LGL45C CWM/Roms - Android General

This Guide is For the Lgl45c On how To install Cwm And install two Roms
THIS IS ONLY FOR THE LGL45C NOT THE P690
Un-zip and place flash_image(no extension) on the root of your SDcard, along with LGL55C_recovery.img that you just downloaded.
View attachment files.zip
Then to install, in "terminal Emulator" on your phone, type:
su
mount -o remount, rw /system
cp /sdcard/flash_image /system/bin
cd /system/bin
chmod 777 flash_image
flash_image recovery /sdcard/LGL55C_recovery.img
reboot recovery

Do you happen to have a working ROM for this phone? I really need one BAD! I have CWM on the phone but my backup got corrupted and I have no working ROM on the phone right now. Can you help me out with one please?
Thanks for the files, I am going to try everything I can to get them to work with trying to get some sort of working ROM on this damn thing.
Regards,
rast4man

no news on this phone?

i dont know what went wrong but recovery didnt install right i guess. i can only get into emergency mode but cant flash i keep getting load dll error on kdz

error message in term em
first lgl45c works perfectly no problems getting recovery and roms installed. so i figured why not get a second phone for my son and root it the same way,for $20 why not. so......
1) i root with unlockroot pro again, all goes well. i check it and it is rooted.
2)i install a file explorer and term em. i also get cwm 6 because that is what i choose on first phone
3)i checked to make sure recovery image and flash image are named correctly, and put the on sdcard in the right spots.
4)i get su rights and try to get into /system/bin/ i get message "/system/: permission denied"
ive tried doing different ways of getting into just system and still get the same error message.
any help would be gratefully appreciated
again i did this on my first phone and it went flawlessly

Rom
Will this remove the stock rom? I cant find a stock rom for backup.

I can link the stock ROM to my Dropbox if you need it. Let me know.

Can you help me root my phone?

I assume it is this phone? L45C?

Clockworkmod for the Mesmerize WORKING!

With the help of jt1134, we managed to get clockworkmod installed and functional on a Samsung Mesmerize. This will assume you have the android SDK installed and some knowledge of how to use adb.
First off you need to have your phone rooted. This can be done with SuperOneClick. You will also need a couple of files, recovery.bin and redbend_ua, both of which are attached to this post.
You will need to install redbend_ua first extract the zip file then;
Code:
adb push path/to/redbend_ua /sdcard/redbend_ua
then you need to make it executable
Code:
adb shell
su
chmod 777 /sdcard/redbend_ua
Now you need to move it to the /system/xbin
Code:
adb shell
su
mv /sdcard/redbend_ua /system/xbin/redbend_ua
Extract the recovery.zip and then we push the recovery.bin to the sd card.
Code:
adb push path/to/recovery.bin /sdcard/recovery.bin
Finally we need to flash the recovery.bin
Code:
redbend_ua restore /sdcard/recovery.bin /dev/block/bml8
After this the only thing left to do is download Rom Manager from the market and install the clockworkmod for the Fascinate. This is working on my Mesmerize. Please leave feedback!
Nice! now if only I had a Mesmerize...
Congrats! Hope this gets US Cell folks more active...
hey guys this worked great for me! thanks. I ran into a problem though when trying to make the redbend_ua file executable while it was on my sdcard so i moved it to the root of my phone memory using root explorer, than I ran the command
adb shell
su
chmod 777 /redbend_ua
than to move the file I used the command
adb shell
su
mv /redbend_ua /system/xbin/redbend_ua
and than follow the remaining steps that thescorpion420 has posted up, it shouldnt take more than 5 minutes for the process, I am flashing a rom to my USCC mesmerize as we speak and I will report back!
Enjoy guys
And thanks to the devs for figuring this out.
rom
ok so i was able to install a rom and not get an error, however I am stuck on the samsung screen when the phone boots up, it makes the power on noise, however it wont start up. any suggestions?

hey guys, I freaked out and didnt think I had made a successful backup of my rom before messing with it but I found it and I got the phone to go back to stock. So now I'm going to try a few things to see if I can get some roms to install on this thing.
Wow... Awesome news. Subbed for updates. Now to read some tutorials on how to get through the whole process... Won't be doing any flashing until I see someone confirm they got it up and running.
help
i getting failed on redbend _ua cross device link please help lol what am i doing wrong
You could try

hey guys, so after trying different roms by different devs none of them are working with my mesmerize, I keep having to revert back to the original rom on the phone. Does anyone have any idea whats going on? I hate the stock rom and I want to change it.

Ill start flashing roms as soon as I get this recovery installed I need help with it in okc anyone need some extra cash in okc help me out ill pay
ok, so Im able to recover my phone back to stock all the time so what I'm looking for is someone who has a custom rom installed and has done a backup with clockworkmod and if they can upload the backup they made, I think this is going to be the easiest way to install roms on the mesmerize for now.
Thanks

why do i keep getting permission denied on the last step of the recovery prosess

make sure you're using the root prompt # rather than the standard prompt $. This is why you're getting permission denied.
OKAY. So I have clockworkmod installed but when I try to backup my ROM it reboots into the recovery thing and then fails to update using the update.zip that clockwork downloaded. What should I do?
Just because you can get Clockwork Recovery for the Fascinate working with Rom Manager does not mean that you can start flashing Fascinate specific ROMs and/or kernels to your Mesmerize. You still have a Mesmerize and until the ROMs are made for the Mezmerize, or at least compatible, you can't use them. This is a great first step, though.
People are already pulling ROMs apart to make some of them compatible so it won't be too much longer.

I'll just leave this here . . .
Flash in clockworkmod not made by me, thanks jt1134.

Helping a Friend with a New ROM

First, I do not have an Infuse. I am probably not an expert at ROMing but pretty close. Done it so many times on my DROID, Fascinate, NookColor, and now my Thunderbolt. But every phone/device seems to have their own unique thing going on.
I am trying to look into the ROMing world of the Infuse and it all looks standard. But I am having trouble figuring out the 3e Recovery. What is this about? I know with my Fascinate, I could not use the newest ROM Manager CW because of Voodoo and other reasons. Is that part of the reason why with the Infuse you have to go through these extra steps outside of flashing CW from ROM Manager?
He is not in a position to pay for Root Explorer as of yet. It seems you can install the Modded 3e through Terminal Emulator, correct? And THEN Flash ClockWork (i9000) through ROM Manager and boot into recovery like normal?
The ultimate goal is to install the Infused ROM. I got all the steps down except the first one--and since he can't use Root Explorer as of now, it may be more complicated. Any pointers here?
From what I understand, the stock recovery image on the Infuse (3e) will not allow you to install/flash unsigned .zip files. Modding the 3e recovery removes the requirement that zips be signed, letting you flash clockworkmod. I'm sure you've already seen this thread about installing modded 3e. If you aren't in a position to pay for root explorer, I'd suggest Super Manager instead. It worked fine for me when I modded my 3e. You don't need ADB or a terminal emulator either; there's an option in both root explorer and super manager to mount the system directory as read/write. Once you have the zip on your SD card, you shouldn't need your computer any more at all to finish installing modded 3e.
And yes, after that's done flash the i9000 CWM and it should be smooth sailing!
Thanks for helping out! That explains it perfectly.
Here is an issue I came across: We unzipped the recovery file and placed on SD card (I think it was like 307kb) and then I went and tried to copy it in /system/bin/ first with Terminal Emulator, then again with ADB. On the last step, I assume when I am pushing it to phone fromt he SD, it says it "cannot find" the recovery file.
Anyone come across something similar?
(I did download Super Manager and that seems like a nice option, I will see if that helps instead).

Hm, that is odd. Dumb question, but are you sure you're pointing ADB/the terminal emulator to the right directory on the right SD card? Or is the recovery file properly named? Those are the only things I can think of.

1) You must be root (e.g. rooted with SuperOneclick) to install the "modded 3e recovery"
2) Its permissions apparently must be EXACTLY the same as the original one for it to work - if it has MORE permissions than normal I've heard it may break!
3) I still haven't figured out why you need modded 3e recovery to flash CWM recovery - you should only need root to do so...
I forget my exact steps as I'm a bit of a Unix shell guru, but mine were something similar to:
1) SuperOneClick root
2) ADB shell into the phone
3) "su" within ADB (the superuser app will prompt on the touchscreen here)
4) in another terminal window on the PC (I'm a Linux guy... I can adb push while being adb shell'ed elsewhere), from wherever you have your modded recovery unzippped "adb push recovery /sdcard/recovery"
5) "cp /system/bin/recovery /system/bin/recovery.bak"
6) "busybox mount /system -o remount,rw" (for some reason, the default mount program is really crippled, gotta do busybox remount)
7) "cp /sdcard/recovery /system/bin/recovery"
8) "reboot"

[RECOVERY] Fixed CWM v3.0.2.8

I remember downloading this and saving it when I still had the SK4G. It works great, just replace the update.zip on the / of your sdcard to use. Click the THANKS button if you D/L'ed/Used/Referred To/So on...
Just because of the nature of this mod, I cannot and will not be held responsible for any mishaps to your devices and or any of its accessories (SDCards) that in this weird world of ours may just happen. This should not discourage you to use it, just saying.. You break it, You fix/replace it.

I may be wrong, but I think its due to not replacing the stock binary file with the modded binary file. I'm trying to find it online but krylon's site no longer hosts the file...

Make sure you guys are extracting the the zip and putting the extracted recovery into the system/bin, not the whole zip.
You can also use the search and find where I reposted sduvicks fakeflash utility. It will install CWM for you.

replace the update.zip on the /root of the SD. No Odin required. Rename to update.zip, and place it straight on your SD.
That did not work until after I rooted it using RageAgainstTheCage
Re-upped by me here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?hn5ikyt6xpn8d9x
After doing that, then it allows the update.zip to work without failing signature check.
EDIT: Then I also used SuperOneClick to shell-root.

Ok guys the actual problem here is that there is a file missing that you need to push through to your "/system/bin" folder in your SK's root directory.
The missing file is the custom "recovery" binary file that krylon360 created. After doing so, either by ADB pushing the file or copy pasting it with a root file manager, you may boot into recovery then run the 'reinstall packages' command in the stock recovery. This in turn loads the new recovery.....
ALWAYS CHECK YOUR MOUNTS IN CUSTOM RECOVERY. It will save you an accidental pain in the ass. Trust me.
Mounts should look as follows:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-unmount /cache
-mount /data
-mount /sdcard (this sometimes says it is mounted-- not important)
-unmount /system (MOST IMPORTANT. IF IT DOES NOT READ AS THIS SAYS- THEN FIX THAT AND MOUNT IT BEFORE ANY BACKUPS OR WIPES. YOU WILL GET STUCK IN THE SCRIPT)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I will see if I can host the file in my Dropbox. As for the help, it is available in many older posts already. But a hitting that thanks button couldn't hurt ;D

I would like to say thanks to you all helping out with this. My lack of signing in here has to do with me not even having an Android-powered device anymore. So, once again thank you.:good:

[Q] Anyway that I can recover my phone???

Hello,
I have LG Optimus Elite Android 2.3.7...it was rooted...
I accidentally deleted /system/bin/sh...gee..oh my god..
The problem is that I am not even able to adb to my phone now..
If I do adb to that phone, it is complained about /system/bin/sh doesn't exist something...
Gee...........
Obviously, factory reset didn't help cuz it didn't restore the sh...
What would be my option ??
When I just reboot my phone, it is just stay "Welcome to" screen...Even though I touched the begin, it won't go next..I think because..
my /system/bin/sh file is deleted..so my phone can't execute anything from the phone shell..
What would be my option to recover my phone?
Please help
Thanks,
Get a copy of sh and
> adb push sh /system/bin/
But /system is read-only so you need to mount read-write. But you cannot because
> adb shell
Cannot execute sh because it is not there.
You need to restore from nandroid backup. Failimg that, restore back to stock with Odin.

BTW, nandroid backup -> I don't think I can use it because I don't have original backup rom?
Odin -> does this also work for LG phone?

No, you can't use nandroid backup. A nandroid is an image file of your system partitions. PC users typically know this as ghosting or cloning. To linux users, it's just a dd. You create the image yourself from a working copy. You don't need the original ROM. You can make a backup of your /system partition (nandroid) any time you have a working copy.
PS I'm an idiot. LG was literally the first thing u said. And you are correct. You need to use LG Flash Tool.
See 1942836
Unfortunately, 1942836 is not the same model I have.
I don't think I can use that instruction.
It really makes me crazy since I can't use adb at all....
I tried creating update.zip and put it in sd card to install..however, as you may know, signature verification failed.
if I could get key file to create signed zip file other than test one, that may work.
Is there anyway I can bypass the signature verification??????
Thanks,

Obviously, before happening this issue, I was able to use adb...
And..now..if I issue adb, then nothing shows up in the list of devices attached section...I guess because it can't communicate somehow with /system/bin/sh I just accidentally deleted.
I know that I can use Odin to install CWM for Samsung phone....I just found that there is LG Flash tool program on the internet does simialr thing like Odin for LG phone..however, I am not sure where I can find the dll that I can use from LG Flash tool program.
Any idea?

You will indeed have to reflash your device, as you don't have any other way of putting the bash binairy back.
I guess, as you are rooted, you know how to reflash your device. If you don't, search the forum

Download android sdk, install it as google tells you. Go to the folder your build prop is at, hold shift, press the right mouse button, press on open command prompt. Type this in it:
adb shell
su
stop
mount -o rw, remount /system
push build.prop /system/build.prop
mount -o ro, remount /system
reboot
If you cant do that, you can always reflash the firmware

I have a backup of the original file on the SD.

I did back up my original build.prop, and I can get phone into download mode....just not sure what to do from here. I am using a mac, but I can get to a PC if needed. Ok i edited the build.prop, apparently I did something wrong, I can only boot to black screen with blue/green flashing led. I did back up my original build.prop, and I can get phone into download mode....just not sure what to do from here. I am using a mac, but I can get to a PC if needed. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I'm really desperate, anyone that can help me get my phone back up I would really appreciate it....just get it back to stock or anything. I am willing to donate to anyone that can help me get my phone up. I know I'll get ripped apart for messing with my phone that was above my ability, I have learned my lesson I understand, just need help please. Thanks for anyone that can get me back up.
