Hello,
Iv'e got a question?

Currently, you cannot FXZ from the second leak(soak test image). You will hard-brick.

Soft brick, those that have done it, have softbricked with a modified fxz that alteredlikeness and I cooked up, but with any non modified fxz it will be a hard brick for sure.
The issues that we found that caused the hard brick were the CDT.bin and the CDROM files that caused several others to not load, and caused the soft brick, so if you want to look someplace, that is where I would start.
Again one last time Please, we could have handled this through a PM, no need to create ANOTHER new thread, since this really is a dev thing, and not an everyone thing. You have all our user ids and we will answer any direct questions you have, I understand that you may not like me, but there are others.

Depends what you try to downgrade with...
I believe if you use the unmodified 2.3.5/2.3.6 fxz package you will hard brick (white led, no screen).
If you use the modified ones we have for ICS leak#1, you will soft brick (but, it's a pretty firm soft brick, stuck in fastboot). This seems to be true for ATT and HKTW.
That's understanding of it.

I see by your signature, you're quite young. I'm not saying that as an insult or an implication of your limits of abilities, but as you've seen before, you need to go through the 'proper channels' around here so you will be much more well received. I understand you are being very ambitious, and that's great. However, please do just pace yourself and try not jumping the gun with your development. If you take your time, and spend some time collaborating with the established (and well respected) developers here, you will be better off in the long run. You can PM any one of the devs, or anyone else for that matter if you need help along your way. But, again, just focus on being a little less impetuous, and a lot more 'behind the curtain' -that way, when you put something out there to the community, it has been tested/modified/verified by the guys here who have dealt with this device from essentially day one of its release. This is just a suggestion, take it however you see fit...

I was thinking to join to be more behind the curtains and to be part of the developer community.
And I was just parsing some cdt tables and realized that the cdt.bin version needs to be higher in order to downgrade. It's all in the cdt table. So how did this Chinese user do it is the question we need answered in order to downgrade. Did he use the rsa signature from the other file or something?

I just sent you a PM with information.

I think this question is relevant to this thread, so here goes: Jim has been gracious enough to attempt to fix my softbrick because it failed to flash CDT.bin and CDROM. However, I never flashed the second leak, only scv7leak2, and from there the CM10. It was my understanding that you could use a modified FXZ to get back from this, just not the official leak #2. Is this correct, or am I wasting the Jim's time?
I would've sent a PM on this, just figured if answered here it would help others.

I am pretty sure we can learn something from it. I am also 99% sure I can get you your phone back in working condition.
It is good that you posted this here, and did not pm about it, since it is relevant.

I would really love to see an fxz cooked up for the leak #2. In softbrick state myself. Seen that it DOES go into fastboot...but wishes dont always come true lol.

[Q] Unroot, Carrier patches, etc

I couldn't find anything based on an Unroot thread, as well as some generalized questions.
SOMETIMES, phone devs, and the carriers, put out patches that actually correct some ugly known issues. Correct me if i'm wrong, but if i root, i'm led to believe i can not download carrier patches and updates.
My concern is If I root and there's by chance some JESUS patch that is issued that corrects reception issues, power cycle, etc. Is there a way to unroot the device.
First post by the way, go easy.
Edit: OH also, I forgot to mention, from what im reading around 2.3.6 seems to be the current version out for at&t however i'm only on 2.3.5 i've tried pushing the update by checking through settings>updates. It's telling me however that there aren't any available? Or did they pull the update for some reason?

Our Atrix 2 (not mine now - so sorry) come from many markets with little bit of hardware and software difference, so be careful to post anything here. Maybe it works well on your phone but could give a hard brick on the others.
I think people here should be patient and wait until some testing and confirmation from our trusted Devs. This is extremely time sensitive !

This is the RAZR bootstrap... and just because it boots doesn't mean its working...The current bootstrap we have boots under ICS but isn't fully functional. This is your second time posting a fix with out doing any research. If a newbie spotted this thread, they might install it thinking it works and viola they have a bricked phone. So please unless you REALLY know how to fix things and have dev experience please don't post every possible fix that MIGHT work.

It's not you or your work. It's the fact that there have been a lot of hard bricks and we need to be extra careful about releasing anything for the ics leak. It needs to be tested by more than one person. It might work for you but not someone else. We are all being cautious, that's all.

Or better yet move this to the development section
I locked to stop with the arguments but I will leave the links. As always if you brick your device its no ones fault except your own. We all choose to mod our phones with the risks it posses. If he says it work I'm not inclined to say it doesn't. But devices vary by build and region so to everyone be careful.

[Project] Stock Recovery With Custom Zip's. [Current: Cracking and Testing stage]

Mods: If this is your type to sticky, please do it.
Hello, I've just hatched an Idea!!!
People (like me) may need to downgrade with a custom zip file. But motorola only signatures are allowed in recovery
This calls for cracking the CERT.RSA from the update.zip files that motorola has for us. Yes this is unpatchable because if this does get patched then motorola won't be able to use the recovery with their zips :laugh:.
So let's get cracking the rsa signature! The perl script that I took from hackspire to crack the rsa need's a high power cpu in order to get something done. The public exponent is 3 so this should be easy to crack
Here is the perl script:
Code:
#!/usr/bin/perl
use warnings;
use Math::BigInt try => 'GMP';
print "# Using Math::BigInt v",$Math::BigInt::VERSION,"\n";
$e = Math::BigInt->new('3');
my $n = Math::BigInt->new('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');
$p = $n->copy();
$p->bsqrt();
$biggestp = length($p->as_bin())-2;
print "prime p is a ",$biggestp," bit number or less.\n";
$p = $p->brsft((gmtime(time))[2]);
if((gmtime(time))[2] > 0){$p = Math::BigInt->new('0b' . ('1' x ($biggestp-(gmtime(time))[2]))); }
print "p randomly starts shifted right by ",(gmtime(time))[2]," bits and bit filled.\n";
ITERATE:
$modtest = $n->copy();
if ($modtest->bmod($p)->is_zero()){
print "Great found p and q !!!!!\n";
print 'p= ',$p->as_hex(),"\n";
$q = $n->copy();
$q->bdiv($p);
print 'q= ',$q->as_hex(),"\n";
goto SECRETKEY;
}
DECREMENT:
$p->bdec();
goto DECREMENT unless $p->is_odd();
goto ITERATE;
SECRETKEY:
print "Calculating secret key d\n";
$PQ = $p->copy();
$PQ->bdec();
$r = $q->copy();
$r->bdec();
$PQ->bmul($r);
$d = $e->copy()->bmodinv($PQ);
print 'p= ',$p->as_hex(),"\n";
print 'q= ',$q->as_hex(),"\n";
print 'd= ',$d->as_hex(),"\n";
print 'n= ',$n->as_hex(),"\n";
print 'e= ',$e->as_hex(),"\n";
It works best under ubuntu because windows is slower at tasking than linux.
Also a processor with a lot of cores and Ghz will do.
If you find the p and q and d value PM me the values (I need to test them).
Good luck cracking

Hate to say it but I am extremely cautious flashing unknown things at the risk of hardbricking without means of replacement..... I would think it is safe to say these are untested and we are the test subjects?????

How I understand it: if you try to flash anything in stock recovery that doesn't have the correct key, it just won't flash. If it flashes then it means that the key is correct and we win. Correct me if i'm wrong.
I understand the risk, and I have a working spare Atrix 2 mainboard, so I'm not afraid to try until I brick one of them.

I am sure he wants to see some ownership in this, in that maybe he thought to test this himself first, instead of using you guys as test subjects before knowing what it might do. This is not the first time the OP has asked other people to test something that he has no idea what might happen, without at least trying it himself first.
Myself and the other devs in here all test our own stuff before even asking for volunteers, so we have some idea of how safe it is.
I personally have bricked my atrix 2 like 6 times, I am on my 7th phone now, and I am not at all afraid to call the att warranty department to get a replacement, and the rest of your dev team is the exact same way.
A great developer will/should know what he is asking people do (in other words have tested it himself first) before giving a "beta" or "alpha" of anything for others to test.
I am betting money that, that is what hankbizzo5 ment

How many times are you gonna post the same question http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1963212
think you should relock your bl and ruu, no more problems, no more "error sound" just plain vanilla until you've done some serious reading. :good:

no need to be snobby, ive bricked one in my entire life and recovered it thru linux, when it comes to rooting, flashing roms\kernals, and phone software specs and hardware just to add im great, just didnt know how to fix this problem. this is my first htc phone and i love it. Ive always had samsungs before and i simply was asking for help. this isnt my first go round with development at all, i actually do it for a living, so if you can help me thank you but im not here to be riddiculed and treated like some noob that just doesnt understand the value of these phones. Android is my passion, and this circumstance happens to be one that i have never dealt with before. I thought thats what this community is for, like minded people with the same passion helping and learning from one another.
if your using the same phone you flashed a international rom i would run the ruu again which might fix some things the original fix didn't. then reunlock and flash twrp.

Can someone give me a step-by-step tutorial to root the G930TUVSACSG1 firmware?

Ive been trying to find a root tutorial for the G930TUVSACSG1 for the past month. I've tried many alts but none of them work. if someone could please comment or send me a link to root the above variant? That would greatly be appreciated. thanks.

What have you tried so far? Did you try the g930U_REV_9_ENG_ROOT.tar? I'm wondering if that will still work along with s7_Oreo_Nougat_Adb_Advanced_Root_V12.zip. I was just given this phone today and was hoping it had an older version than this "A" version. I don't know if the Samsung Experience version being 9.0 means anything at all. This is the first post I've read on this version.
After a bit of digging on Google this shows up:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s7/how-to/g930tuvs9csc1-root-t3948777
However i am not sure if it's up to date or not

Follow this guide:

Instead of the engineering file in the original OP use this file instead, otherwise follow the instructions exactly as written, step by step.

In this case, the root thread linked is valid, but G930TUVSACSG1 is U10 and the engboot provided is U9. I happen to also be using SG1 (I should've checked XDA before updating, silly me).
I happen to have the U10 engineering ROM, but none of the tools to modify it like all the previous variants.

Well that's disappointing news, I've been back on stock for a while now and due to the age/usage of the phone, wanted to get rerooted to optimize what I can.
I'm on ACSI1 build though, for the curious, if anybody has any ideas or comes across a method to root, please inform me.

I just got my notification for the SI1 update. I don't have much optimism for our rooting future. I am really missing Xposed and the ad blocking capabilities. If I see or hear anything, I'll let you know.

Hey, I did receive another S7 (friends give me old phones because they know I love geeking out) and rooted successfully, so I appreciate the info. Secondly, I noticed a new eng bootloader was uploaded to AFH a few weeks ago, the one we used was rev8, this one being rev10, so I'm going to go ahead and start fresh to see if its any improvement. Just thought I'd share the info, return the favor so to speak, in case you're interested in checking it out. :highfive:
I'll follow up if everything was successful.
G930x_QC_ENG_BOOT_BIN_10_U10_REV10.tar
Edit:
Successful

Yea, I had rooted with his first few iterations of that thread, which obviously was iffy on whether it was worth having root due to overheating, battery drain, etc etc. The post you mentioned was me wanting to tinker with an extra phone that had been updated beyond what was considered exploitable. And while it's only day 2-3, and not my 'daily driver', I must say, it seems to be considerably more responsive and stable thus far, actually haven't noticed much in terms of drain, lag, or heat like before, so I can definitely recommend it. Obviously, results may very, but following procedure, I flashed stock beforehand, then rooted using instructions to a T, only swapping out the eng boot. Just had a response on the root thread stating he successfully rooted his s7 edge from the latest update (by renaming the eng boot, but honestly, an unnecessary step).
Feel free to let me know how it goes (if you try it out), and good luck! :highfive::good:

I want to give the v10 a try, but I just recently had to reroot due to trying to flash a Dolby Atmos zip that put me into an unrecoverable bootloop. I'm thinking that I'll have to reroot if I flash the eng.boot. I'm too lazy to set up my phone again so soon. Lol. When I do though, I'll let you know.

I feel ya, it becomes a chore at times, but just to update, it's been running smooth as silk for me, again, not my daily driver, but using it frequently enough that I can verify that this has been the smoothest running eng boot setup I've had (and I've had them all). I'm not usually very lucky in that regard, even with the technical know-how to optimize it to it's maximum potential, I'm fairly pleased with it. I dare say it's been comparable to running a standard oem root environment, but I'm hesitant because I'm sure thats when it'll turn around and bite me in the ass lol.
