-> Sensitive Buttons and Internal SD - LG Optimus 3D

Hey guys,
I just bought a O3D, which is excellent. I had a motorola’s Defy which it was a great equipment. Ok here we go, I already looked for a lot about how to keep the sensitive buttons always on when the screen is on too, but couldn’t find it, does anyone know how to fix that?
Another question, how can I make the cellphone recognize the SD card as the main memory and not the intern SD of 5GB that comes with the equipment?
Thank you

Use Directory bind for mapping app/game folders (only solution) to SD Card. NovAndroid Kernel (0.1) allows you to keep the Buttons litas long as display is on.

[Q] Please help data recovery on HD7 - desperate!

2 days ago my son was born and I used my HTC HD7 to take all pictures and videos of him and my wife, these were the most amazing and precious moments of my life and I captured them all on my phone.
My wife and I both have identical HD7 phones, last night I took my phone home and charged a spare battery for her, today I took this to hospital and we both turned our phones off and waited until the "goodbye" sreen had vanished, and then swapped the batterys over in the phones so she had the fully charged battery and I had the low/quarter full battery. When she switched on her phone, everything was fine, but when I switched on mine I saw some screen flash up saying something about "pressing the volume buttons to erase your phone" I paniced at this point and did a stupid thing and took out the battery again. After I put it back in it booted up and gave me the "seup windows phone" screen. At this point I switched my phone off and havent swiched it back on since.
Is there any hope of recoverying the pictures and videos? Apps, contactacts etc I dont care about, but these are the most important moments of my life I want to recover. I have no idea what happened, but at the moment I am very upset.
I am an IT technician myself, and in the past it has been all stored on the memory card, but there is no way to remove the memory card on this phone. I am willing to destroy the phone to preserve this data if needed, Is there any way I could remove the memory card? I could try some data recovery software if this is the case.
Please help, the might be a simple way to sort this I haven't been able to find. I have now been up 36 hours as my wife has had a lot of complications and lost a lot of blood last night and ended up having a transfusion. Sorry to be so personal, but I am really desperate to save these photos.
you might have accidentally held the volume button when you turned on the device, and that triggered that factory reset feature.
I have done this accidentally with my trophy as well when i was running late for work, but instead of removing the battery, i held down the power button and tried again, but when it turned on it didnt show me a setup one where you type in your windows live id, instead my one was an image of a windows phone suggesting to connect to a laptop via USB cable, again i didnt panic and turned off the screen and held down the volume button and the power button and i did trigger the factory reset in purpose, once i was at the factory reset screen, pressing any other button (camera key, and sleep/wake/power key) apart from the volume keys disables the reset feature and will continue to boot to wp7.
I dont know if Im helping, but thats how I resolved my situation.
How to remove memory card
Hi Herr_ando,
Firstly Congratulations on becoming a father
Secondly do not worry all is not lost, if you cannot get the handset to boot normally you can remove the memory card (without voiding the warranty too) A lot of people figured this out when they had fist purchased the HD7 and have since used the following video clip to help them upgrade the memory card size:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EcGUX3NwnQ
I have done this myself but had trouble when reading the memory card via a dongle (this is due to the differing format used by WP7) the way i got round this was either by putting the memory card into an old N97 nokia phone and using the pc software to remove the pictures from it or to use a flash drive recovery app found via google.
Hope this helps,
Creamy
It doesn't sound like you actually performed a factory reset so it's probably fine... but if you want to be safe, pull out the SD card like the previous post says. It might make you factory reset after putting it back in, but if you already save your pics and videos, who cares, right?

It's okay to take out the SD card and put it back as long as the phone isn't turned on in the meantime and nothing is written to the SD card.
So it's okay if you use the SD card to recover photos and put it back in, as long as the phone stays off in this time.
@herr_ando: Congratulations on becoming a father!
Hi guys, thanks for the congratulations.
I tried removing the memory card and plugged it into a card reader, no joy reading this card, in fact it wouldnt even detect. I also tried putting it into my Toshiba Camileo, which I know deffo supports SDHC cards of this size, was unable to see it at all.
Also tried it in a new laptop, with a micro > full size adaptor, no joy, and a blackberry 8520 with mass storage enabled still cant read this card, when I choose disable mass storage it tells me the memory card isn't formatted.
I know Windowsphone7 files on the memory card isn't supposed to be accessable outside the OS but this makes data recovery impossible for me.
If this was a PC HDD or standard SD card I could run some data recovery software, and try to recover these files even if the card has been formatted. but I have no idea how to do this for this card... any ideas?

Sadly, you need a Nokia cell as stated above, to read the card. Their OS is the only one that supports the partition format & password protection. I have 2 SD Cards that won't work on anything other than a Nokia cell because of this. They came out of a Nokia MusicXpress & Nuron my room mate had.
Hi mate
So you reckon if I buy a Nokia 5230 or similar I should be able to read this card? I should be able to pick one of these up for £35 or so, well worth it to get these photos back.
I have no experiance of nokia phones since the old days of my 3310. Do i need to use nokia software or does this present itself as a removable hdd in windows?
Many thanks.

Creamy stated the n97. I'm not family with all this as I never done it, but there's a lot of threads regarding this. People using Nokia phones to unlock & reformat SD card so they'll work for other devices. As to what devices this work on, I'm not sure, but as long as the card hasn't been erased yet, it's possible that a Nokia phone will be able to read the card & transfer files to your pc. You can look through the forum for more information from people with experience. My experience only deals with trying to get these 2 SD cards working with other devices & will result in for formatting the cards.
NOTE: Also, I do believe you need the nokia desktop software install to transfer file, but am not sure. Another thing, if you do find the sd card is empty, maybe reformatting it in the nokia phone, you'll be able to directly put the sd card in your pc & use your partition recovery tools on it.
Best Digital Media Recovery Software
Hi,
Congratulations on becoming a father!
If the memory card is not recognized in the PC or it is impossible to access the data on it, the controller on the card is damaged. There is only one way to get the data back, digital media recovery and directly access their raw data with a programable digital media recovery tool. Have a look at: RecoverDataTools DigitalMediaRecoveryTool

[Q] Runbo x5 storage and keyboard input question.

Hello all!
I have a runbo x5 mobile as work mobile.
first question, the phone have internal memory abour 500mb and another 2gb called phone storage, and also SD card.
Now to the problem, I cant move apps to sd card just between internal and phone storage. photos saves to SD card.
Im sure there is other phones whit this type of storage solution but have serched forum and cant find any.
then the other problem, there is alot of language for system. And I use swedish so far so good but when typing the spelling and input keyboard there is no swedish, not to big problem tho there is 3 keys missing åäö, you can get them by long press a or o but takes time when you type text msg.
So can you get more language to the phone or is it just w8 for update.
system runs a clean 4.0.4 android, vanilla some may call it.
hope someone has a tip or trix for this

Try and test app 2 sd(belive its called something else now) and see if the app can move the apps you installed to the sd card. I used it before with succes on phones with low internal memory. And try with a third party keybord(swiftkey, slideit) or long press on space to change the language on the keybord. If it dosen't come up a selection go into the settings for input and keybords and install swedish as language. Thinking of getting this phone aswell and if you have any input on the phone it would be appreciated.
Hoppas du får det att funka

Brilliant whit the keyboard, now åäö works and swe dictionary works fine :good:
Still no luck whit app2sd (appMgr3) that app just tells you what app you can move to sd or phone, and when you press a app you get derected to systemsettings/apps/phone storage. You can chose app and move it but just to Phone storage or internal Storage. so eather built in SD card or phone memory, not SD card in SD card slot. will search for more apps and diffrent type of app handling, tho i dont know if its possible.
You can move movies and photos whit any file manager to SD card but not the app, and only 2gb mem on phone.
otherwise the phone is a great one, i work as a farmer and therefor I need a rugged phone.
good sound quality on calls loud and clear, and all I have talked to says the noice canceller works good as well so they dont hear noice in backround (the phone has 2 mics one for backround noice and one to pick up what you say)
the phone is fast do to "vanilla" android and overall strong signal to gsm/3g net.
battery is amazing, heavy usage i still have over 60% left on battery in the end of a day, normalusage (5-10 calls @ 3-5 min, some sms and check mail) normaly uses about 10% battery in 8 hours.
just ask if there is something you wonder.

Sorry for not replying to the original questions, but it's related to the phone.
I am really interesting in getting one, especially for outdoor usage. I would love to know what GPS chipset is mounted on the unit, because I could not find any info about it.
Since it's probably impossible to discover that , I would kindly ask you: how long it takes for it to get a GPS fix with no GPS-A aid?
As far as you could tell, is the signal stable in woods and in canyons, even urban ones? I mean... road with tall buildings. Do you get an accurate coordinates reading there?
As far as you could test.
Thank you very much!

Hi,
I have been using the Runbo X5 for two weeks now - so this is not an extensive test.
I use it quite a lot to play ingress, and must admit the GPS has some hickups.
Sometimes it finds me in a few seconds, sometimes it needs a few minutes to find my position.
I had a HTC EVO 3D for 2 years before buying the Runbo, and while Runbo's GPS is clearly usable, it seems to me it has more glitches than the HTC's.
Again, I tested only one Runbo and it has only been for two weeks.

The GPS antenna is pretty good but it has been placed in a dumb position, that is bottom left.
It is thought to be kept horizontal, to be used as a car GPS.
This is junk for an OUTDOOR phone - I want to geocache with it, and the like. Just try it: hold your phone with your right hand when you have a good satellite fix.
Then swap hand.
Your fix quality will degrade instantly.
It is a oudoor phone for right-handed only.

If you still have this issue: I solved it by modifing two entries in /etc/vold.fstab files (you need to be root to do that). Just find the uncommented lines containing "scard" and "sdcard2" and swap those two words, then reboot. It worked for me and now my external SD is seen as the "external storage" as expected.
Remember to move your data from the internal storage to the SD before rebooting or apps would not find their data anymore - they will search for it into the SD now.
If you just want my copy of vold.fstab I can attach it here.
Cheers

[Q] What is the LOST.DIR on my MicroSD?

More a curiosity than a genuine issue but. Ever since I've had a micro SD in my tablet I've had a LOST.DIR added to it which if removed is put back on when I insert it.
Anyone got time to explain what it is. Probably very simple but was just curious a quick search didn't really show much.

Here what I found for you;
"LOST.DIR is created by the fsck utility (fsck = filesystem check)
it contains inconsistent data which was found during the fs check.
This can happen if you not properly reboot or power off the device, or if writing cycles can not be completed. "
So basically if you forget to eject it through the notifications tray, and instead just pop it out. (Like me.)
I was actually wondering the same thing. xD

[Q] Spotify on SD card

So I just got my Z3 and a 32gb sd card, and I would really like to have my music collection on my sd card. I found out how you do it but you need a hardware menu key for that.
Do you guys have any idea how I can store my offline tracks on my sd card?

First uninstall Spotify from your phone
Then before you reinstall it make your your 32GB card has more free space in it than the internal card. Spotify will automatically create it's offline storage folder on the SD Card with the most space at the time of installation.
That's it. Nothing more complicated than that and it will create this folder on the SD Card even on Kit Kat Android.
Even with a hardware menu key it still wouldn't be possible.
This phone hates SD cards altogether unfortunately. No option to transfer apps to sd card, no way to transfer things using 3rd party apps, and most annoyingly of all, you can't even transfer content to it over USB either, as either the file explorer crashes or Sony's own media go app crashes.
Simply put, the phone does not have permission to access the SD card for anything other than the built in apps, i.e. file explorer.
I had to use one of those sandisk usb to micro usb flash drives just to get my music on there. 2MB/s read/write speeds are NOT fun when it involves 20GB of data.

This is just plain incorrect information. See my post above.
I have Spotify, PocketCasts and tTorrent Pro all accessing and writing to my external SD Card on my unrooted Xperia Z3. Once the app being installed creates a folder on the SD Card then it can write to that folder.
Thank you G1032, it worked, I think.

Could be different for each region then I guess.
As for the stock unbranded UK one I have, it just doesn't allow it at all. Same was true for the previous 2 defective Z3s I've had. The whole thing is botched for me.

The first one had a very poor screen, the bottom half was very bright compared to the top, as if the panel was bent showing more backlight through at the bottom. It also had a broken wifi/bluetooth chip. Wifi signal was unobtainable on my AC router in a location where all my other devices had full reception. Bluetooth dropped out when I put it in my pocket or covered the back of the phone with my hand. On top of all that, the battery drain was ridiculous. On 20% brightness I was struggling to get through the day even with many features and sync disabled.
The replacement had a faulty camera button, so I didnt even bother to go any further with it. The screen was far better in colour and contrast though compared to the first, which was strange. No horrible backlight bleed at the bottom though.
The one I'm using now is almost perfect aside from the top speaker crackling/buzzing. There is small backlight bleed at the bottom, but it isn't bad enough to make the screen uneven like the first.
If the speaker becomes more of an issue, I think I'm just gonna return and stick it out with the Moto G till the Note 4 drops in price (should be about 400 quid by christmas).
Your camera issue sounds software related though. Similar to the SD issue I have probably.

If it does it every photo then you certainly should get one. Sounds very annoying! Think I've seen a couple of people on here report similar issues.
Don't think I've seen a phone launch with so many different issues at once.

Internal storage unmounted?

Well first of all hi to all, and thanks for taking the time of reviewing this,
I cant seem to find an answer anywhere so literally any information on the subject would be apreciated.
I own a ntt docomo fujitsu arrow s, The phone has been working flawlessly for so long
so much that i just never consider even doing a backup, now im literally facing hell
Well ill try to explain my problem also keep in mind im not really good with android, but i fix pcs so i get some stuff.
Okay ill start, one day my phone was working as ussualy and i went to the gallery as always and i had the external storage not available message,
so then i went to storage and it reflected that my internal storage was 0.0g.
So the thing is, apparently my data is still there, my apps are there, my wallpaper didnt switched, just like my ringtones, also if i go to
clean master and in settings-apps my apps and the storage i had before the incident was exact, as in i had 18g of used memory and it still reflects me that,
but certain apps like file explorer dont show anything , i literally dont have anything in my storage, idk what to think of this.
Also ill post some extra information because if anyone have any info i guess you will need more info from my side.
If i connect the phone to usb storage , it reflects me my internal storage is at 0.0g and nothing is inside.
Ive never rooted and never even tried.
I didnt install anything lately that may cause a hardware change.
The phone didnt fall, didnt got wet.
i think the sd card was in the internal storage, as an emulation, i thik idk much about that. (but i never used one, just the internal storage)
If i try to mount an sd it just doesnt happens the only thing i can do sd wise is erase all data in the sd
So basically now idk what to do, i wish i could keep my stuff, idk its still there, i guess the term for this is my storage unmounted, so using adb to mount it back would work?
idk i also did the putting it in tmp and disconecting it and nothing im literally going insane and have slept like 2 hours per day, so thanks for taking your time to atleast review my problem
also sorry for the bad formatting, english isnt my native language.
