OK, so finally I recovered my phone from flashing an unsigned system.img on the 67.21.125 ICS (The second version).
I'll go into detail later but here is what I did:
First, I flashed everything included in my fxz minimal.fastboot files.
Second, I flashed the 2.3.6 boot, system, and webtop partition (DON'T FLASH ANY OTHERS RATHER THAN THE boot, system, and grfs img's or you will hard brick your device).
Third, I entered recovery and applyed the first ICS leak, then it went into fastboot and complained about recovery and cdt so I flashed it from the minimal fxz's. And then I re-applyed the ics leak and then Something unreal happened, it booted :laugh::laugh:.
Last, I OTA'ed to the .125 leak again and everything was back to %100 normal.
And thats the end of the story, someone can write a tutorial from there .
Cheers!!!
PS: I'm not responsible if you bricked your device for good becuase of this, SO DON'T BLAME ME!!!

Nice job!!!

So to make this clear, you found a way to go back to 2.3.6 from the second ics leak? Im not really understanding this.

Accually, It is not downgrading to gb but getting ics working again. If you try to boot gb instead of going to recovery, then you would boot loop.
So if your bricked, then this is the solution to fix it.

Well, a few things are not so clear yet - give us a little while to try and come up with a more direct way - or for tcf to put together a guide - but this is my understanding (please correct me or add if necessary, tcf):
He's talking about the minimal fxz package he put together from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1912035 (which only has a linux script I believe - but you could flash them one by one through the command prompt in windows - or, we could get a batch file made up also).
Then, the system.img, recovery.img, and grfs.img only from 2.3.6 (found in the 2.3.6 fxz from here or the same are in the leak#1 2.3.6 fxz).
Then he applied the leak#1 ota package.
Got thrown back into fastboot.
Flashed the cdt.bin again from the minimal fxz package (which is actually from ICS leak#2/soak package) -- but not sure if he flashed recovery.img from there again also..
Then he re-applied the leak (#1?) again - and it booted to ICS.
So, I am not sure about the timing of things or how it exactly worked out yet, but I notice the linux script for the minimal fxz package doesn't have a reboot-bootloader before the cdt.bin flash - also there should probably be a pause after the reboot-bootloader lines to allow it to reboot completely before attempting to flash the next file. That may be partial reason for the multiple flashings of the cdt.bin.. but, again, maybe not - maybe it's all in some magical order... though a few of us will be digging a bit deeper into this I'm sure.
Thanks again to tcf38012 for pushing this thought of upgrading back to the leak - we were on that path at one time, but the pieces of the puzzle weren't fitting together..

Easy 'nuff. Download FB's KD1 one-click ROM.
Make sure the phone is plugged into the PC, put your phone in download mode (check the wiki link in my signature), and double-click the ROM you just downloaded (it's a jar file which is a Java file). If you have Java installed (most people do) then it should "just work."
WARNING: You will lose all of your data, apps, contacts, etc (but not stuff on your sdcard). Make sure you have a backup of things you want to keep (if you're synching your contacts with T-Mobile or Google, you'll get 'em back), then install the ROM.
Problem! It booted but now its a black screen! Bricked?
Run the one-click again & make sure that flash bootloaders is checked.

Ok, that's good. Let's at least get you back where you were
Go grab bhundven's Fully Back-To-Stock ROM. It is also a Heimdall one-click but will put you back on stock KJ6 GB.
Quick question - were you on stock KJ6 before? If not, did you have CWM installed and was voodoo enabled?

Ok so were getting closer. It botted. nut the problem is when it first boots its like a whole bunch of clorful lines like a broken.
Bootloader problem.
Read the thread carefully: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358498
Step 4: Run "flash" once. Let the phone reboot itself. Don't touch the phone until it boots into android. If it works and you want to flash bootloaders.

[SOLVED]Recovery image won't flash

I was doing a stock restore on my phone (manually with fastboot as I was in Ubuntu.) and erased system and userdata and recovery, then flashed system (no need to do boot on my case) and tried recovery, but it kept giving me preflash validation failure. Now I have no stock recovery?!?! This could end up being a problem at some point, so How can I get it back. It wouldn't go as part of the stock restore scrip yet. Haven't tried RSDlite.
Bump, really need help here.

my phone works fine. I just have no stock recovery on it, which may be a problem down the line. RSD does not try to flash recovery and it won't flash with manual fastboot, so I don't know how to get it back.
You mentioned manual "fastboot", now you are using the moto-fastboot utility, correct?
You might try both of these things, one at a time though:
1) Try and flash the device_tree.bin file with the moto-fastboot util, then try and flash them in this order - system.img, boot.img, recovery.img, radio.img, cdrom, preinstall.img, webtop (grfs.img)
2) Restore the backup that some others had to do to get going again after I think something similar.

Now if you are flashing the 2.3.5 over 2.3.6 or even ICS, you still have to replace those files the same as you would for RSDlite.

Let me know which phone you go to.... I am also looking for something else. I am keeping the A2, so that I can really tear it apart.
Right now it looks like the Galaxy S III will be out soon, so I might be looking into that. I will definitely NOT have another Moto phone though, after this... now if Google guts them and they actually produce a true open phone, then maybe.

I would say give it a try, but, I would have a computer ready that can run RSDlite.... My macbook pro has windblows 7 installed in bootcamp just for this purpose. Previous to this phone, I NEVER had a need to actually BOOT windblows (never had bootcamp working), I have it running in VMs on my ubuntu and my macs/hackintoshes, for other things.
YOU MUST NOT RUN RSDLITE IN VMWARE!!!! I tried and it was dismal, I had to exchange that phone it was so bad, that it would not even power on, and RSDlite said success.

Same here...was considering the HTC One X but man, the non-removable battery and lack of microSD slot are deal breakers for me since 12gb of useable space just won't cut it. So i'm holding out hope the SGS3 comes out here by July and is around the $250 price point on contract.

[HOW TO] get your AT&T phone onto ICS Leak #1 - Process Updated 11/11/2012

Ok everyone the leak is here!
I have tested it all day and it works very well, very smooth.
Don't post here if you are having issues with this leak itself. If you have issues with the process then by all means post in here with the issue.
So this is a how to with all the files needed being posted in here as well.
1) FXZ back to full 100% stock 2.3.6, ONLY if you were ON GB to begin with!!! If you started on the ICS OTA, then do not attempt this, you will Brick!!!
2) Download the file below called Blur_Version.55.13.25.MB865.ATT.en.US.zip and copy it to the root of your SDcard (it does not matter how it gets there)
3) Boot into stock recovery (power off, then while the phone is off hold both the Vol up and Vol down button, right in the middle, then hold the power button until you see the boot menu, then highlight recovery with the Vol down button, and select with the Vol up button).
4) Get to the recovery menu (you should see an android with an exclamation point, at this point) by holding the Vol up and Vol down button, then the menu will pop up, select install from /sdcard, then select the Blur file from the root of your sdcard, and tell it to flash it. You will flash a new recovery and see a droid laying down with it's belly open and red exclamation point, this is normal, just hit both Vol up and Vol down again to get the menu and select to flash from sdcard again and choose the same Blur file as before.
5) Boot into ICS, and root using the zip below, you will connect the phone to your computer and use the root.bat (unzip this folder to your desktop) for windows and root.sh for linux/mac.
Files:
ICS OTA:
http://www.androidfilehost.com/main...man/Blur_Version.55.13.25.MB865.ATT.en.US.zip
MD5sum: 5bd615584406ba726ad7d49a225dd6f1
ICS root:
http://www.androidfilehost.com/main/Motorola_ATRIX_2_Developers/jimbridgman/A2_ICS_root.zip
MD5sum: 7cd5a0896a8be580b5a379dff408d0ad
Fxz back to 2.3.5 from ICS, ONLY USE THIS METOD:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1805975
Please do not post anything in this thread but install issues. DO NOT ASK IF YOU SHOULD UN-ROOT OR IF YOU CAN STAY ROOTED, OR IF YOU DID THE FXZ YESTERDAY ARE YOU OK. Follow the instructions above, or don't if you don't you will NOT get support.
Note: I am not responsible if you bootloop. brick or wreck your phone, or if your girl leaves you cause you play with your phone too much because of this. You are doing this of your own free will!
You will most likely not be able to get the "real" OTA while on this leak, and since the BL is going to be the same, you may not be able to install the "real" OTA at all, so when it comes out you will need to give the devs time to make it work for anyone who installed this. Again no complaints about this either, your dev team will find a way to make it work. You just need to give us the time needed when it comes out if there are any issues.

THANKS! Also should the OTA be bigger than 29mb? NEVER MIND
After install this ICS leak, can we come back to 2.3.6 using Atrix2Bootstrap?
Quick question.. If I fkz from 2.3.6 wont we get the "invalid CG version error"? There's a thread to fix that but it says it takes stock recovery away (which is needed to flash the OTA). How do i downgrade?

Dx, you can find very good instructions on how to flash the fxz in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650

Can't access the settings section of my Atrix 2

So I've been reading the noob guide all day (To which, literally nothing in it has worked for me, I just want to get my phone onto ICS) and in the process of attempting to start over, I launch my phone into AP fastboot and it always says Flash Failure, RSD Lite doesn't recognize the phone other than being connected, and when I boot back into my phone normally, I can't even get to the settings section, it just gives me an error
First things first, i am assuming you on AT&T?
And are you currently on the ics leak?
Need to know these things to help ya.
But don't fret, this is fixable.

I'm going to sound like a total tool, but I actually figured out what I was doing wrong, I forgot to patch my FXZ file so it just kept messing up everytime. Once I did that everything went flawlessly
my next issue to tackle is to understand how bootmenu works and how I "reboot" into it
otherwise I guess this topic is pointless/can be closed

[Q] maybe i brick my phone

i have a motorola atrix 2 at&t(MB865).my phone was 2.3.6
1. I try to flash this firmware 5.5.1-EDEM-28-37-MEARET_cfc.xml.zip from this site http://sbf.droid-developers.org/edison/list.php with rsd.at 7/20 rsd was writting fail.i tried again with same result.after this my phone had problem with boot.the only method for boot was "vol down"+"vol up"+"power" and after i was pressing "Normal powerup".after all these my phone booted normal and worked normal.
2.after i flashed the Blur_Version.55.13.25.MB865.ATT.en.US.zip (ics) from this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1779968 and my phone was working normal but with the same problem with the boot.
3.after i tried to use this utillity http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1805975 .this process had some failure and after this my phone is unable to boot.
with "vol down"+"vol up"+"power" i can choose normal power up, but phone stucks at boot image.in addition i can choose recovery and phone boots at recovery mode.i choose to update from sd with this file Blur_Version.55.13.25.MB865.ATT.en.US.zip but my phone writes that its unable to flash this.
4.after i try to flash InlineFlashing_edison_5.5.175.16_cfc_p3_APBP_CID28 5.zip with rsd.the rsd wrote fail at 3/20 in addition i use the replace.zip with the same result.
5.after i try again the 3rd step with same results.
can anyone help me?
This whole mess started when you tried to flash MEARET firmware on your AT&T phone. NEVER mix firmware!
And trying recovery at this point is not going to work, as the ICS zip is just a large patch file for 2.3.6. And since it failed on the fxz, a portion of your system is missing so ICS won't install. You need to fxz back.
What step is the script falling at? A screenshot would be helpful.
And for the future, please post questions in the Q&A form.

you mean at 3rd step?
sorry.please move this thread at q&a
Yes the script from step three is what's going to save you here.
But we need to know where it's failing at.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
i can see that problem is with cbt, recovey and cdrom partition.
Uh oh.
Which ICS version did you install? Please show need the thread.
I need to know which leak it was.

Blur_Version.55.13.25.MB865.ATT.en.US.zip
Well I hate to tell you man. But you are soft bricked until we find an fxz for ICS.
Recovery and cdrom are failing because cdt.bin isn't flashing. And we haven't found a fix for this yet.
Although the strange thing is that this shouldn't be happening on the first leak... but it is...
So you're bricked mate.

ok, i will wait.
thanks.
but please explain to me.i had a motorola a1200 and a siemens sx1.when i flashed a firmware, all the flash memory erased and new data wrote at flash.if i had bootloader, all was fine.the only method to brick a phone was to replace the battery when flash the bootloader(or flash false bootloader).
at A2, why when i write a new bootloader and new mbr(and partition table?) is necessary to flash the same or newer edition of firmware?this is because bootloader is locked?
i thought when i flash a new firmware, all the flash memory erased and writes new data(at the begining the bootloader, after mbr with partition table, after the image(i think this is the kernel of linux) and all other the data)

If you did the OTA ICS update you WILL NOT be able to flash the FXZ back. We have no way out of this right now. And if you are bootlooping or stuck on the splash screen then you are bricked. Sorry mate.

Whiteboi, thanks for your consideration of others but PLEASE, research before you try to help others. For one thing, he is on an MB865 AT&T phone and therefore MUST download the firmware for an AT&T phone. The international versions of the A2 are completely different, including radio, WiFi and the like. NEVER mix firmwares.
Also, he already flashed international firmware which is what got him into this predicament in the first place. He also installed the OTA update for ICS for which there is NO GOING BACK. Read the threads I gave him and educate yourself man.
I applaud you generosity, but if he wasn't already bricked, your advice would have surely/quite possibly bricked him. Be careful man.
Read, read, read!

Yeah man, if you OTA'd to ICS then I can almost guarantee it will fail at step 3 of the flash process which is the cdt.bin. If you are using the script it will also fail on the recovery portion and the cdrom portion. These are both because of the cdt.bin As of right now, we have no fix for this. Once again, this is the reason we are recommending people to ONLY use the first leak, and not OTA to ANYTHING unless it's 2.3.6 GB. Once again, reference the links I sent you.
You're bricked sir.
Until we find an ICS fxz. Which might be A LONG TIME.
Time to get a replacement/new phone.
