(Q) how do I flash a radio??? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Was lurking thru here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1694012...I want to flash the 2.29 one. It said to just flash from recovery... Is that right? I know that flashing radios is more risky that's why I'm asking u all so I won't brick my phone since I can't seem to find any answers.

Instructions:
1) Copy zip file to SD Card 2) Boot into Recovery 3) Flash 4) Reboot
Always take a Nandroid Backup in case something goes screwy!
Note: If you're having issues after flashing, and reboot into recovery and wipe cache/dalvik cache, and reboot.

[RADIO] flashing radio?

I've got Sensation (Z710e) form my friend, that's need tuning. So far i managed:
Unlock bootloader @ htcdev
CWM recovery
S-OFF with ControlBear (HBOOT 1.27.0000)
Now some ROMs require some patching before (HOX doesn't have this) and this is strange to me.
About phone says:
Android version : 4.0.3
HTC Sense : 3.6
SW Number: 3.32.401.3
(Advanced)
Baseband version: 11.76A.3504.00U_11.24A.3504.31_M
What is the catch? May i do damage to phone (i ****ed up i900 omnia with this radio ****, and i still have some phobia )? How to flash firmware (is it the same)?
Here you go. Tells you how to do it. I would suggest supercid also, if you aren't already.

I forgot to write. Already did that. As final step, downloaded 3.33 (universal) booted, instaled, but on my phone info again says 3.32. Which is weird. Do a i need this 3.32 if i want DarkForest rom (which required 3.33)?
if you're able to use fastboot commands -
fastboot getvar version-main
that will tell you what firmware is on your phone

You can flash 4ext over cwm through fastboot commands. Your download might be bad also.

Not sure why you wouldn't have a custom rom after flashing. Is your phone rebooting to stock rom after flashing?

? Very strange, you placed Rom on sd card, wiped cash and dalvik then installed Rom from sd card, rebooted and its not installed ? And your using 4 ext recovery ? What exactly was the procedure in order that you did? Maybe I can help?

All done besides 4EXT. Now i'm gone use 4EXT and try. BOOT.img doesnt need flashing on any ROM? ( Every ONE X have boot.img reflashed....)

I don't know if this is completely true, but you may need to relock your bootloader and go back to the stock recovery in order to get the ota update. Obviously, if someone makes a rom from it you can just use that.

i love you!
Can someone post a flashable zip? I don't want to run the RUU because I don't want to update my hboot.
Alternatively, if someone could post a TWRP nandroid backup file that I can restore, that would work too
I'm currently running the European 2.21 release with the 1.06s radio.
TY!
Sense 4.1 is wicked fast and the option to remove the menu on screen button is awesome more screen real estate for me . My recent apps button now functions as menu button sweet.

Yeah, I thought that was a flashable zip. But I can't flash it using a custom recovery.
FYI people this update also allows more apps to work and download from the play store

Anyone perform the update with encrypted storage? Just want to make sure it doesn't mess anything up before updating. From what I'm seeing, though, this is a nice upgrade.

Do I need to s-off my phone before flashing ROM.

I am new to this phone section . I have unlocked bootloader , flashed recovery and rooted the phone. But when i flashed ROM it struck at bootanimation screen . I waited for about half hr. But it doesnt get past bootanimation screen. I tried two ROM and had the same problem with both of them. So i am wondering if i need to s-off my phone before flashing any ROM?

S off not compulsory for installing custom Rom of same firmware..

Yes, as Itsakash mentioned you need to have the smartflash option enabled in 4ext recovery. If you have cwm recovery just flash 4ext over it. See HERE

Hi,
Yes.
Make a nandrooid backup.
Place ROM and Gapps on sd card, format all partitions (except sd card),enable smartflash, and flash ROM and Gapps straight away.
Thanks. One more question, did I really need to go s-off,if I could flashing roms with s-on?

you can flash any rom you want if you have always enabled first smartflash
the difference between S-ON and S-OFF is that in S-ON devices when flashing a rom it hasn't the ability to write the boot partition by itself(here is where it comes smartflash)
in S-OFF devices there is no need for that feature
that's why most of us with S-ON are using 4ext recovery(smartflash)

I had already flashed the TWRP recovery. It keeps taking me to the recovery.
I think i might have deleted the stock kernal when I accidently flashed the recovery in the kernal section. Any other suggestions?
Just flash Rom from twrp, fastboot flash boot.img from zip and it should work.
