touchkey driver I used is the stock samsung one which doesn't have the BLN (button lights notifications) which CM is looking for. Whenever you get a message, or email, or really anything that would trigger a blinking LED, it's gonna crash the phone cuz the driver doesn't know how to handle it.

BLN was never checked at-least on my phone. But its the screen rotation issue made me rollback to Stock ICS. I know you're very busy... but if you can guide me where to look into for that issue I will. Thanks again for ur hard work.

He needs a log cat run during the screen rotation and during start up so he can see what's going on. I don't know how to do this yet I've been looking into it but don't really know where to start. Do you know how to do this

Another thing that would be nice, the output of dmesg.
Just a brief explanation of what these things are. Logcat is basically the general android system logs as it boots up and runs. The dmesg is the log specifically of kernel messages as it boots up. This often includes details on drivers and potential errors there. ADB = android debug bridge, a way to connect to android, push and pull files, get a shell on the system, etc...
Install ADB drivers: If you've installed the drivers necessary to use Odin with your phone, it should include Samsung's ADB drivers for the phone. So I don't think you need to worry about that.
Install ADB: Not great, but not horrible ADB install tutorial
As for the phone itself, ADB is automatically enabled within recovery. When the phone is booted up as, you know... a phone... you'll want to go into Settings -> Developer Options, find "Android Debugging" and make sure it's turned on. That will enable ADB on android.
Now, some sample ADB commands to make your lives easier...
Check to make sure ADB sees your device (you should do this whenever you connect your phone to your computer, just to make sure you won't run into any errors with the commands below):
Code:
adb devices
Grab the output of dmesg (two versions, see it or redirect to a file.. you pick):
Code:
adb shell dmesg
or
adb shell dmesg > C:\name-of-some-text-file.txt
Grab the output of logcat (two versions, see it or redirect to a file.. you pick):
Code:
adb logcat
or
adb logcat > C:\name-of-some-text-file.txt
* NOTE: This will continue to grab output until either the system reboots or you hit CTRL+C on your keyboard. If you're just looking for the most recent messages, let it run for a few seconds and then CTRL+C it out.
Get a Linux shell on the system:
Code:
adb shell
Restart local ADB server (sometimes necessary... if you KNOW your phone is connected and ADB stopped recognizing it):
Code:
adb kill-server
Thanks guys!

I began setting a dB up on my comp last night I have java installed and started on the SDK but I fell asleep will work on it some more today. Now I'm going to read the links you posted and see if my research went in the right direction. One thing I will tell you is I've been spoiled by windows. Setting this up has given me flashbacks to the days of DOS. Lol
Thanks for the info and the time to point us in the right direction.

Another easy way is install Droid Explorer (http://de.codeplex.com/) Power off phone when connected. then click on the logcat console button. It will open the command window and lines keep scrolling... Don't do anything till it completely boots. then Save the file (option on cmd window).
But i think the rotation issue is in the kernel so we might have to use the cmd line provided for that. U can use it in the same app.
Currently I'm back on ICS... So once I can't do it now. Today when I get some time I will re-install and run this.

It probably is in the kernel. That's why I want the output of dmesg as well.
Incidently, it seems my initial kernel patch is winning some reviews and with any luck, I'll have it in the official cm kernel fairly soon now.

I did a search in the play Store for Log Cat, there are numerous apps in there for saving, sharing logcats, will these do the job? I certainly seems it would be much easier than ADB. Just curious.

Well I'm all in. I was cleaning things up before loading everything up and accidentally deleted all my backups . Oh well, so far I'm loving this. Hope it's good to go for a daily or I'll be setting up a new ICS install too.

Not a big deal. So far not having any issues other than rotate bug. Even notifications are working ok. I did turn off some notification light setting and I thought I saw something about softkey flash notification, but I couldn't find it again. Take me a bit to get used to the menu structure.
Everything is pretty smooth as of right now.

Unfortunately my phone randomly shut down twice today and I ended up going back to ICS for now. The first time I had foursquare open but had laid it down since the light changed and when I picked it up it was off, the second time it was just laying on the desk and when I picked it up it was off again. I did back it up before restoring ICS though. I've got a lot going on the next couple days and need a dependable device.
I might restore back to CM 10 and tinker with it when I'm not expecting phone calls.

[ROM] [UNOFFICIAL] CM 7 Daily Kang Builds: Updated 5/6/2011

Hey everyone,
I started doing daily builds from the CM 7 source code just for myself but then people asked me to share them so I figured I would post them and share them with you crackflashers out there so you have something to flash as you wait for the official nightly
This is UNOFFICIAL and is NOT supported by CyanogenMod. DO NOT SUBMIT BUG REPORTS FOR THESE BUILDS TO CYANOGEN MOD.
This is kanged straight from the Cm 7 source. It has not been changed or modified in any way, just compiled. I will try to update the 2nd post everyday around 2 or 3pm EST with a fresh link
Same installation instructions that apply to the nightlies go for these builds as well so I'll quote the text from Chris Soyars' thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058131
"Important!
It is strongly recommended that you flash clockwork recovery via NVFlash. If for some reason this or a future nightly build causes your phone to not boot up, you will not be able to boot into recovery unless you have it flashed via NVFlash.
NVFlash for Linux
NVFlash for Windows
To clear up some confusion, if you flashed your recovery via ROM Manager, you didn't actually flash a recovery. It is what we call a fakeflash, you should still probably flash with NVFlash.
Instructions
Download from http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=p999 and flash like you would any other ROM (via recovery or ROM Manager).
Be sure to backup before flashing, and of course a wipe is necessary when coming from stock.
Gapps are available from the usual places, however do not download the version that says it is for Tegra, even though this is a tegra device, as it will not flash.
Mod Edit:
Originally Posted by Mikey1022 View Post

ChrisSoyars Edit:
After skimming some of the posts in this thread, here are some things that you can expect.
What to expect
- Everything working including Wifi, GPS, Audio, Camera, Front Facing Camera
- Screen off animation is not enabled, therefore it isn't broken.
- Occasional audio problems (as far as I know they have not been fixed). If audio does not play just reboot.
- Automagical brightness weridness, this is controlled by the kernel and not userspace, even having it working is very hacky."
Again this is NOT supported by cyanogen in ANY WAY. Flash at your own risk. I take no responsibility if you brick your device. ALWAYS BACK UP BEFORE FLASHING. I wont be fixing anything in these builds or changing anything, I'll leave that to the cyanogen crew to do So if you have issues or bugs no sense in reporting them as I'm sure they will be addressed in future official CM 7 builds

Alot of ppl that are kanging g2x cm7 have the date and time as part of the file name, then when we put it on the sd card we don't get confused if we have multiple updates from diff ppl, in the same folder. just a friendly suggestion. and would help ppl out.
Oh and i did try this kang out it is getting better and better, but still some minor things that make it a non-daily driver for me, but they are small and will hopefully get resolved in the near future....but man I love CM7 on this phone!

Flashed it over nightly3, it booted Seems to be running fine, no problems encountered so far. Thanks!
well, I seem to be having the same problems I had with the nightlys. The apns delete themselves therefore removing my data connection. I have tried rebooting several times etc. I re-add the apn settings and they won't save. I can only connect to data with wifi. Idk what the deal is.

I just went out and got a new simcard and sdcard because of this and the connection is faster, as well as the apns only deleting a handfull of times. A battery pull always brings them back.

I always had that happen on all the CM7 versions I tried. I had to go in and select the network manually to AT&T and then after it failed to register on the network I selected Automatic. Then the APNs would come back and I could get online. I don't know why this works but restarting never fixed it for me, it only caused the APNs to go away.

Now I have a question:
Is this the same as the one fitsnugly shares in his twitter? Or just the same compile made by two different people?

[PROJECT][WiP] CMbins v0.3.1

Originally this was going to be something I would do for Kyorarom v0.2.0, but I will also let the general public in on my works.
I am currently going through every single file in CM6.2 and seeing if it will work on Froyo with little to no effort. Why? Well think of it as a poor mans alternative to a fully functioning CM6.2. I respect marcellusbes work 100% but there are so many people who are being impatient about the non-existant ETA of CM6.2 and CM7 (BECAUSE IT SAYS THERE IS NO ETA AND THERE SHOULD NOT NEED TO BE AN ETA), I decided to give the people half of what the want: the performance and open sourceness of CM6.2 while still retaining 100% functionality of the Samsung firmware.
Current Status
99% of the bins are working
A few CM apps are working
Some of the libs are working (but they are more just sitting in there)
--- CONSIDER THIS VERY MUCH IN BETA - THIS WILL HAVE A FEW BUGS HERE AND THERE SO PLEASE REPORT ALL OF THEM SO I CAN FIX THEM ---
Now remember, this is by no means an alternative to CM6.2, it is more of a stopgap for people who really want our phone to have CM6.2 on it.
I have been working on this all day today and haven't been able to actually test it properly, but it appears to be stable with the files I have added, and it also appears to be quicker. Not by much, but it feels a little smoother.
Why would I need this?
As I said, it's a poor mans CM6.2. It will give you 90% of the performance of CM6.2 while still giving you 100% functionality (provided I haven't broken anything) from Samsung firmware. Programs run quicker, the system responds faster, and the system just feels smoother in general. It's not like FuguTweaks or V6 Supercharger which gives you a tiny change, the goal of this is to give you a HUGE change.
What is noticably quicker?
Well I need people to tell me that, but what I have noticed is quicker is:
Screen rotate happens quicker
Scrolling through menus
Swiping around websites
System boot time
What do I need to use this?
Well I have only tested this on Kyorarom v0.2.0 alpha (unreleased), so I don't know how your results may go, but it SHOULD work on all JPS based SAMSUNG ROMS.
THIS IS NOT A PATCH FOR CM6.2! THIS IS A PATCH FOR SAMSUNG!
You will also need CWM with update.zip signing disabled. This is provided as an update.zip as there are SO MANY permissions that need to be set in the bins/xbins/libs that it would be ridiculous to tell people to run an ugly script which will probably not work on 99% of peoples computers, so an update.zip without signing is how I will do this. Why no signing? Because every guide I have followed to tell me how to sign a zip or an APK has done nothing useful. SOMEONE TELL ME HOW PLEASE!
How do I install this?
Just put this on your SD Card, go into CWM and tell it to update from an update.zip. Pretty simple. I highly recommend doing a system.img backup first though to be on the safe side in case something goes terribly wrong. Format your /system before restoring the system.img.
What should I do if I get a bug such as a force close or a random reboot
Get your phone right to just before the crash happens
Plug your phone into ADB
Go into ADB SHELL
Type logcat > /sdcard/crashlog.txt
Reproduce the crash
Wait until it has rebooted/force closed
Press Ctrl-C on ADB SHELL
Get the crashlog.txt off your SDcard and paste the last about 20-30 lines in a code box here telling me what you did to cause the crash.

Patch 0.3.1 (requires Samsung firmware, recommended to be on JPS)
CMapps 0.3.0 (should work on Samsung firmware without CMbins)
CMbins Remover (will only replace the bins with the original Samsung bins)
Patch v0.2.0 (requires Samsung firmware, recommended to be on JPS)
Busybox Fix (for in case you installed any of the patches v0.0.3 and below - NOT AN UPDATE.ZIP: THIS IS A BUNCH OF FILES WITH A README)
Please note that this may play up with some custom themes, especially large ones such as MIUI as this replaces a lot of files which these themes may be using or rely upon.

marcellusbe for his incredibly hard work on CM6.2 and CM7 which sadly seems to not be appreciated as much as it should by some of this community. Please go over to both the CM6.2 and CM7 threads and thank him for his hard work, even if you have already done so.
Change Log
v0.3.1
Removed more pointless stuff such as the etc and libs as they won't provide a performance boost. They were more decoratio.
Fixed install script which removed TW apps but didn't replace them from v0.3.0.
v0.3.0
Removed pointless bins which don't provide any performance boost, such as ping and stuff.
Fixed force close lag bug.
v0.2.0
Added the last few bins that were missing. Only bins missing are the ones that cause the system to break.
Added a few more things from etc from CM. They shouldn't cause any difference.
v0.1.1
Fixed dalvik-cache building.
v0.1.0
Removed xbin. It was causing too many problems
Added a few libs (ones that aren't in Samsung)
Added a few items from etc
Replaced a few stock Samsung apps in order to clean the system up before I remove twframework.
v0.0.3
Fixed the missing meta-inf folder in the update.zip. Sorry guys!
v0.0.2
Fixed the busybox issue. the patch removed the old busybox and replaced it with a broken one. If this doesn't fix it then 'mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/stl6 /system' and 'chmod 755 /system/xbin/*'
I was doing something like this , cm framework on jps
But you did more

If you wish to help me then by all means I'll be grateful. I am nowhere near finished as there are a few files in /system/bin that still need checked to see if they cause issues. I just went through the alphabet and if a file such as 'dexopt' caused problems then I left out all of D. However that's just an example. Dexopt is left out, but I left in the rest of D as I found it causing problems later down the track. I know I am missing Q and S. I'm gonna go through them all tomorrow.
EDIT: Not to mention I want to go through frameworks and libs and the etc folder too.
I am not sure if this is helpfull or not... I instaled the update in my phone. At the moment, only issue is that busybox installer is not working after it get superuser permisions, and then i cannot open any other app. I need to reboot my system. If i find any other issue, i will let you know.

Hmm, I might have done somethign weird with xbin. Try going into adb shell and run 'chmod 755 /system/xbin/*'. I might have to get it to set permissions in the update.zip for that folder.
EDIT: Try restore your system back to how it was prior the install of the update, and then try the other zip I just put in the first post. I think it'll be the xbin folder doing it.

I hope I can. The plan is to get everything that will work from CM6.2 in Samsung firmwares to work.
New version uploaded. See first post for details.
I fixed the busybox issue. I thought I fixed it earlier but aparently not. It was CM6.2s Busybox being in there that killed it. I put the Samsung one into v0.0.2 so it'll fix the grief it caused with version 0.0.1.
If it still causes issues then go into adb shell (or Terminal Emulator) and run this code:
Code:
mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/stl6 /system
chmod 755 /system/xbin/*

Good work, hillbeast.

And some more support from the community with donating and thanks or appriciation.
You (just caught you user reading this), could donate a little bit, so that your galaxy 3 is got tuned with great software, so it worth allmost double the price then you paid for it, because it expands with possibillities and powers.
Just click someones (dharamg3, marcelubes.. and some of all the other great programmers) donate button, type the number: 5 or 10 or 20 or 100 +++ etc, log in to paypal and DONATE!

I actually work with dharamg3 on occasion and have given him ideas for G3Mod. I just don't take credit for anything because my contributions have been very minor at best and my credit isn't deserved considering how much more he and marcell have done for our phone.

Yeah that is the entire point of the XDA: developers helping developers to make our phones incredible and help them reach their true potential.
People bash the Galaxy 3 but undreneith it's actually a really good phone with really good hardware. It's no dual-core Cortex-A9 with 1GB of DDR2 RAM or anything, but it's certainly a very good mid-range phone. It was just held back by Samsung not programming it right.
Nice vision man...best of luck
To make things easier i guess you can consult marcellusbe about what all stuff is not working in CM6.2...then u'll need to replace only those files instead of going through evry file !!

As I stated in the OP, Cyanogenmod is incomplete and is buggy. The camera doesn't work, the FM radio doesn't work, no Bluetooth, and some things are buggy. By working in the opposite direction of moving to Cyanogenmod with small steps by using the working components from it, we get a balance.of speed and functionality which is what a lot of people have been moaning about all this time since CM went alpha.
Again, huge respect to marcell for getting it this far. This is a huge achievement from him.
Also here is the mediafire link for v1 so people can grab meta-inf and insert it into the v2. I will fix this in v3 later today.

This thread is for the latest unofficial builds of CyanogenMod 7 for the Samsung Galaxy S 4G. This version is based only on upstream CM7 (currently CM 7.2.0 RC1). We have not made any theming changes, apk changes, etc. It's exactly how it would be on any other phone that receives CM7 nightlies (usually just slightly more broken). CyanogenMod 7 is stable enough on this phone where it can be used as a daily driver, provided a feature that you require is not broken. That said, you may encounter issues, so don't rely on everything. This is a beta port but we're getting very close to being ready to start the process of becoming official.
This thread is for development. If you have a problem and don't post logs (where relevant) or provide any detail, I will ignore you.
Please report issues with proper grammar, thorough explanation, and speak in a respectful manner. If you are reporting an issue that has already been reported, post some logs (logcat, dmesg, kmsg, last_kmsg, etc).

WiFi reception is reportedly poorer than the KJ6-based ROMs. (Please report if the new wifi driver has helped!)
If you find more issues, please check with CM7 gerrit before you think it's a problem with something we've done.
If you find an issue, please provide any relevant logs. It's also preferable to post it to our github issue tracker.
If the error is occuring in /proc/kmsg or /proc/last_kmsg, it's definitely kernel related. Post it on the Kernel Issue Tracker
If the error is showing up in logcat, chances are it can be fixed through modification of our device tree. Post it on the Device Issue Tracker.

Happy to see this stay up.
Running R6 currently because I found it had better battery life than R7, even though (maybe because?) it doesn't properly report which apps burned down the battery (Settings->Applications->Battery shows 33/33/31 for the Cell standby/Wifi/Phone idle, with 2% for display and 2% for a game). With R6, from 6am-9pm (15 hours), battery goes down about 50% with moderate scattered usage including some games that burn fast battery.
If any logs are desired with either R6 or R7, just let me know what to run. Thanks.
Glad to see that you are still going to be contributing! That's awesome. You guys have been doing excellent work!

Not that I don't have access to *nix. but will there be a build to install that is similar to the way everyone is used to such as CWM, Basically a windows version?

Thank you very much for working on this build and to whoever helps out with it! you are a credit to the community.

Even on the Galaxy S, you have to heimdall the zImage(boot.img... same thing) as the first step to moving over.
After the heimdall step is done, you basically install cm7 through cwm.
We don't have RomManager/GooManager support... yet, but that will be worked out later.

on topic: didn't want to leave CM7, but i'll be back once bryan comes back
After using it for two days, I'd say the the rom is very stable. Battery is relatively great. I'm not having the wifi or 4G issues that people are talking about. USB transfer worked for me once yesterday, but now when I try to hit the message about connecting to the computer (can't remember what it says exactly) in the notification menu, it doesn't open the option. Other than that though, everything is great.
Also, I think FB's instructions for installing the rom should be pasted here. It's what I used, and it seems to have caused zero issues.

I think it might be, because the partition layout differences between bml and mtd, but at that point the real differences only exist beyond the system partition.

Bluetooth worked until I enabled debug, then it did not. Gallery did NOT work, until I enabled debug, then it did. Camera still crashes gallery. Torch still crashes. I cant pull a logcat because adb keeps saying device is offline. I'll try a reboot, see if that helps once I get home

Thanks for the offer on the mirror... I have 2 sites I use, one main and one just in case...lol... But you are welcome to upload it and post the link... I'll include it in the dl section.
As for your issues, I'm tracking the camera/gallery issue and of course wifi. as for data, have you tried using a different radio? Torch is working fine for me. Try downloading/flashing again. Might have gotten a bad flash/download (doubtful, but let's try it). Also, has the log changed or is about the same?
for the logcat to work change the type of usb connection to camera. It worked for me.

Go to System settings/About phone and tap Build number several times until it tells you that you are a developer. Then you will have developer options and can now enable adb debugging...
Hey Thomas there is a fix for the camera crash on gerrit
http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/46310/
Its for 4.3 but should work with 4.2 same logic

For those still getting device offline in adb. my n4 does this every time I switch between mine and my wife's. First make sure SDK is up to date. Secondly if it still does it. Tap the USB debugging option in developer options on and off again several times and the dialog box asking to accept the computer should come up. . Its not a for sure way to get it to work but this usually works for me.

The patch is already present... but I'm going to add it to the boardconfig.mk and see if it works...
I'm not sure if all of it was there but there were changes in the kernel and common folders as well as v media and display caf
They discuss them in detail here

[ROM DEV][UNOFFICIAL][OVATION][EMMC] Slimkat 4.4.4 build 8.1 *Experimental/Testing*

ROM:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/8...-4.4.4.build.8.1-UNOFFICIAL-20141001-2013.zip
MD5
http://www.mediafire.com/download/o...build.8.1-UNOFFICIAL-20141001-2013.zip.md5sum
***********SOURCE************
Kernel:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/oc2b51rpgblasbd/linux_omap_ovation.tar.gz
(Yellow Kernel v14 + exfat filesystem added)
Miscellaneous build files:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/0oszo0esv70xig0/slim.tar.gz
Known Issues:
Hardware 'n' key isn't mapped to do anything.
Although kernel supports f2fs, I haven't found a good way to incorporate f2fs into the ramdisk/init files to actually support mounting of f2fs filesystems yet (I'll have to take a look at how other slim devices do it).
I believe quake is broken (easy to remove under slimcenter).
Exfat fs remains untested (If anyone has a large sdcard...)
None of these issues have I spent much time on...
Only lightly tested. No warranties or guarantees.
A terminal app can be found in /system/addon.d/app
Thanks for building this for Ovation. I'll try it over the weekend.

OMGOMGOMGOMG. i am so glad to see this. i run slim on all my devices, and now the nook? hell yeah
thanks jon
Could someone post the zip download caption? Something like Slim-ovation-4.4.4.build.8.1-UNO..."
I won't be testing this at this stage, but I wanted to thank you for working on it. There's a good chance I will switch to it when it is more polished and stable, especially with f2fs support.
I have it up and running. All appears well thus far. Pretty snappy
Lookin good here (FYI I'm using TWRP 2.8). One question, I can't find where to turn on Advanced Power Menu features, like Reboot to Recovery. Yes, I activated Dev Options.

Go to settings/security/device administration/advanced reboot and choose either hide on lockscreen or show always. However, rebooting to recovery does not seem to work. When selecting it from the power menu, it just performs a regular device reboot.
Haven't tested everything but other than the reboot to recovery not working, the build seems pretty solid. Will continue to test further. I installed using TWRP 2.7.1, also flashed slim gapps 4.4.4 for build 8, which Slim team recommends. I used the mini gapps as opposed to full, I'd rather download the specific apps from PS as I need them.
OP, thanks again for giving us a new rom for a device where unfortunately, there are very few choices. :good: :good:

How does this ROM compare to Succulent's or 10.2 roms? I've kept my wife's Nook on 10.2 since it's been the most stable ROM I've found. Tried CM11 several times with her hating the builds due to FC and reboots. I've always reverted back to backup of 10.2 rom.

I haven't had any reboots so far, just the browser FC's which seem to be pretty universal across every rom i've tried. I'm going to play around some more...
Have been using it for a few hours, looks really good. Exfat is working for me too. Will take a look at the sources later, might try f2fs at some point. Have you thought about setting up a github ?
Happy to NOT see the theme engine in the list of running apps ! This is awesome !

Exfat support lost after unmount
I unmounted my 64 Gb microSD (exFat format) to copy some videos onto it (physically removed the card so I could put it in my PC's card reader). When I re-inserted the card, the nook couldn't mount it, saying the filesystem was unsupported. No problem mounting & reading the card after reboot. I suspect it's just something in the rc.init ? Will look into it later...
How would one map that hardware button?
Great rom, but force of habit to hit N instead of soft keys.
Also, I just like hardware, too.
Volume buttons are switched currently, too. Mapping them to the normal up/down and a working N will make this amazing.

Battery status says discharging (settings and qs tile), but the charging animation is working properly.

The charging indicators and animations seem to be fine for me...and my volume is as expected in landscape mode. Wierd. I'm using Nova, are you?

Charging indicator working after restart.
Weirdest thing is... the N key is mapped to home in the keylayout. Why does the kernel not read it?
And also, it can wake the device.
Probably the easiest way to fix the 'n' key mapping would be to do a diff between /system/usr/keylayout between this rom and say, the 4.4.3 build. Or just change the files out altogether.
I believe I gave all the necessary source files to recreate the build as I had it, if anyone wants to work on it further. I could have spent an extra day and made it build 8.2, but I wanted to work on other things (changed out my harddrive immediately after posting the rom). In the next upcoming weeks I'll be experimenting with building several other rom flavors and perhaps do a little more kernel work as well.
Hey, wherever the muse leads...

I just tried replacing both keylayouts and keychars and it didn't seem to help the button mapping.
