Want to go to JB but on ICS with custom Rom/Recovery - Asus Transformer TF700

With all the new JB roms and custom kernels based of the JB OTA I want to give them a shot. I'm confused on what I need to do since I'm rooted with unlocked bootloader on ICS but running the Black Bean JB Rom. I read Ok need to go up date to JB bootloader and then flash custom JB recovery. Can someone point me in the right direction please.
Thanks!

It's really simple.
Download your asus jb firmware from their site.
Run voodoo ota keeper to keep root for later
Unzip it and flash the zip extracted in your custom recovery as you would with any custom Rom
Reboot
Install custom recovery again via fast boot or re-enable root from voodoonand use goo manager to install your recovery
There is also a flashable version of super user you can use to get root back as well.

[Q] I need some answers about Nexus S

So I bought Nexus S from second hand recently mostly because it will get official ICS support from Google.
So because it's second hand buy, I really don't know if I'm using original bootloader, kernel, radio etc.
It's rooted (because I have Superuser app), I think it has stock 2.3.6 android (build number GRK39F) and kernel version 2.6.35.7-gf5f63ef, [email protected]#1.
Can someone who use stock android and original kernels confrime to me that this is right version?
I really want to update to ICS using incremental update which I found here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445635) but I'm affraid to don't screw something because of bad experience when I radio bricked my desire
Can I update it to ICS or I need to do unroot or something?
Just download the correct stock ICS rom for your device (if it is I9020T or I9023) ,put it on the SD root and then flash it using the stock or CWM recovery and be done with it (if you need the ICS)
most likely you won't be update by OTA because you are rooted (system file verification will fail)
just download stock ICS ROM and flash it ...
Ota will install fine if its a stock rom with just root. The update script basically checks that everything that should be there is there . If there is something else in there like su it don't matter.
flashing a new rom is the best way to go if you have cwm installed already
I succesfuly flashed ICS and first impressions are very good.
But I think I lost recovery...

flash a CWM recovery via adb , or there is TWRP recovery in DEV section , which is very good .

How to root Nexus S(i9023) Jellybean

Hi,I had just received my Jellybean OTA update just a few hours ago,and I decided to root it,but don't know how to...Can anyone tell me the steps?
First you'll need to unlock your device. This will wipe everything on your phone so make sure you have a backup of important stuff.
Look at http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Nexus_S:_Full_Update_Guide#Unlocking_the_Bootloader on how to unlock the bootloader.
After you've unlocked it, you'll need to install the latest CWM Recovery. It's explained at http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Ne...de#Installing_the_ClockworkMod_Recovery_Image and you can find the latest version of CWM at http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
Then use the recovery to flash superuser. You can find superuser at http://androidsu.com/superuser/ Download the latest version for ARM and put it on your phone. Then in the bootloader choose recovery and install zip from sdcard and choose the superuser zip file.
You can find a more complete guide at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1623481
Thanks, I will try it out tomorrow

Detailed Guide of Getting a Stock ICS Infinity unlocked

Hi Guys,
i decided to open this thread, because in my opinion my questions aren't really answered yet. So here is my question:
I have a Stock Infinity with 9.4.5.21 ICS Firmware and i want to get my NVFlash Files and finally install a Custom JB ROM on it.
But i don't really know in which order i have to follow the already postet guides. I think i have to do it as follows:
1. Unlock Bootloader with official ASUS APK
2. Gain Root (f.e. with the one-klick-root-tool)
3. Proceed with Nvflash (to make it Brick-Safe, because it seems that it happens very often)
4. Install Stock JB Firmware from Asus (But how to flash it?)
5. Flash Custom Recovery (f.e. TWRP with GooManager)
6. Flash Custom ROM (f.e. Clean Rom)
7. Be happy to have a non-bricked TF700
Can someone plz help me to verify these steps? I'm sure it will also help others who aren't certain about unlocking, too.
I would do this:
1. Unlock with the official tool and void your warranty, hope that Asus' servers work.
2. Root is not required at all for using fastboot or a custom recovery.
3. Do the NVFlash backups using fastboot and nvflash. Copy the created files from the tablet to your PC before you flash anything else.
4. Install a custom recovery using fastboot.
5. Flash the Asus JB firmware to get the JB bootloader. AFAIK this can be done from the custom recovery.
6. Restore custom recovery using fastboot, it was overwritten by the Asus JB firmware.
7. Flash custom ROM. If you use CleanROM, it's already rooted.

I see issue with your process. After step 4 (install Stock JB firmware from Asus site), after this you no longer have root/recovery, so you can't proceed to step 5 using GooManager. You should follow _that's recommendation, however at step 5, instead of flash the JB firmware, you just use fastboot to flash JB bootloader only, then you don't need his step 6. Go straight to step 7 (use custom recovery to flash custom rom).
Thanks for your help!
So now I think it should work like this:
1. Unlock Bootloader with official ASUS APK
2. Proceed with Nvflash (Afterwards boot into Stock Android to save NvFlash Files before continuing)
3. Install TWRP Recovery
4. Install JB Bootloader with ADB
5. Flash Custom ROM (f.e. Clean Rom)
6. Be Happy, because now it's unbrickable and ervery Custom Rom can be flashed
But i dont't know what I have to type into ADB to flash JB-Bootloader and where to get the Bootloader-Only-File?

PM me I give you JB bootloader zip file
No ADB, just use TWRP to flash JB bootloader just like you flash a rom.
I finally made it without bricking it
If anyone else have questions, feel free to ask me!
And thank you guys for your help

Need Helping Getting XT926 To Accept OTA Update

I have been trying to get my phone to update following the directions for the past year almost and have had no luck.
EDIT*: I am trying to do the OTA update that i am being prompted to do (9.16.6)
I am on:
Android Version 4.1.1
System Verison 9.1.41XT926
Bootloader: unlocked
Safestrap
I am trying to get to Android 4.3 but when I go to voodoo OTA rootkeeper and temp unroot then download and try and install the update my phone reboots like its starting the install but then shows the android the with the ! coming out of him then it restarts and upon restart it tells me that the update failed.
What am I doing wrong and how can I get these updates to work!
Thanks,
Tyler Hegamyer
There isn't an official 4.3. And if your trying to flash a custom 4.3 you need to be unlocked running a custom recovery.

i would suggest abandoning ss unless the rom you want is only supported through ss (rare but possible).
i would:
-disable ss
-use the 1.33 utility in the dev forum to update and return to the latest stock
-use the same utility to root
-use the same utility to flash a custom recovery
--boot into recovery and witpe data/cache/"data-media(cwm recovery specific)" to be sure everything is gone
-choose the rom of your chice from the dev forum and flash in recovery as directed by the rom's dev.
Don't use safe strap. Delete the partion and uninstall it. Use cwm or twrp. And might want to change the title then your not accepting a ota your flashing a custom rom.

I'm also having some troubles. Trying to apply the new update (rooted with stock 4.1.2) keeps resulting in "signature verification failed" in CWM. I have to then wipe the cache so it doesn't keep trying to reboot and apply the update. I've also tried unfreezing all the bloat in TitaniumBackup but got the same results.
Does anyone know a solution for this?
EDIT: I've also tried running OTA rootkeeper app and it still failed.

the ota will not work through a custom recovery such as cwm, you need to put the stock recovery back on.

[Q] Root and custom recovery question

Hello? I was recently s-off, unlocked and using Adrenaline sense 6 lollipop rom.
Yesterday, I went back to stock 4.4.4 using the ruu file. I still have the s-off and unlocked.
Now my questions are..
1. Can I install custom recovery first then root by using supersu.zip file?
2. Or do I need to root first by weaksauce or something then get custom recovery?
You can go straight to installing a custom recovery. From there you can either flash the su binaries to achieve pure stock rooted rom or you could flash any one of the custom roms available which are pre-rooted.
