So. I am finding that using the gtab 180 degrees flipped around from the standard config (camera on bottom) delivers much better viewing angles.
There any way to flip the screen at all?

Yes, download ADW from the market. If it is not there you can get it from their site:
http://jbthemes.com/anderweb/category/adwlauncher/
Not only is the rotation better, but you can change the icon spacing and layout much better along with other usability tweaks, like a 5 button dock bar.
Good luck!
I have seen many different reports. The one I roll with 980x800. Others give other responses, but 980x800 seems to be the closest, but there is STILL room on setting the wallpaper. Like a tiny centimeter on either side when you do it.
So, for once and for all, is it 980x800?

If I remember correctly, the screen's resolution is 400x800, so something along that ratio should work. It needs to be the same LxW ratio as the screen for the box tio fit over it, the actual resolution size shouldn't really matter as long as it's within reason and has the same ratio.

haha
it haz walpapers? epic
960x800

The only problem with looking at the screens resolution is that most roms/launchers use wallpaper that stretches across all the home screens, and you scroll across it as you switch screens.... So to avoid stretching the image you need something wider... Hence the need for images with dimensions like 960 x 800.
If you are just using one screen (or have an app for a different wallpaper per screen) then you're looking for 800x480 (or as you said, the same ratio)

the photos would be smaller, not bigger as it would require some of the top and bottom cropping off. I'd prefer them to be the size they are now!
You can make the pictures larger by using the phones photo editor if you want to. Hold your finger over a pic while browsing the gallery and when menu choices are offered choose the edit option and from there you can adjust size etcetera. I have only used this resize ability for my 2D to 3D conversions to fit them better on screen as optimus photos are a good size anyway.
Alternatively you can take two higher resolution pictures using an app like 3dsteroid and have the app turn them into one large 3D image.
Dave
Yes they would be slightly smaller - if cropped on the phone (takes work too) - but to fill the whole phone screen would make them light more pixels (on the phone).
It is really a pitty the cam does not opt for filling the screen - btw. In filming it does - and it looks good in WIDESCRREN.
I hope to have it corrected in the photo mode @ a later time.
Cheers

the photo mode is correct (4:3)
filming uses more of the screen because it's 16:9 but the resolution is much lower
Yes, i know the filming res is much lower and not better. But still i would love to get rid of maybe 20% res, but be able to see the pics full screen.
One more cropped image size in the cam settings (in 2d and 3d) would satisfy my needs @ all.

Small addition (begging to lg):
The same problem with pictures not beeing displayed full screen applies on my brand new 16:9 led tv - a shame - even more if seen in 3d. It makes the view into the screen like a keyhole effect.
I would really appreciate the possibility of shooting cropped img in the 16:9 format which is also the screen aspect of the phone itself and i think almost every modern display device.

Hi, i just bought the Galaxy note 10.1 a few days ago, and when i first started using it, my eyes were hurting and it got to the point when they were throbbing. my question is, has anyone else had this problem? i have a feeling this is because the resolution is not very good on the Note 10.1.
On another note, i decided to go with this over the Transformer Infinity because i read it had problems freezing up, is this true also? what have your experiences been with the Transformer Infinity? have you had any of these problems before?
Thanks,
Ryan
Sounds like you need to see an eye doctor...

Mine hurt if I have the brightness up. Since I've started setting the brightness at about 25%, it's been fine. It took very little time to get used to that and, except in very bright conditions, I find it's plenty.
Screen Hurting Eyes
You probably have bifocal vision . I have bifocal vison and can't use High-def screen . I bought and returned xperia z just for that , but this 1280 x 800 works great for me . Another thing you have to keep in mind is that You have to try and adjust screen brightness to be the same as your surroundings , because when you keep looking at screen and up and away from screen your eyes have to adjust to difference . The less difference the less work for the eyes and less strain at them . That's why the pirates have eyepatch . When they go from bright sun on upper deck down below deck they just switch eyepatch to another eye and they see perfect below in the dark . ( Maybe You should try that lol )

im 21 i dont have bifocal vision, the screen resolution is crap on it, although im uses to using HD Screens.
and i own a macbook pro that i use daily, so that might be the reason why i think the resolution is to low
I too had tired eyes after using any lcd device for a long time.
Some thoughts from me
- reduce brightness of the screen to bare minimum
- install anti glare screen protector. It reduces the reflections from the glass and allows you to reduce brightness further.
- install screen filter... it allows u to reduce brightness below system minimum. Good for night viewing.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.haxor
- take a break every 10 mins when using the tablet. Always use tv for watching movies... i have allshare cast dongle that i use for this purpose for videos i play from my tablet.
- if u read a lot of books/articles, invest in paperink readers. Very cheap these days.
- one big issue with tablets is that focal length that your eyes focus on, is almost constant. Not good. Try and follow wall ceiling lines every 20mins of tablet usage... it helps eye muscles focus on different focal lenghts and reduces fatigue.
- reduce time on tablet unless it's a job function for you.
- galaxy s3 has super amoled screens which are much easier on eyes.
- last and most imp one. Get you eyes checked.

That`s a real funny one....come on it`s still HD 720P
So growing up u didn`t watch a lot of TV......768x576
I had the same issue. I made a couple adjustments and it became much better.
First change the screen color from dynamic/standard to movie. Might take a little while to get used too. Then change the font on your device to something you feel comfortable reading.
http:// http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1958316
Lastly I use an app called lux to adjust the brightness as well as change the warmth of the screen during the night. Helps a lot.
The screen fonts are only hard to read if they are too small. Just increase them to an appropriate size and they are fine.
Regarding the screen resolution. Have you noticed that only the Surface Pro ($1000) offers a digitizer pen with a fullHD screen? There is a reason for that. Those offer full i-series CPU's, not a tablet CPU as you have in your Note 10.1. To run a digitizer pen lagfree on a fullHD screen you need a better CPU and be prepared too PAY for it.
When you bought the Note 10.1 you made a choice - pen functionality vs fullHD. At $500 you can't have both.
I have problems with my eyes since i started using the note 10 plus 5G
I'm a note series user ,i was searching if anyone complained of that
I tried to stop the 5 g but still the same
I went to check my eyes and nothing wrong .
Ill try to go back to my previous note
Wrong forum for your model .
I downloaded some full hd wallpapers from a website. When I open them in gallery they cover the whole screen beautifully, however, when I try to use one as my background, I have to crop it with the gallery app. When I do this it cuts off exactly one row of pixels across the bottom of my screen leaving a small but annoying white line. Please help. I just want my phone to be pretty.
