I found scrolling wallpaper feature! - Asus Transformer TF700

I am using jelly bean and if you go to live wallpaper and select Asus my frame, you can enable scrolling wallpaper under setting.
Enjoy

Thanks. It only works with myframe though.
So technically you could have any static wallpaper (image of your choice) here with scrolling, but no live wallpaper scrolling....
I miss that feature...

I reported this while ago.

Thanks for the finding. This is a feature I have been missing and it seems that this is working quite smoothly like this. No idea why they hide it like this. Static wallpaper just looks so..static..

Chances are an effort by google to reduce memory usage. Scrolling wallpapers take a lot more meory than static ones. Scrolling live wallpapers take up MUCH more than scrolling pictures. In the constant fight for battery life and speed it was probably nerfed. Too bad they didnt leave it as an option.

This feature should have never gone away. I do remember this being a feature of the Transformer Prime when I first got it and it had Honeycomb 3.2 running on it, but once ICS dropped, ASUS removed the feature, or probably never added it back.

Day Scene is way cool
give it 24 hours you'll never go back . . .

[Q] Easiest way to put wallpaper...

Hi,
i've got tones of wallpaper, most of them from this forum (even wallpapers hd packs), but what's the easiest and correct way to put a wallpaper that looks good?
that thing with selecting a small area from the big picture instead of using the beautiful picture im viewing, causes my transformer to show some ugly pixelized picture...
i dont mind that i will have the exact same picture on any home screen instead of this long scrolling all over my screens.
i just cant stay with the those asus default wallpapers that by the way are the only ones that i can see ok.
thanks.
I actually didn't knew that there is another way... I'll be glad to hear it... thanks...

Try MultiPicture Live Wallpaper and it won't butcher it like the stock wallpaper placer does.
Thanks!!!! I'ts perfect!!!!

amazing!
well, it worked!
but now....if i may ask...
what's the best way to put only one picture (like in the stock wallpaper) that can be scrolled for all over my home screens.
now its working perfectly with the same pic in each home screen or different pictures.
and thanks!
Glad it worked out for you guys.
Thnx was looking for this as wel. Still finding new thing I would like ot change about the way things work but this is again a good step in the direction.

Screen looks great but icons look blurry.

i guess Android is not ready for such high resolution because most app icons look like blurry dirt on our screen. Not what i was expecting. It stand out from the screen. When i show my infinity to people they notice the lowres icon right away.
??? No idea what you are talking about.
Pics describe a thousand words.
Had a prime and now have an infinity - everything is sharp on my screen.
Have you messed with the DPI at all or have you installed the TF300 firmware?
My icons are not blurry or pixelated in any way...

U can see icons like my library, my cloud, file manager etc. They are lowres icon madefor 720p res screen and have been expand to 1080p ending in a blurry icon. I cannot believe noone has notice this. U can clearly tell which app icon were upgrade to this screen and which were expand.

I know what u mean... look at a iPad 3 then look at our icons. They look horrible. They are med quality icons that are on 7-10 inch tabs with lower res

i forget that a lot of people aren't into customizing their screens and using alternate icon sets. You can do so much with what's available for free or cheap in the Play Store.
This is the app makers fault, not the tablet. For the Asus apps they're to blame of course, but other apps can only be fixed by the app developers.
But yeah, some apps still have low resolution icons which looks bad. In-app graphics that's low resolution is worse though.

and this is why i laugh at people who swear by a 1080p 10" device. all the detail they claim they can see but can't see how blurry a lower res icon is. i deal with this all the time at work when customers send low res images.
that's not saying i wouldn't like a 1080p screen, it's just that people really don't notice as much as they think they do.
but really, what can you expect? a lot of apps are just now starting to catch up to 720/tablet sizes.
Believe me - the difference is *very* noticeable! I loaded CM10 on my TF101 this morning - the difference is much bigger than you think! I personally, never really cared about the icons - they are just icons! But the difference in text is immediately noticeable!

after watching a few review, one of them answer my question. He said the same thing about the icon looking blurry because they have not optimize the icons for 1080p resolution.

help with wallpapers

Hi everyone
I am a bit puzzled with wallpapers for the TF700, most of the ones that you download seem to get cut off. I recently downloaded the "wallpaper bay for tablet" app and all the wallpapers from the app fit great on the TF700 and dont get cut off at all. But i restarted my tablet just now and the wallpaper has resized itself and is cut off.
Is there a way around this? How do you get wallpapers to fit on the TF700 without having to crop it?
Any help is much appreciated.
Thank You

Thank you!!!! But is that app glitched? cant seem to select single pictures as a source, so i had to create a new folder and place my wallpaper file in there.

ADW Launcher EX on Infinity

Anyone else enjoying the new update? So far, flows so much better than apex and nova. Transitions are smoother more numerous and prettier than ever. So many more options to choose from, I had to share.

I was playing with the new ADW Launcher EX last night. It is very nice. However, I uninstalled and went back to stock. Because I don't like a pop-up menu appearing when I hold on a widget. I like the JB resize handles appearing. The extra step just turned me off.
I liked 3rd party launchers in the Pre-ICS days. But since ICS forward, not so much.
Absolutely love the new version of ADW EX - they did an excellent job with it. I really like the custom fonts for desktop icons too - looks so much better than the stock font for desktop icons.
Also love the dock reflections - adds a nice touch.
Really don't have anything bad to say about ADW EX - lots of options, great performance and doesn't seem to be a RAM hog either...
Highly recommended.

One issue that I am running into is that I am a not able to reassign the function of the home icon. I usually use the home button to open and close the dock bar. So far I have not been able to do this?

How did you re-assign that key with other launchers?

I had a hubs layout with instant transitions (that is, no transition), and was a big fan. Setting the transition speed to 0 accomplishes that in the old adw ex, but not in the new one. I rolled back to the old thanks to titanium. Not sure if it's a bug, an oversight or intentional.
Not saying it's bad, just doesn't suit my preferences.
Maybe I should try this too. I used stock for a long time until tried Nova. Omg what a difference with speed! Nova is so much faster than stock.
But if ADW faster than Nova I think I could be 95% satisfied with the speed of this tablet. (browser still has many problems)
I had bought ADW maybe 2 years ago and then it had problem not having updates so I changed to others. Might give it a try now. Thanks for headsup!
Try ADWLquncher ex the november update gave it a new life : before it was far slower than apex (my previous launcher) and now it's far faster and smoother

Transitions question

I noticed JB transition is quite a bit choppy on our tablet so I installed Apex launcher and made the transition to "slide left" in the behavior setting and noticed that that transition is a lot smoother. But it only works in the launcher and app drawer while opening apps or going back to home. But when launching within apps or in the recent app list it's still jellybean transition and its choppy. Is there a way to change everything to slide left. If I remember correctly gingerbreads transition was slide left. Is there a flashable that exist to make transition do a slide left or go back to gingerbread?

I don't think it's possible unless a dev incorporates the transitions into in his rom.
If I may say: the transitions are smoother when you check 'force GPU' in developer settings and I was also told that Seeder (the infamous app ) makes transitions smoother.
You could also try disabling all animations on your tablet: I did a while ago and everything feels snappier just cause Android now doesn't have to worry about its animations any longer

I actually prefer when force gpu or harware acceleration unchecked. Feels smoother for me for. And I also use seeder but I don't know if it really does anything TBH. But I do like transitions so I dont want to disable it completely. I think for now I'll just stick with Apex slide left transition for now till something comes up. Thank you.

Haha. I like the transitions too. I think they look th ebest with every animation setting at 0,5x.
Seeder has been reported to work for many tf700, but to be honest, I don't know if it is the placebo or for real.
It is pretty odd that they work better with gpu unchecked. Maybe you should try and coldboot the device?

Forgot to ask: are you running a custom rom and if so which one?
I've tried .5 transition before but didn't like it so I just stayed with 1. I'm currently on Cleanrom 3.1 Inheritance with data2sd mod. Not too sure about seeder as I dont see much difference in transition with it enabled or disabled but I keep it enabled anyway.
I've also tried coldboot and factory reset but didnt make a difference with the stock transition. It's weird that when I have hardware overlay enabled the opening of apps is super smooth like its supposed to be but swiping through home screens and going in and out of app drawer becomes choppy. So I have to disable it. Force GPU doesn't make too much of a difference for me. But I do notice in apps like G+ or facebook, unchecking it makes it a bit smoother. Try it and let me know. Maybe its just me....

I will! I'll try the hardware overlay thingy
I never tinkered with that
The disabling gpu also results in less random black horizontal lines, as many people have reported before.
